@jwoody27@kostia “Comment elbow” … Hey! Your autoINcorrect inadvertently coined a term for the heinous habit of those pushy people who try to get your attention before telling a story by saying, “Hey, listen to this!” & elbowing you in the ribs.
The Adventure Zone. D&D but it’s heavier on the storytelling and looser on mechanics. It’s always captivating and always hilarious. And all the theme music is straight fire
So much true crime. My Favorite Murder of course, but also The Opportunist, The Fall Line, Tenfold More Wicked, Lost Hills, The Dream.
Scientology fascinates me. Underground Bunker just started a podcast, and there’ll be new episodes one of these days of the amazing Leah Remini/Mike Rinder joint Fair Game.
There’s a wonderful, eye-opening podcast about Mother Teresa and how abusive her order was and is, called The Turning.
I used to watch Cute with Chris when it was a podcast and actually played it on my iPod video (a 30GB rotational HDD with a 320x240 screen and the click wheel). But I haven’t done many podcasts since. I mostly do audiobooks for longer-format listening.
Very rarely. Unfortunately, i have the concentration/attention span of a chipmunk on crack. If only i had the energy level, it would be a decent trade off!
I have a lengthy commute and also listen while exercising…The Bible in a Year, Unlocking Us, Bishop Barron’s Sunday Sermons, 99% Invisible, Chasing Life, Smartless, The Way I Heard It, Armchair Expert, and Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend are in my normal rotation.
The Best Show with Tom Scharpling. It was a show on the radio for like 15 years before he started doing it as a live stream and podcast. It’s free and very funny.
With the kids I listen to
Forever Ago and Brains On.
With the wife I listen to a local restaurant review podcast you all wouldn’t care about.
By myself I listen to:
LeVar Burton Reads
The WDW Radio Show with Lou Mongello
Imaginer Podcast
WDW Prep To Go
The Way I heard it with Mike Rowe
Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History (when an episode drops once a year)
I listen to old Loveline episodes while I run/work out, it’s rare for me to be in my vehicle for more than 15-20 minutes, and I prefer reading to listening for information, so podcasts don’t really have a place in my life.
The only exception was when I moved halfway across the US. 11 hours of driving a day for 3 days. I knocked out a bunch of Freakonomics episodes.
I use Overcast which let me skip 1000 hours of silence between words. Above and beyond speed sliders.
Radiolab has enough sound magic to deserve 1x, but I pay for TechMeme ride home, if I listen every day it’s worth the premium feed to not have ads.
I used to a lot more when I drove to work. I am falling behind with my new WFH situation, but once I’m doing more real work and less learning I’ll be able to listen to podcasts while working. The ones that have stuck are
Ice Cream Social
Penn’s Sunday School
Great Night
None of these are work safe. I guess I like to listen to dick and fart jokes.
Ones I remember enjoying but don’t have in regular rotation include
99% Invisible
Radiolab
Freakonomics
The Dollop
The Glass Cannon
Somewhere between Nope and an occasional free one.
Scared to Death
The Magnus Archives
None of the others get my money.
sofa king podcast
Rude Tales of Magic
Eclipsed
Under understood
Science Vs
Corn on the Macabre
Budgens and Dragons
Fun City
My favorite murder and last podcast on the left

@thechilipepper0 I second this. Griffin’s music makes this podcast extra special.
Whiskey Women. (shameless plug)
No, why? Are they supposed to make a strange or delightful sound when they hit something?

Absolutely!
(TW: These are all true crime, though not all murder/violence)
@SargassoC S Town gave me feelings.
Serial (S3?) the one where the go to Ohio taught me so much about how law works.
I listen to lots of podcasts. News, comedy, history, technical. The only one I pay for is Possum Lodge Podcast.
The Adam Carolla Show,
Sasquatch Chronicles &
Astonishing Legends

Dozens, literally. Mostly true crime, a few related to my job, and a bit of politics. I’m never without something to listen to.
