@Barney
Are you or anyone else still keeping a vocabulary count?
I think you are now proven substantially more literate than a eighteen-year-old.
I think I remember a few posts where people wondered no t only whether you were a bot, but, later, whether you had a cognitive disorder, or possibly were a child.
Loving purple is not a cognitive disorder. Not even under Trump.
@spitfire6006006 I think you’ll find that I announce my love of purple honestly… Feel free to look through my forum history. I LOVE purple.
If other purple lovers happen to chime in afterwards, I’m 100% cool with that, but that’s not the point.
BTW, if I want to summon Barney, I would type at her. Because I also love @barney!
@Nate311 What if the device isn’t offered in the colour assigned to someone? Also what did Offspring the First do to you that made you assign them yellow as their colour?
@Nate311 “Sorry Offspring 1, but the Nintendo Switch doesn’t come in yellow. Guess we’ll have to wait until more color options are out before you can get one.”
@hamjudo After having a couple of nice tool bags “walk away” and never return, I bought one that has stuck around. It’s also the roomiest, strongest, and most versatile one I’ve ever had. I’ve also banded the handles of some “popular” tools with hot pink or lavender paint to keep them home. It works!
@Kidsandliz We were shopping for ski helmet for my teenager. He sees a white one, looks at me, and says, “Really? What’s the point of this? In a snowstorm someone is more likely to crash into me!”
@mamawoot Just so. Purple car owner. Never see another purple car unless it is at a car show. I don’t understand why there are like 6 colors that people buy and make cars in. So weird.
Orange so hideous, no one would steal it. Not the hunting safety orange. Mine is darker. I get some weird looks in business settings, but no one says anything. After a while, you start to even like the orange. It is a weird realization about how much familiarity affects fondness.
@PocketBrain Some of that stupidity was likely done by people who do not wear glasses. Those of us who do and then are trying to see without their glasses on appreciate things that are more likely to accommodate that. The same idiot designers likely are related to the idiots who design some of the security questions like who was your third grade teacher or who did you have a crush on in sixth grade. Seriously? I remember I went to third grade… but do not remember the names of any of my grade school teachers, for that matter I don’t remember the names of most of my kid’s grade school teachers either and she is only 25.
@Kidsandliz At your prompt, I discovered that I remember almost all my teachers’ names K-8, and almost none in HS and college. I wonder if that means anything profound…
I looked at most of the electronic devices I own, and I automatically picked black… But that’s probably not my preference. My phone is silver, so when I buy replacement cables I’ve tended to go with silver braided cables. My phone case was clear with purple trim, but now my new one is clear with orange.
My favorite colors are a royal purple and neon orange, but most things don’t come in that color, so I’ll default to black.
My kitchen utensils are a mix of orange and purple. I picked orange instead of purple for my mixer.
@spcial_snwflake I’ve been looking at those. I love the ones you can customize every single key or change color randomly. I have a laptop though, so kinda pointless to buy a nice gaming keyboard.
Best computer color was Top Gun Blue on Digital (DEC) Alphaservers, late '90s/early 2000s until Compaq, who had bought them, went ‘carbon black’… meh.
A friend in college had a quality German portable radio (pre-boombox) that had its stamped metal case professionally polished, lightly engraved, and rust-blued (generally a finish on higher end firearms; someone in his family was a gunsmith and did the work for practice). It was beautiful; the finish had depth… like you were looking into translucent liquid metal. Most beautiful piece of electronics ever, even over Bang and Olufson’s artsy pieces.
The real answer is, it depends on what room it’s going to live in. For the living room, warm colors such as bronze and copper are best. For the bedroom, cool white or brushed nickel. Black for the rec room or screen room. For portables I prefer bright colors, neon orange, tree frog green, sapphire blue.
@f00l I love color. Part of it is spending a lot of time in art, part is living in the southwest influenced by the Mexican culture’s love of color. But all the rooms in my house have strong and contrasting color schemes selected largely based on using the natural light that the rooms get.
I like that vintage yellowed plastic color, like an old Apple II.
@awk a little rubbing alcohol will get those nicotine stains right off that top unit.
@thismyusername Vodka does nothing for my teeth, so I refuse to believe your shenanigans.
@awk I recognize that machine. my family’s first pc. it’s a macintosh lc475
Black. All the things, always, should be in black.
Either green or purple. D’uh. Orange can work in a pinch, but it’s a distant third
@kaighintze the star is for purple, green electronics… ARE YOU MAD?
@kaighintze I love purple.
@thismyusername Love my purple car.
I can’t believe you didn’t offer PURPLE as an option.
@curtise
Really
/image “purple universe”
@curtise
/image purple all the things
@narfcake
@curtise is this all a @barney summoning ritual?
@spitfire6006006 Barney and a few others who like purple. (I love purple.)

@f00l Well… I threw a temper tantrum at the nursing home today, so they may see me as acting like a five year old.
@curtise Aw, after the day I had today, I really needed to hear something nice. Thanks!
Not black. I keep losing my black stuff among all my other black stuff.
Black or purple. Not pastel purple though.
@Pantheist I love purple.
@Barney
/giphy purple present!
We color code electronic devices by owner.
I get white.
Spouse gets black.
Offspring one gets yellow.
Offspring two gets blue.
Many a saved argument.
@Nate311 What if the device isn’t offered in the colour assigned to someone? Also what did Offspring the First do to you that made you assign them yellow as their colour?
@Mehsturbator
@Nate311
They could go with
Offspring 1 warm colors
Offspring 2 cool colors.
Offspring 3 stuff that’s invisible
Offspring 4 only virtual stuff
And so forth.
Can o’ spray paint will work.
@Nate311 Smart move. Bet it is harder to find yellow though…
@Nate311 “Sorry Offspring 1, but the Nintendo Switch doesn’t come in yellow. Guess we’ll have to wait until more color options are out before you can get one.”
@Mehsturbator A SpongeBob boom box was a baby shower gift.
@mamawoot @Kidsandliz fimo or sugru or decals.
@Nuurgle They’ve got their 2Ds, and we Xbox. One white controller, one black, one black with Pikachu decals, one white with Squirtle.
Borrow-proof, theft-proof pink. It doesn’t work if the pink is subtle, it really helps if it is some fluorescent shade that does not appear in nature.
@hamjudo

@rockblossom I often buy my niece Pink Box tools; she says she loves them
@compunaut They are actually made by Viper Tool Storage. They make garage sets in green, blue and purple, as well as their more usual black and steel.
Purple, lime green, tangerine, hot pink, Ikea-bag blue, blood red, anything but black, white, or silver.
That goes for vehicles, too!
I’m so sick of monochromatic cars.
@mamawoot the star is for the purple… the other colors have me smh.
@mamawoot Not to mention in a white out or fog really bright colors are easier to see.
@mamawoot I love purple.
@Kidsandliz We were shopping for ski helmet for my teenager. He sees a white one, looks at me, and says, “Really? What’s the point of this? In a snowstorm someone is more likely to crash into me!”

@RegalMonkey I once read an article that said that purple cars have a lower trade in/resale value. That really upset me.

"That’s a nice black square you have there. Does it play music, too?"
Orange so hideous, no one would steal it. Not the hunting safety orange. Mine is darker. I get some weird looks in business settings, but no one says anything. After a while, you start to even like the orange. It is a weird realization about how much familiarity affects fondness.
@simplersimon Stockholm Orange?
Clementine orange, please.
There is special place in hell for those that decided that black lettering on a black casing on the back of electronics was the way to go. shakes fist
@Nitewatch I am always railing against poor design/engineering choices.

@Nitewatch
but black on black on black is so awesome.
Obviously you and I just don’t get design.
@Kidsandliz At your prompt, I discovered that I remember almost all my teachers’ names K-8, and almost none in HS and college. I wonder if that means anything profound…
@compunaut You don’t want to grow up and be a grownup? I can’t remember ANY of them K-12 nor college. Or many of them in grad school for that matter.
@Kidsandliz I thought perhaps the earlier educators were simply more influential in molding the learner I became
Clear.
@PocketBrain Totally

@RiotDemon I love purple.
Walnut with brass trim
@cranky1950
Old skool.
It’s like… how much more black could my electronics be? And the answer is none. None… more black.
rgb
@spcial_snwflake Why settle for one color when you can have all of the colors!
@spcial_snwflake
You remember that device that turns any screen into a touch screen? Have you ever seen that for sale in any size other than 15"?
@f00l See AirBar. 13.3" & 14" supposedly ‘will arrive soon’
@spcial_snwflake I’ve been looking at those. I love the ones you can customize every single key or change color randomly. I have a laptop though, so kinda pointless to buy a nice gaming keyboard.
@RiotDemon I don’t actually own the keyboard, though I own the mouse. It’s a bad mouse btw.
@spcial_snwflake that’s too bad.

@moondrake
Don’t you love the way they design bridges now in NM?
@f00l Yes, all in all I wish I could drag us the 3’ across the border into NM.
