I agree, they are gross! Unless of course you do the pre-shower and the post-shower to get all that grossness off! That’s what I used to do, a nice soak can be very therapeutic!
I Love a Nice Bath. I just Hate My Tub! So, Not likely. I think I have been in this house going on 16 years, I could count on 1 hand the baths I have enjoyed… Boohoo!
@catthegreat
A garden tub is an oversized, often freestanding, deep-soaking bathtub designed for relaxation, typically measuring 60–70 inches long and 42 inches wide. They offer a spa-like experience with more water capacity than standard tubs and often feature jets or contoured designs, with prices ranging from $500 to over $3,900.
@catthegreat@kittykat9180 Oh, okay. My house has an actual Jacuzzi™ in the master bathroom but we never once used it. Talk about dirty water, yuck. All the chemicals you’re supposed to put in to keep germs from growing in that standing water. I would MUCH prefer to have what you’ve got, but tearing out the Jacuzzi is probably a super expensive process. I think they put it in and built the addition around it because there’s no way it came in through a door.
@Kyeh
Don’t they use the same chemicals in hot tubs as in swimming pools?
I wouldn’t want a hot tub inside my house, regardless of the brand.
It probably wouldn’t be all that expensive to remove it yourself. Of course, then you have to do something with the empty space.
@kittykat9180 Oh, I’d be thrilled if I could remove it myself. I’d actually like to bring my washer & dryer up from the basement & put them there. But it’s a huge built-in thing, 5.5’ x 5.5’ x 19" and solidly encased in a tiled 19" wall. It must have cost a lot.
Never as an adult. I’ve never had a house with a big enough tub. My current house only has a tub in the guest bathroom and it’s normal sized. I’m not normal sized.
Taking a bath is just gross, it’s like stewing in your own filth. I mean, who wants to sit in a hot soup of exfoliated skin, and grime? I recommend that you try the Showerbath Shower.
The Process: Shower: Initial rinse to remove surface dirt and grime. This usually takes about 4 minutes. Can be done while drawing the bath. Bath: A soak in the tub, used for relaxing, shaving, or exfoliating. Maybe you drop a Bathbomb in and have glass of wine with some candles while you soak. Shower: A final rinse to remove any remaining soap or residue from the bath. Usually, less than 4 minutes, unless you are washing your hair.
@kittykat9180@TheDagda
If you showered before you took a bath and just used the bath to soak, what do you need to shower again for afterward? All the dirt already came off you when you showered right? And how dirty are that you have all this dead skin coming off in a bath, if you shower and clean yourself everyday?
I think the idea of a bath creeps you out more than it actually cleans you.
To those of you lamenting the bath as being gross, you DO realize that all the s*** in that water was already on you, correct? You can’t convince me that there’s more left on you when you’re done than when you started.
But, that being said, baths are just not my thing. Other than occasionally joining SWMBO in the bath for some “recreation” it’s been probably 40 years since I took a bath to clean myself… and that was a trip out of the country where the only option was a bathtub.
Our home doesn’t have a working faucet for either of its bathtubs, so aside from finding some creative means of filling them, it’s not really an option.
I usually only take baths in the winter bc it’s cold outside and the warm water is very relaxing. Or if my muscles hurt very bad, I’ll soak in it with a bunch of epson salts and a cbd bath bomb.
I’m in the tub right now.
Never. Not almost never, but never.
To where should I take them?
@phendrick Egg-zactly. It would be rude to take a bath.

Who has the time for a good soaking bubble bath? Oh, my wife does.
Baths are gross. All the slime from your body comes off and floats on the surface of the water. When you get out it redeposits on your skin.
Besides, you can’t pee like you can in a shower. Well, I guess you could. Your call.

@Lynnerizer @tweezak this is my almost daily routine. Quick shower, hot soak, try to turn the brain off to sleep. Rinse, repeat.

I have a garden tub. I use it in the winter mostly. On days I’m feeling cold I’ll hop in the tub or on the weekend after a long run.
@kittykat9180 like a hot tub?

@catthegreat @kittykat9180 Is it outdoors?
@catthegreat @Kyeh
No, it’s a bathtub in the bathroom of my master bedroom.

Ah, that’s not what I was picturing in my head.
Yeah that sounds like a lot of work.

@chienfou’s lucky kitties have an outdoor koi pond to gaze at (and fall into - once, at least):

Only walk in showers in my house no tubs.

I always shower after a soak in the tub.

@chienfou
Excellent point.
But I shower after my bath anyway. I don’t bathe to get clean, I bathe to relax or warm up.
I leave them exactly as I find them, unmolested and undisturbed.
Our home doesn’t have a working faucet for either of its bathtubs, so aside from finding some creative means of filling them, it’s not really an option.

That’s how SWMBO does it. After a few hours in the garden she will relax in a tub with lavender epsom salts…
This is the ‘soaking tub’ my wife uses. It’s a bit larger than a standard tub in all dimensions. No jets.
