@twaniuk years ago I watched my expensive sunglass lenses instantly crack up on a hot day as I walked into a Sam’s Club with a cold downdraft blowing at the front door… Never again
You need to post these next time with a visual diagram showing exact measurements of each part while it’s in front of a face model. Maybe a few employees wearing them?
Sunglasses look so different on a face than in pictures.
I want to get some but simply can’t here. Step it up guys!
I have three pairs of Oakleys that I usually wear but these will be good for throw away type glasses when I’m four wheeling, fishing, doing yard work, and whatever else I may be doing that’s hard on lenses.
Why are the cool ones non-polarized and the non-cool ones polarized? Isn’t that backwards? Oh, and where are the aviators? (The Meh button does not count!)
I want to know how Champion managed to pull their brand out of Walmart’s dumpster and turn it into an actual name brand lately. As far as I remember from the 90’s Champion was then what Athletic Works is now. Definitely not something you would get with the logo in 6" tall print across the front of your hoodie.
@lehigh that’s what I’m saying, in 2023 they sell $50-$150 hoodies. Back in the day you didn’t want that name across your chest. They pulled something off few brands have or can.
I have a rain jacket that is bright red, loud AF with their logo even bigger across it. We can high five if I see you out in that hoodie.
@werehatrack They also make a lot of laptop, phone, GPS, back-up cam screens, and in-dash displays unreadable. But for making scenery look excellent, they’re great.
I’m not at all officially recommending this but as just a rando in the forum, I wonder how crazy it would be to try to buy 2 pairs of same-frame sets where one’s polarized and one’s not and swap out one lens from each.
@dave Ummmm. Been done. Can you say “potentially headache-inducing”? Yeah. Some brains do not like having radically different information from each eye.
@pixelated what if you polarized the heads up display? Put a filter or a film over the screen in the dash.
It might make it invisible to anyone without glasses, though, like when they take the filter out of a phone or laptop screen and it’s all white unless you have polarized glasses to view it.
@djslack not really recommended because the others that use the car don’t use polarized sunglasses. Have to use my non polarized glasses when driving this
@pixelated The dash display is already polarized, that’s what makes it work. Taking the polarization film off of the face would be difficult, and then you’d have tpo wear polarized sunglasses at night - giving Active Enforcement yet another excuse to pull you over and see how many bonus points they can score with add-on offenses.
Seems like a good deal, but I have 2 pairs of sunglasses that I use all the time: rayban aviators from the 80’s and revo h2o’s from about 1990.
Makes me realize that maybe I’m getting old
@lonocat oof, I just remembered my Revo pythons that fell to the concrete as I had them on top of my head after it got dark… RIP another expensive pair.
“Champion, a brand you’ve actually heard of!”
Ah yes, sunglasses from one of the most mediocre shoe brands I’ve ever tried. That’s… actually genuinely informative.
@triavalon Well, and athletic shorts. And jock straps.
Next time on meh, Champion beef jerky and Bluetooth speakers!
@triavalon nothing says optical excellence like a company known for spinning cotton into fabrics
@thismyusername More polyester-ish materials than cotton in my experience.
@werehatrack these days, sure, they started as the “Knickerbocker Knitting Company”… and I remember them mostly from cotton tees in my yute.
@thismyusername @triavalon
Exactly! That is why Oakley sunglasses are a failed '80s product line from a motorcycle grip manufacturer.
Meh got me.
5 days ago I bought the truck assembly toy thingy frome side deal for my son and naturally got the membership for less than the shipping alone.
3 days ago I bought a ten pack of led strips…
And now I’m buying sunglasses
.
I guess this is the way

/giphy this-is-the-way
/giphy I am the captain

I mean, they aren’t as good as Oakley used to be, but neither is Oakley.
@fuzzmanmatt Well Oakley was bought by the mob…errrrr…I mean Luxottica.
This is the way. The last time I bought sunglasses in the $100+ range I watched them float down a river. Never again.
@twaniuk years ago I watched my expensive sunglass lenses instantly crack up on a hot day as I walked into a Sam’s Club with a cold downdraft blowing at the front door… Never again

The best of the three, IMO.
Don’t need sunglasses if you never go out in the sun.

/giphy problem solved
@thismyusername Oh shit. Now I have to dig up that cassette.
@detailer @thismyusername Last year I finally found a reasonably priced CD of this awe some album.

… … it’s ten bucks, dude.
@midnightplatinu WTF are you talking about? I’m gonna go with, “You’re trying to be funny and I am not getting it”.
@midnightplatinu Didn’t you see that last picture?
These 29 bucks ar Costco, so yippiee!
In for two. Need some I can beat up fishing and pickleballing, and not worry too much about losing (which I inevitably will).

My order number makes me think they’ve been reviewing my relationship history

@djslack lol be gentle if you ever see me in this…

Feels like one of those Bookface scams letting you know which friend had an easy password.

My Ophthalmologist sells Maui Jim Sunglasses for only $299.99 plus tax. Gonna buy a pair next time a pig flies over his in clinic sunglasses boutique!
Remember, folx, polarized sunglasses will make the instrument panel displays on a modern aircraft look blank and dark.
@werehatrack They also make a lot of laptop, phone, GPS, back-up cam screens, and in-dash displays unreadable. But for making scenery look excellent, they’re great.
@werehatrack just rotate your face 90 degrees and it’s fine!
@werehatrack And brown-toned lenses can make a perfectly nice blue sky look like a tornado is maybe coming.
@werehatrack I’ll remember that next time I take my F-18 to Walmart.
@TimW @werehatrack Rotate my face 90 degrees clockwise, or anti-clockwise? And should I rotate my head with my face?
@detailer A Harrier is easier to park.
@Trinityscrew @werehatrack clockwise or counter-clockwise…either one will work.
In for four I’ll regret 3 of:

In for 2.

polarized lenses are great to reduce driving glare, but sadly are next to impossible for reading the heads-up display on my car…,
@pixelated I guess it then becomes a heads-down display as you peek over the sunglasses.
I’m not at all officially recommending this but as just a rando in the forum, I wonder how crazy it would be to try to buy 2 pairs of same-frame sets where one’s polarized and one’s not and swap out one lens from each.

@pixelated @werehatrack You drive your own car? I am sorry about your poverty.
Seems like a good deal, but I have 2 pairs of sunglasses that I use all the time: rayban aviators from the 80’s and revo h2o’s from about 1990.
Makes me realize that maybe I’m getting old
@lonocat The fact that you haven’t lost them is pretty impressive!
@lonocat oof, I just remembered my Revo pythons that fell to the concrete as I had them on top of my head after it got dark… RIP another expensive pair.
@djslack a pair of chums is cheap insurance, I never wear my sunglasses on top of my head or on top of my ball cap.
@djslack @lonocat Chums - Meh should sell those next.

@therealjrn I don’t think that command works in a reply
@werehatrack
I see that, thanks.:)

@mediocrebot Two of those would certainly hold your sunglasses in place.
