Bug Report: No way to cancel VMP?!?!
0I want to cancel my VMP because I am trying to save money for a house purchase and unfortunately VMP is apparently not able to be canceled from the user panel?!
Step 1: Click the 'Account' icon followed by the 'My Account' down select link from the main webpage.[1]
Step 2: Click the 'Edit' button under 'VMP Membership': [2]
Step 3: Load new page and hit 'CANCEL' and it cycles back to 'Step 1'. [3]
WTF?!
How to cancel?

it self cancels if you don't order
@Cerridwyn Is that true? I was pretty sure if you didn't order, AND then canceled before it renewed, you got refund. But self-canceling is a new concept, for me anyway.
@Cerridwyn Yeah, I'm with @ACraigl on this- I think you need to cancel. Plenty of people let the VMP ride for other benefits and would be upset if it self cancelled.
@Cerridwyn I don't know if you're right about that.
My last purchase:
My last charge for VMP:
@jjohns71 well, that's how it used to work. 30 days with no purchase was an auto cancel
@Cerridwyn Yeah, about that. That's not even kind of true.
@Cerridwyn False.
@Cerridwyn More likely your payment method was refused (coincidentally).
It's a trap!
Did you seriously just ping the CEO and chief technology officer for a trivial customer service matter? Dude!
@sammydog01 no he pinged @sean
@Ignorant Is he the guy that puts labels on the boxes?
@jjohns71 the VMP page is hosted at mediocre.com not at meh, make sure you are logged into your account over there then try again.
@Ignorant is that a feature or a bug?
@jjohns71 yes.
There is no V logo by your name so you can't cancel what you don't have
@hallmike What did I get charged for on March 27 then?
@jjohns71 That is a negative amount - it is probably the refund from your unused month.
But a VMP membership will make your house a home.
@cercopithecoid my house is the big house. the vmp membership didn't make it seem any moar homey.
The fact that it's presenting the sales page for vmp means you're not one. Also the lack of v by your name as noted by hallmike.
If you are a vmp it looks/says something like this:
You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave.
@therealjrn You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.
GAWD GET IT RIGHT
@RedHot yeah, I noticed this last night but decided to leave it alone...
@thismyusername
Once trapped by the "V"
No luck canceling had he
First step join then leave
@jjohns71 just checked your account and can confirm that your VMP membership has been cancelled. You can officially add $5 per month to your mortgage budget.
@MEHcus
@MEHcus What was the official cancellation date? As far as I know, I last paid for VMP on March 27th. Also I still have the dark theme forum which I thought was a perk for VMP only?
@jjohns71 Not sure on the exact cancellation date, but likely yesterday when you were fiddling with it. The dark theme and other forum perks have been opened up site wide now so that the commoners can join in on the fun.
@jjohns71 While new forum features are often exposed (beta-tested) to VMPs first, they're often rolled out to the general masses later. That feature (and a few others) are publicly available, VMP or no.
Edit: What @Mehcus said.
@MEHcus Yeah, next thing you know those heathens will be wearing free socks.
I like that there was no way to cancel because you'd already cancelled. I suppose we could do a "sorry to see you go" type email. I'll add that to our list of features we keep pushing back on to do unnecessary forum mods.
@snapster The VMP cancellation button should say "Extra Cancellations - $5" if a non-VMPer clicks it.
@snapster Maybe just a page once you cancel that says it went through. And then shows them this image:
The new Meh VMP cancellation button:
