@thismyusername I second that. These things are hideous. Look at how far they stick out on the foam head. I expect to see these at a dollar store someday.
@f00l are you sure they are the same as these indestructible kevlar headphones? I was going to ask buyers how they sound, but if they busto, then no thanks. Speaking of words with 'o'---this must be the Cinco de Mayo deal!
@f00l Mine broke at the crown of the head after about 10 minutes. Brittle as meh, they were. Goodwill's too good for them. Donate them to Ted Cruz's campaign.
Bought two last time, really liked em for listening at my desk at work. A little offbeat styling and loud enough to wear around my neck even. In for two more to get extra parts to swap around, to make the color combos of my dreams
Picked up 4 pair of these, one for each of two of the kids, and two for backups for when those inevitably broke. These 2 pairs that they started with have lasted longer than all other headphones they've ever had.
I finally bit since the price is so low and bought three for backups for my kids. Even paypal must think this is a bad idea, because the first time I tried, it said my card was declined. After a second or two of panic, I tried again with the same info and it worked.
@MehnofLaMehncha If you can't say anything nice, say it here. If it's worst than what fits here, try reddit. If it's worse than that, check out your local hate groups.
@mike808 don't know but that microphone question has likely been answered somewhere in the comments.
2 of our 3 808's are still functioning fine. We got them as sacrificial to-be-abused-by-the-kids headsets. And were surprised when they actually sounded pretty OK.
@RedOak I was just snarking on the 808s that advertised a microphone feature and there is none. Hence the "virtual" reference, and making the 808s unusable as a hands-free headset.
I would describe my experience with the 808s as satisfactorily utilitarian, and would buy again if these broke for some reason. Also got them for kid abuse, until I got my son that plays e-sports (aka video games) a HyperX Cloud II headset on a BF deal. Mostly, due to lack of microphone on the 808s.
@beboptango Too late for meh. Bought 2. I can make one into white + orange + black => San Francisco Giants. The removable speaker cables means I can do other swaps. It's kind of like a lego headphone, if you know what I ... hmmm ... legos ... glue ... and velcro?!?!? I'll get back to you.
As a professional DJ I never leave my studio apartment without these... they really look great under black light and the foam from the foam machine accents them nicely. I even wear them at home after a long night of pressing play... because I love the pressure across my brain-pan!!!!
Make sure you get VMP and get my latest mix cd, I sell them in the parking lot after the show!!!!
@cshillaber I fucking love your writeups. The research you put in! The detail! The HQ photos! The deathless prose! The testing under combat conditions! The little personal details you share, that make you that much more of an special individual! And your constant struggle to make a better life, with so many obstacles!
@brhfl Actually both. Got an insurance payout. Hit Ebay. Me irresponsible.
Bought HD's from Moscow, RU of all places. They took 48 days to arrive, thanks, customs, for 42 days delay, per tracking! Great deal, i hope, ~$600-700 if i remember? They sound incredible even using Note 4/internal Wolfson dac/no amp/320bps mp3.
Bought IE's from Korea. Forget $? I compared, got a decent deal. Gonna have to get diff earpads or whatever those are called... i cant keep these in tight to get best sound. Comply's?
Cant afford either of these. Fucking worth it anyway.
@f00l Nice! As far as HDs go, I only have the (relatively) lowly 650s, which are very nice, but I have little to no need for these days, so I doubt I'll be upgrading (and may even sell).
The IEs, though, I use regularly on the train. They are truly spectacular, capable of making everything else just kind of melt away. Doubt I'd be able to afford to replace them if they were lost/stolen, but I'd do it anyway. I need to try Comply tips on mine too, my ears seem pretty universally picky about IEM tips. Doesn't help that my earholes seem to be wildly different in size either.
@f00l I got the 650s quite a few years ago from some vendor whose name I can't remember, and who seemed to like to skirt MAP by selling 'like new' items. If I sold them it'd be because I don't really need any sort of full-sized cans these days, so (I think) my wallet would be safe (for a while).
@brhfl Earbuds are great for on the go, but when settles in, and not around a good 5.1 setup or the like, hi-end over the ears are what i want. Bass when needed (unlike so many buds that dont fit me well), spacials, details, warmth....start to remember the way i felt about music a long time ago. I wouldn't be w/out a good set of over-ears.
Meh to headphones, but if we are going in order of what is sold each month then tomorrow might be steak knives. I bought a set last time and need another. Oh please don't let it be a blue tooth lightbulb.
I hate to slag on a Meh deal, but I have two pairs of these, and that's three too many. I love the 808s and the House of Marleys I bought here. These, nope.
@conandlibrarian Two friends and I did so at the last 2-fer, and outfitted a 4th grade class with these. No complaints yet, but the standardized testing (SBAC) is next week. Fingers crossed.
I must be in the minority here. I got a pair awhile back and thought they were decent. As least worth what I paid. I prefer over-ears (or 'cans', as we used to call them). I can't stand on-ears and am very particular regarding in-ears. Anyway, as far as these, I found the getting the cable jacks into the earpieces to be a bit tricky the first time around, resulting in a tinny sound before I realized they weren't all the way in. Once I got past that I had no issues. They are certainly better than some other headphones of dubious quality that I've purchased from meh before for more than this. I wouldn't use these in my music studio but they are perfectly fine for using in the garage or while doing yard work or using with a tablet. I even bought a couple more during the last sale. Is there something wrong with me?
I tried these things on for about 5 minutes and got a headache, that's a new record from headphones for me. These are my most regretful purchase on Meh.

I bought these when they were a twofer. My pair lives next to my computer, when I can put them on and listen to music while my husband watches TV or some such (really, really small house). I wouldn't have wanted to pay a whole bunch more for them, but I think they're pretty nice little cheap headphones. Contemplating buying another pair at $6 for my grandson, so everybody in the house doesn't have to listen to Minecraft videos on YouTube.
Geez what a sore ass write up. If I didn't already have a gizzlion pair of various meh personal ear output devices I would spring for these. Guess we won't have boomswap nixon to kick around anymore
@mauisean either misspelled (they're, not their) or missing a word (their worth IS...) Gotta love spell check, just wish there was auto-grammar check...
I got them on the two-fer last time. 1st pair lasted less than a week before the headband disintegrated. brittle as all get out and snapped into five or six pieces. Meh hooked me up with Polk for warranty dets, and after an initial response from Polk saying they'd open a warranty case, but no word since. takeaway, not durable and no warranty. buyer beware.
These are very heavy on the bass and very tight on the head... but they do sound pretty nice after some EQin'. They also sound pretty good on calls (mic works pretty decently).
Seems like a very good deal for $6... wish I had ordered 2 pair...
Definitely the worst sounding headphones I have ever heard. I am embarrassed to give them to Goodwill. I hope they never come back to Meh since some sucker like myself will buy them.
@arosemena go into the EQ settings and lower the bass... they then sound surprisingly good... for the 30 minutes you can wear them before you get a headache from the tightness.

Meh.
It's stereo Thursday. But, if i keep staying up like this. It'll be Mono on Friday.
@chacham gonna go mono - mono?
I expect less than nothing.
please everyone buy these so they will go away...
@thismyusername I second that. These things are hideous. Look at how far they stick out on the foam head. I expect to see these at a dollar store someday.
I haven't created a baby since reading tonight's item description. Does that count as impotence?
@stinks omnipotent, Joey!
@kus Oh, they meant if I get these, I can make light and apples and snakes and stuff? In that case, in for two! And I'm glad Little Joey's okay.
(I keed Hasselhoff, I keed.)
@stinks
Are you Hassling you know who?
you guys are a bunch of doodieheads!
Just donate these to Goodwill already. Mine broke after a few minutes use.
@f00l are you sure they are the same as these indestructible kevlar headphones? I was going to ask buyers how they sound, but if they busto, then no thanks. Speaking of words with 'o'---this must be the Cinco de Mayo deal!
@wew
Yesh, i was a previous sucker here. No more suckerdom on these, Meh. Try something new, and i might fall under your write-up spell again.
PS - it's the wires out of the earpieces that break - not the main body of the 'phones.
@f00l Mine broke at the crown of the head after about 10 minutes. Brittle as meh, they were. Goodwill's too good for them. Donate them to Ted Cruz's campaign.
@ahobart81
Aw, Jeb Bush needs headphones too!
@f00l So he can hear all the clapping.
@f00l yeah exactly. the wire is the thinnest headphone wire I've ever seen, and just feel so chintzy. Also, the most uncomfortable headphones ever.
Mine also broke at the crown after very little use.
$80 list?! Did i hear that correctly? Wait, let me switch headphones first...
When I was a kid and had to go to the hospital to have my tonsils removed, EVERYTHING in the hospital was that "mint green" color.
Bad mint green experience as a child, so meh.
please put something nice on for my graduation =)
Bought two last time, really liked em for listening at my desk at work. A little offbeat styling and loud enough to wear around my neck even. In for two more to get extra parts to swap around, to make the color combos of my dreams
@SSDDR The colors of your dreams:
@mike808 colorshaming me won't work! I toss them in my lime green gym bag and not care the least
@mike808
Here ya go
Boom goes the dynamite... on your head
Picked up 4 pair of these, one for each of two of the kids, and two for backups for when those inevitably broke. These 2 pairs that they started with have lasted longer than all other headphones they've ever had.

FFS, stop trying to sell us headphones and Bluetooth speakers.
@jgoldshlag shit I love Bluetooth, a friend of mine in federal prison (you know what for) wants bluetooth toilet paper. Anybody know what that is?
@Bkmack
I look forward to finding out.
Someone, find this and link, please.
For the love of all that is holy, please, PLEASE stop selling headphones.
@JustKen The few I've gotten have been shit, minus that one desk lamp/bt speaker thing.
@andrewpatrick the big banana boat speaker is ugly but it's probably the second best I've purchased - next to the lamp one

How do these compare to the 808s?
@mike808
That would be a NO. They don't.
@mike808 good point. Those 808's started out mediocre. So we were pleasantly surprised. These boom swaps deteriorated into mediocrity.
@RedOak Do these also come with the advertised virtual microphone, like the 808s?
Honestly, I got the 808s for what should be obvious reasons. They work fine for work CBT courses.
@mike808 don't know but that microphone question has likely been answered somewhere in the comments.

@mike808 ... aha. Flew right over my head. I do recall that incident now that you mention it.
Still not cheap enough. Bring back the pocket knives.
Dear Meh,
You really know how to sweet-talk a potential customer.
$6 + $5 shipping = temptation. This is very unfair. Meh is making me want something I don't need. How could Meh do this to me? Why Meh, why?!?!?!?!?
@cfg83 go to 5 below and save 6 dollars
@beboptango Too late for meh. Bought 2. I can make one into white + orange + black => San Francisco Giants. The removable speaker cables means I can do other swaps. It's kind of like a lego headphone, if you know what I ... hmmm ... legos ... glue ... and velcro?!?!? I'll get back to you.
Oh sweet, I bought these as a twofer for $14... Can I have my $2 back.
Kidding.
But yeah they're durable alright, but uncomfortable. Sound is okay if you're giving these to someone you're worried will destroy them.
So stupid. So cheap.
Crap. messy-problematic-leather
They're on Amazon for $10 no shipping fee (Prime). And you won't wait a week for them.
@alimack But...If I'm a VMP, it's $6, no additional shipping, and I can wait a week for crappy sure-to-break headphones

Oh good god, why did I buy this shit...
Also got VMP so I guess this will only lead to me spending more money....
@gcdelp thank you for doing your part...
I'll buy one for $3
@DrunkCat Nope, Not 2-for-Tuesday, Sorry.
@DrunkCat I'll give them tree fiddy.
@jaremelz
@thismyusername Oooh, I love that!
God, FINE, I'll buy a pair.
BOOM! There goes money wasted, Meh!
Boom. Headshot.
badda BOOM badda Meh.
Life is too short to mess with cheap headphones..he writes wearing Sennheisers. Now funky weird cameras is another story!
@radi0j0hn
Ahhhhh. Senns.
My beloved 800s. And no, i wont let anyone else's ears touch such bliss.
@f00l IE or HD?
@brhfl
Actually both. Got an insurance payout. Hit Ebay. Me irresponsible.

@brhfl
I misread "earholes" for a sec there.
;)
::::::
PS did you get the 650's on Black Friday at amz? I grabbed some. Same damned insurance payout. Oh well.
If you sell them, look at buysonic (part of sonicelectronix, create an acct) or massdrop for alts.
Watch bank acct in freefall.
@f00l I got the 650s quite a few years ago from some vendor whose name I can't remember, and who seemed to like to skirt MAP by selling 'like new' items. If I sold them it'd be because I don't really need any sort of full-sized cans these days, so (I think) my wallet would be safe (for a while).

why not free with vmp? i can't hear anything out of that sock you sent me 2 years ago.
@elpepe yeah, whats the deal with free crap from my VMP membership. Can't hear anything out of those socks, but they sure do smell.
Meh to headphones, but if we are going in order of what is sold each month then tomorrow might be steak knives. I bought a set last time and need another. Oh please don't let it be a blue tooth lightbulb.
@cwillbwill5 steak knife with bluetooth to let you know when you have reached the plate?
I hate to slag on a Meh deal, but I have two pairs of these, and that's three too many. I love the 808s and the House of Marleys I bought here. These, nope.
@wishlish I think these are from the House of Gnarley.
If these were a bit cheaper, I would buy these for the students at work.
@conandlibrarian Two friends and I did so at the last 2-fer, and outfitted a 4th grade class with these. No complaints yet, but the standardized testing (SBAC) is next week. Fingers crossed.
Boom headphones -- what a blast !!
@shadowzen As long as you don't feel like you wasted your money, you're good.
@shadowzen
You post at the Meh forums, and then you ask if something is wrong with you?
Case closed.
@f00l yep. There are:
1) those who have admitted it.
2) those who haven't yet realized it.
3) those who are in denial.
I tried these things on for about 5 minutes and got a headache, that's a new record from headphones for me. These are my most regretful purchase on Meh.
@snapster
We'll buy you out of these if you'll invite us all to wear them while partying in your Bill-Gates-is-jealous-even-IMAX-is-jealous home theater.
Invites and party must occur during our lifetimes and during these rare moments when members of the greater Mehmunity possess both mobility and coherent sentience. (This does occur. Sometimes this condition in the greater Mehmunity occurs before midnight Eastern Time.)
Just make sure my order # is
LOWEST-COMMON-DENOMINATOR.
Buy a pair for your mother in law or someone else you hate. They sound slightly better and feel much worse than 99 cents only headphones. They're built more sturdy so the pain will last and last.
Great write-up though...
@JonJon I didn't know they had headphones... :O
I dunno. I thought they were alright. I haven't worn them much yet though.
WTF have I done!
cautious-teasing-squirrel
I got 2 of these last time and they are great. sound good comfortable and I can use them as a headset for my phone.... Awesome indeed
You finally got them to my price range.
actually-windy-cup
Had I not cancelled my VMP, I would have easily gotten a pair or two of these. So, yay me.
Bought mine the first time. Definitely worth $6. Not the most comfortable but they sound great, especially if you like bass heavy headphones.
@jschulert I don't. So relief.
OMG I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT'S REAL ANYMORE. THE MIDDLE WORD OF MY ORDER NUMBER IS AN ADVERB, NOT AN ADJECTIVE!!!1 WTFBBQ?????
Geez what a sore ass write up. If I didn't already have a gizzlion pair of various meh personal ear output devices I would spring for these. Guess we won't have boomswap nixon to kick around anymore
These look like their worth about $3.50.
@mauisean either misspelled (they're, not their) or missing a word (their worth IS...) Gotta love spell check, just wish there was auto-grammar check...
@mauisean
Would buy; only have $5.06 in bank.
@achillobator Perfect. Turn on VMP.
$6 shipped, I'm in for one.
Gonna be awesome neckphones for skiing next season.
I bought a pair of these for my 10 year old daughter for christmas. Here we are in May and she hasn't destroyed them yet.
No other headphone has come close to lasting this long. In for 2 more for my other 2 overly-indulged rugrats.
Bought 3 pairs. I am going to try making them fit well with the aid of thermal technology. Hot air rework stations aren't just for soldering.
Does anyone know what the frame is made out of? Every plastic has its own favorite temperatures.
@hamjudo
Videos? Pix?
What happens in a microwave?
Bring back the 808's or the Able Planet Stereo Headphones with Linx Audio. Then we will talk,,,,,
Billions and billions sold. Still some left. 1pm CDT.
I see these shitty ultra breakable headphones are now on VMP Last Call.
If only.....
@f00l they won't go away... but on the bright side, they are not earbuds...
I am @thismyusername and I am a headphone buy-a-holic.
These are very heavy on the bass and very tight on the head... but they do sound pretty nice after some EQin'. They also sound pretty good on calls (mic works pretty decently).
Seems like a very good deal for $6... wish I had ordered 2 pair...
Thanks meh!
Mix and match!
