Christmas crap disappointment
3So I scored a Christmas Crap from the "competitor".. no I haven't gotten it yet but I'm not disappointed in what I may or may not get when it arrives. What I'm disappointed in is this email they sent me:
Congratulations on your recent Bag o' Crap purchase from the Crapvent calendar!
Half the fun of receiving a BOC is gloating about it in the forums (we're still trying to figure out the other half), so here's the link to this BOC's forum thread in case you lose it: http://ow.ly/GB33X Go ahead and post your pictures, unboxing videos, rants, and whatever else you feel like sharing. Or don't.
Congrats again on joining the hallowed ranks of Crappists.
So they are practically begging me to do their marketing for them?
Just... seems... wrong. THANK YOU FOR MEH!

Eh it is just the thread for the BoC's and you can say Woot here. Matt isn't that butthurt over it. In fact I doubt he is at all.
Ps if you get a size 13 Muk Luk right foot shoe, let me know.
@Outofmymind @snapster has said he still shops there, so there's that.
You see the part where it said "Or don't."? It's totally optional.
The sharing-what-you-got is how the Woot community was built. You see how that works here too.
@mOONmOON I hope you'll post what you end up getting- I've heard the bags tend a lot more to the actual crap side than the Bag of Crap of yore side.
@dashcloud I got Tommy Bahama sunglasses which I am told are pretty expensive but the rest was pretty crappy.
@dashcloud i've only ever scored two BOCs. First about a year ago and second about a month. First was pretty good quality items. The second was literal crap. The first was worth the money, second didn't even cover the 3 dollars. It was kind of sad to be honest.
@dashcloud I never got a single Bag O' Crap from Woot. Every time I tried, either their server crashed or their payment system denied my transaction.
@danoinct I gave up long ago. Mind you here I am jonesing for a fuku so what's with that?
I have seven of those from the past year (35 so far in total)... it usually is when there is a non-traditional crap where they have the stupid contests, crosswords, guess the number they are thinking of, etc., where there is not a discussion topic already created. I haven't posted in a bit there since ... well I got some steaming piles of crap. But every so often something nice comes out of it (like the Pyrex I got recently) ... lots of good stuff to donate to Goodwill, other people's children, other people, random people, guys who dispose of my trash, etc.
Last bag of crap is still sitting in the box at my office. But at least they are bringing back the monkeys. I love the monkeys. I proposed with a monkey. And yes, if you can google search, you know who I am ;)
@oppodude Do I want to know?
@smoo99 Unless you are interested in people who propose via screaming monkeys, then, no.
@oppodude I remember that. Awesome.
I'm not in the least bit upset that I didn't score the Christmas crap. Considering my last box was so incredibly bad I've pretty much given up on them. If I get one, fine. If I don't, whatever.
@Cinoclav yeah, I had some epic craps back in the day, but my last several were just Dollar Store things. At least the older craps had some entertainment value.
@PocketBrain I think they found a Dime Store for me.
I've gotten quite a few BoCs, in my couple years on Woot. I did manage to get one with a bunch of really good stuff (probably $400 - $500 worth), but other than that it has been mostly crappy crap.
The whole novelty of getting a BoC has worn off, for me. I can't say I won't try, if it's thrown in front of me, because it's fun to take a gamble, but at the same time, if I don't get one, then so be it.
I've gotten 2 BoC's and both have been just crap/junk. Nothing of value whatsoever.
I hope you enjoy your BoC @mOONmOON.
After the wootcrate, the coupon snafu, and one too many mutant Tees, I pulled the plug and haven't looked back. I understand why some stuck around but, for me, it was time to move on while I still had some fond memories left.
The email link is really a necessity because it's getting harder and harder to find the forum for posting your contents since many aren't from a traditional sale page.
It's pre safe to say that Amazon did not really like the idea of a daily deal website.
@Kevin True, but Woot already had something like six different sites and about a dozen side deals each day before Amazon bought it. All Amazon did was complete Woot's devolution into a warehouse sale site for refurbished junk.
Im slightly dissapointed that this was bought on December 25th and still hasnt shipped... They said they had them packaged, but no shipped? Strange.
They send those out so people know where the crap thread is. Especially since they try to hide links so much now, there isn't an easy link from your orders page anymore.
Another person unhappy with their crap (before they even got it!): http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/6baa2195-8483-4652-830e-c56b07cf17bd/why-w00t-why
