@RiotDemon I think the bigger concern would be use with devices requiring only one or two AAs, since the adapter seems to output 4.5v regardless. That would kill some devices.
@Kidsandliz@shahnm@blaineg I assume this is some kind of joke. I want to get the joke. I desperately need to get the joke. I am trying so hard to get the joke. But zip. Nada. Bupkis. I am so sad that I do not get the joke. The only thing I can think of is that it is totally unconnected to anything, and that’s the joke. No joke.
@blaineg@shahnm@ThunderChicken The joke - the running joke is that shahnm keeps his batteries in the fridge and brings it up regularly in humorous ways. He even jokes he bought fridges just for his batteries. If this new plug in battery takes over the world his batteries in his fridge will be obsolete. He will have excess refrigerators. The mob may need places to put bodies while they figure out how to dispose of them. Thus his refrigerators will still have a purpose in this world.
@blaineg@Kidsandliz@shahnm@ThunderChicken realizing how long this has gone on is my “thing to make me realize how time is slipping from me faster than I realize. Why, God? Why do you torment me so?” moment for today. Fortunately, I’m about to head for sleep filled with aging nightmares. Hello again, haunted nursing home with Drew Carey sucking away my life using a variation on the machine from The Princess Bride. It’s nice to have this time together.
@blaineg@Kidsandliz@shahnm Ak, thanks Kidsandliz. In my time with meh I have seen some of the posts about keeping batteries in the fridge. But having never really been in on the gag, the mere mention of fridges in a battery thread was a bit too subtle for me. Not that the post was subtle.
@blaineg from what we have seen on here on meh @shahnm’s batteries have somehow become sentient and shahnm has walked right into the trap. We are all in danger as they plot to take over the world invading as trojan horses via our electronics, flashlights, drones, etc. while innocently residing in our fridges. @ThunderChicken you are probably safe from falling victim if you buy a second fridge just for your batteries never opening the door unless you need to. @shahnm made the initial mistake of keeping his batteries in with his food…
@blaineg@Kidsandliz@ThunderChicken I was a willing participant. I humbly serve at the pleasure of my delightfully chilled batteries. You infidels will never have such power.
@blaineg@Kidsandliz@shahnm@mehcuda How timely. Recent circumstances brought a second fridge into my life. I was going to use it to store white wine, which should generally be served at temperatures unsafe for food storage. But now I realize it came into my life to be a caretaker for my batteries. Crap, now I need a third fridge.
@blaineg@Kidsandliz@shahnm If you mean me, no doubt here. I’ve known for decades about cold storage of batteries. What I haven’t known is the backstory of much that goes on in this forum. I’d gladly trade the former for the latter.
Old Skool! I had one with faux-‘C’ cells in the eighties, for my Frogger machine. Great for anything that needed 6V, had a four-‘C’ tray and no external power jack.

Interesting item! Reading the questions it seems that this only works for items that use 3 batteries since the output is 4.5v.
It would be a nice item for meh, especially if they had adjustable voltage.
@RiotDemon A logical conclusion, but:
4.5v might be acceptable even for replacing 4 batts. That’s 1.125v per slot, and some rechargeables are 1.2v. Would depend on the device.

@ThunderChicken found one with adjustable adapter!

$25 though…
And just what exactly the fuck am I supposed to do with these refrigerators, asshole?
@shahnm
@shahnm The mob might have some ideas for you.

JOKES?!?
@blaineg @Kidsandliz @ThunderChicken
It all started back on November 28, 2017. Meh put up an absurd poll. The rest, as they say, is batteries…

@blaineg @Kidsandliz @shahnm @ThunderChicken Was it really 2017?! That means I need to rotate some batteries into a different fridge already!

@Kidsandliz @shahnm @ThunderChicken So, you were a doubter?
