Somebody want to tell me how luxurious their life is now that they only have to plug in their powermat but not plug in their external battery? Tell me!
@zachhh honestly its really nice to know that these power banks are gonna be at 100% - especially the one with integrated cables because ill grab that when im headed out the door at night and my battery is already struggling from the days use.
@nadroj you need the wires if youre going to fall back on the backup battery but with the powermat, your phone doesnt need wires to charge when you're going through your normal routine so long as it is powermat compatible like the s6/s6 edge. that's why im getting it
@hpcarden they are! I actually got my first powermat sent to me by Starbucks when they were piloting these things in the Boston area along with a case for my 4S and an earlier version of the small external battery pack.
Here's the thing about these, and why I keep resisting them, even though I'm tempted: I care about using only the power I need. Storing current from the grid in a battery is lossy enough as it is, but when you throw in the inefficiency of transferring power inductively vs. just using a wire and a plug-in connector? That's where you lose me.
Here's both the Powermat and the 1850 battery (the smaller) with Duracell badging, appears to be the same battery as offered here with different logo but def. Duracell - for $12.59 @ Amazon. Oh, plus a bonus case that works with the system that fits an iPhone 4 or 4s, if that's your thing.
@Superllama7 I love Meh as much as I love beer, but if you're only after the mat @ $10, this deal from Amazon rocks - you get the mat, the small battery (the day trip) for only a few bucks more than the mat alone here - and a case you can flip on eBay or Craigslist if you don't need it, bringing your final out of pocket to well below $10. If you have Prime and are in a state that doesn't have Amazon tax (yes, they still exist) this is the way better deal - and Meh doesn't miss having the best deal that often.
@andipandi Correct. And the 4 came out in 2010, 4s in 2011. The 30-pin was ditched afterwards with the 5. So my point about the one sold on Amazon being older stands.
I have too many batteries. Can i pay the $2 difference to get the powermat I did not get when I bought the batteries last month? I feel like I am being nickel and dimed. Make my vmp worth it.
@ponagathos *but nobody ever said "I have too many batteries" until today' eh?
I've got a billion of those horrible Eveready AAs meh sold, and they last about as long as a Fourth of July sparkler in my Apple Bluetooth keyboard. So I barely have a use for them, yet I have ye olde aforementioned billion of them in the cabinet.
This is going to be pointless for a lot of people, because there are better external power supplies out there for similar money (I'm looking at you, Anker). However, I happen to have the Kyocera Hydro Vibe via Virgin Mobile, which has powermat built in. If you're willing to use VM, and your'e fine with budget smartphones, I strongly recommend the Hydro Vibe for a measly $30. Then you should take advantage of this meh offer. I doubt this post will sway anyone, but if you decide to go that route let me know and we can team up for some kind of referral bonus...
@Superllama7 as another owner of the hydro vibe(bought a powermat charger for $7.25 a few mts ago) are you experiencing any crashes related to google apps?
I was in for one, then realized duracell uses a non-common wireless charging standard that would be a beast to adapt my phone to. . and I don't really need more portable batteries, I've hardly used the one I have, and it's fancy with lights.
@thismyusername haha, no, they are white lights. . . or did you mean the battery case? that's also not purple, tis black, all the better to not find it when it's dark.
I have a galaxy s6 so i was considering buying this, but I just bought a 10 ft fast charging cable and I like to charge my phone while using it too. Overall, meh.
So, does this work like my induction cook plate, meaning, will it warm up iron and steel items? If so, can I use it to keep my metal tea kettle warmed up? How high is the output?
i already have an Anker battery and i don't really need the wireless function, but can i say how much i like the design? that little hint of copper is self-referential and kinda cool.
I couldn't sleep last night and noticed it was almost midnight so I was like "cool I'll see what's on Meh" and, well, I Meh button'd the hell outta this
@riceatusc thats awesome, i was just going by the specs. just checked it out and it does work. doesnt work through the case like my other wireless pads do, and it is crazy sensitive to positioning... something i was hoping would be avoided, especially with the magnets. i love how the power banks magnets position themselves pretty much.
think i'll stick with my regular charging pads, and use this one just for the power banks.
really good to know the edge+ does actually support both protocols, getting misinformation is fun... sorry to have passed it along. thanks for the heads up.
I like that this works with my Droid Turbo2 BUT how the hell can I turn off the connection sound?! I took it to work and every time I pick it up/sit it down and makes this stupid sound! I'm so paranoid that I'm annoying my cube neighbors!

Deal keeps on going - charge
Finally the powermat!
East Coast Rocks!!!!!! Bring on those shitty deals!!!!
......actually in for one
Not baby arm compatible? WTF?
Somebody want to tell me how luxurious their life is now that they only have to plug in their powermat but not plug in their external battery? Tell me!
@zachhh Here's what I said last time someone asked what I thought of my purchase the first time around. https://meh.com/forum/topics/duracell-8800mah--1850mah-power-bank-set-1#569f1f2c5456e42407ad9acf
@zachhh honestly its really nice to know that these power banks are gonna be at 100% - especially the one with integrated cables because ill grab that when im headed out the door at night and my battery is already struggling from the days use.
Old phones actually used a hand cranked magneto, so you're not too far off.
I bought the batteries last time and got the Powermat from Amazon. It really works well. Got another set today.
Are you saying these battery packs don't need wires to charge phones?
@nadroj They do need wires to charge phones. They don't need wires to charge themselves.
@djslack so even if I buy this I still have to plug a cable into the phone to charge it? meh.
@nadroj The little one has built in lightning and micro-usb connectors. the big one doesn't.
@nadroj you need the wires if youre going to fall back on the backup battery but with the powermat, your phone doesnt need wires to charge when you're going through your normal routine so long as it is powermat compatible like the s6/s6 edge. that's why im getting it
Nope...iPhone doesn't like it..
@eeterrific thought it was just me
So these only wor for those two phones?
Are these compatible with the Powermats at Starbucks?
@hpcarden they are! I actually got my first powermat sent to me by Starbucks when they were piloting these things in the Boston area along with a case for my 4S and an earlier version of the small external battery pack.
Can you charge the battery packs via the powermat?
@eeterrific That's the plan.
@eeterrific Yes. It works great; they're always charged (assuming you put the powermat in a convenient location).
... and I have VMP again. More impulse shopping, here I come!
Here's the thing about these, and why I keep resisting them, even though I'm tempted: I care about using only the power I need. @Pavlov I ordered this one after the previous powerbank deal... It definitely ruins the powermat-only price
@Pavlov fo sho! If I didn't already have the whole set, though, $20 is definitely a good deal for that
@Pavlov One huge difference - 30-pin vs. lightning connector. The Amazon pack is probably much older than the one sold here.
@narfcake if the case being sold is for a 4 or 4S, you need the 30 pin. No lightning.
@ponagathos Yes, plus an $8 early ordering fee for getting the batteries before.
Sorry. I feel better now. 😉
@ponagathos I'm in your boat, I bought the combo because, well, maybe I'm gonna film my own Blair Witch Project!
Watts a matta you!!!
In for one. Acrid-underwhelmed-pancake.
This again? OK, I suppose it isn't a surprise.
so boring i didn't remember clicking the meh button the first time! want to double click it!
This is going to be pointless for a lot of people, because there are better external power supplies out there for similar money (I'm looking at you, Anker). However, I happen to have the Kyocera Hydro Vibe via Virgin Mobile, which has powermat built in. @Superllama7 as another owner of the hydro vibe(bought a powermat charger for $7.25 a few mts ago) are you experiencing any crashes related to google apps?
@communist You know, I did, a few months ago, but I forgot about that... Fixed it permanently using this excellent guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/solution-kyocera-hydro-icon-hydro-vibe-t3241186
I kind of assumed "they" - Kyocera, Google, or VM - would have done something about that by now, since they're still selling the phone :-/
@communist no recent problems, though, if you're seeing something besides the Google play services error
I was in for one, then realized duracell uses a non-common wireless charging standard that would be a beast to adapt my phone to. . and I don't really need more portable batteries, I've hardly used the one I have, and it's fancy with lights.
@sixsmith
is it purple?
@thismyusername haha, no, they are white lights. . . or did you mean the battery case? that's also not purple, tis black, all the better to not find it when it's dark.
8800mEh... For like the fifth time in a one-month period.
I have a galaxy s6 so i was considering buying this, but I just bought a 10 ft fast charging cable and I like to charge my phone while using it too. Overall, meh.
Can I charge this on my credit card?
@Not_Ken_M I see what you did there!
@Not_Ken_M Only if your credit score is 8800...
Only if it's Qi compatible. Then your balance will be Qi-Gon.
edible-needy-sleet
I hope it works out better than this did:
I've no idea how this matches, but it's a far better image:
@blaineg I would take that over 'amazing-onerous-doll'
I can't figure out if the 20$ is for both batteries AND charging mat or just the bUtteries. Any idea?
@salvatorepoier that would be $20 for the mat and the batteries
@riceatusc thanks! In for one then, that's a good deal ;)
So, does this work like my induction cook plate, meaning, will it warm up iron and steel items? If so, can I use it to keep my metal tea kettle warmed up? How high is the output?
@radi0j0hn I hope it goes to eleven..
i already have an Anker battery and i don't really need the wireless function, but can i say how much i like the design? that little hint of copper is self-referential and kinda cool.
@NAFderwin Does it keep your boat safely moored and up to full charge while you're away?
@Not_Ken_M yes while i'm aweigh
I got my sights set on a Galaxy S7, so I'm in for one Mat. The order number images were less than inspiring, so here's a Matt for my new mat.
I couldn't sleep last night and noticed it was almost midnight so I was like "cool I'll see what's on Meh" and, well, I Meh button'd the hell outta this
In for one because I have my galaxy s6 edge+
@riceatusc me too, it's not compatible. The s6 edge is, the + is not.
I bought 2 ,and found out Samsung hates me. Sorry homie.
@ErikRL you must be doing something we rong because my edge+ works perfectly with this. Have to line it up correctly, but it works
Hooray my new phone works with a powermat. Prefect timing.
Wow, I didn't even know the S6 had wireless charging at all. Yay!
More meh than anticipated. Just found out my phone's QI compatible, but this is PMA...
I like that this works with my Droid Turbo2 BUT how the hell can I turn off the connection sound?! I took it to work and every time I pick it up/sit it down and makes this stupid sound! I'm so paranoid that I'm annoying my cube neighbors!
I don’t think Big pack puts out advertised 2A, my Nexis 5x was discharging while plugged in, with 4 leds lit up on the battery
@username what cable are you using?
@communist short couple inches cable that worked well with a different pack, and 2.1A output
Still charges, still easier than a plug, the charging chime causes my brain to release a few endorphins when I put my battery on it.
@one_two3456 Now I think you’re just picking shit at random dude.
@one_two3456 My kids lost all of mine. I loved these things.
@one_two3456
@one_two3456 @therealjrn Are you sure he didn’t just go through his order history? There’s a link on each and every one.
@one_two3456 @sammydog01 No, I am not sure at all. I’m just playing around like they are.
@one_two3456 @sammydog01 I’m worried that this is “tying up loose ends” type behavior actually.
