Can you help? Seriously....
22I’ve Watched this community rally around people and it’s one of the more intimate places that I belong to.
Last night I got a call from a very good friend of mine, in a matter of minutes, he lost his entire house due to a fire. If you’d like to donate to the GoFundMe account it’s okay we’d really appreciate it. But with the power of social media, even if you just shared the GoFundMe page on your Facebook or Twitter accounts that might even be better.
I’d rather not sit here and beg people for money I know it can be pretty aggravating most times but this guy is actually one of the good guys. He’s a single dad with a nine-year-old daughter trying to make the best of things.
I took it upon myself to start the go fund me account and write up some press releases and distribute them to all the local media Outlets in an effort to try to raise him some money so he could rebuild his life with his daughter.
When I talked to him today and told him that we had over $1,000 already collected he started to cry on the phone and couldn’t stop thanking all of the people involved in this effort.
Again it’s okay if you don’t donate but if you could at least share this on all your social media sites it would mean a lot. Thank you very much for taking a couple seconds to read this post…

Up to $1855 which is great for just opening it! I hope it keeps up the momentum. That has got to be hard - to lose everything including their pets. Might want to make a paypal available too as gofundme/wepay takes around 9%.
Sad story. Really hope they get back on their feet soon. Good of you to help.
From the local volunteer FD’s FB page:
Heidi Sauder Our family owns this home and we just want to say a big thank you to all the fire fighters and EMS providers who came to the rescue of our tenants Friday night. These pictures truly show the devastation.
I wish your friend a speedy return to normalcy.
@somf69 I’m guessing he was renting from this post? Is the owner going to be able to fix the house with insurance? Does your friend have a place to stay in the meantime? I hope they get back on their feet soon.
@RiotDemon renting yes, the Red Cross has him a hotel for a week too. He started a search for a new place today, the house is in no condition to be fixed, looks like a total rebuild. I am amazed at the amount of financial support, there is over $3500 in so far. I’m happy with people just sharing the story if they can’t donate.
I truly sympathize with him and his child. I also went through a fire and lost almost everything I owned. Then through a hurricane with the same results when a tree went through my home. I was a single mother with 2 children and 2 grandchildren also. I wish I had people like those here and on social media helping me. With the fire I had no insurance but thank GOD I had it with the hurricane. My heart and prayers are with him and everyone involved. One thing I do believe is when your at the lowest level in your life the only way left to go is up. Keep your faith and hope and everything else will follow. Peace be with you.
I have insurance on my home so sometimes I wish my house would burn down so I could start all over again. There are many things I would change but I’m sort of stuck with old decisions.
If my house destroyed, I’d lose some family heirlooms but that’s nothing compared to the benefits I would get.
I have hoarder tendencies so my house and garage are full of things I bought, don’t use, but refuse to throw away in case I need them again in the future. If I need a special cable to hook up some equipment, I probably have it today. But if I could start all over, my house would have less clutter and I’d only have the necessary items around.
@cengland0
Wanna remind me where you live? I have a “box” for you…
@cengland0
The box is for you to fill with junk and then to be gotten rid of.
@shruggie You’ll store all that for me? Thanks. Remember to keep it handy because I might ask you for something in the box in the future.
@cengland0 That’s a pretty extreme approach to de-cluttering.
My wife hangs onto everything and it makes me crazy. If something stays in the same place for a week, or isn’t touched in a month, I consider it trash.
I’ve gotten in lots of trouble over the years throwing away “important” things. Once in a while I can wear her down and we clean a closet or something. Small victories.
@cengland0 I know that feeling.
@cengland0 I feel your pain. Glad I’m not alone.
Had a small house fire a little over a year ago - all 2 & 4 legged crew were safe. Had insurance but what a pain going throught the process & the emotional impact (still get freaky when I hear or smell something unusual)! Can’t imagine a whole house gone and worse, the loss of pets. My thought are with them.
I live in Columbia county, about an hour north of there. I have a few odds and ends of furniture, if they need things to get back on their feet Nothing fancy, but useable. Send me an email and I can give you details if they might be interested.

@Steve7654 Steve, will keep you in mind, the local support has been fabulous.
@Steve7654 - You really don’t want to leave your email here, do you? Is it a dedicated account? Tag @Thumperchick if you’d like it redacted.
Just wanted to say …THANK YOU … You know who you are!
