Diaper bag... thats about the only Bag I carry now anyway... But for the 1st 13 years of my life it was a fanny pack... Well I guess not the first 3-4 or so... but after that. Anaphylactic reactions to Eggs and egg products... so I had the essentials... Epipen, Benadryl, primates mist, Snacks that wouldn't kill me (something small like a peanut butter cracker package, my grandmother was convinced that I would be stuck somewhere and couldn't eat but a Peanut butter cracker would be enough.)
manpurse / messenger bag. I don't care what other people think, I want to carry all my stuff around including a bluetooth keyboard and tablet, damn it! Besides, I carry screwdrivers and other manly things in there!
I guess the ones I've gotten online are the OGIO 13" Covert Shoulder Bag - Heather Grey, which is my EDC, and the bolstr, where he ended up making a few design compromises I ended up not liking. I also have an early version of Betabrand's Cornucopia for farmers markets and stuff like that, and it's a lot nicer than the current version (including being only one color). I have another four or five shoulder bags for various things because none of them do everything well.
@editorkid Yeah, I don't get the EDC knife thing, either. I can open boxes with keys or a pen, and tear open envelopes. I just don't encounter times that I can only use a knife to solve a crisis often enough.
@Pamtha Yeah -- exactly. Plus all of my boxes come to my apartment, so I bought one of these nice-ish inexpensive knives, but I leave it here because then it always is where I need it.
@editorkid@Pamtha guess you don't do or work on things a lot of other folks do and that colors your perspective. Leatherman tool and a pocketknife used almost daily at work. Abusing a pen to split tape can screw it up, getting tape gunk on your keys can cause problems for the locks you're supposed to use them in. The right tool for the right job.
@duodec amen....I carry a knife because I use it often enough to need it. I don't carry a pen because when I need one I am in a position to have one on hand. I no longer carry my Gerber because I don't have that need anymore but I still own it for times I may. The only thing I carry without a clear and present need is a gun...bit that's one you can't substitute quite the same.
@editorkid Because its more effort to remove them than leave them in place. Because if I leave them on the belt and in the pocket, they won't be overlooked and forgotten at home and stick me with borrowing tools from someone else, or again, abusing objects to substitute for them. Besides though work is the primary location for using those tools, they get used at home too; its nice having a pocketknife to hand so I'm not using (abusing) a kitchen knife cutting shrink wrap off of food, or other tasks. Or using the Leatherman to do one of the myriad handy-household tasks that it can do so well without having traipse out to the garage to fetch a tool, then have to go out and put it away. My pocket or belt is there home, its where they belong, and except when subject to the tender ministries of the TSA, its where they stay.
Hell I even buy them airline tickets, When I have to travel by air, they are sometimes the only reason I check a bag, so I'll have them at the destination. F*cking airline baggage charges...
@SSteve empire building is still going strong for me after 8 years, their medium cafe bag fills in on short non computer needed trips. In the long run, their bags are cheap
i carry T.H.E. Pack ive had it for 4 years and it takes all the abuse i throw at it, i carry it onto all my major construction projects and it still has yet to come apart
Karimor trail. Have it for 17 years now. Daily use + weekend hikes (and more). Fits a laptop and more. Before they were made in the far east. Cost a LOT, worth every penny. Everything intact, some wear on bottom back. but after 17 years- I'm not complaining :-)
I use a magnetic tank bag (I commute by motorcycle unless it's below 35 degrees or hurricane level rain, then I'll borrow my fiancee's car) and carry it into work almost every day. It holds basic necessities - flat tire kit, multitool, medicines, headlamp and flashlight, etc, as well as my lunch. It's also large enough (and can be expanded) that I can grab some groceries on the way home if needed.
A brown paper bag.
@thismyusername MadDog 20/20?
@mfladd various assorted adult beverages.
@thismyusername A 1869 Château Lafite-Rothschild?

@ceagee Thanks for relenting, but I will wait a bit for that one (but it still counts)!
That's - 3. Just one more due (@duodec)
@mfladd Sorry had to go in to work again most of the day.
Wish they'd get the link 'at this time' to work... go to 00:57 if you can't stand to wait...
@duodec Nope. Since you took the trouble I watched the whole thing. Thank you. :)
That's - 4. everyone's debt is paid in full.
@mfladd I thought the same as you right away.
@ceagee Bah, Dew is for posers, there is only Sundrop.
@cinoclav I FOUND WALDO!
@cinoclav @mfladd I'd really, really like to be the almond in this scenario. Please?
@jaremelz What is wrong with you? :)
@mfladd What on earth do you mean? I don't want to be Waldo, no one can ever find me. And the other one is obviously fucking nuts.
Yes, a document / portfolio case.
I've got this red meh bag I picked up somewhere.......
I have those same mints ! Sometimes I switch off w/ the ginger flavored ones. Have you tried those @jasontoon ?
The Bag of Holding is my everyday purse.
Only when my lunch is in it.

Laptop bag going to and from work. Tool bag for customer work trips. Otherwise, no...
But I don't think a backpack really counts as a generic 'bag'. Its a different beast.

And the only reason I can think of to carry around a knife every day is you're a serial killer.
@editorkid Yeah, I don't get the EDC knife thing, either. I can open boxes with keys or a pen, and tear open envelopes. I just don't encounter times that I can only use a knife to solve a crisis often enough.

@duodec Exactly! I don't encounter knife needs at my desk job, gym/running group*, or grocery store.
*I do carry pepper spray when running in case of random wolverine attack
@duodec
Well, sure, but then why would you carry them around 24/7?
@editorkid Because its more effort to remove them than leave them in place. Because if I leave them on the belt and in the pocket, they won't be overlooked and forgotten at home and stick me with borrowing tools from someone else, or again, abusing objects to substitute for them. Tom Bihn Empire Builder. I bring my MacBook Pro and iPad back and forth to work.
@SSteve empire building is still going strong for me after 8 years, their medium cafe bag fills in on short non computer needed trips. In the long run, their bags are cheap
@Catdad Mine still looks brand new after six years of daily use.
For work: a combination messenger bag/backpack (ThinkGeek's grey, canvas Bag of Holding backpack).
For errands: a no-name tactical sling bag. It's just big enough to hold my iPad mini and a bunch of small stuff.
I've got a couple I carry with me everywhere. They're under my eyes. sigh
i carry T.H.E. Pack ive had it for 4 years and it takes all the abuse i throw at it, i carry it onto all my major construction projects and it still has yet to come apart

I'm in IT, I have an M-51 Engineers Field bag as my man-purse and it has held up to all of the beatings I can throw at it for almost 4 years now.
a dime bag?
saddleback messenger bag. i love it, probably too much.
