@cengland0, No, ceng, it was 31 if you include you & your spouse selling your asses down the river just to pay for some of the high priced shit displayed here yesterday!
We have a woodburning insert in our Family Room, but a gas insert in the Living Room. For the sound, we just say “Alexa, play Fireplace Sounds”. It’s fine.
@vlpronj When I say that she just plays the screams of my victims as they burned alive. I never even told her to record that. I’m thinking of filing a complaint with Amazon customer service when I get out.
@vlpronj@warpedrotors, So, you Are a MAGA [My Ass Got Arrested] man!! LOL!! Are You Locked Up Again, Amigo¿?,Ka-Cling, Ka-Cling!! So, ya Do have a sense of humor, after all,…who knew!! LOL!!
@vlpronj If I ask “Alexa, play Fireplace Sounds” she will probably say “Farting Sounds added to your to-do list”.
I swear, Alexa’s voice recognition skills get worse and worse as time goes by!
The funny thing is though, I’m not sure if it’s my accent, but if I say “My Legs Ache” as one word “malegsache” it wakes Alexa up every time.
Every morning I say “My Legs Ache, what’s the weather like today?” to get the morning forecast.
I found this out one night when my wife asked me how I was feeling (I had been sick), I told her “my legs ache and I have a headache”… Alexa ominously pipped in “Goodbye”. I figure out she thought “My Legs Ache” was “Alexa”… not sure what she heard when I said “and I have a headache” that made her say Goodbye.
@moonhat@vlpronj I have a fairly generic Northern English accent. I grew up near Liverpool but somehow avoided the scouse (Liverpudlian) accent. If I had sounded scouse I wouldn’t even have tried to get Alexa to understand me… All hope would be lost.
@1DisabledWarVet@vlpronj Your obsession with me is sad. It only reinforces the fact that you’re extremely mentally ill and off your meds. Please get the help you need. You’re not funny. You’re not clever. You’re not impressing anyone. You’re mentally ill. Seek help now.
@vlpronj@warpedrotors, when you get outta where, Moron? In my other comment I tried to be nice & civilized, but didn’t know I was dealing with Hannibal Lector, so,!! Smoke That, Ass-Hole!!
@1DisabledWarVet@vlpronj wow. I missed these ones. Do you honestly not see that you’ve lost your mind? I don’t have any mental illness, so I’m not really sure how it works, but yours seems severe enough that it negatively impacts your life on a daily basis, and should at least be noticeable as a problem, even by you. Is there no one in your life that could help you out? Maybe they could crush up your pills in some applesauce or something.
@Kidsandliz@Kyeh@vlpronj That’s like giving me a magic stuffed animal that says something crazy every time you pull the string, and then telling me not to pull the string. Except, in this case, it seems the string only works intermittently, like when he runs out of, or decides not to take his meds.
@1DisabledWarVet@vlpronj@warpedrotors@kyeh Certainly that is true (not read it) although you have to have read far enough to realize that someone/several people is/are engaging in rude, nasty, childish behavior, violating meh’s forum policies while they are at it. For the sake of the tone of the forums not engaging with someone behaving this way by publicly responding in kind would make sense. And by not responding in kind the original poster looks like a bigger idiot/jerk, which can be satisfying.
Of course posting a funny giphy or witty humorous response without being a jerk about it when being attacked is another response that can make people laugh and often helps to defuse the situation/stop the exchange/shut down the other person’s nasty behavior. As a bonus the troll often gets frustrated that they have missed their mark/can’t push your buttons and then has nothing to “justify” further bullying/nastiness. Then if they make another post to try to engage you again they look even more like a jerk.
Although it has stopped recently, there are a couple of folks on here who could be pretty vicious to select others. Once one of those folks made a nasty, bully troll comment off topic to the thread and the recipient responded with something along the lines of: Glad I can assist you in keeping your snark knife sharpened. If you’d like I can put a bigger target on my back to be sure you don’t miss next time. That shut down that troll with respect to attacking that person for several weeks.
@1DisabledWarVet@Kidsandliz@Kyeh@vlpronj Just stop reading whenever you realize it bothers/offends you. I’m sure there will still be plenty of time left in your day. You typed out a whole bunch of words that were unnecessary and will be ignored, which undoubtedly wasted more of your time than reading any of my posts to crazy grandpa did. I’ll continue to post whatever I want to whomever I want, regarding whatever topics I choose, and you can choose to read them fully, partially, or not at all. Then you can subtly mention the forum rules while trying not to sound like you’re tattling on the other kids for being naughty. The man is a mentally ill 73 year old, who constantly posts mostly unintelligible rants and insults, including specifically targeting me over a period of several months, due to some obsession he has after I made a relatively benign comment about his posting style. I choose to engage with him because he can’t bother me, and I know my posts just amp up his crazy to another level, since he refuses to take the proper medications. It’s fun for me to help illustrate just how fucking insane and demented he is, with his crazy rants that have zero basis in reality, and often make zero sense. I’m intentionally making this post longer, because I know you’ll read every word, and your time is very precious to you. This is the internet. If something offends you, look elsewhere. If you don’t want to read something, don’t read it. If you don’t like what I post, don’t cry to me about it. I don’t give half a fuck if you appreciate my posts, think they’re mean or evil, or if they violate forum rules, or if they waste your time. Feel free to take whatever actions you deem necessary and appropriate to deal with my naughty behavior, but don’t think your whiny attempt to change me had any effect, except for maybe slightly encouraging the behavior you don’t like. In short, learn to ignore whatever bothers you, and save your speeches for someone else. Have a good day, and may you never be afflicted with the mental illness of the Vietnam “veteran” that inspired this whole exchange. If you are that crazy someday, please stay off the internet. It won’t help your illness.
Sigh. I took too long on the coffee grinder…had to consult…it sold out. And in my last house would have snapped this up. Plus we got green boots rather than navy blue. Not a good meh day for me.
@cengland0, allow me to clarify what I meant. Most generators are portable & gas operated contraptions, but a Generac is a stationary generator that resembles a central air conditioning unit that usually is set up behind a home like a central air unit & when a home loses power the Generac generator auto-matically switches on. It may store electrical energy, or whatever, but I don’t think it runs on gas. That is why I mentioned both types. Kinda like saying a regular car & an electric car. I admit I am not a genius & was simply makin an innocent comment. I really can not understand why your insults were necessary, but since I offended you, I can only apologize, and just not ever comment to ur posts again. I will say this,…some of y’all are mighty sensitive & have thin skins, but I hardly think I used any derogatory language At All towards you, but will take your reply with a grain of salt {Please, Do Not get the idea that all of your words upset me; it takes a lot more than a bit of sarcasm to ruffle my feathers}. Please, enjoy the rest of your day, man.
@1DisabledWarVet@cengland0 it’s as if you’re trying your best to prove my point for me. Seriously, talk to your doctors and get your prescriptions changed. Either you’re not taking them or they’re not working. It’s sad.
@1DisabledWarVet@cengland0 how did you manage to hit both ends of the manic/depressive spectrum in a few minutes? Take your meds. You’ve been obsessed with me for months now for the exact thing you said doesn’t “ruffle your feathers” in this post. I made one comment about your idiotic posts, and now you’re completely obsessed with me. I understand this is just part of your illness. Please get the help you need.
P.S. Generac is simply one company who makes generators. They have whole home backup types and portable types. Your attempt to explain your initial post, by claiming you meant one thing while stating something else, failed. Please just learn to admit you were wrong and didn’t realize it. Then thank the person who corrected you. You chose the “make a crazy rant about how you’re being persecuted” path, which was more interesting, but ridiculous.
@1DisabledWarVet What the hell, man. I have a hard time believing you thought my comment insulted you (“I really can not understand why your insults were necessary”). I thought my comment was funny and not insulting in any way. If you thought it was insulting, then that is a problem you need to deal with.
Sorry to break the news to you but I’m very familiar with Generac so I don’t need a lecture from you on how they work. I also know they do manufacture regular generators like everyone else such as these portable models: https://www.generac.com/all-products/generators/portable-generators
The whole-house models you’re referring to that Generac sells is not a special feature that only that brand has. Other companies create them too such as:
When you buy a whole-home backup system, you can pick if you want them to run on diesel, regular gas, or propane/natural gas. Could be where your comment, “whatever, but I don’t think it runs on gas” comes from.
I live in a hurricane prone area where electricity may go out for several weeks at a time so I was in the market for one of those whole-home backup generators and that’s why I know so much about them. I also have a gym buddy who works for Generac. I got lucky and they built a rehabilitation/assisted living facility on my electrical grid about a decade ago so I have top priority to get the electricity back on if it ever goes out. It’s never out for more than 3 hours at a time and my two portable generators work fine during those small outages.
@cengland0@warpedrotors, u’re the sad, warped rottened brain-dead pedophile. You even revel in your stupidity. Everyone knows you aren’t the least bit concerned about my mental, or physical health & are just showing all these guys how much ofa tasteless buffoon you are by making fun of a mentally ill veteran. You think you’re cute, but you are merely confusing your fn childish sick attitude with what you think is cute. I will bet any guy here $5,000.00 that You Are One Greasy Fat Ass Fart who has no life to speak of, Are Not married, but if you are, your wife is as Fat as You Are & Both of you live with your Mommy!! My sincere condolences to mom! I’ll also bet she prays every day that y’all fn move out!!
I hope you get ur stimulus ck soon so you can buy some food to stuff that Fat Ass!! Later, Fat Boy!!
@1DisabledWarVet@cengland0 another cute rant to further illustrate your mental illness. I do enjoy seeing you be completely wrong about everything though. Keep lashing out though. Why try to fix the mental problem you acknowledge having? Just enjoy it.
@cengland0, so your initial comment is even harder to understand, but wait,…I just assumed it was a bit of lite sarcasm & did think it was rather funny, but it didn’t too much sound like you thought of my comment in the same way. But, if you’re saying your reply was meant to be funny, then,… My Bad. I took it the wrong way & for that I really do apologize. I did say that I Am No Genius & tried to tell you what I meant, with the limited knowledge I have of the subject at hand. I never said that Generac produced these type of generators exclusively, nor that they did not produce other types of them. What You know about these generators and about this subject’s Very impressive & I am admittedly impressed!
As you can see, Mr Warped-whoever’s obsessed with just trying hard to be a thorn in my side & keeps projecting his sickness,…but enough about that fart. I just wanted to admit I mistook what you said, took it completely the wrong way & I was somewhat idiotic in my assumptions, so I’m sorry. I’ll try to remember how intelligent you are when I read one of your post & will remember you don’t need my dumb input to your remarks. You have a great weekend & stay safe!!
@cengland0@warpedrotors, This reply is only to warped-rotors!! You’re fn doing like Cheeto use to do!🥴< You’re Deflecting & Projecting your traits, sickness, problems & anxiaties unto others!! Everybody knows ur sick game,…just so go away 'B-atch!!
Almost bought this yesterday from sidedeals with the 20% off code where it would have been $80 but in the end didn’t because I couldn’t find a frame for it anywhere and didn’t know what safety precautions to take if building one for myself.
@OnionSoup I just got a tv stand a few weeks ago with one of these in it although it had the traditional logs, not the glass crystals. It was held into the cabinet by 4 small screws, and there was a border on the frame (metal) of about an inch all the way around it. The back was open, and I didn’t see any foil or other insulation around it for heat protection. Probably since this puts all the heat out through the vents in the front. I’d be fairly sure installation instructions would give you safety instructions or the mfr could.
As a side note I needed a replacement insert and the mfr was all out for the season-so these may be end of season leftovers-at any rate buying one by itself was about 3x this price. I do not care for the glass crystal look, but it is a deal. If you’re thinking about putting one in you won’t find it cheaper.
@beagleboy99 thank you. Yes it was the unknown of what I could/couldn’t do that stopped me. What you’ve said, is what I would have guessed but wasn’t sure.
I know they’re supposed to be a lot safer than gas or wood fireplaces (and much safer than space heaters) so it would make sense that the heat only comes out the front. (Especially since some people set them into the wall).
I’d still be tempted to buy, but now the misses.says it’s not big enough for her (the electric fireplace that is).
Note that the 2nd picture is not this unit but one with the traditional log look base. This one is listed with the cheesy (contemporary) glass bead base. Still a great deal
Although the instruction manual shows both logs and crystals-maybe both are there? Hard to tell from the pictures. And note-no remote control on this one
In the 1960s we had a cardboard fireplace with a lightbulb topped with a spinning piece of metal to simulate flames. The good old days! Stared at it for hours!
Good thing, since it says not to be used as the main source of heat, that I will have a very big, free, outdoor main source of heat coming up this summer. That source freely ports heat inside with or without the windows open.
If I bought this fake fire thing, I’d have to build a fake fireplace to put it in and a fake chimney to let the fake smoke out and a fake family to sit around it while telling fake tales of our fake family fun. Seems like a LOT more work than I really want to put into… well, ANYTHING from Meh, really.
@wickhameh Damn really? Cause preschooler art projects are absolute garbage! My nephew tried to give me some of that bullshit the other day as a “gift he made just for me”. His mom never shuts up about his having artism and the ‘special care’ required fof artistic children, how expensive it is, and the like. She is clearly wasting her money. No structure, awful blending technique, no axial lines to draw the eye or gauge perspective, no adherence to a particular school of art theory, color blending that could be mistaken for the floor of a leper colony’s butcher shop, the list goes on. I took one look at it, and his beaming face and smacked it out of his hands so hard the macaroni and glue he was probably eating and spilled on it came flying off like shrapnel and I broke one of his wrists, which is good because now he won’t be cranking out that dumpster fire ‘art’ and calling it a ‘gift’. Probably not for some time, if the pediatric orthopedic surgeon and his 13 titanium screws are correct at least.
Now that he owes me both a real gift and a thank you for teaching him a life lesson, he might try to get me this since Meh is only 3 letters and the little douche can barely read, but I’ll be ready. Thanks for the warning!
@sleuth you can run it without heat… just for the visuals. Plus, I know it does occasionally get a little cool there. It was fairly cool last time I was there.
We were hoping it looked better than the pics and it did . Wanted a tempory summer cover up for my real fireplace, so with a little bit of spare plywood and a 6×6 for the base a little black paint and blends right it, wife is really happy and she is generally not a fan of fake fireplaces. One regret it’s now on morning save for $69.
Got mine from Sidedeal, or Morningsave, or whatever… Bought it because it said it was wall mountable, but don’t see how that’s possible at all. The rounded flange suggests it would need to be recessed in a wall about 4.5", but the intake vent for the heater is on the back and top, so if recessed it would have no airflow, and/or be sucking in crap from the wall.

What? No Mophie-thon?
Were there only 29 items yesterday or were there 30 and I missed one?
@cengland0 Yes.
@cengland0 indeed.
@cengland0 Can confirm.
@cengland0 I only saw 3 before I forgot all about it. Were there only 3?
@cengland0, No, ceng, it was 31 if you include you & your spouse selling your asses down the river just to pay for some of the high priced shit displayed here yesterday!
Not that hot of a deal.
One of the most interesting items I have seen offered on this site!
@glarue, it’s cheap too,…if your rich!!
I thought this was made by Cuisinart until the second time I refreshed the page.
Don’t blend it.
We have a woodburning insert in our Family Room, but a gas insert in the Living Room. For the sound, we just say “Alexa, play Fireplace Sounds”. It’s fine.

@1DisabledWarVet @Kidsandliz @vlpronj it’s pretty easy not to read something. Even after you start, if you then realize you’re reading it, you can stop.
@Kidsandliz @vlpronj @warpedrotors
warpedrotors, maybe you could just refuse to engage too… like the chapter of the kid’s book that F00l just posted in the RIP thread:
https://meh.com/forum/topics/rip-2021-q1
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @vlpronj That’s like giving me a magic stuffed animal that says something crazy every time you pull the string, and then telling me not to pull the string. @OnionSoup @vlpronj “My head aches” could be distorted into “Goodnight”.
OH MY GOD THEY ROASTED GLEN!!!
@shahnm Those Bastards!!
For the record, and for the powers that be, I rather enjoyed the mehrathon variation yesterday, and its languid pace.
I didn’t actually buy anything, but I enjoyed it
I could easily see enjoying other variations, suck as other manufacturers, or even genre-based, like a sports theme.
Sigh. I took too long on the coffee grinder…had to consult…it sold out. And in my last house would have snapped this up. Plus we got green boots rather than navy blue. Not a good meh day for me.
@eeterrific Check out robson’s comment on the coffee grinder thread - it will make you feel better! Evidently it’s not good, and very noisy.
@eeterrific @Kyeh Is there a quiet option? I’m not saying I’ll punch my wife in the morning, but the one she uses is really loud.
@eeterrific @warpedrotors
I don’t have one, so I don’t know.
No video?
@rmeden I see a video.
@cengland0 I meant of the “fireplace” in action
Is that 23 inch diagnally like a TV?
@dotyj no. Diagonal would be more than 23".
“Measures: 23.58” wide x 20.08" high x 5.12" deep"
If this was gas, I’d get it. I need a fireplace insert, but if the electricity goes out, this one won’t help a bit.
@Tadlem43 buy yourself a generator, or a GENERAC for those power-less days.
@1DisabledWarVet Isn’t a Generac a specific brand of generator? So saying buy a generator or a Generac seems a little redundant.
I remember seeing a sign at a lake: Do not feed the birds or ducks.
Your comment reminds me of that sign for the same reason.
@1DisabledWarVet @cengland0 he has mental “issues.”

@cengland0 @warpedrotors,
@cengland0 @warpedrotors,
@1DisabledWarVet @cengland0 you’re completely unhinged.
@1DisabledWarVet @cengland0 He has legitimate severe mental illness. Don’t try to understand his ramblings. Just sit back and appreciate the crazy.
@cengland0 @warpedrotors-FY!!
@cengland0 @warpedrotors, This reply is only to warped-rotors!! You’re fn doing like Cheeto use to do!🥴< You’re Deflecting & Projecting your traits, sickness, problems & anxiaties unto others!! Everybody knows ur sick game,…just so go away 'B-atch!!
@1DisabledWarVet @cengland0 Seek help immediately.
@cengland0 @warpedrotors,
Almost bought this yesterday from sidedeals with the 20% off code where it would have been $80 but in the end didn’t because I couldn’t find a frame for it anywhere and didn’t know what safety precautions to take if building one for myself.
This looks like a better Amazon comparable and a better deal because it has a lot more features.
@olsmeister Looks like it may need 240V though.
@olsmeister Says 120V above.
@plymouthdave Sorry, I meant the Amazon one I gave the link for. Not this one on Meh. I agree this one says 120V.
@beagleboy99 It looks like a manual power switch… I think I would just hook it up to a smart plug and use Alexa to turn it on and off.
@beagleboy99
I’m guessing that the “logs” are a vinyl decal that can be optionally applied.
@Sardinicus That sounds ghastly
@shubydoo Me too.
@shubydoo, unless you put in xxx amount of fake working hours!!
Similar to Amazon? This one looks like a preschooler’s art project!
@rogerbacon THAT is how you kick off a weekend!
@rogerbacon @wickhameh
You aren’t allowed to babysit for the little budding artist, right?
@Lynnerizer @rogerbacon @wickhameh I mean he’d be in jail. So. Just reading it as the usual I don’t need to hear about/care about your kids.
I don’t know how old my sister’s kids are. Just the range. Most are not in the state I don’t know their names off the top of my head.
Somehow when christmas was a thing I’m the only one playing with them in the basement. I guess I need to grow up and knock up a nice lady
I already have a fireplace insert- it’s called a TV. And since it’s a plasma, it’s an excellent heat source…
This is about as convincing a fireplace as somebody standing next to you whispering, “fireplace”, while you stare at a blank wall.
Well, I Have A Real Fireplace, So…for that reason, I’m out!!
Who bought this from Tampa?
@sleuth you can run it without heat… just for the visuals. Plus, I know it does occasionally get a little cool there. It was fairly cool last time I was there.
Move on to other junk! No one wants to spend this amount for a junk fireplace!
@kjschweitzer
except the 72 that bought it so far…
