@apatge@RedOak What’s worse is the regret of letting my VMP payment lapse a month when I closed my old credit card due to fraudulent charges. That was a sad day
@sleuthnot to make you feel bad, but I believe others have had success getting VMP back due to things like that, or cards expiring, events beyond their control - with the assistance of Customer Support. But they might have begged on a timely basis.
We use primarily one card for online stuff (except Amazon where the Prime card gets a 5% reward) and auto-pay utilities.
When the card inevitably gets attacked and replaced, we have a list of the merchants/utilities so we know immediately who to update with the new card number.
@RedOak@sleuth Probably a bit late to request reinstatement of my original VMP membership, dues to a card being compromised… But got back on board with the Casemates kickstarter, so all is well there… Now the question remains: Do I use it enough to justify the $5 charge every month? And would I cancel it even if I knew I wasn’t?
@ciabelle clearly the smart thing would be to cancel it, certainly in my case - I bought regularly in the early years but now it is a rarity. No way is it paying back for me. That is the addiction part.
@apatge@RedOak You said it better than I could have. As a VMP holder, this is exactly how I feel, haha. I hate feeling stuck due to not wanting to lose my “grandfathered” perk but also knowing that there are months where I don’t buy a damn thing from Meh, equating to money wasted.
But oh well. $60 a year. I could be wasting it on more frivolous things.
@medz The real question is do I want to pay the extra $2.99 expedited shipping for the Airpods? I mean $10 is pretty steep price for headphones from “Apple”
@medz I’ve been a vmp from about the 3rd month since meh started. Is there really a special vmp site with good deals? Lol I really don’t know. Let me know
@spitfire6006006 that super secret deal pretty much crashed the site with all the VMPs trying to use the coupon code as the first 100 for each drop. I doubt snapster will do anything like that in the future because of all the trouble it caused.
@spitfire6006006@tedesj i got free 20 pounds from the last “drop” of that super secret deal a little over 24 hours after the last deal started. I was pretty much amused thinking all VMPers or at least a 100 before me have gotten them i guess i was lucky! but not so much as getting an IRK yet or a FUKU/FUKO previously it was called. lol
Despite all the humblebrags, it’s a way for those who’ve been here longer to feel superior and those of us less-privileged to feel resentful and put-upon. So a microcosm of the real world, basically.
@RedOak Oh, I found some things - and resisted some others, because buying stuff is really not something I should do more of - so I suppose I should be glad that my non-VMP stays prevents me from buying more.
But it does still always feel like I’m excluded from the cool kids club, which I guess I’m used to at this point in my life!
@Kyeh you can give it up whenever you want and pick it up like nothing happened. Once you give up VMP, it’s gone forever. There are quite a few people paying $5 a month and not buying anything.
If I was a member, I’d give up the membership until the next time that I want to buy something.
@RiotDemon Yeah, I should do that. But the VMP status - you know how it is, as soon as you’re told that there’s some special thing you can never have, off course you want it!
@metageist we did a roll call a while back and I think several hundred answered. I figure that’s really a fraction as many may never post on or even come to the forums.
@cengland0@djslack there was 386 parent comments and 133 replies. That means there was around 375 actual VMPs when you remove the people that commented that didn’t have it.
Well, I was a VMP. Then I moved, and I had to change my email address. At which time (apparently) I got dropped out of VMP status into…whatever my status is now. I get to save a penny a month for “free” shipping. Ah well…VMP’s come, VMP’s go.
@eeterrific
hmmm… that’s strange. A change in email address should not have triggered a drop of your VMP status. A change in CC info, like a card expiring or being cancelled, would though
That might have been it. I think my card date was expiring at about the time I moved. It was close to it, and when I notified the CC company, they issued me a new one.
Preemptive. Nice.
I’m getting can’t buy because I’m not a VMP…what does that mean? I’'m a member in good standing.
@squeegy63 It means you haven’t sacrificed enough goats.
@Jamileigh17 @squeegy63 Wait, goats? I thought we were sacrificing sheep this month.
@squeegy63 It means you’re a member, not a very mediocre person. Not the same thing
This. And they still won’t get it, because they’re stupid and won’t read.
@Jamileigh17 Haha! Git gud, noobs!
It sucks. Why can’t we change to the VMP membership. WTF?
@apatge It ended years ago. Those of us who have help onto it get to keep it.
@apatge think of the VMP membership as a monthly $5 sucker charge for the addicted.
You can’t stop because you know you can’t start.
With “Member” status you can start and stop at will with no fear, no withdrawal symptoms.
Trust us, before Meh killed new VMP status, it was that way with VMP - you could turn it on and off at will, when you found something you wanted.
Celebrate your freedom!

Like IRK bags.
VMP is like social security
If your membership isn’t old enough, you don’t get that mehtirement benefit bruv
It’s like a benefit for those of us who are early adopters.I understand it’s upsetting that you don’t get to participate but them’s the breaks.
But I was early enough—
I signed up before they ended the VMP-
In July 2018-
@akapl2002 you’ve been a member since July 2018.
@akapl2002 vmp ended in 2017.
@akapl2002 @RiotDemon New VMP memberships ended on March 1, 2017. Some people got VMPs in early 2018 from the Casemates kickstarter.
https://mediocre.com/forum/topics/last-chance-to-join-vmp-is-closed-to-new-members-after-this-month
If you don’t have this statement on your membership page, then you’re not a VMP:
Wait until they find out about the VMP-exclusive deals page with the really good deals on it!
@medz shhhhh. That’s a secret!
@medz The real question is do I want to pay the extra $2.99 expedited shipping for the Airpods? I mean $10 is pretty steep price for headphones from “Apple”
@medz @oppodude I thought we were not suppose to talk about that in the “open” forums. Snapster is gonna be mad…
@medz @tinamarie1974
@medz @oppodude @tinamarie1974 as an actual VMP, I’m lost and confused and now sure if this is a joke
@smigit2002 nice job selling it, all those Members will never know about it!
@medz @smigit2002 @tinamarie1974 the octopus swims at breakfast.
@medz I’ve been a vmp from about the 3rd month since meh started. Is there really a special vmp site with good deals? Lol I really don’t know. Let me know
@zach_kay392 no. All meh deals suuuuuck.
@zach_kay392 lol, no.
Vmp extras vs members are:
Small holdout at 4pm
Being able to purchase yesterday’s item from midnight to 6am if it didn’t sell out
10% discount at morningsave.com using coupon code vmp
Random things like we had a shot at free pasta when pastadrop was a thing.
@medz @zach_kay392 Gosh you guys! Quit mentioning it!
I got the socks long ago, and the phone cradle. Then not much else…
@tedesj There was also a super-secret deal on a certain temporary site from not too long ago
@spitfire6006006 that super secret deal pretty much crashed the site with all the VMPs trying to use the coupon code as the first 100 for each drop. I doubt snapster will do anything like that in the future because of all the trouble it caused.
@cengland0 idk, after the first week I got mine fairly easy. there can’t be too many left of us so after 100 were used
@spitfire6006006 @tedesj i got free 20 pounds from the last “drop” of that super secret deal a little over 24 hours after the last deal started. I was pretty much amused thinking all VMPers or at least a 100 before me have gotten them i guess i was lucky! but not so much as getting an IRK yet or a FUKU/FUKO previously it was called. lol

@Kyeh actually, it fees more like a sick addiction with no end to me.
Celebrate your freedom to stop and start Member status when you don’t and do find something you want to buy here!
@RedOak Oh, I found some things - and resisted some others, because buying stuff is really not something I should do more of - so I suppose I should be glad that my non-VMP stays prevents me from buying more.

Vmp is like the clap, if you don’t have it anymore it’s not something you want
@robson
I’ll take “Things an Ex-VMP might say” for $500 Alex.
/image perks!
I kind of assumed there were like 5 of us left…
@metageist A lot of us hide behind a kickstarter badge.
@metageist Umm look how fast VMP irks sell out. Clearly way too many VMP’s for the number of irks offered.
@metageist we did a roll call a while back and I think several hundred answered. I figure that’s really a fraction as many may never post on or even come to the forums.
@djslack There was a VMP Roll Call like you said and here’s the link: https://meh.com/forum/topics/vmp-roll-call
@cengland0 so 133 replies, some of which were chatter, and maybe some of the comments were VMP answers, but it wasn’t several hundred after all.
I stand by the part about it being completely inaccurate, though
@cengland0 @djslack there was 386 parent comments and 133 replies. That means there was around 375 actual VMPs when you remove the people that commented that didn’t have it.
@cengland0 @RiotDemon d’oh! I read it backwards. Thanks for straightening me out.
@cengland0 @djslack @RiotDemon
Also some who hold VMP accounts may have never seen the topic, or may have chosen not to reply.
@metageist @RogerWilco
or a dead goat…
