This is awesome. I can’t tell if it’s even remotely useful, and that it showed up here implies the manufacturer will be discontinuing their app for it any second, but man I want one. Has anyone figure out how to hax them so they don’t need the app to work?
@Lynnerizer Going to print custom images or such on certain particular items. Just got around to charging this thing last night. Ready to start experimenting soon.
@Lynnerizer Haven’t even installed the software yet. Its still sitting on the counter charging. Although, now knowing its washable without clear coating over it was additional work I wasn’t aware of nor looking forward to. So, my experimental projects were put off after discovering such.
I’m…kinda trying to think why I would need something to substitute for my own hand if I have the actual item in front of me. Maybe for untraceable graffiti? Otherwise, this is kinda the opposite of the route I find myself going.
@ShotgunX I agree with you, but sadly the e-mark Create has all the business features disabled, meaning that you can’t use the other e-mark app that would let you do things like auto-date, or sequential print numbers, or do barcodes or QR codes. You could still technically print barcodes by creating them, saving them as a compatible png file and uploading them into the app, but I’m not sure how great the results will be.
Virtually the same device is available as the e-mark (not Create) and it supports all the Create features along with the business-centric things, and lets you upload three prints into the device and tap on the top to change between them (other than that it appears to be hardware identical). But only that non-Create model device will work with the business-focused app or their PC desktop app or Windows 10 direct print driver.
You can see the comparison page of the two models here.
@curtise@ShotgunX I must say the black ones shown on that link look Star Wars themed. For how many features are missing from the Create model it’s no surprise it ended up on Meh.
Might’ve been interested, but recently ordered a laser engraver for about 3x the price. Multi-color will be somewhat trickier than with this, but could buy a lot of spray paint for the cost of one replacement ink cartridge.(Assuming they are even still available in the future) Can also do permanent black etchings on white tile, or use scratch paper for all kinds of color possibilities.
For anyone wondering how such a “cool” device ended up here for a fraction of the price, you need not look further than the Amazon reviews. Every single one over 3 stars and not returned was “Early Review Rewards”.
That said, at 1/3 the price those reviews were for, this device may be enough fun? Meh. Still kinda pricy for “may be”.
I’d consider one that was optimized for “office” use (basically, address labels and various date stamps like “received on” “deposited on” etc). And by optimized I mean cheaper.
@awk USB Dymo LabelWriter. The thermal type paper type, not the plastic cartridge labels. If you look around, you can find them used for $30-$40 easily and buy dirt cheap labels for them.
I had one at my old workplace, insisted my new one buy me one and now have one in my home office. It’s one of those things that seems like an unused waste of money until you need to label a file folder, or do a single address label, or put your name on something random and it’s like, oh, yeah, that’s why I have that thing!
@awk they do offer an office use model. It is actually more expensive and does everything the Create model does, but also unlocks business functionality.
@curtise It makes sense they would offer a business version. Looks like it’s $348 on Amazon. I’m just not that fancy so I’ll stick with $15 ink stamps.
@awk@jmckee My favorite use for a thermal label printer at home is to indicate which specific gadget a power brick was included for, especially if it uses a barrel plug rather than a USB port. IE this brick is for my 8-port switch, this one for my diffuser, this one’s for my camera, etc.
I have to go out on a limb here and say that it will not work as consistently as is shown in that demonstration video. If it did, would it be here? I’m pretty sure it’s one of those things that you have to get the hang of and will sit in a shelf collecting dust after the first day.
Soo tempting! I do leather crafting and I could use this to personalize little journals, wallets or handbags if I could find a way to ensure water resistance.
However, based on the videos I just watched, it does not appear to be a permanent ink (ie: it can’t be used on something like t shirts or things that will be washed or could get wet). That’s a bummer because this would be great for labeling clothing for kids and stuff.
@curtise Thank you!
I’ve never heard of that before. I know heat setting can work with some inks, but a spray seems much easier and safer than high heat on leather, lol! I’ll see what kind of ink fixatives I can find.
Yeah, I did it. I had an old Fujitsu sheet feed scanner on the back seat of the truck and my wife asked about the “small printer” that I had. She sounded disappointed when I told her it was a scanner. So, what the heck, might as well do this. Daughter is getting married in July, so I’m sure it will get used for stuff.
I don’t know how many Meh is sitting on, but they’re selling fairly well. 241 sold as of 9:22 am EDT. If you’re on the fence on this purchase your fellow Meh-tizens may make the decision for you. I won’t be surprised to see them sell out.
Tempting, but very few reviews on Amazon, and the ones that look legit - more than one line of text - are all negative. I’m tempted but this is a skip for me because I bet it doesn’t work anywhere near as well as the video shows. A key flaw in every inkjet product is when you turn the power off, the ink clogs. The only way to keep an inkjet unclogged is to leave it powered up 24/7. You can’t do that with this little thing.
Maybe this one really works, but I have two other ones from different brands, and they seem to last for about 5 or 6 prints, then stop working. So much as I would like one, I’m going to pass on it.
What sucks is I just canceled my membership yesterday because it’s been ages since I used it. And now I want this, but I would have to pay for a whole new membership even though my last charge was just a few days ago. MEHHHH!!!
@djslack no, the TOS say that it’s canceled immediately and you will not be charged with any part of the month you had already used. I thought it was actually a forward charge, so I’m confused. I’m pretty sure you get charged right away the first time, which would suggest an advance charge. But there’s no way to actually ask someone.
$50 for replacement ink cartridge…ouch! The reviews are abysmal. Seems like my VMP is only acting as charity since there hasn’t been any useful crap in many months. May be time to cancel and just pay the shipping if anything useful ever comes up.
Alright, I’m in. @valkyriered will make something cool with it if it works. @yeppers figuring out that they’re hp 62 xl ink cartridges and not some proprietary shit sold me.

@Seeds
“bro, wtf? Hands up don’t spray me bro. OK, OK I’m taking off, lemme just grab my breakfa…aaaaahh”
What the hell is he munching on, or trying to munch on rather.?
@Seeds Hi. I’m wondering if you were able to confirm that they are, indeed those HP cartridges? I have heard that they look similar but aren’t actually the same. I just bought one of these printers during the latest offering, so it would be really great to know. I definitely don’t want to waste money on the HP ink and then it doesn’t work. Thanks.
@mollymayhem Mine is also clearly a refurb - ink all over the base, no shipping tabs where they should be (fast-start instructions show you where to remove all the shipping tabs, but they had long since been removed by the previous owner). Contacted meh a couple days ago when it arrived, but haven’t heard back yet. I definitely didn’t expect a used product.
Hmmm mine has ink on the base but none obvious anywhere else… Cord was not wrapped professionally or anything, but ink cartridge is unopened…still have to test it…
@mollymayhem Same thing here, box was a wreck and clearly opened, the power adapter just strewn in there with no tie. and ink all over the base. Haven’t tested but playing with the wheels on the bottom I noticed one was hard to move. So if you have that issue you can slide the rubber up or down to center it.
@mollymayhem I, too, suspect mine was not new as the charger cord was just thrown in and no film separating the battery charger and was expecting new. Battery was dead, but charged okay. Ink cartridge was sealed. Works okay for now. Should have read contents, though, as no ribbon holder came with the contents.
@mollymayhem@RiotDemon No. New merchandise does not get tested. Plus, that in itself would make it not new. Even if an item is used for only a second it is considered used
@GirlPleeeeze@mollymayhem testing it doesn’t make it a not new item. Dishwashers will have water in the lines because they water test them to make sure nothing leaks. Same thing. Still a new item.
I’m not saying that was the case here, I was asking.
same, mine was used too…said I could not register it because it was already registered! seems to be a sensitive enough object that refurb should have been shared. I got it to work though…it is def a rabbit hole object that could be thrown out the window after a two hour session but so far intriguing. And I worry re what @Kensai said that if I turn it off the inkjet will get clogged…I did load my logo into it though feeling accomplished cuz I am old
@heartfeltsf I’ve turned mine on and off several times and it hasn’t clogged. It supposed to have an auto cleaner, but haven’t seen a spray like in the picture. Did your quick start sheet have the SSID and password written in on box 12 of the quick start sheet? Also, does anyone know what plugs in on the back of the hand device?
I’ve spent about an hour so far and can’t get it to pair with the Android app. I tried downloading the PC app, but it appears to only support the more advanced model.

This is absolutely awesome! You could definitely throw that in one of my IRKs and I wouldn’t be offended
LEGOS! EGGOS! STRATEGO! AWESOME!
This is awesome. I can’t tell if it’s even remotely useful, and that it showed up here implies the manufacturer will be discontinuing their app for it any second, but man I want one. Has anyone figure out how to hax them so they don’t need the app to work?
VAN GOGH! MANGO! TANGO! AWESOME!
@yeppers Or discontinuing the ink cartridges.
@cbl_wv Apparently they’re secretly HP 62XL ink cartridges, so that model of ink cartridge might last for a while? It looks like there are some clones on Amazon too: https://www.amazon.com/Pekoko-Portable-Printer-Handheld-Multi-Coloured/dp/B083W3DTTN/ (but twice the price of the one here).
Eye could use this for my Etsy experiment.
@whomeyesu
What are you selling in Etsy and what kind of experiment are you doing?
@Lynnerizer Going to print custom images or such on certain particular items. Just got around to charging this thing last night. Ready to start experimenting soon.
@whomeyesu
Hows it going with the printing, anything groovy and interesting to show us yet and what are you going to do with your masterpieces?
@Lynnerizer Haven’t even installed the software yet. Its still sitting on the counter charging. Although, now knowing its washable without clear coating over it was additional work I wasn’t aware of nor looking forward to. So, my experimental projects were put off after discovering such.
Seems like a good discount… reviews seem like it has it’s fair share or quirks.
(it does look pretty awesome though)
Looks like the ink is $40 on Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08TMX6W2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_J1GEM6PN9QJ837F80YY6
@Euniceandrich well… crap.
/giphy magnetic-prominent-wind
I swear all of yesterday was things i was interested in and then this was an instant buy for my wife.
P.S. I wanted the doll for myself not my wife.
Really tempted here.
I’m…kinda trying to think why I would need something to substitute for my own hand if I have the actual item in front of me. Maybe for untraceable graffiti? Otherwise, this is kinda the opposite of the route I find myself going.
Huh, really mixed reviews on Amazon, but it’s also $269.97 on Amazon. It can be kind of crappy for $79. So tempted!

I wonder if you can print on skin like the Prinker thing.
@ChompyGator Instant cheap tattoos? One of the scenarios in the Amazon video said the ink was erasable (?).
@ChompyGator they are very clear that you should never use this on skin as the inkjet printhead gets very hot while printing.
@ChompyGator @curtise temporary tattoo, instant 3rd degree burns?
@ChompyGator @curtise @muzztime permanent tattoo
@ChompyGator @curtise @muzztime @peabs007 Quick and easy Ink for IRK?
@ChompyGator @curtise @mossygreen @muzztime @peabs007 it could really up your personal brand.
If it could print shipping labels, it would be exceptionally useful.
@ShotgunX Blurb mentioned it could print QR codes.
@ShotgunX I agree with you, but sadly the e-mark Create has all the business features disabled, meaning that you can’t use the other e-mark app that would let you do things like auto-date, or sequential print numbers, or do barcodes or QR codes. @ShotgunX Yes, you could print the label to return this item.
Well this is one of those silly things I wanted to buy at a reasonable price years ago.

What to do, what to do…
@k4evryng you can always use inkjet ink fixative sprays on your projects, which basically provide a waterproof coating over top of the ink.
@curtise Thank you!
I’ve never heard of that before. I know heat setting can work with some inks, but a spray seems much easier and safer than high heat on leather, lol! I’ll see what kind of ink fixatives I can find.
If you ship out stuff and use that brown paper tape, this looks like a fun way to personalize your tape.
It also looks like a fun way to block dust from a palm-size section of a shelf.

What sucks is I just canceled my membership yesterday because it’s been ages since I used it. And now I want this, but I would have to pay for a whole new membership even though my last charge was just a few days ago. MEHHHH!!!
@susanrm if you canceled without using the benefits, I think your last charge got refunded. Or is that not how it works?
@susanrm
I got my use out of it with my “The Rock” Votive Candles and Keanu Tote Bag.
Missed all the IRKs due to a crappy connection this time though.
Meh my make a few bucks but normally the members only IRKs make up for it.
@robthedude05 I never do the IRKs. I have enough crap. I need stuff I can actually use.
@djslack no, the TOS say that it’s canceled immediately and you will not be charged with any part of the month you had already used. I thought it was actually a forward charge, so I’m confused. @GirlPleeeeze @Seeds the video in this post on the other thread says they are not the same.
@djslack @Seeds I saw that too, but I wasn’t sure if they were talking about the same cartridge. Thanks.
Got mine today, and it is definitely used. There’s ink all over the inside. I wasn’t aware these were refurbished. Is that normal?
@mollymayhem condition says new, so no. Contact meh.com/support
I just wonder if they test them and that’s why there’s ink in it.
@mollymayhem mine had ink too, did yours come with a blue tattered twist tie? Seems to be charging okay so far.
@mollymayhem Mine is also clearly a refurb - ink all over the base, no shipping tabs where they should be (fast-start instructions show you where to remove all the shipping tabs, but they had long since been removed by the previous owner).
