Just got back from Japan (it was awesome!!!), and there they don’t have corn dogs, they have “American Dogs”, and it was the best corn dog I’ve ever had. Ever. Even in America. They’re super fat at the top, and have the best crispy crunch ever.
@Pantheist Yep, but only lightly, like most Japanese fried things (which I like a lot). And it’s more of a pancake type batter, I don’t think there’s any corn meal in it.
@Pantheist Definitely worth it, even if just for the food. I’d HIGHLY recommend getting out of the Tokyo area for part of your trip. The big city is a blast in and of itself, but seeing the country is astounding. There’s an interesting feeling I get when I see the country, especially in the mountainous areas where the trees feel soooooo old. Getting out and seeing some old shrines is really fun. Go visit a small island too! Seeing modern and ancient culture is important for me. Since we go every couple years to visit my wife’s family, I find visiting the country to be my favorite part.
@Pantheist I just started going through my photos yesterday, and haven’t gotten to that portion of the trip yet (they’re at home). So, this is a bad example from a park north of Tokyo, but the trees (which are way too far away in this photo) still gave me some of that feeling:
It was wildflower in mid October!:
This one I successfully captured something that I’ve been trying to do for years: to capture the movement of the wind. It was incredibly windy, swiveling all the flowers around in every direction. So, I slowed down the shutter to capture some of that movement, and kind of looks like a painting! It looks a little dark on my work computer screen, so I may need to darken it a bit at home…
If you remind me in a few days after I go through more photos I’d be happy to post more, especially from the country down on a northern island!

Candy corn dogs.

@luvche21 if you crop it the right way it looks like a big ass pooping out mustard and ketchup…
@luvche21 Deep fried?
@Pantheist Yep, but only lightly, like most Japanese fried things (which I like a lot). And it’s more of a pancake type batter, I don’t think there’s any corn meal in it.
@luvche21 Interesting. There are so many different foods in Japan. I’ll have to go one day.

@luvche21 That does sound fun. Do you have any pictures of the country?

@luvche21 Pretty! I especially like the close up of the flowers. Park looks a little crowded though- are there areas with fewer people?
@Pantheist Yeah, a bit crowded. The only photo I had with me at the time though…
@luvche21
Gorgeous.
@Pantheist Here’s another one!
This one’s at the coast down on a southern island.
p.s. that’s 4 horizontal images stitched together.
@luvche21 It looks like a fairy tale!
@Pantheist And another! Let’s see if this works, it was a larger file since it’s 7 photos stitched together this time:
Well, imgur wouldn’t take it since it’s a large file, and when I uploaded it through meh, it swapped it horizontally… any other options?
@Pantheist That’s the exact word I use when I visit - it always takes me a week or so to get out of the fairytale feeling!
OK, here’s a really dumbed down version that I could get into imgur…
@luvche21 That is so cool… Ok, I have to visit Japan for more than just the food.
So, given all the nonsense regarding sandwiches and hot dogs:
Is a corn dog a sandwich?
/8ball Is a corn dog a sandwich?
Cannot predict now
@thismyusername this makes me unreasomabky hunfry

I have a box of corn dogs in the freezer. This thread almost makes me want one.
@RiotDemon Almost? How do you onlky almost want a corn dog?!
@Pantheist I dunno. It’s been a few hours and I still haven’t eaten one.
