@tinamarie1974 roundup works, pulling it up works, but I get a lot of it on a slope on the side of my driveway that’s too steep to mow. I’m usually lazy and just go to town with the weedeater every time I mow. What you have I would try to pull the roots up.
@djslack now that I know it is not poisonous I will give it a shot. There is some though under my A/c compressor. I may have to just spray that patch as the vertical height is not great and I don’t really want to crawl around in the dirt.
@djslack@tinamarie1974 I wouldn’t let it on your AC unit, it’ll block the airflow and cause it to be less efficient, eventually shortening the life of the unit.
Otherwise it’s harmless.
@djslack@IWUJackson agree. That was actually the reason for the thread. I want to kill these vines before they get going but I wanted to figure out what they were (1) to ensure they were not poisonous before I touch them and (2) to figure out the best/quickest way to kill them
@tinamarie1974 Creeper is not poisonous, but the leaves do contain oxalate crystals that can cause skin abrasions. When you pull it up, you should wear gloves.
@tinamarie1974 If it’s near your AC unit, I recommend RoundUp 365. If you’re afraid of it because of the lawsuits (which I am not spraying it more than once or twice a year, so I am not) I would just get some softener salt and put it around, but not near where any pipes are. You don’t really want anything getting into or around your unit anyhow. Maybe put some decorative rock?
Virginia creeper would be my guess.
@sammydog01 Um, isn’t that your nickname?
@sammydog01 thank you ma’am
It looks like Virginia Creeper. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parthenocissus_quinquefolia?wprov=sfti1
@Ambiverbal thank you!
Around here Virginia creeper grows like wildfire. I have a battle with it every year on the side of my driveway.
@djslack how do you kill them? From what I read it looks lime roundup might work?

It’s pretty in the fall and the birds like the berries…
I believe this is the variant that has leaves. From the picture, green ones.
@elimanningface That turn red in the fall.
