I've never been able to buy things on Meh from my phone or my PC. It tells me my billing address is invalid. I found another threat once that said try putting the apartment number before the street address (which is how Capital One lists it on my statements) but that doesn't work either. When I put in my ZIP code (55125) Meh selects St. Paul, but I actually live in Woodbury (CapOne says St. Paul, though). I've tried every combination of options and none have worked.
I emailed them and never got a reply... I just want to buy stuff from your stupid website!
@Thumperchick@cengland0 thanks for the replies. I did use the form on their website, and I don't have a spam folder (self hosted email), so I either deleted it in a drunken rage (likely) or they didn't respond. I don't recall getting any confirmation that I emailed them or how to see that it ever happened...
@fury if your statement says St. Paul, then put that as your billing address so the funny credit card validation they use is happy, however, use your correct address for your shipping address and you should be fine.
@fury When did you send us an email? We're pretty good about getting back to people within 24 hours. You can try what @TaRDy suggested and it should work, but if not let me know.
@JonT thanks. I got a reply already. I haven't tried to order recently (none of the crap was interesting enough, I guess..), and I don't remember what the actual error said. I will wait until something strikes my fancy (unlikely), and try again.
Update here.. I had emailed with support last week when this was an issue, and they suggested using my Apartment number as a standalone number (no "apt" or # in front of it) and that didn't work either. I have no tried pretty much every conceivable combination of my address (Apt # first, then street address, using Apt, Apartment, #, etc) and this system will not take my card.
Super frustrating. I wanted those keyboards today as Christmas gifts and now they're sold out because I can't buy them...
@fury Have you tried doing an address lookup on yourself on the USPS site? I believe they have an address validator there. Apologies if you've tried this or a similar idea already.
@dashcloud I haven't tried that, but the issue is specifically with my billing address, not my shipping address. The support email team suggested using another card (unfortunately I only use one credit card online for security reasons) or a prepaid card (there are fees, so not really worth it; and prepaid cards don't have addresses associated with them, so I suspect there could be billing address issues there too...). Ultimately, I guess I'll just have to wait until whatever the issue is gets resolved with Stripe (the card processor). I've tried everything I can think of and will just have to settle for not getting any cool stuff with witty descriptions :(
For what it's worth, I just bought something from Cards Against Humanity for their new holiday deal, and they appear to use Stripe. I entered my address and it suggested my entire address on one line. I haven't tried that yet, but will next time I find something I want on Meh. Hopefully soon!
Not to be that guy (except yes) but this still is not working. I use my Capital One card for every purchase everywhere I go. The only thing I use my bank card for is to get money from the ATM like once a year. I wanted the free VMP offer a few days ago so I added my bank card in order to get it, and it worked.
I have since tried to purchase items with my Capital One card with no success. I understand you can't solve 100% of the issues, but I really don't get why this doesn't work. Also, why can't I change my card/address without buying something?
I have tried every single possible combination of my name with and without my middle initial (my middle initial is printed on my card, but most sites work without it), and my address. I live in an apartment and on my Capital One statement the address number is listed on "line one" as "APT XXX" while my street address is on "line two". I live in the city of Woodbury, MN, which is ZIP 55125. Some sites (including Meh) detect this as Saint Paul, MN, which is actually what my Capital One statement says. I always enter Woodbury and it works everywhere else. I've tried both on Meh, unsuccessfully.
I don't expect Meh or Mediocre to drop everything just for me, but what's being done about this? "Working on it" since launch with no success? I asked Stripe about it on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/robmonroe/statuses/531966791728500736 ) and they told me to contact Meh. I have contacted support and got replies, but they essentially said sorry, try another card.
@fury I hate to give you the same reply so I'm going to work with our CS team (they're the ones that primarily work with Stripe) and see if there's anything else we can do. Sorry for the frustration, if it was entirely under our control we could do a lot more but with Stripe being the gatekeepers the back and forth takes time. I'll get back to you tomorrow.
@JonT just wanted to let you know that someone from CS emailed me the other day and said they did something to my account that should fix it. I was able to successfully purchase the knife that was featured today with my Capital One card. Now that I used this new card, is that saved as my default card? Will that be used to renew my VMP when the free 2 months ends? I don't see any way to manage cards in my account...
@fury you might run into a hiccup with VMP renewal, as that is processed as a separate transaction, iirc. Your most recent card/address are the default when you order from now on, and if you want to delete the old one, you can select it from the drop down menu at checkout and remove it.
Shoot an email to HALP@meh.com
@Thumperchick Are you halping because you feel bad that it's your fault it doesn't work?
@Thumperchick Clearly, this is your fault
@lichme Yes. @capguncowboy of course it is!
@Thumperchick Meh-ssage sent. See what I did there?
It wouldn't accept my street name. only the '666' not the 'elm street'. And i only give occasion good grammer and punctuation.

@fury I'm surprised you didn't get a reply. maybe try their support form directly. https://meh.com/support
@fury , do what @Thumperchick says but also check your spam folder in case they did respond but you never saw it because of your filter settings.
@Thumperchick @cengland0 thanks for the replies. @fury Also, don't forget to blame @Thumperchick for this, it is not the fault of Meh
@TaRDy Would we blame meh if someone on staff was anointed goat?
@fury When did you send us an email? We're pretty good about getting back to people within 24 hours. You can try what @TaRDy suggested and it should work, but if not let me know.

@nadroj I heard that if a staff member is anointed goat, they are fired immediately. Meh wouldn't want the kind of liability you are describing.
@fury You should test it now, so when you do want to purchase, you are able to without issue.
@Thumperchick good point. I assume there is another step after you input your card info? Never got that far.. so I wasn't sure.
@fury You can put in your information and see if the autofill works properly, without hitting the button to complete the order.

@fury Have you considered today's deal? Reasonably cheap & useful if you have a smartphone
@dashcloud thanks. I tried just now, still doesn't work. Very, very, frustrating.
