These look like fun. I’d probably jump in for $10 (maybe a starter kit and/or smaller pieces?), but not $50. Cool though. Sell more toys, meh. I’m just a big kid. But, yaknow, a cheap one.
I’m 38 and proud to say I bought them for myself! I think they’ll be fun to take with me to the breweries and build things with friends. Who wants to join me?!
@RedOak directly from the manufacturer they’re about 130. Can’t find em cheaper. Seems crazy, but I climbed trees and fought with sticks when I was little.
@Pantheist yah, same here. And these “modern” kids cheat with magnets to auto-align blocks. We earned our spatial, design/engineering, and small dexterity skills with Legos.
Well I figured I spent enough time at work trying to decide if I should buy them or not to almost pay for them, so in for 1.

@medz@Kwadguy I just got my set and I can’t imagine how anyone would give it two stars. The set has a compelling set of pieces, but the magnets don’t have sufficient strength to hold any of the sample models together, and that is after you try to get the polarity of the magnets sorted out. I tried a model with treads first. The wheels that carry the treads fit so loosely into the wheel carrier piece that the tread pulls them together at an angle. If you manage to get the tread on, as soon as you roll it any at all it comes off. Some things aren’t a good deal at any price!
@jimryan2000 - Dammit. This was expensive, and was a splurge for a main Xmas gift. I am extremely disappointed with the experience, if they truly don’t work.
These are similar to Picasso tiles but sorta inferior, although I have a small design issue with them too. They are the same as MagTiles. These have the rounded edges but the magnets are not always in line. The polarity mixup means these things don’t stack easily or not at all. Magnetic strength-wise, these do stick well when aligned. However, similar sets are priced around the same, so not really a deal here.
Our kids play with the v1.0 style stack magnets that were solid. These hallow designs with more powerful aligning magnets make structures more sturdy. In for one to see if it grabs their interest.

@heartny The bigger problem would be swallowing pieces and then have them cause problems in the intestines with the pieces sticking together bunching up intestines. That is why they recalled a much smaller magnetic building toy.
Pretty frustrating when we can’t get legitimate product questions answered. Seems like you guys got better at it for a little while, then reverted to ignoring questions.
Upon looking closely at the pictures, the wheels don’t appear to have magnets, and the various attachments appear to snap into place. Especially when looking at the robot.
i’m also a big kid whose apartment is loaded with various toys (though mostly of the urban vinyl/kaiju-ish collectible sorts i guess) and this is too pricey for me, too. that said, i’ve seen several cool lego sets i really wanted to buy for myself but haven’t because they’ve all been in the three figure range. no clue when legos got so insanely expensive but i’m not shocked it would also drive up the price of similar building-type toys. this seems like a good deal for a big 160 piece set though, i just don’t have extra money to spend on it.
Just got mine, which is going to be an Easter gift for the kiddo (she’s 4, so probably won’t care if they’re not the greatest)… the packaging mentions 3 awards from 7-10 years ago which I’m pretty sure were for Magformers, not this manufacturer. False advertising much?
@sohmageek They are compatible with Magformers, which is the primary, most popular brand. I bought these for my 5yr old, who has magformers; my thinking that while he has more toys than Toys-R-Us, I’ll just give him these in his Easter basket… he loves playing with these to build forts and “jails” for his dinosaur toys… while often battling the evil wizards from his ImagiNext toys.

In for two sets! Like Legos, these are more fun when you have lots of pieces.
My kid is legit spoiled.
/giphy money to burn
@medz I would buy these too if I had money to burn. We had a similar set and they were pretty cool.
@medz Much, much more constructive and educational to “spoil” with this kind of toy than with video games.
/giphy mild-irritating-toad
@jayplus707 that dude is moving faster than my old iPad 2, trying to run iOS 9.x
Buzz & Heidi? Is this like the dollar store version of the Melissa & Doug toys?
@ruouttaurmind Mehbe Buzz is more of a party animal.
@ruouttaurmind maybe could be they are just “LIGHTYEARS” ahead of us and that’s what this BUZZ is all about !
@ruouttaurmind
@ruouttaurmind I’ll just leave this here…

@mehdaf That seems a bit of an alarmist and self serving post from them.
Ha! Galactic Goat award for perfect gif of the day definitely goes to @dave!
Cool toy to get a kid away from a darn tablet screen.
@Stallion
/youtube you have to use your hands, that’s like a baby toy
How edible are these?
@spacezorro how hungry are you?
I’m 38 and proud to say I bought them for myself! I think they’ll be fun to take with me to the breweries and build things with friends. Who wants to join me?!
@karlabee Count me in!
@karlabee We have a monthly “Pints for Dads” day at a local brewery where we do this kind of stuff with our kids. Cue the “baby in a bar” meme…
@Thatsmyrealname My only child is furry with four legs, but he loves going out with me. It’s not drinking alone if your dog (or kids?) are with you!
PS nice photo names
Intriguing, but out of my price range. Sad now.
Looks fun but too expensive. I’ll use the money to buy a single big neodymium magnet instead.

This MEH sale highlights wanting us to stick together
Not sure if serious… 50 bucks?
These look like Magformers. Anyone know if they are compatible?
@jdmst77 Yep, we added that in the specs above ^
@dave nice. Our little 30-some piece set that cost the same will still get use.
I’d love to buy this for my little cousin’s birthday but way too steep at this price.
Are we to believe those 6 Amazon reviewers really paid $150?
Cool toy, but still.
If the kids don’t play with them, then it’s a pretty good collection of colorful refrigerator magnets
These look cool, but like most kids toys in this category, way over priced.
Cool tricks with similar toys:
Note the closing comment, and the number of small triangles in this set?
FYI: Icosahedron
That Feynman video was… interesting. I’d not seen him on video before, what a character.
Well I figured I spent enough time at work trying to decide if I should buy them or not to almost pay for them, so in for 1.

@MrMark Maybe I can waste enough time to get a second one. Can you order a second later if you decide to on meh?
@MrMark I think you are able to do that as long as you don’t exceed the max qty allowed.
It’s getting to be that I come to meh only to read the comments…
April fools day was 2 days ago. Wait, maybe this is an insidious plot to circumvent April fools?
Price Comparison: The manufacturer sells it for $129.99 on their website.
@Collin1000 Here’s a link. http://www.buzzheidi.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html
Our kids love Magformers, and every Christmas we contemplate dropping $80-200 on them and decide against it. In for 2.
MEAN-MEAN-SCIENCE:
@AbdiViklas Yeah. This is a great deal for those of us with kids who cant get enough of these.
FakeSpot gives it a D and a reweighted average of a dismal 2.5 stars.
Pass.
@KwadGuy 2.5 stars at full retail price, maybe. I’d wager those reviews would be a star higher at this price.
@medz @Kwadguy I just got my set and I can’t imagine how anyone would give it two stars. @jimryan2000 God dammit. Just got ours, but haven’t opened the boxes. If they suck, my kids birthday will be ruined. Thanks for nothing, meh.
@jimryan2000 - Dammit. This was expensive, and was a splurge for a main Xmas gift. I am extremely disappointed with the experience, if they truly don’t work.
I hereby rescind my whine.
Sorry to have doubted you, meh.

I can’t wait to step on these in the kid’s playroom!
Seem fine. Hold as well as the brand name ones.

Looks like a choking hazard.
@heartny nah, the pieces are pretty large.
@medz A choking hazard for people with big mouths?
@heartny maybe, but most of the pieces have holes in the middle for air flow.
@heartny Maybe Muppets?
/giphy muppet
@heartny Nah. Eating them just gives you a magnetic personality.
@mehcuda67 yes you can say you are attracted to each other then
@AttyVette Hopefully not a fatal attraction.
@heartny Parenting usually helps avoid choking. Besides, these look delicious.
@warpedrotors Probably not as tasty as Play-Doh or Crayola crayons.
@heartny The bigger problem would be swallowing pieces and then have them cause problems in the intestines with the pieces sticking together bunching up intestines. That is why they recalled a much smaller magnetic building toy.
Dear Mehgnet Buyers, maybe one of those huge (no of pieces) magnetic ball and stick building kits next?
How many of the pieces are actually magnetic?
Just the 78 main shapes listed?

I heard these toys do weird and mysterious things when you stack them on your external USB hard drives.

also, missing my favorite lego piece from when i was a kid - the googly eye piece. improves any build a minimum of 210%.
Like several others, I’d buy them for me to play with except they are way over my monthly “junk” budget (yes I realize much cheaper than retail).
I want this, am a VMP member, and cannot figure out how to order it.
@geminijane Weird.
