@kuoh only 8? We had a coworker in Yosemite who carried a black duffel bag with him EVERYWHERE. We always speculated that it was heads. None of us had the bollocks to try and look in the bag though we often dared one another to. I even have a friend that registered the domaine name whatsinphilsduffelbag.
My duffel bag used to be my go-to carry-on because theoretically it could’ve been squashed into one of those onboarder sizing frames but no one ever actually challenged it. However it was tough enough that I still have it so what I need nowadays is a backpack that has those baby-carriage-handle clips. But, um, not for a pram.
I keep a rolling duffel bag that is collapsible and zips down to a small space that I use when we make trips to St Lucia.
Years ago I got connected with an orphanage there and when we go we bring 50 lbs of “stuff” for them. Things like OTC meds, diapers, clothing, shoes, printer ink etc for the kids that are very expensive on the island I can bring from here for a (relative) pittance. Since I’m traveling to the Caribbean my personal luggage needs are pretty minimal, so I can pack everything for them in the roller duffel bag then zip it back into it’s compact form and throw it in my suitcase for the rest of the trip, which is usually a barefoot sailboat cruise.
@jitc
I have occasionally had to resort to going to Goodwill for an bag to use when flying home when I found I had extra liquids (IE local liquor or wines) that I needed to bring back.
Duffleing around the country.
…avoiding the convenience of a roller suitcase or the utility of a backpack. You know, for when you want to achieve that sort of thing…
@shahnm
Collapsible roller duffel bags are actually a thing, see my comment below.
… I have no idea.
Could be the reason I am not buying one.
Duffel bags I don’t use for travel anymore are pretty good for storing stuff when you run out of those plastic storage bins.
8 heads.
KuoH
@kuoh … of state?
@pmarin If you’re the CIA. The rest of us wiseguys just take regular ones.

@kuoh and yes I know you’re referencing the film.
Going to the gym. When I do go.

Expanding your inventory. You can’t fit all your green herbs in one pouch.
I can’t recall a time I’ve ever used a duffel bag.
@kittykat9180 I can’t recall a time you did either.
@yakkoTDI it sounds like we’re on the same page then.
All trips!

Is the duffel big enough to put a body in? Asking for a friend.
@eddhernandez If it isn’t you can always buy two.
@eddhernandez @yakkoTDI And wait for Meh to sell a chainsaw?
@eddhernandez @ItalianScallion @yakkoTDI
Done!

Backup luggage. Just whatever doesn’t fit elsewhere, usually fits in a duffle.

…Bagging duffel
@macromeh Just make sure it’s still in season.
KuoH
@macromeh I for years had my kids convinced that the filling of a burrito was a special mixture called “burrit” and this reminds me of that.
bagging duffel a.k.a. duffeling
When I go up north and don’t need to pack everything and anything.
Instead of a dresser or cabinet, I use duffel bags to hold men’s cotton undergarments: Socks, Briefs, Tanks.
