I don't care who wins goat, because it's stupid. What I DO care about is that the powers at Meh activated my avatar ability--and for that, I am eternally grateful.
@jsimsace I don't know, but I think everybody should ask for an avatar. They are really well done and non-intrusive. Really helps me recognize my replies with a quick glance. Bravo Meh!!!
Just to clarify, usually there is a thread made after the goat is picked and people talk randomly in it about goats the goat and post goat pics, since I couldn't find one I made one... :)
@thismyusername So, I realized it wasn't up and then promptly forgot about it again. Oops? I'd feel bad, but it's really @TaRDy's fault so... (If I don't get to it tomorrow, someone poke me and I'll make one by Monday. Sorry Tardy.)
@Thumperchick but if its a "avatar" it should be near my name everytime... hence leaving it at top when I start a post and moving to the bottom when replying to a post.
To be fair I keep forgetting and having to go back... I am almost to lazy to keep doing this... :)
@Pavlov Wasn't the above picture from The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming? In that scene Alan Arkin's character is telling Carl Reiner's character, "Is great idea. I send my men fifty paces and BLOOEY! I congratulate you on extreme genius of this plan. Ptooey!" YouTube sadly seems to have a dearth of clips from this extremely funny movie, but here's where Arkin's character tries to teach his men an English sentence:
I've never seen or read Catch-22, but it looks pretty funny.
@jqubed да (da), it is - I just wanted an excuse (had been waiting for a long time, actually) to post Susanne Benton, and I figured since you may be an Arkin fan that you might have seen C22. Catch-22 is, IMHO, genius - do check it out. Many critics panned it as it doesn't do justice to Heller's book, but I find it really good film and a wonderful parody of a bureaucratic society in general.
I really like Arkin, and am looking forward to the reboot of Going in Style (1979) that he is starring in with Joey King, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine which is set to be released in May of 2016.
@Pavlov This is why I try to watch movies before reading the books on which they're based, so I can judge the film on its own merits and not in comparison with the source material. I thought The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was one of the funniest movies I'd ever seen, but people who read the books first generally didn't seem to like it.
If you'd have the books after, you'd know why we didn't like the movie.
It's one of the few movies I've watched in the last few years which i completely regretted watching.
From the only 2 movies which were worse for me than Hitchhikers Guide, 1 movie i only found somewhat funny watching it in Spanish, and another movie i stopped after only 20 movies.
@FroodyFrog I did read the books afterward, all of them. That didn't negate how funny I found the movie on its own initially, and the movie didn't make the books any less funny. It was just different in some areas. In THHGTTG, of course, even the books aren't exactly canonical, since it was a radio show first, then records, as well as a TV show and computer game besides the books, none of them exactly the same as the others. A movie will basically always have less than a source novel, and the characters onscreen will be a bit different than on the page. It's hard to separate our expectations, though. Taken on its own, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy really was hysterical; it's just different than the books.
@TaRDy won. (or lost depending how you view it)
@thisismyusername and I thought I was late...
BAAH (humbug!)
I don't care who wins goat, because it's stupid. What I DO care about is that the powers at Meh activated my avatar ability--and for that, I am eternally grateful.
@phatmass haha now try to get them to remove it :)
@thismyusername No way. Never!
@phatmass How did you get avatar abilities? I must've missed that thread....
@jsimsace It was probably this thread: https://meh.com/forum/topics/pagination-is-broken
@dashcloud Indeed it was...thanks!

Here is the voting thread

in other words there was no goat thread and for that I blame @TaRDy
@thismyusername perhaps I'll get around to explaining my goat theme for the month, it will be very disappointing
@TaRDy I am looking forward to not getting excited about it!
@thismyusername So, I realized it wasn't up and then promptly forgot about it again. Oops? I'd feel bad, but it's really @TaRDy's fault so...

@Thumperchick - Being late seems somehow appropriate this month.
We've all discussed this previously, but it is becoming more and more apparent that goat-dom may have jumped the shark awhile back.
@Pavlov have WE ? :)
@thismyusername I had to edit it, I couldn't help it. You posting that image 2 lines below is more maddening than it should be.

@thismyusername I can accept that interpretation. still... twitch
Wait, @Thumperchick, isn't that your dog?
@thismyusername
Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
@KDemo nope. That's just a doge, not my doge.
@Pavlov Thanks to your encouraging words I shall soldier on! :)
(and I'll move it up to keep Thumperchick from going insane)
@thismyusername
@Pavlov Oh, I was just thinking about that movie! I need to get it; it's been far too long.
@jqubed

@Pavlov That looks like quite a cast, too!

@jqubed
There was one song in the movie which i looked...
I'll probably watch it again tonight.
Meanwhile, i gotta go raid my fridge for something purple, then promptly space out for the next 6 hours...
( @barney - and THAT'S what I do with purple stuff)
@thumperchick
Tell @jqubed not to be logical when people/frogs aren't expecting it. 😭
@FroodyFrog Eating purple stuff and than spacing out is a very important part of life. We need moar purple.
@Barney
Especially if you knew what the people stuff was. Mwahaha
@FroodyFrog Grape jelly?
Nothing to see here, move along.
There, I made one.
