Amazon shipping wonders
11Mostly, I wonder where it went.
I realized today at work that I didn’t have this stuff. Apparently it vanished into the ether a couple of weeks ago.
Amazon has made good on it, but I also wonder if an (ex?) Amazon employee is building a new computer?

@narfcake You found it!
@blaineg @narfcake
and with each revolution it registers the next step in the process as the automatic scanners hit the barcode!
@blaineg @chienfou @narfcake Years ago, I had a package get scanned over forty times in processing at two UPS locations in Arkansas and Texas, sometimes multiple times in the same facility on the same day. When it became six days late, I called to ask WTF? The UPS CS person actually called the depot where it had just been scanned in, and asked them to pull it out and look at it to see what was going on. The address label shipping it to me was on one side, and the label that had been used to ship it to the place I bought it from was on the other. It kept getting shifted from loading belt to loading belt as a mis-sort, sometimes making it onto a truck only to get turned around at the next stop.
@werehatrack
That’s an epic FAIL!
I need to screenshot a recent order of mine where it says they made a delivery attempt at 03:15.
@yakkoTDI The ones that used USPS for final delivery was bad for awhile. They would sometimes say delivered or handed to recipient when it hadn’t been delivered yet or just dropped at the doorstep. It got better once I started using Key garage delivery option, however now one of the drivers insists on placing the packages on the side of the garage that’s blocked by a car when the door is closed, yet I specifically indicated an easily accessible clear area in the app. It just comes down to whether someone gives a damn about doing their job right rather than focusing all their attention on Facetwitgrams.

@kuoh @yakkoTDI I ordered one of those metal canopys for my parents patio from a 3rd party seller on Amazon last year. Tracked it and showed delivered by USPS. Called mom and dad to make sure thry got it and nada.
Called the post office to see what happened. Said the tracking number went to a different address in the same zip code and said it was a v small box. Like jewlery box sized. Not sure what the seller was trying to pull, but luckily I was able to get a refund thru Amazon.
@kuoh @tinamarie1974 @yakkoTDI This scam has been getting more frequent. Is usually larger items and they send a sample toothbrush or something to your zip code. There must be people who just blame USPS and don’t file to get a refund. Maybe they money on the interest before refunding? It probably worked better before gps tracking was used on most deliveries.
@kuoh @speediedelivery @yakkoTDI well and had I not asked my parents about deluvery they could have gotten away with it.
Pitney Bowes lives!
This is pretty much what it’s like when I go into the kitchen for something.
@capnjb … unless the mice get it first
In my small town NJ we have Amazon delivery trucks (think blue UPS). The driver takes a picture of your delivery on the porch and it comes as an attachment in an email notifying you of arrival. This happens quickly as I’ve seen the driver drop the package, take the picture, and email received in less than a minute.
@detailer These are actual Amazon employees, and you can actually rate their delivery via the email that gets sent. They tend to be good, because there is some risk to their being bad.
@CBL_WV @detailer
That’s unlike the contractor ones we tend to get here, a leftover misfeature from Amazon’s initial decision to sub out that part of the operation. I think they intend to phase that out when the contract comes up for renewal, but it’s hard to tell what’s going on from the outside. The contractor deliveries never have the photo, but the email comes in just as quickly. And sometimes the contractor deliveries don’t show the truck’s location on a map during the last half-dozen stops before ours.
Looks like one of mine. Mailed at my same zip code on the 10th… Lost in space on the 16th… I guess when I get home Tuesday I will ask USPS what the heck happened to it.
At least they are honest about the delivery date
And here is it’s tracking history. Mailed from my post office based on zipcode, went to the local for the city central mail center, which then usually means delivery the next day… except we are now 11 days and counting…
@Kidsandliz I would ask the local post office to check or file the missing mail form on the website.
@speediedelivery yeah I was planning on doing that once I got back from out of town. Actually would just as soon have it not show up while I am gone. Then I am not responsible for whatever is in it. Getting return receipt mail is never good when it is out of the blue. Then at least I can claim ignorance.
