Speaking of premature- I was out this past weekend with my husband eating pho and the waiter prematurely gathered up all the sriracha bottles to refill them. It was about 15 minutes til close but there was still a full house and I was still using the darn stuff. Though I didn't say anything, maybe it bothered me more than it should.
@jenny If you didn't immediately slap them out of the waiter's hands and clutch them in a death grip, it didn't bother you as much as it should. Sriracha is amazing.
@jenny The local pho restaurant has both Sriracha and sauce that the owner makes by himself. I put a teaspoon of the owner's sauce in my pho. Then I tasted the Sriracha. Sriracha tastes excessively sweet. It has way too much sugar. I should point out that I frequently make myself cheese, avocado, and habanero sandwiches
I disagree, Irk. It's not the issue of stopping the microwave early, it's that the early stopper doesn't hit "clear" and thus inconveniencing the next person to use the microwave, forcing them to push "clear" before they can heat their food.
@matthew It's common-fucking-courtesy. (That sounds a little harsher than I might like, but I otherwise like it, so, thus it shall remain--but no offense.) @JonT Amiright?
Am I the only one still using a rotary timered microwave? 10k mA Power Now charger added for authentication purposes....I mean who else but us has these...sorry its not purple
@marklog this was grandpa's before he passed away....10 years ago. If meh sells a microwave with a tshirt, I'm biting at any price since I have the VMP
Anyone ever taken one of these timers apart to see how the scale changes abruptly at the 10 minute mark? Anyone ever microwave anything longer than 10 minutes?
@walarney My daughter microwaved hot dogs until they were about 1.5" long. Don't know if that took more than 10 minutes or not to get them that small but I bet it took a pretty long time. PS She ATE them. Yuck.
@Irk, the 2nd half. I agree with you. I always stop the microwave early if I am near, not that I am a late night nuker, but cancel is a single short beep. (and they say I over analyze everything.)
The only thing that has really ever bothered me about a microwave are the things my Dad used to cook in there. When I was a teenager, I remember he used to throw in things like raw beef heart and let them fully cook (not just thaw to cook elsewhere). I hated the smell and I can't imagine it tasted very good, especially when paired with unflavored ramen. This wasn't a money issue and it wasn't because my Mom didn't cook (she did and it was good)- he just often seemed to like gross, fast meals. Though, McDonalds and other fast food restaurants were out of the question for him most of the time because he thought that was "garbage."
My brother has the most ridiculously complicated microwave ever made. It can convect. It can grill. It even has a whole list of "crusty" items that it can cook. It was like $1,000 and he can't figure out how to cook something basic without reading the manual. The best part? It's made by a company called SMEG! :o
Does my frist post bother you less than it should?
So who is Irk going to wake up with his 2 AM micro-wavings? Does he have a family? Does he room with Glen? The people need to know.
@darksaber99999 Theses sound like good questions to put in the Ask Irk thread!
@JonT

@JonT I have much to learn.
@jenny for husbands sake please try not to use the words husband and premature in the same sentence ever again
@jenny Better to take it off the table instead of closing the plant down forever http://eatocracy.cnn.com/2013/10/30/oooh-burn-sriracha-factory-neighbors-complain-about-smell/

@hamjudo Homemade chili sauce is always good. You're wrong about Sriracha, but it's okay to be wrong.
@jenny http://theoatmeal.com/comics/sriracha
@escowhat Hahaha. I just re-read what I wrote and realized I probably could have worded it better. At least the intro. Poor hubby.
@JonT The "Without Sriracha" was definitely me- eating angrily and inwardly cursing the day the waiter was ever born.

I consider myself a connoisseur of trivial grievances, and this one may be the most rarefied I've ever encountered

@escowhat much respect to the vintage 'wave. Also, +1 for the popcorn marker setting around 3 minutes.

@Kidsandliz See @JonT's gif below.
@escowhat Would you still buy if it was combined with a speaker dock?
@dashcloud tough one...could I nuke the speaker dock in the microwave?...if so, then yes!
@walarney thats my question....they really needed to put 30 minutes on there....was this before fire?

@jenny
@jenny I think I just puked in my mouth a little.....
My friend just broke my old microwave... So I'm in the market for a new one. What should I get? I'd prefer it to be red.
@BillLehecka Link
@JonT That was my old microwave... :( I was hoping for something newer.
@JonT This is more like it: http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/i/spin/image/spin_prod_882138812?hei=600&wid=600&op_sharpen=1&qlt=90,0&resMode=sharp&op_usm=0.9,0.5,0,0 http://www.kmart.com/kenmore-1.1-cu-ft-countertop-microwave/p-011W005727783001P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1
@BillLehecka ?
@hollboll That frightens me... Do you wash your clothes in it?
@BillLehecka you could but I have a feeling you wouldn't get very far.
I have a red Washer/Dryer set that I adore.
@BillLehecka is this your kitchen?
@JonT No, BUT I'D LOVE IT!!! Other than the lack of a ice/water machine. I like the theme of Coca-Cola in my kitchen.
@JonT What every house needs: a kitchen that matches the garage.
@BillLehecka I am sure meh will send you a red sharpie… those they seem to give away.

@jsh139 Better than being made by Smegma...
@BillLehecka
I feel like I should respond to this thread, but it bothers me that it doesn't bother Irk.
@JMACKIE3501 Irk, adorable though he may be, is a small, snarky, not-so-attractive puppet. Irk is wrong in so many ways. Including this one.
It turns out there's more to this issue than we previously suspected.
