August 15 -- National Chant at the Moon Day
10Today is National Chant at the Moon Day, a great excuse to get out of the house tonight and chant, squeal, how, or shriek at the nearest celestial object, our beloved Moon.
Why would you want to do that? That’s really up to you. Maybe you want to celebrate making your last mortgage payment. Maybe you think chanting at the moon will make your tomatoes grow better. Maybe you want your neighbors to avoid you.
Why will you be chanting at the moon tonight, or any night?

The moon won’t rise until 3am here

I had to stop. It usually involved a wee bit too much bourbon and later, regret.
Sometimes I thank it for being there and lighting the way at night. Sometimes I complain at it for being too bright at night.
When I first moved to my house… I thought the neighbors had a light outside at night that was shining in my window. Nope, just the moon. I have blackout curtains now.
