As a guy that still has a camera (or three) and a GPS unit (or two) and doesn’t play video games, I concur with this conclusion. The one thing more annoying is driving past someone at night and realizing they have a FUCKING MOVIE PLAYING ON THEIR DASHBOARD. As if the dickwads didn’t have enough distractions already!
Knobs and sliders. My car has not only a touchscreen, but capacitive “buttons” that I’m constantly rubbing furiously to minor effect. Why put controls in a car that you can’t locate by touch?

I always preferred car stereos with knobs. Speaking of which, my microwave doesn’t have numbers, it has a huge knob. best thing ever…

@froppy Ha…Huge Knob!
MY GOD YES

@chienfou Ugh, I know - how is that legal!?
@chienfou @Kyeh I thought most vehicles nowadays have a lockout that prevents the display from being used like that when the vehicle isn’t parked.
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf
Evidently the lockout is easily disabled!
@chienfou @Kyeh I figure the aftermarket units also have that option.
I always preferred car stereos with knobs, as well as manual crank windows. Now get off my lawn.
@heartny Definitely hand crank windows. Then they always work unlike what we have now.
And knobs are safer to operate since you can do that with your eyes still on the road.
@Kidsandliz And knobs don’t show fingerprints like the touchscreen car stereos. When the sun hits the touchscreen a certain way, it looks quite gross.
