@cbl_wv@padaltalula@wendigee i learned to cook in a restaurant and that is one of the first things the chef taught me. Add cold to hot. Heat the pan before you add the grease so any water in the pan evaporates, otherwise it can spatter the grease; add cold food to hot grease to avoid sticking. If it still sticks, you may not have had the grease hot enough. And then don’t move the food for a minute or two. Moving it around immediately is another sure fire way to make food stick. Let it cook for a bit and it will release itself. And heavy pans like these seem to be will be much better.
@lomerson2 i read a review that gave it 2 stars… says it doesn’t heat evenly on induction and actually damages the pan. this seems to be an older model. I canceled my order i was really looking forward to a quality set of new pans… its still listed on homedepot at 299.00 with rave reviews so i don’t know what to trust.
edit: actually the one on homedepot is not the cone shaped which i guess is part of the problem perhaps?
@lomerson2 No. Stainless pans are not magnetic so will not work on an induction burner. Same thing with aluminum pans – will not work. There is that one exception where the manufacturer mounts a special plate on the bottom of the pan specifically to make their pans compatible with induction stovetops. These don’t appear to have that addition.

Too expensive for me,. I’m poor… but you can put some in my Irk meh.
@OnionSoup In my last IRK I received a full, unopened 8 piece set of Cuisinart Hammered Collection Tri Ply Stainless steel pans. Imagine my surprise!
@benj nice haul. Best I’ve received is food savers… I’ve scored those twice. Well worth the $5.
The really nice irks make up for the irks that arrive with the tape ripped.off the box and nothing but spilled poo poori left inside.
Can I get this set in my IRK please?
tempted, but stainless always seems to stick so bad… i thought the new hotness was ceramic coating… non-stick without the chemicals?
@wendigee are you putting cold proteins into hot pans? That’s a sure fire recipe for sticking!
@padaltalula … guilty. don’t try to cook a soymeat patty in one of these. they suggest cooking from frozen and uhhh. it sticks like crazy
@padaltalula @wendigee “Hot pan/cold oil/foods won’t stick” (from w-a-a-a-y back in the days of PBS’ cooking shows, iirc) works for me.

F-it… i have a small mix of really shitty old cheap teflon pans. ill throw them away and learn to use these.
they have to be better than what i have now and I would love a stockpot.

lol they’ve sold 3 whole sets so far… did i make a mistake?
Will these work on induction burner, can’t find positive answer…lot’s of “they should”, “most stainless do” sort of opinions.

@lomerson2 The set from later in the day explicitly says induction compatible though.
