@sp3ar I don’t know about this guy, but Black Diamond makes some pretty bright lantern style lights & Goal Zero makes some hanging style LEDs that are also pretty bright (the GZ one I took on a week long camping trip, it ran the light at night, charged our phones/iPads and at the end of it all had a 80% charge and I have never bothered to set up the solar panel!!)
@RedOak Yeah I kinda want this too…and like you I have an array…just not all together…there is a more expensive one on Amazon that does even more but it’s $65…and I still want it…gah! This is so like the old days of woot! I love it!
@2ewl We don’t allow what folks commonly refer to as (dime store) “duct tape” in our home. Gummy adhesive and ineffective.
However, I will admit to occasionally clamping newly reglued shoe soles to their uppers, amongst other unintended uses, with 3M packing tape sourced by the six pack from Costco.
@IWUJackson we’ve brought a lot of stuff on Meh but only a couple items this calendar year. Haven’t even been tempted very often. #LaunchHoneymoonOver.
@cengland0 The Lightwave Beam has the 1600 mAh battery while the Lightwave Camp Rocker has the 2600 mAh battery. The Lightwave Beam appears to not have a speaker while the Lightwave Camp Rocker does. Since the model being sold here appears to have a speaker, my guess is that the actual model being sold is the Lightwave Camp Rocker and indeed has a 2600 mAh battery.
Love the Amaxon link… $46 with $49 needed for free shipping. Just buy two for free shipping, right. A few suckers and the entire manufacturing run is paid for. A AA battery worth of mAH. This is a $15 item at best. Meh…
If Paul Revere had this, we have been taught, “60 lumens if by land, 120 lumens if by sea,” in grade school history. And he would have taken an Uber instead of riding a horse. Y’know, strike that. He’s have just sent out a tweet and his fellow colonists would have retweeted and we would have flashmobbed the shit out of the Redcoats.
@AmazingChicken
Some of his family Went There. Or Were There to begin with. Several of his sisters and/or aunts married into German aristocracy, didn’t they?
I think he was thoroughly Britishicized by the mid 1930’s, and served with dedication and honour under the command of his future father-in-law in the Royal Navy during the war. Was PO’ed not to be in serious danger all the time.
Didn’t he absolutely despise his time around German schools and goosestepping when quite young? And his educational mentor had to flee Germany for Scotland?
And he’s the most Entertaining Ass in the royal family. Never at a loss for something insulting to say. And in his 90’s. So he’s cool.
The specs are screwed up. There are 3 models, Beam, Camp, Amp.
See all three of the lightwave specs on Brunton Site.
It says the camp has a 2600 MaH battery.
The photo of the box is for the Beam (lower model)
There is also an AMP model (cause no one would ever conflate Lightwave Camp and Lightwave Amp. So, the model name is not so great if it confused Me and Meh.
@haydesigner I want the model where you can control the lantern and even change the light color using an app on your tablet. Yah, that’s not massively overthinking the problem.
No sale! I don’t know if the product on offer is the meh! Camp Rocker model or the super meh! BEAM model.
Model: Camp Rocker
Model no.: F-CAMPROCK-BK FCCID: 2AF0H-CAMPROCKER
BUT Meh! marketing staff chose to photograph the BEAM model instead? You just can’t teach “smart”.
Brunton tried hard to distinguish the Amp, Camp Rocker, and BEAM models in their Lightwave lineup, but Meh! staff is, well, too meh! to notice when they’ve been hit by a 2×4.
The BEAM doesn’t have the Bluetooth speaker; meh! Is probably offering the Camp Rocker despite the picture of the BEAM’s box and saying the battery is 1600mAh instead of the Rocker’s 2600mAh.
Heck, maybe Brunton boxed a bunch of Rocker speaker-lanterns in BEAM boxes and thus sold them to meh! at a bargain price.
Interesting. Not entirely sure I have a need for this. I already own a bunch of lights and even more Bluetooth speakers. Could be useful when the power goes out maybe? But using the speaker and the light, wouldn’t the battery drain really fast?
@savvysapphire That’s part of the strange thing. If this is the ‘Rocker’ (with speaker), then it’s 2.6 Ah, and according to the manufacturer:
Up to 4 hours of continuous light and music on high setting
Up to 10 hours of continuous light and music on low setting
vs. what meh has listed for running the light on a 1.6 Ah battery (low 11.5 hrs, high 3.5 hrs, red 20 hrs)
If it’s linear, and 2.6Ah, then I’d expect 6.5hrs on high / 16.25hrs on low if only using the light. (and I suspect the ‘up to’ means ‘when using line in, not bluetooth … and before you’ve cycled the battery hundreds of times’
@chienfou looks like a fingle, not a handle, this one is more like a hook, a handle allows you to put all your fingers through. oh well thanks for the reply,
I just bought one (dogged-circular-spy) to give to my father-in-law. For him it’ll be just a lantern, but he worries about power outages and he mostly has flashlights so another lantern will be welcome. For me, it’ll be a bluetooth speaker and power pack when I am paying a visit. I often bring them with me, but I also often forget to. This solves the problem.
If Meh ships me the Beam instead of the Camp Rocker I’ll cry fraud, but I’m not too concerned. The sixth photo shows the Beam box, but the second photo clearly shows that the product being offered is the Camp Rocker. It could well be that Brunton put a batch of Camp Rockers in Beam boxes and those units found their way to Meh.
@sammydog01 I worked for Mediocre however I have moved on. Last Wednesday was my last day there, hence no flask now. No videos as I only worked there for 4 months.
@salaosantiago actually… not so much. IF you had listed “-- with $ 100 bill” and it didn’t come with one you’d be just as well “grounded”. There isn’t any doubt about the way the specs are listed. Our best hope is that they are wrong and will come with the 2600 mAh battery, which would be a bonus. The key will be does it have:
a lantern
a USB output
a speaker
at least a 1600 mAh battery.
if any of those are not as advertised you could make a legit case.
@salaosantiago one suspects for single option deals the algorithm ignores --size input. Therefore, using your logic you could have entered --color 24 carat gold and…
@chienfou I have no illusions that my post was legally binding . And I completely agree, if it has the higher capacity battery I will be pleased - and surprised (my hunch is that these are either an older model or a freak production run with the smaller battery). I won’t wager a guess as to why the box photo shows a different model all together. What’s a few hundred milliamp hrs. between friends anyway?
@RedOak Now I want to order another, maybe I’ll start small - like /buy --color purple. Perhaps meh would hit mine with a spray can before boxing it up and shipping it off.
@salaosantiago just opened my box of 3… Each one says 2600 on the actual packaging, but they are in a plastic overbag that is just taped shut, not shrink wrapped as one would expect… so who knows?
Will have to fire one up and see how it handles!
Got scammed. Sign up for VMP and click order. All sold out. tried again at 4pm, only for VMP sign up before today. wasted 5 bucks to learn a lesson… crap
Mine just got dropped off… will have to wait for dark to see if the light is any good (or I guess I could go into a closet if they are charged up at all) and try out the speaker to see how it works. Will post back here later.
OK, mine arrived about 75% charged, light is not bad for a tent sized area, bluetooth speaker is not Bose quality, but it does play music and was easily paired. So far, all is well.
Hey so, did this happen to anyone else? My product came in and it’s in a camp rocker box, but the product inside is just the lightwave beam, no bluetooth speaker functionality. Seems like a problem.
@asharp Was the box sealed with the little round tape disks intact?
Both these models look pretty much identical. Sounds weird that they would have the wrong item in the box, but hey, it could happen I guess. Can you post a pic of the bottom of the light?
@asharp Hmmm, a Lightwave Beam in a Lightwave Camp Rocker box. That’s almost as weird as the product photos that Meh posted of a Camp Rocker in a Beam box.
Something similar happens with my socks every now and then. One of these days I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
I got mine—a Camp Rocker inside a Camp Rocker box. Boring, but in a good way. Well-designed gadget; I wish I had purchased two. The hook is very nicely integrated into the carrying loop, and the “glow-in-the-dark” ring around the light is a clever touch.
@benf_dc cool… hadn’t noticed that yet!. Bought 3, two for gifts one for myself… hoping to go camping later this year, maybe. I really miss those days.

Hit 'em up!
Bright idea tonight meh…light us up eh meh?
Reminds me of my favorite joke, as told by my buddy the worst joke teller of all time:
I’m so smart, my dad calls me son.
@AttyVette Don’t tease them or they will find the remaining speaker docks.
He’d also say, I’m stuck between a hard rock and some other kind of place.
Such a puny battery, I shall use a real power pack for this lantern.
@rileyper if they only added a solar cell, you could turn on the light and it would run forever
This is the ultimate Meh device.
@skoobar Battery pack? Yes. Light? Yeah. Bluetooth speaker? Yep. Only thing missing is the knife.
@narfcake and a dock
Turn the light up to full brightness and you can also make your own potato chips.
@MehnofLaMehncha is it even bright? every one of these lantern style lights I have seen or bought are junk
I kinda want this, although I do not really have a need for it.
@conandlibrarian I kinda want this too. And we have a need for it - camping.
However, we already have a cache of lanterns, battery packs, and bluetooth speakers.
Just not all in one…
@RedOak Yeah I kinda want this too…and like you I have an array…just not all together…there is a more expensive one on Amazon that does even more but it’s $65…and I still want it…gah! This is so like the old days of woot! I love it!
@RedOak You need to wait for the Meh duct tape event.
@conandlibrarian Isn’t that true of most things on Meh?
@2ewl We don’t allow what folks commonly refer to as (dime store) “duct tape” in our home. Gummy adhesive and ineffective.
However, I will admit to occasionally clamping newly reglued shoe soles to their uppers, amongst other unintended uses, with 3M packing tape sourced by the six pack from Costco.
@IWUJackson we’ve brought a lot of stuff on Meh but only a couple items this calendar year. Haven’t even been tempted very often. #LaunchHoneymoonOver.
@RedOak
How about 100 mph tape?
Amazon says the battery is 2600Mah but Meh’s specs says it’s 1600Mah. Which one is accurate?
@cengland0 Looked at the box again. This version is 1600Mah.
@Kylethephotoguy Then it’s not a fair price comparison when you compare a cheaper Meh model with a better Amazon one. Bought one anyway
The box shown is of the Ligtwave BEAM…which is a cheaper model with no bluetooth. The Lightwave Camp rocker has a 2600Mah battery. SEE here.
There is also a LIghtwave AMP which has a bigger battery and light. So, Confusion here.
Margaritas?
@Crood
Don’t mind if I do …
do not be fooled by it’s shape- this will not make margaritas
@alacrity But you can use it to light the work area while you make margaritas, so, along with other items, you can use it to make margaritas.
@alacrity sure it can!
@alacrity USB-powered blenders, anyone? Lol!
@awk yeah, but following that logic, you could also use Jessica Alba to make margaritas. owait…
Let’s see…
Almost the ultimate meh product!
There should be a purée function.
/giphy messy blender
Is the battery replaceable ?
@jmbunkin Probably with a soldering iron and a screw driver.
@jmbunkin no worries on that front. One or more of the other functions is sure to fail prior to wearing out the battery.
Damn couldn’t resist.
charming-valuable-mole
I wish this was a blender
Love the Amaxon link… $46 with $49 needed for free shipping. Just buy two for free shipping, right. A few suckers and the entire manufacturing run is paid for. A AA battery worth of mAH. This is a $15 item at best. Meh…
@DaveKnowsAll But it’s LiIon though, so it’s 2.5x an AA worth of power.

@mwarren Or maybe there used to be a different 1600mAh speaker model that has been discontinued that is being replaced with all the other models.
@cengland0 and maybe they used to pack that old 1600mAh model in a box that said “Beam” on it???
This is a neat idea, but by the time I need a light in a camp ground, it is often close to quite hours
@chriaanderson44 spell check doesn’t help when you misuse a word…
@chienfou hehehe, please be quite

Does it have a loop at the top for hanging? Seems like it would be good for hanging from the inside of a tent. But I see no way to do that.
@wcanyon see “hand pictured for scale” picture listed above (just below the specs)
Dear Mediocre buyers, see if you can get some of the Lightwave Amp lanterns for cheap. I’d buy one of those for Meh prices.
@lljk I liked that model as well however there weren’t enough available for a day on meh
@Mickeyg63 Who are you? A representative of the company who sold these lanterns to Mediocre?
@lljk No, I was the buyer responsible for ordering the products from Brunson.
@Mickeyg63 Where is your flask? Are you new? Are you in any of Matthew’s videos? I need answers!

@sammydog01 I worked for Mediocre however I have moved on. Last Wednesday was my last day there, hence no flask now. No videos as I only worked there for 4 months.

@salaosantiago I love purple.
@salaosantiago just opened my box of 3… Each one says 2600 on the actual packaging, but they are in a plastic overbag that is just taped shut, not shrink wrapped as one would expect… so who knows?
Will have to fire one up and see how it handles!
@chienfou According to the USPS I have to wait until Wed. to see what I receive.
edit - eh, I mean no disrespect and I’m not comparing my wait for a frivolous gadget to the plight of any peoples
Got scammed. Sign up for VMP and click order. All sold out. tried again at 4pm, only for VMP sign up before today. wasted 5 bucks to learn a lesson… crap
@nanobugs They will refund VMP within a month if you haven’t made a purchase.
@sammydog01 You have to cancel your VMP though, it doesn’t automatically refund otherwise.
Sucks so bad , they sold out!!!
Here is the pic of the package contents! You can plainly see the 2600mAh listing on the package
@chienfou Got mine today and it clearly says 2600mAh too. Don’t know how the employee confirmed 1600 by looking at the box again.
@cengland0 Maybe he has the box that belongs to @asharp’s speaker-less one?
Can I buy another? I like it!
@chienfou Yeah it’s odd, it was sealed with the tape disks. Here’s the bottom of the light.
@asharp your pic(s) didn’t post properly
@chienfou Whoops, thanks
Wow, that is truly weird! Did you reach out to meh customer service? What did they say?
@chienfou yep, in process! we’ll see, no resolution yet. Not totally torn up about it, tbh. I’m kinda meh about it.

@asharp Can’t blame you. They are OK lights, but not exactly Bose speakers!

@benf_dc Just came here to say this too.
The ring below the LED glows in the dark making the device easier to find in the dark. Cool!
@benf_dc cool… hadn’t noticed that yet!. Bought 3, two for gifts one for myself… hoping to go camping later this year, maybe. I really miss those days.
