@Salanth I use my antique Griswold cast iron pan and it requires literally no cleanup. Worst case a quick wipe with a paper towel. Just a plate and a fork that need washing.
@lordbowen One of my favorite samiches! A lavishly large slice of Liverwurst with a large slice of sweet onion on fresh bread that you leave your finger impressions in slathered with lots of mayo and an ice cold beer.
Unless, you have high quality, tinned, sardines, sweet onions, wasabi or Inglehofer horseradish, & slices of fresh ginger on saltines with ice cold beer.
Or a really sloppy, hot meatball sub on a chewy Italian roll…
Or a Italian sausage and peppers sub juicy with the cooked sauces on a good Italian roll…
Or a fresh. very ripe, heirloom tomato still warm and fresh from the garden on that same soft bread (vide supra), with lots of mayo, bacon, lettuce and S&P so juicy that you have to eat it with bare arms while leaning over the sink least you get soaked in tomato/mayo juice, eh?
These are a few of my favorite things…
Don’t get much better than that.
YMMV
@billyboyleo This actually works around here, because I tend to have one or two sous-vide steaks in the fridge. Heat up the frying pan, sear the steaks, and eat! Even when it isn’t prime, they come out really good. We can buy them when they’re on sale at a reasonable price per pound, and they’ll still be ready to go weeks later.
@billyboyleo@werehatrack So how long can you keep the cooked sous-vide steaks that way? You mentioned ‘weeks later’ which is a surprise. But I guess they have been cooked while sealed so I see how that may work.
@billyboyleo@pmarin So far, we haven’t kept them past 5 weeks. I think that’s pushing it, really, but the results were hard to tell from “done yesterday”.
@andyw OMG that is my Fav Lunchtime or any time meal. It has changed a Bit, Whole Wheat Bread with Natural PB (Jif creamy) & it could be Jelly or 'Nana! Been eating them for 60+ years.
@andyw@mycya4me
I eat that a lot when I get home late and am tired. I usually have 6-8 different kinds of unopened fancy jam, preserves or jelly in the back of the cupboard. My all time favorite is sugar plum jam. One of my favorite side is cool ranch Doritos.
@andyw@mycya4me@yakkoTDI
Like in a flour tortilla? That could be good. Have you ever had the peanut butter banana crunch flatbread from tropical smoothie? It’s got banana, peanut butter, granola and honey grilled in a flatbread, it’s so good. Or frying a pb&j is really good too, you just gotta be careful bc the jam gets hot.
@andyw@Star2236@yakkoTDI Nope but it does sounds very good from tropical smoothie! But frying/ grilling (I have a mini George Forman grill) a pb&j sound a bit weird. But Hey if that is what you like, I say go for it!

That is one of my favourites. Sadly I do not have a Tropical Smoothie convenient to me any longer.
@somf69
Never really ate cereal much as a kid but I’ll eat it every once in a while now. Either for a late night snack or dinner. Actually had Frosted Flakes last night.
@somf69@Star2236 well I live dangerous… I have a container, I take 3-6+ different types of cereal. Most of the time it is Malt-O-Meal bagged cereals. Life, a Rasin Bran, corn flakes, rice crispy. I stay aways from the Really kiddy Sugar loaded stuff! then Pour a little bit from each bag/ box into the container till it is full. then I shake it up to mix it. It is different every time! You should try it!
@Kyeh@Star2236 Except when they take forever and then fill the order wrong knowing that you’re now in such a hurry to GTFO that you won’t check to see if it’s right.
There are a couple of nearby fast-food places that we avoid because of such a track record.
@Kyeh@werehatrack
When I say take out I mean from a restaurant, I don’t eat fast food. I think it’s horrible. Panera is as fast as I get. Maybe McDonald’s fries once a year if I’m feely risky.
@Kyeh@Star2236 I haven’t had regular restaurants get a take-out order wrong very often, but it has happened. Those tend not to get called again afterwards. On the other hand, our most reliable source for take-out is a place whose staff is not all that fluent in English, so I just go there and order in person. They never get anything wrong. And the food is good, as are the prices.
@Kyeh@werehatrack
There’s a Mexican store up the street from me where they speak very little English in. They have a full restaurant (no alcohol) and deli for meats. The waitress is always new and a lot of them learn most English from waitressing. I speak very little Spanish but we order from there all the time and their food is excellent, we always figure it out. They never get the food wrong for us but we always make sure to tip the cook (they have a cook tip bucket too) $5 and the waitress $5. The cook always recognizes my face.
Ice cream.
@yakkoTDI With an optional side of Graham crackers, or potentially other things the individual prefers more.
Reservations
@heartny But that is NOT fast!
@heartny @mycya4me but it is easy
@hchavers @heartny But also $$$
@hchavers @mycya4me Have some pizza
@hchavers @heartny Nope, You have have it all!
@hchavers @heartny @mycya4me There could be bananas on the pizza.
@hchavers @heartny @werehatrack well I don’t Like Melted Cheese or Tomato products, Why would you waste a Good Banana on a pizza?
@hchavers @heartny @mycya4me only if you do it American Psycho style and ignore the maître d’
@hchavers @heartny @pakopako Why NOT??
Bacon and eggs and more bacon
@tweezak That’s not easy if you count the cleanup.
@Salanth I use my antique Griswold cast iron pan and it requires literally no cleanup. Worst case a quick wipe with a paper towel. Just a plate and a fork that need washing.
@Salanth @tweezak I actually like saving the bacon grease by letting it cool, then scooping out the lard into an ice cube tray and freezing it.
Liverwurst on pre-sliced kaiser roll or Hawaiian bun.

@Jackinga @lordbowen well you did cause me to learn the term ‘vide supra’ – though I worked with writers for decades I never saw that one.
I thought at first maybe it was a type of bread or condiment.
@Jackinga Added sweet onion to the grocery list. Thanks.
Beanie-weinies
@lonocat Good Idea!
Good leftovers.
@werehatrack, bad leftover are probably just as easy.
@kittykat9180 Bad leftovers get chucked.
Sardines, crackers, and beer.
Yes, I eat easy dinners alone.
@hchavers I’m with you on this one. See above.
Big bowl of Grits w/ Butter!
Steak.

PB&J. !!

@andyw @mycya4me @Star2236 I usually do PB&J in a burrito.
@andyw @Star2236 @yakkoTDI That is a Unique twist… BUT hey PB & J mess it up!
@andyw @mycya4me @yakkoTDI
Like in a flour tortilla? That could be good. Have you ever had the peanut butter banana crunch flatbread from tropical smoothie? @andyw @mycya4me @Star2236 @yakkoTDI
I like a PB&banana sandwich grilled in a buttered pan.
(If it was good enough for Elvis, it’s good enough for me.)
@andyw @mycya4me @Star2236 @yakkoTDI mmm. Grilled pineapple banana & jelly.
@andyw @pakopako @Star2236 @yakkoTDI Never tried it … sounds yummy! Have you tried it??
@andyw @pakopako @Star2236 @yakkoTDI That is also a good reason, But not the one I chose!
@andyw @mycya4me @Star2236
Yes. Most times I include a banananananana.
That is one of my favourites. Sadly I do not have a Tropical Smoothie convenient to me any longer.
Cereal
@somf69
Never really ate cereal much as a kid but I’ll eat it every once in a while now. Either for a late night snack or dinner. Actually had Frosted Flakes last night.

@mycya4me @somf69
It’s a science experiment and breakfast all in one. My younger brother would love it.
@somf69 @Star2236 You & your brother should try it. You are NEVER to Old to try it!
Egg sandwich
Can of soup
@heartny
@heartny @yakkoTDI disappointed that it’s not a true metal can tho…
@catthegreat @heartny Don’t be too disappointed. Other videos show more challenging things than soup cans.
@catthegreat @heartny @yakkoTDI The iPhone blends were particularly satisfying back when I followed the channel.
One that someone else in the cooks - easy for me and fast for me as I don’t have to do the prep. I just show up to eat it.
Beans and rice… the kind you just add water too… not so easy if you make it from scratch. (although not that hard either)
Skipping dinner.
/giphy That was easy!
Take-out. There’s a BBQ place about 6 blocks away that’s really good.
@Kyeh
Take out is always fast and easy.
@Kyeh @Star2236 Except when they take forever and then fill the order wrong knowing that you’re now in such a hurry to GTFO that you won’t check to see if it’s right.
There are a couple of nearby fast-food places that we avoid because of such a track record.
@Star2236 @werehatrack Well, the place I mentioned isn’t actually a fast-food joint; it’s a real restaurant that does lots of takeout orders.
@Kyeh @werehatrack
When I say take out I mean from a restaurant, I don’t eat fast food. I think it’s horrible. Panera is as fast as I get. Maybe McDonald’s fries once a year if I’m feely risky.

@Star2236 @werehatrack Yeah, it seems like those tiny ethnic places are some of the best.
@Star2236 @werehatrack Oh, I guess it doesn’t sound that tiny, but anyhow - places that are really about the food and not the “ambiance.”
/showme a banana pizza about to be eaten by a bunch of minions
