Wow thanks. Was already in library, so I missed it.
Here is a direct link to the book.

Some audible freebies are temp offers, others permanent. Anyone who wants this, don’t wait.
@sammydog01 - jic this is a perm freebie, I’m gonna add it to the long audiobook thread. Hope that’s ok?
If not ok, then my apologies.
@f00l I ends on Wednesday (Nov 2). It’s a novella, 2 hours and change. I’m enjoying it. Thanks for posting the link.
I listen to audiobooks from the library every day. This is great, I own one now. Thanks, @sammydog01!
@KDemo I get a lot from the library but I’m picking up a few from Audible. I’m getting an Amazon Dot for the bathroom so I can listen to books in the tub. Don’t judge me.
@sammydog01 - Haha, I listen to podcasts on my trusty little x-minis while showering.
@sammydog01 Here comes the judge.
@KDemo those x minis are great shower speakers for us too!
Has anyone actually hooked up more than one pair together and is it worth it?
@KDemo Tonight I tried floating my banana boat speaker in the tub while listening to a Robert McCammon book. It worked great until I fell asleep.
@luvche21 - I just use two at a time, I have a pair of bt ones meh offered long ago, and a pair of wired ones. I mostly use the wired ones in the bathroom, and bt when travelling. You might check the product thread to find out about stringing more together?
Got it, and thanks. I’ve shared it with other bibliophiles. How do you search for other freebies?
@OldCatLady
i don’t know a way to search the site for freebies. Sometimes they appear on the home page.
Otherwise slickdeals.net (you can put up a permanent search for “audible.com” there which will notify you.
@OldCatLady
This one is free I think permanently

I am gonna put whatever I might find in the audiobook thread here:

Sometimes they do a free book for the holiday period. If the past they offered Tim Curry’s reading of A Christmas Carol. I don’t think it’s free now but it’s usually free from for a month or two.
Overdrive is s downloadable audiobook app that uses your public library’s catalog as the book source. The player is at least decent, and the books are always free.
You just have to have a library card. After that you don’t have to go to the library. You can even get onto a waiting list for audiobooks that are “checked out”. (each library has a limited # of digital licenses per book.)
@f00l
Oops. Fucked up
@OldCatLady, OZ is not free
If you want free audiobooks, talk to your library about Overdrive app for iOS and android. Content is free for that.
@f00l Overdrive and I are old friends, and I always have ebooks and occasional audiobooks checked out. That’s not the same as hoard- er, owning them.
@OldCatLady Thinking of you… free audio book…

no idea if the book is any good…
@mikibell It looks promising, and I got it. Thanks!

Already had it, but thanks for the find.
Wilkie Collins, by some estimates, wrote the first ever mysteries (The Woman In White, The Moonstone), a number of other very readable Victorian novels (a few, if I remember, with a strong spiritualist emphasis, which was interesting to me to read of [he doesn’t present the ideas through an occult approach]), and his novels can be very enjoyable.
I haven’t done this one yet.
If you like Wilkie Collins, there may be some other audible freebies, or really cheap kindle/audible combos, since the print books are long out of copyright.
@mikibell Voiced by Gillian Anderson! But it’s really short. Thanks!
Oh wow, thanks, @mikibell!
