I bought a Remington brand triple-rotor electric shaver once. It practically skinned me. Ten years prior, I bought a Braun dual foil electric shaver, but damaged the foils by leaving it in my car console. Twenty bucks after the Remington, I had new Braun foils.
Lesson learned? Never risk your face for cheap shit.
@msayler Never had a problem with Norelcos. The basic models work just as good.
The top of their line models are on sale at Sam’s/Costco every now and then if you need the “I have to shave in the shower” features. They also have groomer heads with the top end models if you don’t like unitaskers.
@mike808@ponagathos@PooltoyWolf I’ve had a Wahl for years, many years, no idea how long… Over 5? I use it a couple times a week. It holds it’s charge for weeks. The one it replaced lasted for years, I’ll guess over 10, before I replaced it.
@Joedetroit@mike808@ponagathos@PooltoyWolf
I’m still using mine (beard trimming), charge it every couple of months . Bought another (duplicate with a different name on it) from Amazon when I dropped the Trym and broke the only guard I really use. Now I just change out the guard from one to the other when it needs charging. Charge up the dead one, put it up and use the other for a few months until it slows down, then charge that one… rinse and repeat. NiCad batteries don’t seem to fare well if you keep them on a constant charge.
@mike808@ponagathos@PooltoyWolf@Telanis I dunno how hard those are to take apart, but they probably just have a NiCad rechargable battery in them that has died. I revived an old trimmer for cheap by replacing that battery with one I found on Amazon($15 for a 2 pack, I think). If one of Y’all has one that doesn’t work, there’s not much harm in “exploratory surgery”.
How are the nicks with this? Because let me tell you, they aren’t pleasant with the one I own right now. I actually prefer my Wahl head trimmer because it’s much more comfortable.
@mattig88@mike808@Num1Zero@omegamonkey Try the Panasonic Facial Hair Trimmer for Women ES2113PC (yes, for women).
I have picked it up for 10 bucks (on sale) direct from their website. It uses 1 AAA battery (downside). It appears relatively weak but surprisingly does the job without any nicking. Make sure the batteries you use are charged, weak batteries can cause a rare nicking.
I actually need a good trimmer…the one I’ve been using was cheap to begin with and really isn’t holding a charge anymore. This one says it has a replaceable blade…is it a proprietary one, or can I find them easily? I’m gonna try this one out and see how well it does.
Can’t find a single review of this anywhere. Go to the website, they sell watches. And sunglasses. And wallets. So naturally they would sell electric trimmers.
You can get much cheaper trimmers, complete with all the extras, from Amazon. We bought a set to trim our dogs last year. Wahl, Norelco/Philips and Remington.
Been using mine weekly until just recently…seems the battery has gone bad after only a few years’ use. It never finishes charging (even after several days) and no matter how long it stays on the charger, it dies after about 20 seconds of use. With the motor unloaded (shaving head removed) it runs a long time, but as soon as you load it down with the resistance of the shaving head and using it, it quits. I’m replacing the battery in mine because it is a good shaver when it works, especially since I can use it in the shower to cut down on the mess! For those wondering, it uses an 802040 lithium ion pouch-type cell, which can be had on eBay for less than $10 if you’re willing to wait on China shipping.

nothing can keep that crack clean.
Sharper look?? What is a dull boy supposed to do??

But what if I want this breed - a kingman? Will the groomer still wing it grooming a king?
That brand name, tho…
@PooltoyWolf Yeah. Way more lame than the brand sold previously, … Trym.
@mike808 @PooltoyWolf I liked that Trym shaver until it stopped charging. Worked well on my dome.
@mike808 That one dosen’t sound as, uh…giggity.
@mike808 @ponagathos @PooltoyWolf My Trym is still working but needs to be charged almost every use. Guess I might as well try this one
@ponagathos Mine stopped charging too.

@mike808 @ponagathos @smokeandlights @Telanis The biggest hurdle is proprietary cell size and connectors, sometimes soldered in as well.
How are the nicks with this? Because let me tell you, they aren’t pleasant with the one I own right now. I actually prefer my Wahl head trimmer because it’s much more comfortable.
What kind of battery is in these? Lithium? NiCad? Lead-Acid? Hydrogen fusion?
@PhysAssist Box claims built-in 600mAh lithium ion rechargeable.
@PooltoyWolf
Thank you for the info!
I appreciate your feedback.
PA
@PhysAssist No problem!
Are these balls friendly? Nicking the balls is the worst. And then the after shave. Like the adult version of home alone…. Ahhhhhh
@Num1Zero use a razor not trimmers down there
@Num1Zero never go below the top of the base with electric trimmers!
@mattig88 @Num1Zero
Just get laser hair removal done. One and done.
At least one person in your life will be thrilled with the results, and if it isn’t you, they will soon convince you it was an outstanding choice.
On the other hand, laser removal is more expensive than $30.
@mattig88 @mike808 @Num1Zero Have you had it done? I always wondered how much time it would take and painful it might be….
@mike808 @Num1Zero no chance in hell a laser is going anywhere near my nethers!

So this is the discount version of that trimmer on YouTube.
@alose Yep the Manscapped or Meridan
Where are the product demonstration pictures? Meh, your cheapness has reached a new low.
Ah, Ted, you hirsuted up.
Wait, this is for grooming…and the brand is Breed…well, don’t grooms always breed? But in this case Breed grooms.
Oh, by the way, today is my 1000 meh click anniversary. Total clicks by the way.
Yellow box makes deal worth the price! USB-C? Bluetooth?
@phelmurh Looks like USB-A on one end of the cord, and a proprietary connector on the shaver side.
@phelmurh @PooltoyWolf proprietary?!?! Yuck!!
@phelmurh @TimW To be fair, I haven’t seen a shaver or trimmer that charges using a standard connector.

@mattig88 I had the same results, heh
Still using my Trym (see above reference to the supplier). Guess I will continue until it dies then maybe get a Toro or Stihl trimmer.
@chienfou Go big or go home:
@macromeh
I was thinking more long the lines of Go home and go big…
You can get much cheaper trimmers, complete with all the extras, from Amazon. We bought a set to trim our dogs last year. Wahl, Norelco/Philips and Remington.
I’m curious what the style guide looks like but afraid to look it up.
@HankB33
/giphy wise man
@chienfou @HankB33 Just think mohawks, except on places you normally wouldn’t think of.
Um, so you can sneak up on your friends while they are sleeping?
@mehcuda67 I was thinking when you have a surprise booty call and need to quickly touch up the bush downstairs.
@alose @mehcuda67 careful of any loose skin, though
VrrrrrrrrrrEERGHrrrrrrrrr
@alose @mehcuda67 I’d think if it’s that kind of call the landscaping around the playground really wouldn’t matter that much.
Wingman. That’s how they kept their chests so smooth and shiny. Thanks, Goose.
Anyone else’s not turning on? I left it plugged in for a day. I get a but it’s not turning on when unplugged.
This thing is true garbage. It couldn’t trim a hair off a newborn.

@PooltoyWolf UPDATE: New battery installed and it’s back to its old self!
