@duodec I had both the flu shot and pneumonia shot. -sigh- I’ll be wearing a mask next week when I visit Mom at the nursing home. I don’t want to expose anyone to this crud.
@Barney I’ve had two teens knocked on their butts by the flu this past week. Second half of their Christmas vacation spent sleeping on couches. I guess I really should consider that flu shot next year.
Glad you’re back and feeling better!
Get a flu shot. (It’s not too late to get one this year.) Get a pneumonia shot, if you qualify. Heck, get a whiskey shot, too. Get anything that might protect you from this stuff. And thanks.
And aling w flu and pneumonia shots, if you qualify, get a shingles shot. That last one is aged-qualified no prescription. Younger people can get them w a prescription.
@f00l Seriously yes with the shingles and get the new one it is more effective. I got shingles in 5 nerve roots in the middle of chemo. It was exquisitely, excruciatingly painful. For about 6 mo in my case. Even a slight breeze, my clothes, a strand of hair was painful. Think the kind of pain you get when the dentist drill hits a nerve. Now imagine that shooting through the affected area say 60 times a minute (I had trouble not flinching each time), while having that same skin sizzling in a hot pan. Trust me. You do not want to get that. Ever.
A family member - elderly but pretty healthy, still played tennis and ran a business - got shingles after the stress of minor surgery. He was in astonishing pain for months and never fully regained his energy and sharpness of mind after that.
He did get past it, finally, and did resume tennis and his life, but we could observe, and he freely admitted, that the ordeal had stolen something from him that he couldn’t recover.
He said “I’d rather have a thousand surgeries than have shingles”.
@f00l I am not sure about 1000 surgeries, however it can be horrifically painful for a long time 24/7. Actually I am left with some chronic itching and reduced sensation in some of the skin - but better that than ongoing pain like some people have. Six months of that was bad enough.
Now what’s this I hear about Meh NOT selling purple speakers?
@Barney isn’t it sad?
@RiotDemon This place has gone to pot.

If you buy a red one and a blue one maybe they will breed.
@RedMartian That’s a very scary thought.
@Barney Yes but their babies might be stereo…
Glad you are feeling better. There’s a nasty bug going around our office; three people have been out since Tuesday and still sound terrible.
People laughed at me for having flu masks in my desk. Now they stand in line for them…

@Barney The heck with a whisky shot (yes I caught that LOL) - just mainline it. PS glad you are feeling more human today.

@f00l I am a walking pin cushion.

@Kidsandliz My mom had it inside her ear. Miserable for a very long time. A couple years later, and she still has balance/equilibrium problems.
@barney feel better soon!
@jimmyd103 Thanks, but I’ve got to admit that I am getting pretty good at this nap thing.
@Barney Practice makes perfect. You likely need to practice a lot so you score 100%. Keep up the good work.
@Barney
I recommend laziness and self-indulgence as a curative, at least for a while.
Always thought shingles was dumb and no big deal until a friend of mine got it. Very painful.
