If you have a (reasonably efficient) deep freeze that you only crack open to grab stuff to cram in your fridge, you can use the deep-frozen stuff to cool your fridge for a surprisingly long time.
During a 4 day outage, I only lost the milk. The deep freeze? Didn’t thaw.
(If it looks like things will go on for a while, you can increase the insulation by replacing removed frozen food with styrofoam.)

Having been raised in South Florida, I made sure to have a whole house generator that runs on natural gas.
I would divide between the refrigerator and the AC unit. We live in South Texas and it gets too HOT to sleep.
I’d use it as a door stop to hold the door while I start my Honda generator, though it would be nice to make a margarita first I suppose.
