@bleedmichigan this is meh, not BestBuy… and even they charge a premium for usb-c. Just get a Usb-c to DisplayPort adapter for ~$20 and enjoy the decent cheap monitor…
@dalycitymike No, after all the crap that Meh has peddled for the last month I want to see them turn the corner. Offer meh items but of higher quality. Stop selling the same thing every other week. I love a good fire sale but I’ve seen these monitors 3 times this month.
@craigthom if there was a mouse maybe I could forgo the lack of USB C. Hell maybe even a bag of candy corn or two as my kids have already eaten the first 2 bags.
@bleedmichigan USB-C just isn’t that common. It’s a niche offering and expecting to find such an item on a deals site like Meh is wishful thinking. If you want a deal on a monitor you should invest in a USB-C to DisplayPort cable. If you want a USB-C monitor, you’ll probably need to shop elsewhere for at least a few years.
I totally bought one of the 24" monitors during the meh-rathon. I’m still waiting on it to arrive. While tracking says it should arrive Thursday, my ahem “travel massager” said it should arrive Wednesday, and arrived today. Hopefully, that means it will arrive Monday.
Though that won’t be soon enough to review here, for the day it’s being sold again. I would have loved to review had this come up on Wednesday.
I picked up one of the 28" 4K monitors. It works great with my Macbook but the hardware can only drive it at 30Hz. Ah well, I don’t game with it anyway – I stick 3-4 large terminals on it.
Interestingly, although OS X is fine with it, Fedora Linux seems to have issues – my system will reliably lock up doing something (seems to be a different thing every time I reboot) and unplugging the 4K monitor unwedges things. Maybe something in Fedora doesn’t like FreeSync…
@RiotDemon Thank heavens, I am not the only wooter with way too much time on my hands.
Incidentally, I still don’t know what the heck I was starting at.
Here’s a lovely review about the society movie with extra photos. My favorite is the hand coming out of the mouth, or the head coming out of the butt, lol
I won’t link the actual photos in case someone gets upset. Don’t know why I care today.
@RX7 given that it’s the weekend I would suggest putting in an order for two just to get the inventory tied up for you and ask for a credit on the shipping. They’ve sold these a few times God only knows how much inventory is left
@RX7 It’s too late now, but if you need this again, click on the head icon at the top of the page and select your orders, you will have a cancel link next to the order number for a short time (I think one hour) after ordering.
Leddit is NOT fucking cool, Meh. It’s about the most dorky thing you could possibly be involved in. It’s worse than LARPing. Just let that sink in for a minute.
@everfalling yeah this monitor keeps coming up and I keep not purchasing for that exact reason. It’s a shame too because I’d love to replace the 24 inch monitor I have on Roku Duty above my 3x27 array
@canuk yeah but fer real its good. Like, fixed my chronic back pain good. and ikea started offering a kinda reasonably priced one if you don’t mind cranking it. (If ya know what I’m sayin’) Fuuuck building that thing though. Nearly gave me more back problems hauling it inside.
@quantumturk I have one too, I just find that clip funny because it was so me when I first got one. You know who sells an awesome high quality one for cheap is a company called Autonomous
I don’t want to pay extra for a gaming quality monitor.
Actually, my dream monitor is something big, light weight, excellent image quality, and some quirky design issue that makes it too Meh for the ordinary consumer.
For example, back before Meh, when $99 was an amazing price for a 22" 1080p monitor, I bought some from Woot. They were so affordable because they had confusing hinges in the base that were easy to break.
Under Woot’s changed management, they kept selling them periodically for years without adjusting the price. The fixed price gradually morphed from amazingly low to meh to stupidly high.
Note to Meh buyers; Please offer affordable 4k computers before offering affordable 4k monitors. Or wait until there is something like a 4k Raspberry Pi.
I would love to buy one of the 24", but last time you sent me a screen it had an actual dead bug between the screen and backlight… After responding to my support request saying “nobody would be happy with that” you never responded again and I’m left with the faulty screen.
If I purchased this one now, would you support me if it had dead pixels (or good forbid, dead bugs behind the screen)?
Just bought one but if I can’t get my money’s worth I’ll probably cancel: am I gonna be able to utilize the 144hz with my Saphire Radeon R9 280x 3GB card and an AMD FX-8320 8 core CPU?
@timstm like amorganskafte said it’s going to be entirely dependent upon the game and your respective graphics configuration in that game. For example, GTA V on Ultra? Forget it. Tetris? Absolutely.
Maybe give us some idea as to what games you want to play with it?
@jbartus certainly! I mainly play pubg, rocket league nowadays, but have no gripe with turning down graphics to increase fps at all. Also dabble in witcher 3, fallout 3/NV/4, L4D2. I’ll probably just play around with seeing what I can do once the monitor is here. Although I am curious to know where the bottlenecking might be - are there any resource monitoring tools anyone knows of that I might be able to track that kind of info? Will be doing some research on this later when I have the time
Missed the deal again…was looking at the 28 to run with my work laptop (4K). But a day full of soccer tournament for the son kept me out of here (and sadly the 28 didn’t see the light of day on the meh-rathon)
Man, tracking shows they are in the next town over and I just got a notice that the delivery date was DELAYED by 2 days. But they are so close! It’s like someone postponed Christmas
My original delivery date was set to be on Mon. Oct 2nd but Christmas came early and it was delivered today!
The monitor itself is in pristine condition, the only way you can tell that it’s a refurb is if you look at the stand, it’s scratched up to hell and back.
My 24" does not work at 144hz, nor does the diplayport work. This is my first time buying on Meh, do they not have a responsibility to get you a working product? What are our recourses here. Credit Card Chargeback?
I’m a little sad the 28" doesn’t go up to 144hz. I thought it did and ordered without hesitation. I wanted one for gaming. Now I just have an extra 28" monitor laying around. Meh
I’ve had TWO defective ones. First one the screw hole for the base was stripped, so I couldn’t even attach it. Meh took it back, and sent me another “refurbished” one that looks more like it came straight from a customer (nice work AOC!). No warranty info inside, and half the packing stuff was on the bottom of the box like it had been taken off by someone trying to use the monitor. This one has a line of green pixels stuck on running from the top of the screen halfway down. Trying to get Meh to take this one back now.

Nice
Pfft, I bought one of these during the mehrathon. The noobs need to stay on top of things.
I C no USB C so U won’t C my money
@bleedmichigan It’s a monitor, not a mouse.

@jbartus
But if everybody takes that same stance, then USB-C will never rapidly increase in adoption.
Fresh Meh

Please give us some new items… And not circus peanuts.
@RiotDemon Please give us some circus peanuts.
meh, please send all your artificial banana flavored styrofoam straight to @sammydog01 and spare us all.
@sammydog01 no circus peanuts, but perhaps there is some candy corn in your future purchase history.
@mike808
/8ball will meh sell circus peanuts for @sammydog01?
Most likely
@sammydog01 looks like you will likely get some. Don’t blame me if you don’t. Blame the 8 ball cuz then it means meh programmed it apparently to lie.
TN panel? They still make them like that?
@lichme will see a stats spike today for that vibrator deal. There must not be an easy (or easier) internal tool to get the URL for an old deal.
That’s kind of a cool symbiotic relationship, actually.
Exactly what I wanted to do on a Saturday night at midnight spend $200 on a refurb monitor
I picked up one of the 28" 4K monitors. It works great with my Macbook but the hardware can only drive it at 30Hz. Ah well, I don’t game with it anyway – I stick 3-4 large terminals on it.

@kensey You usually need to use Display Port for 4K/60hz
Do I need an expensive video card to do 4K?
@ILikeMeh ehh maybe a highish tier graphics card would work. but yeah i dont think we’re ready for 4k to be the norm yet. im happy with 1080 for now.
1080 + 144hz is amaaaazingggg
@ILikeMeh Only if you want a gaming quality 4K card.
@ILikeMeh For gaming, yes. For everyday work, no.
Overwatch? Pffffttt. All the kewl kidz r balls out for PUBG (Player Unknown BattleGrounds) these days. What rock you been hiding under?
@mike808 I have the game. I’m honestly not crazy about it. It’s too slow paced for my liking
First meh purchase, hopefully, one of many
One can hope for a gsync deal
@pforpho welcome to meh!
/giphy welcome
@pforpho Ahoy prorpho! If you enjoy cheap crap, then you’ll be fine here.

@squishybrain I’ve stared at that gif for way too long trying to figure out if inappropriate things were happening or not.
@RiotDemon Thank heavens, I am not the only wooter with way too much time on my hands.

@CANNONFODDER thanks. Looked it up last night but didn’t come back to share with the world. Weird shit.
@YourNameHereX you mean mehtizen?
@CANNONFODDER What the everloving flippityfark?

Time to drown my buyer’s remorse in some whisky.
If the 4K one had HDR I would of bite.
Just ordered one, and realized I could afford 3, is it possible to cancel my order and make a single order for 3? Since the $5 shipping doesn’t go up.
@RX7 You can cancel your order. Make sure you order three then cancel your first order. Don’t cancel first because they may run out in the meantime.
@squishybrain theres no options to cancel order, I had to write an email sorta thing
@RX7 given that it’s the weekend I would suggest putting in an order for two just to get the inventory tied up for you and ask for a credit on the shipping. They’ve sold these a few times God only knows how much inventory is left

@Dizavid I think meh is actually engaging in Treddit (trolling Reddit). Offering candy corn is the clue.
@Dizavid Seems like basically the same thing as posting here to me. Using weird nicknames for reddit may be worse though.
28" no VESA compatibility? damn i was all set to get this too. what a shitty design decision.
@everfalling yeah this monitor keeps coming up and I keep not purchasing for that exact reason. It’s a shame too because I’d love to replace the 24 inch monitor I have on Roku Duty above my 3x27 array
Same boat, was all ready to go 4k, but no vesa means I can’t use it on my standing desk setup.
@quantumturk
@quantumturk if you want a powered option these are quite reasonable really:

There’s also these which @canuk mentioned:

I prefer slow games.

@timstm You should be fine. I’m running the same setup more or less but I have a I5. Really just depends on the game.

@facousinker
@facousinker I got notification today Sept 25
@facousinker you should look again.
Did anyone else get a wrong cable? I can’t connect the usb ports to my motherboard

Just plugged mine in and I have a dead pixel, the AOC warranty above goes to europe, and there is no option for the U.S. Huh?
@zorro
http://us.aoc.com/contact_support.php
@zorro I just plugged mine and it has NO DISPLAY. I really wish I had yours with a dead pixel because I already sold my old one.
Likewise got a bum unit out of the 28" batch. Worked for 2 days and then went glitchy turning off and on randomly.
My 24" does not work at 144hz, nor does the diplayport work. This is my first time buying on Meh, do they not have a responsibility to get you a working product? What are our recourses here. Credit Card Chargeback?
