The big concerns for me are ink replacibility and cost of replacements! Answer this, Woo, I mean Meh!
(It’s like $50 at sams club and $60 elsewhere, one cart for all 3 colors, so if you use a ton of red you’re tossing a good blue and yellow for nothin’)
Correction: The video @goldnectarposted below says this is not the 63XL cartridge and is proprietary. The cartridge that they use has labels that look identical to some of the generics I’ve seen on amazon, so I bet if you’ve got one of these and do some digging you can find something.
@rkindnessal I just load labels in my laser printer, peel it off and stick it on the envelope. I have to mail about 3 or 4 envelopes a year or so. I think I bought the labels 15 years ago, the big box of envelopes 20 years ago and forever stamps as needed. I’ve never had to buy new toner yet.
@rkindnessal I saw that review too LOL. Seems to be pretty limited too and has no computer way to make what you want, just the app. Seems like a niche item.
@Kidsandliz The app does allow you to upload a photo; thus, one can create a design, take a pic, then upload to the app. The downside is that the height of a line from the unit is only half an inch. (Small) Details on your pic may be very hard to see.
I got one last time. It’s good for one line prints but I’ve had a hard time lining up multi-line prints (pictures or large font). Prints on wood well and OK on the cloth I’ve tried.
@ParadisePete I haven’t used it a ton and so I can’t say. But if you don’t put it back in the cradle jt gives you a persistent warning to keep the ink from drying up.
@ParadisePete not a ton, but I think the unique use cases are compelling. I work in a university scene shop so labeling the flats in ways that can be painted over is good
@daleyshow The vid looks cool because it’s super fake. Look closely, and you’ll see the device and inks are all superimposed, and the video isn’t showing the device actually being used at all.
I bought one last time…and it is cool! I have only had time to do test prints, but I can see it being really handy in the future.
My one concern is that there is no windows app. I don’t “do” art on my phone or tablet. The phone is just too small. Maybe on a tablet, again no time to play right now, it will be fine. Just a note to be aware…it worked fine on the phone!
I’ve wanted one of these since I first saw one a few years ago, but balked at the price. Like, okay, it looks fun and cool, but over $200 for a new toy that will most likely hang out in my craft storage area (aka garage) for most of its life? And it didn’t help when I pointed this really neat thing out to my husband and he just gave me the look. (If you’ve been with the same person for any length of time, you know the look.)
@lisaviolet so hit buy and when he finds out it likely will be too late to cancel the order. That part will not be your fault… just sayin’ … probably then though you will need to run for cover.
As others have pointed out, a bunch of people who ordered this last time got returns even though it was claimed to be new, just like today. Can anyone from Meh confirm that these are really, actually new and not refurbs?
I’ve been researching labelers lately, and I saw these but no way was I spending that much money on one. It is a small miracle that I hadn’t already ordered a Brother P-Touch, or similar, and honestly, that’s only because I got side tracked a couple times the past week before actually placing an order. Obviously I am very glad that that happened. I am so excited to get the purchase. If this works out well, it’s much more fun than a boring old P-Touch. My only regret is that I chose the white instead of the black. I don’t know why I did that.
/giphy icy-repulsive-hall
I don’t like living with regret. I switched to black.
Okay, so Meh staffers/sourcers, can you please source the non-Create version for me for next time you sell these? The regular e-mark (not e-mark Create) usually goes for about $10 more and has all the neat businessy features (like sequentially increasing numbering, auto-dated stickers like PAID - 1May2021 and whatnot, USB connectivity, and three saved printjobs on-device) that would let me actually justify the purchase, while also including all of the Create features as well. It’s just such a better model which is what I would like to buy.
Thank you!
Please, meh, send me a new working unit in an uncrushed box. I spent the weekend making room for this in my storage cabinet (it was pretty disorganized anyway).
It will go on the shelf under the markers (Ohuhu are markers; that entire shelf is filled with coloring supplies - pens, markers, pencils, etc). I have a container for it as well as the accessories I purchase from HSN (printable ribbon from We R Memory Keepers, set of three different widths for $20 and a surprise $10 off of a purchase coupon of $20 or more!) and some accessories from emarkcreate.com.
So, please, send me one that hasn’t been used and is nice and clean and fresh.
@mikibell Yeah, those were kind of neat, but I have no use for them. It’s must me and the hubs.
Did you check the link to the emarkcreate store? They’re cheaper there (looks like most of their stuff is), about a dollar. And the sender is the same seller as on Amazon (Kyng). Which I didn’t bother to check out until I’d paid for my order and the receipt had this:
There was a definite “oh crap, did I just give a scammer my money?” because nowhere on the website did it say anything about kyng. And I didn’t make the purchase through ebay.
But it shipped yesterday, shows movement today.
Your mom was a smart woman. Kids be nuts.
Back in the dinosaur age, I was probably four or five years old and got lost in a department store. Someone must have taken me to the manager as a lost child and my parents said that over the loudspeaker a call came out for the parents of Patricia. Mom and dad looked at each other “could that be our kid?”
Which is their own damned fault for naming me Patricia Dianne and calling me Dianne. Sixty-seven years old and I still get crap about my “legal” name.
A wrist band or Sharpie with my information would have been a huge help.
@lisaviolet I seriously thought my mom was nuts! Then I took my kids to the fair and for a moment looked away…and gone was my evil 3 year old!! When we went to disney, we luggage tagged them… Had them wear the info on a lanyard
I will check out the links… I couldnt find the ribbon guides on hsn, just washi tape guides…
@lisaviolet I contacted the seller because my order seemed stuck at USPS. CS replied back asking for the order number (which was in the subject line!). I repeated the order number on my response back. Then today, I received a refund for the ribbon guides, but not for my other item. Same here with no word from them. I wrote back asking status and reason for refund. Does not look good.
Looked at the Amazon link and was wondering if it may wind up going through the same vendor.
@lisaviolet@mikibell Oh my! I’m sorry for you, but at least now I don’t feel so bad having paid 3x as much, even though it’s outrageous. That’s supply and demand for ya. I also ordered the guides and I received those right away. My ruler is coming from another country, so taking a little longer, but it does show as shipped.
@lisaviolet@mikibell One more bit of good news for me. When I purchased the ruler on Amazon the other day I paid $33.57. I just sent and checked current price, and it dropped almost $10.00, so I called Amazon and they credited me the $10.00 difference. Now I feel much better about my purchase. I recommend anyone who wants to buy it may want to grab it now before they hike the price back up, which they often do after lowering it.
@GirlPleeeeze@lisaviolet I got the ribbon guides and the ribbon – one of you bought a roll out from my cart!! going to try it this weekend. I think my design is ok but darn it is hard to see on my phone. I have to remember to load this software on my tablet!!!
I got my guides and stuff, now waiting on the ruler to shop from Australia. Supposed to be here next week.
I haven’t done anything with it yet, but I did get the taxes done and the continuous ink system installed (finally!) in the replacement printer I got on eBay last year.
@lisaviolet@mikibell If I remember correctly, I read that the windows app is only for the professional model.
I received my ruler from Australia very quickly, and am now just waiting on my replacement printer from meh. They were wonderful, as always. I love this site so much. I also had purchased the ribbon guides and some continuous labels to put through them, but I don’t know how well that is going to work now that I’ve tried (quickly) pulling it through the guide. I’m going to have to really try it out once I have a printer to try it with.
When we went to disney, we luggage tagged the kids
That (luggage tags) is a good idea. And is better than permanent tattoos - although I had threatened my kid with that. On her forehead. It was going to read “My name is X; My mom’s name is Y”. As a 12 year old she was horrified. LOL. She wasn’t sure if she should believe me or not since she knew I generally meant what I said.
When I brought my almost 10 year old back from Cambodia and the 18 mo old I was escorting I attached tags to them too (I sewed them on their shirts in the middle of their backs to make it harder to pull them off). Their tags had their name, my name, language they spoke and I spoke along with my photo and our flight info. My kid, when she wasn’t enamored with the moving sidewalks and escalators, thought hide and seek in the Hong Kong airport (we were there 6pm-midnight) was a fun idea. At one point she was carrying the semi sleeping 18 mo old in the front carrier and was trying to catch me looking away for a sec to hide behind support pillars. Fortunately for me both kids slept most of the way across the pacific ocean (that is why I chose a night flight crossing).
Just got mine. Condition is not new. The package was bulging because it wasn’t put back in correctly and the charging deck is stained with ink. It is already registered so I can’t connect to it with the emark app. And the print head leaks ink badly.
Whew! I was getting worried about the condition this would be in. Not only from what I’ve been reading here, but our Fedex deliveries get here like someone likes to play Hulk (Hulk smash!) with our shipments. (Crushed boxes of Fancy Feast. Messy.)
It looks pretty good, I know that it’s not brand new in box (one of the things listed in the set up wasn’t there), but it doesn’t look like it was used. Like someone got it, tried to set up and just said “nope” and returned it.
Legitimately angry at the software limitations of this thing.
I bought it for marking serial numbers on things, printing dates, etc.
That’s limited to the slightly higher end model, and this one is restricted to “light, fun, home uses like cards and food labels” by the app.
It feels like a scheme to manufacture ewaste by artificial market segmentation.
@lisaviolet Now I am really upset. I finally got a chance to set up and try this thing today, only to find out in the app that my login and password are located in the instructions! So basically this thing is useless. And now I’ve already spent over $60 on accessories. I hope that they can get me a replacement or I am going to flip.
@GirlPleeeeze Go to that set up link. It gives you a way to get that info.
Make sure you have your Quick Set Up Guide handy before you start as it contains your e-mark access data (SSID and password). If you have lost the Quick Setup Guide, don’t worry, you can recover your SSID and password by making the first imprint with your e-mark, which includes the required information.
@lisaviolet I did use your link. Thank you for that, but as I said above I didn’t get a set up guide. I don’t even know how I can start it without that info. It tells me I need it to continue. I don’t know how to get past that on the set up process.
@lisaviolet omg. Thank you! After thinking about what you wrote, I just decided to try swiping the machine and lo and behold, that’s what it printed! Thank you again. You are a life saver. I’ve been having an awful day today, where everything that could go wrong has, so I really appreciate this.
@lisaviolet well, that was short lived. Now I know why this unit was returned. I have tried 4 times now, and it cannot find a connection. I’m so annoyed. This certainly was not the experience I envisioned when I purchased this. I just hope they can remedy it for me.
@lisaviolet I’m done. I’ve absolutely had it now. I have my whole entire home set up as a smart home. Did it all myself. Installed home security system by myself, etc. I am very good at electronics. I’m the person everyone calls when they need help, especially with things like wifi, etc. Anyway, I said you know what… Let me try one more time. So I took the machine out and went through the all the paces, all the links above, etc etc blah blah blah, and then I look over and my machine has tipped onto my new $350.00 duvet cover, staining it blue yellow and pink, plus the actual duvet inside. I have used the best stain removers there are, and it won’t come out. I’m done. Thank you for trying to help, but this thing is a piece of crap and this is exactly why this unit was returned. It’s faulty. I am extremely upset that I was sold a used, faulty device instead of what it said I was getting, which was a new one. I am so upset about my duvet now. It’s in the wash, but it doesn’t look good. I have contacted meh and hope they can do right by me. Have a nice night.
@GirlPleeeeze I am so sorry it’s not working for you and even worse than when you started.
What a nightmare. I hope Meh does the right thing for you.
You’re poor duvet and cover. I remember having nice things. (With as many cats as we’ve rescued over the years, you don’t find too many nice things around here.) I would feel sick if something like that happened.
@lisaviolet Trust me, I am definitely not rich (which is why it was so upsetting, and also partly why I shop at meh, although in the long run that last part has back fired since I seem to end up buying things that I otherwise wouldn’t have, like this! Lol). This duvet was a big splurge for me, and def out of the ordinary.
I am happy to report that the ink on my duvet lightened significantly after a LOT of elbow grease and a couple of washes. I am feeling better about it and am just avoiding the dryer until it is hopefully completely gone. I’m relieved that there is a a good chance now anyway.
@cinoclav@GirlPleeeeze@lisaviolet And I think RIT dye also has a dye remover - BUT be careful as it might remove the dye you want there in the duvet cover, not just the stain. Might try a Q tip to apply it just to the stain after a tiny test on the duvet actual cover color to see if it does remove that dye that you don’t want to remove. Been years since I used that so have forgotten the directions, but I found it was useful.
@GirlPleeeeze@lisaviolet hmmmm test print worked fine… Tried on ribbon, blue stopped working. I obviously don’t have the hang of it yet… Don’t have time to troubleshoot today! I have only done two small test prints so I shouldn’t be out of any ink!
@lisaviolet Well, I got totally, completely screwed. Just got an email from meh saying that they are refunding me now. So I’m out over $50.00 for accessories that I can’t use. I’m so beyond pissed.
@lisaviolet I just realized it was over $60.00. If they would have done this sooner, at least I could have returned every accessory I ordered from Amazon U.S. ($35+ dollars) and only been out the $20+ for the guide we ordered from another country. Now I can’t return any of them because it’s been too long.
@GirlPleeeeze Contact Amazon or the seller. Explain that you haven’t used anything and you were waiting for the replacement printer. But it was no longer in stock.
Mine arrived, used. Not new as described. Ink all over the plate. The instruction booklet had some kind of food/drink spillage stain on it as well, gross. However, it did have a brand new ink cartridge with it. Wish me luck.

I can’t wait to see the tattoo gun version.
@Gumby Well I am sure the tattoo gun version will make this crowd happy if it comes preloaded with the template for “meh.”, a cracked flask, irk and glen.
Same model as earlier in April?
https://meh.com/forum/topics/colop-e-mark-create-portable-handheld-printer
@Euniceandrich that’s 661107, this is 661107 and 661109 (I guess the black one)
OH MY GOD THEY SWIPE’N’PRINTED GLEN!!!
Thank you!! I’m never mixing up the twins again!
@hafner Wait, is that actual children or the popular euphemism?
The big concerns for me are ink replacibility and cost of replacements! Answer this, Woo, I mean Meh!
(It’s like $50 at sams club and $60 elsewhere, one cart for all 3 colors, so if you use a ton of red you’re tossing a good blue and yellow for nothin’)
@Tom it’s an hp something or other ink cartridge. It was discussed in the previous offering thread.
Your observation on color use is true.
HP 62XL. If you take a chance on remanufactured cartridges, $30 https://smile.amazon.com/Inktopia-Remanufactured-Replacement-Cartridges-Officejet/dp/B082C7HM7B/
@djslack Still doesnt really seem worth it to me
Correction: The video @goldnectar posted below says this is not the 63XL cartridge and is proprietary. The cartridge that they use has labels that look identical to some of the generics I’ve seen on amazon, so I bet if you’ve got one of these and do some digging you can find something.
Looks like this thing has a ton of uses, but I cannot think of any I absolutely have to have.
That is alot of money to address an envelope for snail mail
@rkindnessal you could also address snails directly, at least the ones that are large enough.
None of the Amazon reviews that actually paid full price for the thing are better than 3 stars.
@trent Yeah and the fake 1 sentence reviews are pretty obvious.
I got one last time. It’s good for one line prints but I’ve had a hard time lining up multi-line prints (pictures or large font). Prints on wood well and OK on the cloth I’ve tried.
@jrpmcafee how long does the ink cartridge last? They’re expensive.
@ParadisePete I haven’t used it a ton and so I can’t say. But if you don’t put it back in the cradle jt gives you a persistent warning to keep the ink from drying up.
@jrpmcafee Thanks. It seems like a pretty nice gadget, but it probably wouldn’t get used too often.
@ParadisePete not a ton, but I think the unique use cases are compelling. I work in a university scene shop so labeling the flats in ways that can be painted over is good
@jrpmcafee I’m tempted.
Does anyone know the largest font this unit will print
@rkwilcox about 32pt on a line. You can do larger and split it across 3 lines but I’ve had trouble lining up multi-line prints.
Just an FYI, several people, including me, did not get a new unit from the April stock (at least it wasn’t packaged like new…)
They missed a chance to photoshop these in place of Darth Vader’s and a storm trooper’s head.
@mehcuda67 …so did you.
They do kind of have that look, though. I bet it would be a good photoshop.
We got one last time, it’s cool, but make sure what ever you want to print on is porous
The vid looks pretty cool. I wish I could think of a reason I could possibly use this thing, but…
@daleyshow The vid looks cool because it’s super fake. Look closely, and you’ll see the device and inks are all superimposed, and the video isn’t showing the device actually being used at all.

Does it print on glass?
Looks like the cartridge is just a rebranded HP 63, anyone tried substituting it to see if they could get cheaper refills?

I’ve wanted one of these since I first saw one a few years ago, but balked at the price. jk switched to black
Here’s a pretty extensive review and demonstration I found:
After watching it, maybe I’ll pick one up for my sister’s b-day? I’ll think about it. Seems pretty neat, though.
@goldnectar It is a neat little unit. Be aware that this Meh offering only gets you the unit and cord. You will not get the ribbon holders, case, etc.
@goldnectar Thank you for this. Really helped me make my decision

The create link has the guides. I didn’t find the ecreate link on Google at all, but by going to the colop website and looking for dealers.
@lisaviolet @mikibell
Here are the ribbon guides:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08R112SMY?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image

@lisaviolet @mikibell I am so mad now! I searched Google like crazy and couldn’t find the U. S. site. Oh well!
@GirlPleeeeze I didn’t find it on google. When I was researching them on the colop website there was a map for dealers.
I found it strange they didn’t show up during a google search. I first posted the link in the entry with my storage cabinet above.
@GirlPleeeeze @lisaviolet I am waiting for payday to order anything…
@GirlPleeeeze @mikibell Well, just damn.
I bought stuff from the ecreate website, got a notice with a tracking number on May 3. No movement since.
It does show on the USPS website as having been accepted.
So, I contact USPS (just got a form response) and ecreate (no response). So, I went to the paypal page and used the seller address there.
I just got a notice they refunded $19.98 to my paypal account. The cost of the guide set and ruler.
No explanation, no comments, just sent money. Nothing about the other stuff I’d ordered.
I’m beginning to think customer service isn’t their strong point.
New link to amazon (guide set): https://www.amazon.com/COLOP-Mark-Ribbon-Guides-039206/dp/B08R112SMY

@DTominator I ordered the guide set, supposed to be here tomorrow. Will update.
@DTominator @lisaviolet i bought the guides from amazon with no problem… glad I had to wait for payday to order anything else!

@lisaviolet @mikibell One more bit of good news for me. When I purchased the ruler on Amazon the other day I paid $33.57. I ordered the ruler on Amazon yesterday afternoon. Like you said, it was cheaper than before. It’s already shipped, will be here on May 27.
Nice to hear you got a credit.
@lisaviolet @mikibell Oh that’s good. Why am I so excited to get it? Lol
@GirlPleeeeze @lisaviolet I got the ribbon guides and the ribbon – one of you bought a roll out from my cart!! going to try it this weekend. I think my design is ok but darn it is hard to see on my phone. I have to remember to load this software on my tablet!!!
@GirlPleeeeze @mikibell There an app for windows. I don’t know how good it is, but here’s the link: https://emark.colop.com/e-mark/downloads/software-app-printer-driver-download
I got my guides and stuff, now waiting on the ruler to shop from Australia. Supposed to be here next week.
I haven’t done anything with it yet, but I did get the taxes done and the continuous ink system installed (finally!) in the replacement printer I got on eBay last year.
Next up, the little printer thingy.
@lisaviolet @mikibell If I remember correctly, I read that the windows app is only for the professional model.
@lisaviolet @mikibell
Same here. Not happy!
yep got a heavily used stuffed into a box one here too. it didn’t say anything about these being second-hand??
I didn’t have any problem with registering it.
Thanks, guys.
My emark was also not new, as was clear by the way it was put in the box, and it is missing the instructions/set up guide. I thought these were new?
@GirlPleeeeze If you haven’t already, here’s a link to the setup procedure.
@lisaviolet Thank you so much
@lisaviolet Now I am really upset.
@GirlPleeeeze You have the app on your phone or tablet, right? And on the same wifi as the create?
@GirlPleeeeze https://emark.colop.com/faq/index.php?action=artikel&cat=4&id=34&artlang=en
Maybe that will help. Step by step wifi setup.
@GirlPleeeeze I’m glad to hear that you were able to save the duvet cover and duvet. I was hoping that would be the case.
@GirlPleeeeze @lisaviolet Give the Carbona Stain Devils a shot. They make a variety for different types of stains, including one for ink.
@cinoclav @GirlPleeeeze @lisaviolet And I think RIT dye also has a dye remover - BUT be careful as it might remove the dye you want there in the duvet cover, not just the stain. Might try a Q tip to apply it just to the stain after a tiny test on the duvet actual cover color to see if it does remove that dye that you don’t want to remove. Been years since I used that so have forgotten the directions, but I found it was useful.
@lisaviolet It didn’t come out of the duvet, but that’s okay. It’s always covered anyway.
@GirlPleeeeze @lisaviolet hmmmm test print worked fine… Tried on ribbon, blue stopped working. I obviously don’t have the hang of it yet… Don’t have time to troubleshoot today! I have only done two small test prints so I shouldn’t be out of any ink!
@lisaviolet @mikibell oh no! Oof. That doesn’t sound/look good. I haven’t gotten my replacement yet.
@lisaviolet Well, I got totally, completely screwed. Just got an email from meh saying that they are refunding me now. So I’m out over $50.00 for accessories that I can’t use. I’m so beyond pissed.
@lisaviolet Oh, but they gave me a $5.00 coupon. Lol So messed up.
Maybe they’ll work with you. It can’t hurt.
Or maybe someone here would want them.
That really sucks.
Mine arrived, used. Not new as described. Ink all over the plate. The instruction booklet had some kind of food/drink spillage stain on it as well, gross. However, it did have a brand new ink cartridge with it. Wish me luck.
