And how the hell do you refurbish something like this when the first owner most assuredly met his/her maker skating off a cliff or not braking in front of a truck??
OK I just can’t figure out how you’d stop with these. I’m almost tempted though to get these for the days I don’t want to walk home from work and my boyfriend and I are going together. I can hang on the back of his powerchair, it’ll be brilliant! Until I break something, anyway.
@Jamileigh17 Right, the rear wheel is higher than the others. When you lift the front the rear wheel makes contact with the ground and the break pad, slowing you down.
@cinoclav I’m confused why the brake is also a wheel but I watched some YouTube videos and it seems like it works. Not sure if this is better or worse than just having a brake on the heel like a blade. Maybe just to decrease how much you have to pull up?
Wow! I remember when I used to sell these at my one job. Great deal, because they never sold them this cheap, even after they were returned. I’m half tempted to buy them, but since I’m having issues walking without getting hurt, I’m thinking this is a major no-no.
@stinks Nah, it was one of the many things they sold. They were some of my favorites though. Massage chairs were the absolute favorite…actually they sold so much cool stuff, I’m half tempted to work there for Christmas this year…just for the discount lol
Anyone actually try these? My whole family is skaters, and we like to try new things… but we also don’t like spending ~$200 on things we might hate … and I’d hate to buy one, and then have everyone else want one too, and have to pay ~$400 after because they aren’t on meh anymore… :|
@eblade ive got these. they’re more of a cross between roller skates and blades. Like skates, your balance on them is not dependent on ankle rigidity. way more comfortable than blades bcs of that…that being said, you can seriously screw up your ankle on one of these just like on rollerskates. theyve got the fwd/back balance of a blade though, from the placement of the front wheel. If you’ve ever been on rollerskates, you’ll know how it feels when your wheels are not in front of your toe, nor behind your heel…easy to lose balance front-to-back. In that respect these are more like blades than skates. turning is a little different in these. your skate does not have a curved wheel profile like blades, so one-skate carving is not an option. crossover technique is the same though. And doing a rear-foot drag turn works the same. We picked them up so that the kids can go to the community roller rink for cheap, knowing that the skates’ll fit for years.
@giolee88 hmm. I like my blades, the rest of the family quad skates. I might grab a couple one for me and one for the child that doesn’t own skates yet to try… thanks.
I don’t know what to say. On one hand, you are offering something completely different. On the other hand, these make me yearn for those Atmos speakers.
I was just thinking about getting something like these yesterday. They’re cheap. I haven’t used my VMP in a couple weeks. And screw it, I got paid yesterday. In for one.
@RiotDemon Man, you just have to put those quads on and practice falling for awhile, you’ll be fine. Even if you live somewhere with snow and ice in the winter that prevents skating, falling practice will be useful. Also don’t buy these skates, you already have some.
@mossygreen see, the problem is, when I fall, I break things.
Winter would actually be the ideal time for me to try, because I can actually stand going out in the sun. Florida winter doesn’t last very long though.
I just returned a pair of these. Had a hard time getting my size 12 shoes into them, and an even harder time getting them out. The rear wheel braking system is pretty great, once you get use to it. The skates themselves are heavier than they look, and they are slower than regular skates and roller blades. At this price, it’s tempting to buy them again and see if I can modify them to fit my shoes better.
In for 3, although I really wish I could have ordered one more for a complete family experience. Perhaps the adults will take turns as an insurance policy…
I don’t even know where to start on these and the nightmare they appear to be. Skates without ankle support = sprained/broken ankles. If you want to skate do yourself a favor and buy a real pair, these are just an orthopedist visit waiting to happen!
@Raider roller-blades w/o ankle supports = broken ankles, and no fun, bcs the blades are in-line. Rollerskates don’t need as much ankle support. The rentals at the local rink are low-top. Cardiffs are a mix between the two.
Does anyone have the Picard “Chains of Command” clip available? It says three, there are four, we remain confused and are worried about Cardassian torture.
Does the S1 (the larger, orange-highlighted skate) come with the second strap over the top of the foot near the ankle like the images show? That is a must have, according to reviews.
@bbf Yeah, I feel a little misled, as every photo of the skate shows it, but not entirely misled, as it’s not the on image on the box. Still, I can say I was cautiously optimistic and am now mildly disappointed.
@mossygreen I just got a reply from meh.com support and the S1’s were supposed to come with ankle straps (but not the S2’s). meh.com is working with the supplier to get some sent to them so they can send them out to customers who didn’t get ankle straps with their S1’s.
@bbf That’s good news! I didn’t write to support yet because I couldn’t get my tone quite right and wanted to think about how I felt. But this means I can write without feeling aggrieved and/or snotty. Thanks for the update!
@mossygreen Woot!.. oops I mean meh. Got my ankle straps in the mail today!! It took a while, but meh added some really meh stuff in the package: a meh puck made out of stress ball material, a meh sticker, and a meh can coozy (at least that’s what I think it is, else it’s a really small sumo “diaper” for the woot screamin’ monkey.)
I told myself I’d buy these if the Cubs won. I immediately admitted to myself that I was going to buy them either way, but would wait until I saw if the Cubs won.

Tricycle skates?
@yakkoTDI Wait! Why is there 4 wheels on 3 wheeled skates? I AM SO CONFUSED!!!
@yakkoTDI
So confused …
Looks like a giant stepped on two BOB strollers.
And how the hell do you refurbish something like this when the first owner most assuredly met his/her maker skating off a cliff or not braking in front of a truck??
@MehnofLaMehncha Bleach should get rid of the blood splatters.
Can’t believe we haven’t had one dexy’s midnite runners joke based on the model’s attire.
@yakkoTDI
The 4th wheel on the back is for breaking. It’s a break.
Best…Item…Ever…
Are these refurbished because the previous owners died?
@jmoor783
Of embarrassment?
@jmoor783. I think its because they added a 4th wheel.
/giphy broken bones
For cheap skates
@AttyVette
Four cheap wheels. (Times 2)
Nice, Meh is trying to kill me now.
@Tin_Foil You say that like they are the only ones.
@Tin_Foil Do you get VMP back if you die?
Skates with training wheels???
what in the world
Not this aga - - wait, what??
I appreciate the change of pace.
… So someone actually bought these before… Wtf
Of all the 3-wheeled skates I’ve seen, these are by far the 4-wheeliest.
@ptrjon Right? Need to get the count up in here for a wheel check.
@ptrjon confusing, right? the rear wheel is actually only used for braking you ride on 3, and brake using the 4th.
It’s the perfect EMP-proof bug out vehicle for survivalists!
Aww you dirty rats —
@daveinwarsh I enjoyed that!
is insurance included ? health a/o AD&D accidental death and dismemberment
@mehod no, but these would be the kicks to ride in on to your advanced dungeons and dragons night.
I would totally buy a pair of these if they had a few more wheels. You can never have too many wheels.
@rv617 What I don’t understand is that these are 3 wheeled skates … with 4 wheels. Is one a running spare???
@rv617
Three words: six-wheel drive!
I grew up in Cardiff in So Cal. Never saw such a thing. LOL
@badger65, I live in Cardiff now. The only time I’ve seen them is when they are hawking them at street fairs or carnivals.
@haydesigner @badger65 I am jealous of you both for having lived in Cardiff. Beautiful part of the world, great bakery.
@haydesigner nice. I moved up to Oceanside. I miss Encinitas.
@badger65 @haydesigner I ate lunch in Cardiff once. Can confirm, never saw these.
OK I just can’t figure out how you’d stop with these. I’m almost tempted though to get these for the days I don’t want to walk home from work and my boyfriend and I are going together. I can hang on the back of his powerchair, it’ll be brilliant! Until I break something, anyway.
@Jamileigh17 To stop, you lift up your toes…or lean your heel back. There’s a brake there somewhere, lol
@Jamileigh17 oh man. This so
much. Brake looks like an amateur murder device.
@Jamileigh17 Right, the rear wheel is higher than the others. When you lift the front the rear wheel makes contact with the ground and the break pad, slowing you down.
@cinoclav Oh fabulous. I always hated the toe stoppers. Thank you!
/giphy imminent-mystical-park
@cinoclav I’m confused why the brake is also a wheel but I watched some YouTube videos and it seems like it works. Not sure if this is better or worse than just having a brake on the heel like a blade. Maybe just to decrease how much you have to pull up?
@savvysapphire oh, there will be a break there somewhere-guaranteed.
da fuq?
Wow! I remember when I used to sell these at my one job. Great deal, because they never sold them this cheap, even after they were returned. I’m half tempted to buy them, but since I’m having issues walking without getting hurt, I’m thinking this is a major no-no.
@savvysapphire Your only job was selling three-wheeled skates with four wheels? Interesting career.
@stinks
Made enough to retire!
@stinks Nah, it was one of the many things they sold. They were some of my favorites though. Massage chairs were the absolute favorite…actually they sold so much cool stuff, I’m half tempted to work there for Christmas this year…just for the discount lol
@savvysapphire Brookstone?
@cinoclav that would be it! Best store ever
Pizza rat knows how to skate!!!

@eblade here’s the Meh way: Buy 3. If you hate them, sell them on Craigslist. You might even turn a profit on the deal.
I love these, but I’d probably break a hip.
Points. Laughs. Secretly wants.
I broke my coccyx just looking at these things.
For your worst attempt at Lucio cosplay.
Meh for the product. Kudos for the De La Soul.
I was just thinking about getting something like these yesterday. They’re cheap. I haven’t used my VMP in a couple weeks. And screw it, I got paid yesterday. In for one.
/giphy blunt-hardy-stone
@RDW0409 best gify result ever.
@ianrbuck Seriously. I was going to post the same comment.
I don’t see how to stick these on my butt… because that’s where they would get the most use. To meh or not to meh, that is the question.
Ooh, the turning lesson…
I wonder where they filmed that, cause that sure ain’t Cardiff.
@cinoclav Wherever it is, it’s a place where combing your hair is optional.
@Blahbbs earth?
@haydesigner I believe in the first lesson video he says he’s in San Diego.
I totally want a pair but I know I’d rarely use them. Haven’t used my inline skates in years.
Less stable than roller skates, less cool than inline skates?
@jqubed more stable than rollerskates, imo.
Meh, why the hell not…
/giphy miffed-mighty-hydra
I thought about it for a split second until I remember how terrified I was the last time I put my quads on, which I still have in my guest room.
@RiotDemon Man, you just have to put those quads on and practice falling for awhile, you’ll be fine. Even if you live somewhere with snow and ice in the winter that prevents skating, falling practice will be useful. Also don’t buy these skates, you already have some.

They’re like skates for someone who always wanted to buy some skates but just didn’t find them dorky and awkward enough.
Sure…I’ll call it “Cardio” and cancel the gym membership . . . .that I don’t have. . . In for S1
/giphy dead-wishful-fog
@TheDagda Good lord, is that a gif of David Gilmour in 1968? The internet has everything.
Helmet - knee pads - elbow pads -wrist braces - gloves - what did I forget besides a great health insurance policy?
I just returned a pair of these. Had a hard time getting my size 12 shoes into them, and an even harder time getting them out. The rear wheel braking system is pretty great, once you get use to it. The skates themselves are heavier than they look, and they are slower than regular skates and roller blades. Amazon clearly says sizes MENS 2-8… so what s the deal here? please correct or verify ty Meh.
@mellowirishgent The “small” size fits Mens 2-8. See specs for sizing charts on both available sizes.
@troy ty
And here I thought I was used to the random nature of the offerings here. Then this complete whack-foolery comes along and I am at a loss.
If I could afford insurance, I might have rolled on this. But .meh!
@trailtroll helmets and pads are cheap
In for 3, although I really wish I could have ordered one more for a complete family experience. Perhaps the adults will take turns as an insurance policy…
/giphy paramount-cruel-ape
They really look Medievel.
I foresee my next fracture in these, or should I say, falling off of these- in for 2 pair!
Quit-Quiet-Chocolate
@PhysAssist Umm…
I don’t even know where to start on these and the nightmare they appear to be. Skates without ankle support = sprained/broken ankles. If you want to skate do yourself a favor and buy a real pair, these are just an orthopedist visit waiting to happen!

Are sandals and rolled up linen pants required? I’ll only buy them if they are.
I want to buy these ironically, but I’m worried I might actually love them and start wearing them unironically. I can’t let myself become that monster
Go Rat Go!!!
Did my rat win? I hope so.
I swore I would buy anything my rat was part of, but, guys, I really do not need roller skates. So just pretend I bought them.
Go Rat! Crack that whip!
It looks like you have eagle claws on your feet. Maybe you could put on a costume and pretend you’re flying.
@pitamuffin I respect the person in back who had the conviction to fully commit and wear an actual beak instead of just painting one on.

Does anyone have the Picard “Chains of Command” clip available? It says three, there are four, we remain confused and are worried about Cardassian torture.
Too small.
Kudos for offering something completely different. John Cleese would be proud.
Does medical insurance come with these skates so when I buy them and break something using them, I am covered?
Does the S1 (the larger, orange-highlighted skate) come with the second strap over the top of the foot near the ankle like the images show? That is a must have, according to reviews.
@ESQuireTech I have this same question.
@ESQuireTech I just received my pair of S1’s and they did not have the ankle straps.
@bbf Yeah, I feel a little misled, as every photo of the skate shows it, but not entirely misled, as it’s not the on image on the box. Still, I can say I was cautiously optimistic and am now mildly disappointed.

My family unanimously say I can’t have this because I will kill myself. They point out that I can fall over by twisting my ankle on flat ground.

Cardiff, eh? These things better start shrieking the tune of Men of Harlech when the bearings go, boyo.
I saw these at BJ’s Warehouse Club tonight for $64.99 (new). Just sayin’
