What is it with Meh and speakers/ earbuds/ speaker docks/ speakers in light bulbs/ headphones/ other kinds of speakers? Seems like 50% of the items sold are speakers of some form.
This seems like something that would be very useful to me but only if it has good sound. No fucking reviews on Amazon, so does anyone know if this shit sounds good or not?
This is actually something I could use if it works well, as I often find myself needing to use my cellphone for meetings of a group where most of the people are there on the room with me but some need to call in. I often use Zoom or Skype but the audio quality of my laptop’s speakers and mic are poor compared to an office conference phone. I just wish there were reviews…
@nzdod aside from the genuine cow wrapper, this speaker has two nose cancelling mics that are tuned to pick up voice from a distance and reject room noise, and the speaker is probably tuned to respond best to the frequencies of speech.
Net result: better speakerphone calls, maybe great to listen to podcasts, and probably not great to listen to your trap playlist on.
@djslack Thanks! I’ve seen Jabra devices with similar features. But the absolute lack of customer reviews anywhere is baffling!? And it looks like it’s been around for a while…
I need to start using YDT. It works for so many things more than marketing the same old to customers.
In my current job it is even literal, every IT release the lead brings in donuts for the 5am crowd, and some are usually stillI sitting there the next day. So you pass by as they call out to you, thinking “should I take one and hope it isn’t too stale?”
/giphy yesterday’s donuts today
I think most of you are missing the point. I use a similar Jabra speaker at work with Skype for my phone and it works great. This is not meant for playing your music, it is for making calls and as stated conference calling like the big speaker phones in the middle of conference tables. I have a couple of other Braven speakers and really like them. If i did not already have one, i would not hesitate to but this based on the quality of the other Braven speakers that i have.
@chowland Agreed, this is a fairly specific-use device, though it seems to boast a few side benefits like being a power source and could be used as a BT speaker. I believe that it also has a wired connection, which could be handy. I just don’t think I could plan far enough ahead to have this with me when the need arises, and I can’t see lugging it in my bag full time for the few times a year I would need it.
Good to hear that you like other Braven products, as this thing was introduced at CES in 2015 or 2016 and there are ZERO customer reviews anywhere.
I clicked through to the Amazon page looking for reviews, but got some entertainment instead. For $150 you can get it “with expert installation.” Hey, I’ll do it for $100.
I am so glad I don’t have a job that would require this device. Seems kinda neat, though. Maybe for frequent skypers? Deployed families? Erotic conversations?
Some BRAVEN models allow for TrueWireless. TrueWireless allows you to wirelessly pair two BRAVEN speakers in right & left channel audio.
Connect your device via Bluetooth to one of the speakers. Press and hold the battery check button on this speaker until the voice prompt says “TrueWireless primary pairing.”
Power the second “READY SOLO” on, then double press the battery button on the back of your speaker. The voice prompt will say “TrueWireless secondary pairing.”
The voice prompt will say “TrueWireless Connected” when successfully paired.
@mwarren The Braven Bridge was announced at CES 2015, so that’s about 10 months before TrueWireless was announced, I believe. So, to answer your question, no. Braven Bridge Announcement
@slipperyp I received this the other day and have had an opportunity to use it a couple of times. It’s definitely an upgrade to just using my S8’s speaker.
I don’t know if it would be an upgrade to a wired old-school speakerphone though. Did your dad like it?

More Bluetooth stuff? I’m soooooo surprised …
@narfcake I thought we’d been selling a lot of bluetooth stuff lately. Hm.
@troy Just lately?
@narfcake Okay all the time. Everything needs bluetooth speakers, right @Steve7654?
@troy
/image Bluetooth all the things!
What is it with Meh and speakers/ earbuds/ speaker docks/ speakers in light bulbs/ headphones/ other kinds of speakers? Seems like 50% of the items sold are speakers of some form.
@Steve7654 Speakers are awesome. (Yes, this is bait for MediocreBot, I know.)
DIPLOMAT! RAT-A-TAT! FAT CAT! AWESOME!
@Steve7654 What is it with Meh customers? We keep buying this stuff and encouraging them to sell more.
@sammydog01 @Steve7654 I don’t know about you but I buy them to complain about them later
Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between Braven and Stupiden
No reviews…meh…
The Bluetooth headphone delay amplified by a speaker. What could be … what was th … ok, you ta … I will be qui… what did yo … I am liste … arg, wtf
@hchavers this is when I wish we could give more than one ‘like’ to a post…
@hchavers McMurray, how are you now?
Good morning, Angels.
@JT954 you wins dah Internet’s tonight.
I’m feeling really dumb tonight can someone please explain exactly what this does thank you in advance
@mellowirishgent It’s just a bluetooth speaker like others for your phone. It’s kinda fancy, and boasts an extra microphone, but it works the same.
@mellowirishgent whatever it does, it does it with Mehness.
Do the speakers cancel Momoa?
/giphy why?
Is this another Kickstarter that went out of business
@thechinglish is a kickstarter in business?
Can you hear me now?
I need to mess with it with my Surface 3 for audio recording, maybe Skype. In for 1.
Terse is kinda the opposite of long-winded.
“Terse? I can be terse. Once in flight school I was laconic.”
Not USB-C? You can shove your outdated technology up your USButt, Braven.
@raive ‘USButt’ sounds like something Meh would sell.
@PooltoyWolf Oh no. Nonono. What have I done?!
@PooltoyWolf @raive

@raive Set in motion a series of events that cannot be undone!
@narfcake @raive That looks kinda like my radio holster!
how much for just a chunk of leather without the speaker or battery?
This seems like something that would be very useful to me but only if it has good sound. No fucking reviews on Amazon, so does anyone know if this shit sounds good or not?
@Dizavid I don’t know but I keep seeing Braven speakers at places like Target so I doubt it’s total shit.

How many watts is the speaker
How different are these from other Bluetooth speakers with mic?
@nzdod
Real full grain leather.

@djslack @nzdod My nose is always getting in the way of my mic. In for two!

This actually looks like a really good idea. I can’t think of how I would ever use it.

I love Beaker!!! Yeah, Giphy, you made my day!!
Wait. Bluetooth. Speaker. And a bonus… USB Battery Bank?
But not Alexa-compliant.
Perfect for Meh!
@RedOak So it won’t spy on you!
@RedOak drape some ugly necklace on it and you have a real meh winner!
I would rather be {making better jokes}
@Bumplepimp If you insist…
@Bumplepimp
@Bumplepimp The best comics are clever enough to work clean.

@cinoclav Thanks, that was a great overview - better than anything I had found.
@cinoclav Thank you for sharing the product link.
I have a Braven blue tooth speaker and have been happy with both product performance and Braven customer support.
I clicked through to the Amazon page looking for reviews, but got some entertainment instead. For $150 you can get it “with expert installation.” Hey, I’ll do it for $100.
@AbdiViklas They learned that from Best Buy:
@AbdiViklas What a deal, at my location they want $200.
Gonna give it a try for those work-from-home days

Um…can I get a different meme?
[VMod edit: Done.]
@DebRVA You could have, but it is past the edit window. All you had to do was open the edit window and save it again.

I’m getting one as a potential gift. The brown one has that nice retro 70/80s vibe to it.
@Dengue It does, that’s why I got one.

Zagg wants their newly acquired “Braven” brand to represent “speakers built for adventure”. Incipio’s prior venture into the conference room (ca 2015) doesn’t match this theme at all. In steps some Mediocre employee to help “Braven” shed its corporate attire.
Reeeeeeeeeee! This thing better sound amazing. The other Braven speaker I got from Meh was DICK!!

@Dizavid I must be too old to understand young people nowadays. Does that mean the last ones were good or bad? Now get off my lawn.

@Dizavid @kuoh
I hope this arrives in time so I can give it to my dad for his birthday and he stops using regular speakerphone (and it’s actually better!)
