Backgrounds
6What is the background on your phone, tablet or computer? Are you the type to have just one single background forever (maybe the one that it originally came with?) Maybe you have a giant file folder that constantly rotates pictures? Do you change them according to change in seasons, sports, mood etc?
Here is the one on my computer at home.

It’s usually a recentish pic of my kid that I love.
@Thumperchick You’re such a mom!
@Thumperchick The wording kinda implies that you have multiple kids, but only the one you love gets to be your background.
@fibrs86 @Thumperchick
Ooh, pick me, Mom!
@fibrs86 @Thumperchick I have 3 wonderful kids…and 2 others.
Plain grey background on computer desktop. I don’t want people seeing pics of my kids or other things I’m interested in when I share my screen or present it on a projector. (yes, some screen share apps have options to hide the wallpaper, but not always)
My phone background is one of those “live” ones that shows an aerial view of a coastline with waves lapping the shore.
@medz I put a screensaver of rusty antique pickup trucks on the laptop I used for presentations. Interesting, but not at all personal.
@moondrake Neat, but Disney did it better.
@medz I really wouldn’t call that better.
I change my background when I get bored of seeing it behind the windows on my screen. Right now I have an ESO wallpaper on one screen and a JK wallpaper on the other.
At work…a fairly recent pic of my tot…at home…an art pic that I love…my phone…me and my s.o.

Computer rolls through a folder of Galaxy photos.
Phone and tablet use the Magic Fluids app. I currently have purple, green, and orange trails on my phone.

In the low 80s today! Amazing.
@RiotDemon Hey, you’ve got a message.
@Targaryen I’m so important!!
Mine is of Hubbie and I on a flea market date this summer. I didn’t take screenshot because I have so many apps, you can’t really see the background on any of the pages.
A little of this, a little of that.
@Moose is that current or from the other thread?
In other words, is it worse than it was?
@RiotDemon this was last time, back in January:
@Moose It hurts my eyes to look at all that mayhem!

@Moose
/giphy dear God why
3x the displays = 3x the fun!
The future ex-Mrs. @ruouttaurmind, taunting me from every angle…
@ruouttaurmind You might like some of John Westcott’s work. He does some photos similar to this. https://picgra.com/user/bottomfeederphoto/3006852927
@Targaryen Bit of a boudoir influence mixed with some pinup. He seems to like the shapely ladies too.
I haven’t owned a competent computer for a few years now. The wallpaper on my phone is a…let’s just say ‘tasteful NSFW’ piece of furry artwork made by the artist known as Rukis. I won’t share it here due to the juicy details. o3o
@rtjhnstn loving the last one.
@RiotDemon @rtjhnstn Agreed! This could be a candidate for meh’s first photo poll- “Pick the panel that looks most like Uranus”
@rtjhnstn I liked your “Ministry of Silly Walks” one enough that I changed my wallpaper for the first time in years.
@rtjhnstn The national geographic trees and ice one is really nice too.
@Kidsandliz @rtjhnstn That’s the one I like.
Right now I have been using this for almost everything.
My laptop has rotating screenshots from one of my TS3 families. My tablet has a photo I took in Michigan a few years ago. My phone has a picture of my niece and nephew.
The Michigan photo
My computer background is just black, and my phone has the default background.
/image default background image
I use a solid medium blue background.
I use a screen saver that slideshows images from Microsoft’s Spotight images (the lock screen images from Bing) that I download onto a network shared folder. You can get them too via a free app called “Spotbright” and periodically download the new ones.
I gave up the control of my wallpaper to the NASA image of the day through IFTTT.
I just use one of the sets of windows themes and change them when I want to. this is true on personal laptop, and mini lap.
tablet and phone have commercial coffee wallpapers
work doesn’t let us change them. it doesn’t even logo them, just windows default

My phone is usually one of my kitties. Work computer background I change pretty often- pics of me and friends, or my cats, or just pretty pics I see online, although more often than not it’s pics of orca whales in our area- the transient group and the SRKW’s that come in whale updates.
When we got our first smartphones in 2008, I took a picture of a puppy on a calendar that looked like what I imagined our recently departed dog looked like as a puppy (she was 14 months when we adopted her). That same snapshot has survived the upgrades since and is still on my phone. The Macbook has a pic of our last dog (also departed) on a happy day in a grassy field.
This photo fits perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy Note8 and my iPad. I also use a one third section from the middle as a background on my laptop and desktop. I find it very calming.
I haven’t seen the background of my computer for a couple years, so not sure what’s back there - i think its some sort of forest-y scene …
I had just attended a funeral for a high school friend, and wasn’t exactly feeling super, but I walked out the back door of the funeral home & something spoke to me in this scene. Just pure tranquility…It’s been on my desktop at work since then. If you’re curious, this is the Otter Tail River in Fergus Falls, MN.
What sources do you guys use to find your pre-made backgrounds? I use Zedge’s app when I feel like switching it up.
@Targaryen Internet Search Engine
@Targaryen just search the internet. If I’m looking for computer sized photos, I change the option in Google to give me results of whatever pixel ratio I need. Or I make my own.
@Targaryen Backgrounds OGQ in the google play store.
@RiotDemon Oh sure I can do all that sometimes the Zedge has some that people make for phone that can work on a computer screen I find there as well.
I like to peer at the mountains of Skyrim.
@zinimusprime I have Skyrim on Steam but I haven’t even cracked into it yet.
@Targaryen @zinimusprime put aside some time.
I’m on vacation next week, I’m hoping I get to dive into Skyrim again. It’s been too long.
@RiotDemon @Targaryen @zinimusprime
I just prefer RPGs where you control multiple players in a party
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@compunaut @RiotDemon @Targaryen @zinimusprime
Leeroy Jenkins, is that you?
@compunaut @mike808 @RiotDemon @Targaryen
I just like kicking the crap out of dragons and climbing random mountains.
@compunaut @mike808 @Targaryen @zinimusprime
Just bought a new phone a few days ago and can’t find old wallpaper so just changed it out.
@lseeber C-Christmas?
@Targaryen Actually… NOT Christmas. Winter scene. It’s still hot in Alabama.
One of my cats who had died on my computer. Default on my phone.
We were going to take a team photo at work, so I grabbed this image real quick as motivation for my teammates. Setting it as my desktop background was the easiest way to make sure everyone saw it.
Amazingly we still ended up taking a picture all standing in a line and smiling.
I still haven’t changed my background, though.
My lock screen is the currently monthly schedule for my hockey team with some kind of team picture, and my home background is the most recent cutest family picture.
I have apps on my tablet and laptop that rotate through a dozen pictures of friends and pets. I have an app on my Roku that lets my tv rotate thru a couple of hundred pictures of friends, pets, travel and special occasions. I usually use it during parties or when I have guests. Lets the tv become a 65" hd photo frame, good conversation piece or something for the quiet types to look at. This is the background on my phone. I tried the rotating app but few of my photos are suitable for cropping to 2/3rds portrait width, I took this one specifically for it.
