there’s a national park (https://www.nps.gov/cuva/index.htm)
down on the waterfront, in between the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame(and museum), and First Energy Stadium(where the Browns Play), there’s the Great Lakes Science Center…(https://greatscience.com/)
That exhausts my knowledge…
it’s only 3 hrs away, and i’ve only been to the city like 3 times in my life.
OH!
There’s the House From “A Christmas Story”…
(https://www.achristmasstoryhouse.com/)
@tinamarie1974 you can even stay there.
Prices on the site. The real WTF is the pricing for Christmas. It requires 2 days, (24th&25th) for a mere…$3995.( $4995 for 2022)
And no, I didn’t forget the decimals…
I grew up there. The Cleveland Museum of Art (university circle, not the contemporary art museum also there) has an amazing asian art collection.
Some people like Italian food and thus like the Little Italy area (also near university circle - if I recall near or on Murray Hill - and Case Western Reserve University).
As someone else said there is a bunch of stuff near the waterfront and on the near west side.
On a map you can see all the cultural stuff on University Circle, if you are interested in that kind of thing.
I don’t know if you like amusement parks and if it is open then but Cedar Point in Sandusky (just west of Cleveland) is a pretty good amusement park.
A piece of trivia - Cedar Hill (and Murray Hill) is the last foot hill of the Appalachian Mountains. I used to ride my bike both up and down them both going to and from my summer job while in college at CWRU. Took me about 3 weeks to be able to ride all the way up that hill and not have to get off to walk.
@Kidsandliz thanks! I’ve been trying to see what museums would be best. I love amusement parks, so cedar point might be a thing depending on the weather, I guess.
@RiotDemon Well that’s sad. Of course it is Cleveland and it could be cold or there could be snow although in the last 15 or so years that is far less likely. I don’t think there has been a white christmas up there in the snow belt no less for years.
@RiotDemon Many years ago the natural history museum had the recipe to shrink heads by two shrunken human heads they had there. I remember seeing that as a kid and using it to threaten a younger sibling who was being a PITA. I don’t think they have had that exhibit up for decades though. I’d suspect having someone’s head on display was finally flagged due to lack of respect for the dead.
@replicacobra@RiotDemon Well it depends upon which side of Cleveland you are coming from. Come from the airport and it isn’t that far, come from the far east side and it is much further since Cleveland and it’s associated suburbs are spread out along the lake.
@replicacobra@RiotDemon I just looked it up. From University Circle where the museums are and Case Western Reserve University (which is on the near east side of Cleveland) to Cedar Point it is 66 miles and 1 hour 11 min. From the airport to cedar point it is 58 minutes and 53 miles. So that is not a couple of hours.
@replicacobra@RiotDemon It can take more than an hour to drive from the far east side of Cleveland to the far west side. Or with Boston, NY, a ton of cities in CA, Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, and infinity and beyond. LOL
I really liked the 27 club coffee shop and breakfast. There is a horror themed restaurant that seemed cool too but reservations were not many. The Asian lantern festival at the zoo was great too. Just got back from Cleveland at the start of the month. Wish I could have explored more.
Rock hall is fun if you’re into that sort of thing. The science museum next door is decent, they have an Apollo capsule that flew an orbital mission. That’s cool to see.
The (indoor) rainforest at the zoo is pretty good, as is the natural history museum. Adequate aquarium (not at zoo).
The symphony is world class.
I’ve never been to the newfangled jacobs field (it’s only like 25 years old, I am still nostalgic for the true shithole that was Cleveland municipal stadium). But I’m told it’s a good place to see a baseball game. If you hurry you might catch them before they switch to their new stupid name, instead of their current racist one.
The West Side (food) Market is cool if you’re into that sort of thing. IIRC great lakes brewing company is right near there. They make some decent beers and have a brewpub if you’re hungry.
@danpritts Great Lakes is right across the street and Market Garden is right next door. Great Lakes also has a brewery/bar/shop you can tour that’s basically in the parking lot of the West Side Market.
We lived in Cleveland Heights for a few years when I was a kid (long ago). I liked gawking at all the huge houses whenever we drove through Shaker Heights.
I think, in a lot of the larger, older cities of the Eastern US, on what were the “best residential streets” in the 1800’s, the houses were enormous because the wealthy families often housed so many live-in domestic employees.
In Cleveland? Seriously? Ever since they stopped letting the river catch fire, it’s been cleaner but even more boring than before that.
@werehatrack sometimes the destination is because of people, but then we want to see what else there is to offer.

@earlyre The Christmas Story house would be amazing to see!!

@earlyre @tinamarie1974 4K?!?! Holy cow. At least the museum is affordable!
@earlyre @RiotDemon they had a contest a few years ago. Free Christmas stay! Sadly I did NOT win
@earlyre @tinamarie1974 Ya, should have led with Xmas Story House

@mfladd @tinamarie1974
I honestly forgot about it… It really was a stream of consciousness “Oh!” Like it reads…
@jmoor783 Haha yes. I was going to just reply “both of their buildings.”
@jmoor783 funny enough… I almost booked a trip to Detroit.
Check out the steamers!
@yakkoTDI I wonder if people that live in Cleveland get tired.of that…![:grin:](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f601.png)
@OnionSoup @yakkoTDI No one has ever said it to me and I’ve lived in Cleveland my whole life.
I grew up there. The Cleveland Museum of Art (university circle, not the contemporary art museum also there) has an amazing asian art collection.

@Kidsandliz it’s closed in November.![=(](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f61e.png)

Just west of Cleveland
More like a couple hours
Sandusky road trip

An hour each way
That’s a couple when added
Thanks for confirming

@Kidsandliz @RiotDemon
Have an RC car
With Interstate mileage
From Cleveland traffic
@replicacobra @RiotDemon Haiku fail. You are not going to have more miles with traffic, just use up more time. (grin)
Moon over Parma bring my love to me tonight

@LJeAYsy4LoqxEC horror themed restaurant???
Goes googling.
@LJeAYsy4LoqxEC @RiotDemon
@Kidsandliz @LJeAYsy4LoqxEC I’m guessing it’s this one?
@Kidsandliz @RiotDemon yeah that looks like it! Even locals said that it was pretty popular
@Kidsandliz @LJeAYsy4LoqxEC @RiotDemon The food even looks good.
I hear that place rocks.
@djslack hello Cleveland!

@danpritts I was interested in the science museum! So this is a plus for me.
Sports, not so much.
I’ll look up the zoo!
Thanks!
As you fly in, look for this landmark.

@f00l That sounds reasonable.
