@Jeshua I don't even use the Facebook app, unless I am wanting to tag someone or check in somewhere. And I keep the setting so I don't get any notifications, for anything.
@MsELizardBeth Maybe you should get one bigger portable battery. I have a 12,000 mAh portable battery that will charge my phone several times. You know what they say about men who have big portable batteries, right? Wait, never mind.
@theco2 one of mine is that big. I also usually have a plethora of cords, since my friends and coworkers are notoriously underprepared and I am notoriously mother hennish... I even keep an iphone cord, despite owning exactly zero apple products.
I have minecraft on my tablet, MAJOR battery hog the other two culprits that I know of are the media player and the Android Media server, I just make sure I swipe them closed if I'm going to be a little while getting back to them. other wise I let them go. double car charger in the car a spare usb at work and a back up battery in my purse
The worst battery drain on my nokia lumia 520 is livegaming but the nokia under regular (no app) use can last 1-2 days using it as a mp3 player will drain your battery in about 9 hours for me also my phone now sells for 39$ its a meh phone at its best.
Any app that uses GPS will suck your battery dry. I turn off location services for any app that requests it, aside from ones where I need my location to be known. I also never understood why some apps feel the need to leave the GPS on the entire time you're using them (ahem, Google Maps). If I want to know my location, I'll tap the location icon or use the navigation function. Otherwise, leave it the fuck off. I don't need GPS to look at a map or find a restaurant's address.
@jsh139 Google Maps & Apple Maps check your location constantly in the background to get your location and speed. They use this data to to update traffic conditions on roads. This is how they can sense traffic slow downs before the Department of Transportation agencies report their own data.
@jsh139 No, it's fine; this anonymous GPS data can save you hours of time. If it's sucking down your battery when you're not moving, you can switch GPS itself off. I always plug in the phone when I'm driving anyway, so it makes little difference.
@PocketBrain I guess I meant that it was worse because I had no idea. I know that Waze does this (it says so right in the App Store). But I didn't realize that apple maps and google maps were??
I try to, but it's very easy to ignore the "Only 5% battery remaining" popup when I'm playing World of Tanks. Then a few matches later the iPad dies, and I have to scramble to charge it. Invariably, I myself am dead by the time I get it started back up. : (
I wonder what percentage of AFKers in that game are due to this.
I was going to say no, not for any reason just no, but then I remembered that that stupid Dots game ate my battery so fast and overheated my phone so much that I killed the little bastid dead. Inexplicable why it would do that... freakin' Carmageddon doesn't eat the battery like that.
Worst offender I have found is Sensorly. It tracks wifi signal SSIDs & signal strength of wifi and 4g/3g/2g every 3 feet. When my 6 year old G1 phone came out of the box-it took 30 minutes to drain the battery. 2014 phones it drains in about an hour with heavy city driving. Also over heats smart phones I've had for long drives charging.
I uninstalled Facebook because it kills my battery!
@Jeshua I have to do this every few releases.
@Jeshua I don't even use the Facebook app, unless I am wanting to tag someone or check in somewhere. And I keep the setting so I don't get any notifications, for anything.
@Jeshua I uninstalled Facebook because Facebook annoys me.
Ingress is my top offender. I can go from 80% battery to dead in under an hour.
@rrapnek and that is why my purse is so heavy... 4 portable batteries in it at all times! (VIVA LA RESISTANCE!)

@MsELizardBeth I have never known the definition of "mother hen" to include cell phone duties, but it is the 21st century.
@rrapnek Once you join with the Enlightened you will see that our way is best. Do not resist enlightenment is bliss.
@Jeshua Oh, I am enlightened. Go frogs!
My phone doesn't even do internet...

@jsh139 You do know that Google bought Waze...
@SIMBM no, I didn't know that.

I don't really have the same battery problems i hear others having. but I'm not glued to my phone either.
