“Not as good as my $800.00 pro earphones (the ones pro’s use) but for the Money, they sound great. Bass is strong so if you are able to turn off all sound enhancements they sound GREAT just on there on.” - Smug Amazon Customer
★★★ "These earphones seem to be flimsy, particularly where the wire connects to the controls. Plus, the volume control does not work, though I have a fairly up-to-date phone, Galaxy S5. On the other hand, the box in which the earphones came must have cost the company a small fortune since it appears to be everything that the headphones are not: well thought out and sturdy.
It does come with a 2 year warranty and the sound is very good, so hopefully if the earphones do break there will be coverage." - Amazon Customer

Podcasts! Want some good ones? Lore, limetown, myths and legends. Judge John hodgeman. If you like community, try harmontown, it's full of wacky drunk people and the creator of community, Dan harmon! Also the thinking atheist. Better give a shout out to my friends podcast, the department of offense, just some Wisconsin guys shooting the bull for am hour.
@llamaguy89 So where do I find the time to listen to hour long podcasts? I WANT to listen to Judge John, but when do other people remain doing one activity for that long? I can't listen while at work, am I supposed to do this in 15 min chunks? Help me be more podcast savvy.
Download Overcast. Has awesome audio filters. Scrubs dead air and equalizes spoken word so it's understandable at 2x. I think it actually goes up to 2.5x. Try it out. Free, no ads, has some special settings for guys who pay $1/month
Very meh. Amazon's premium earbuds (http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-KA416Y-Premium-Headphones/dp/B00HX0SRXW) occasionally drop to $10 and they blow these out of the water. The sound quality is probably comparable, but the flat wire and magnetic buds are life-changing features. Now if only the inline volume buttons worked with my iPhone they'd be the perfect cheap earbuds.
@tristin Wow those look like strange Amazon torture devices... I don't understand how people jam hard plastic in their ears. After wearing down a pair of earbuds every 3-6 months, I went and bought some nice Klipsch earbuds. They lasted a long time, but I'm not sure they were worth the price. Honestly, I feel like after you go over $30 for wired earplugs, you are mostly just watching your wallet get lighter. While I've heard some quality cans, I'm not sure earbuds really lend themselves to getting over a certain point in quality sound. After doing a bunch of digging, I ended up buying two Symphonized NRG 2.0 earplugs (one for me, one for my wife). Compared to the A-Audio, the wire, clip, and aesthetic are just nicer on the Symphonized plugs. The Klipsch ones were more comfortable with better silicon attachments and an angled earpiece. That being said, I suspect the sound quality is roughly similar for all the different ear plugs. The A-Audio sound control and storage box is a nice touch, and even if I break the crappy cord in 3 months - $10 is a very satisfying low price that got me to buy one for redundancy.
A suggestions to the bag of wombats running this site (I'm a Mensa level genius with an IQ of a quillion) therefore I'm right.)
Create as sub-domain from this one. Let's call it headphones.meh.com and there you can just sell headphones.
It's a win win win situation.
It's a win for you, because you'd be diluting your brand and eventually a billionaire will give you a slice of his money to buy it from you in order to run it into the ground and turn it into a site that is no longer unique. Your friends will be torn between choosing a stable job while their souls deteriorate or their creative vision coupled to the certainty of a second, unslaughtered unicorn.
It's a second win because now you don't have to sell headphones of some variety every other day with a somehow unique narrative. (Potential downside: who in the world wants to write yet more headphone prose. Probably not a big deal as most universities and lobster husbandry academies now specialize in headphones narrative snark.)
Finally, it's a win for me because now I don't have to wait until tomorrow to buy yet another set of headphones. I love headphones so much that I buy them every time. I also own two metric units of yetis.
Finally a word of advice: you check your blood sugar and you check it often. There's no reason not to.
Bought these on morningsave awhile ago, they're actually decent, surprisingly enough. The packaging is amazing, which to me is a weird thing to say about packaging but it is. The little travel case for them is neat too.
Word of warning, the bass in these things is REALLY overbearing, but some quick equalizer work had them sounding pretty good so the only thing I can complain about is not getting them for $7 cheaper now.
I got these off Morningsave, and both my kids despise them. As in, get off the school bus whining "mom these ear buds are terrible" level of hatred. One set did not make it through one day of high school before becoming a singular ear bud. If only we could figure out the brand of the previous cheap ones I bought, as those were beloved above all others. Passing on these.
Try any monoprice earbud. I have the ones linked below, at the time they cost $5 and they are quite good, now they are $7.99 which is still a steal. The shape is a little strange, but the sound is great. They have other more traditional shaped ones as well.
@mehdaf Seconding this. I've had those monoprice earbuds for years. The sound is nothing amazing, but much better than anything else I've found for under $50.
A deal meant for me. I went to mow the lawn the other day and spent some time wandering the house looking for earbuds. I realized I should probably buy some more.
I've probably bought dozens of these, keeping my kids supplied. Bonus is the flat design allows you to lie flat with them on (like when you're sleeping and stuff).
@brhfl i currently use some PX 95 seinnhesier on ear headphones I bought from woot that i love and wouldn't replace with any earbuds or overear headset priced under 100s so I now have something to strive for for earbuds, I just thought the model number was something to chuckle about
Probably not any better than what comes free with a Galaxy phone. Meh.
Besides, I have the based Marley Liberate phones that made me buy in for VMP in the first place, and I use those far more than any other listening apparatus.
Mine just arrived. The quality of the packaging and the build quality of the earbuds themselves were surprisingly good for the $10 I paid.
The sound quality brought me back down to reality. The bass is so overpowering that everything sounds like mud and I can barely even hear the melody at all. I definitely won't be listening to music on these. I might be able to tolerate podcasts, with some EQ tweaking.
Update: Earlier I was using these at my desk, with the desktop amp I use with my big studio-style headphones.
Apparently it was the amp that was too much for these earbuds, because when I later used them on my phone (Galaxy S6) they sounded fine. Music, podcasts, whatever, it's all good. It's a little bass-heavy, but not too bad, and the muddiness I noticed earlier is gone.
Also, the up/down buttons on the cord don't do anything, but pause/play works fine on my Android phone.
I only used with my phone and everything sound great. I was just browsing my old purchases and realized I’ve kept these for over 2 years and BOTH buds still sound great with daily use. The carrying case may have helped. This was a solid purchase.

High definition .... A dictionary on the top shelf?
@MehnofLaMehncha nope. This is "elite high definition":
What does that core have to do with it's Bluetooth?
They're running $30 at amazonnn. I like a wire that goes around the ear, but 20 bucks off is pretty sweet.
i am still trying to find a good set of mid-priced earbuds. all the ones i've bought from meh and woot have been horrible.
are these any good?
@elpepe
Guaranteed to be the best $10 earphones you buy today.
@elpepe These aren't mid priced ear buds, even at $30. Most $10-$30 ear buds are junk.
@elpepe I would recommend the Klipsch S4 earbuds. Got mine some years ago for $60 on Amazon and they're amazing. And I'm a musician.
@elpepe I'm not willing to risk it... again.
Shouldn't it be An-Audio?
@jmoor783 An Elite High Definition?
My bad. I thought you said something very different. Now I can't unsee that.
Hear here with tonight's deal
@AttyVette This bud's for you.
Eh, why not? Bought one... :D
How did we get stuck with "ear buds"?
Is there some other kind of bud that you stick in another body part?
@MehnofLaMehncha clearly your Q-tip game is stale and could benefit from some experimentation.
@MehnofLaMehncha I expect that Meh will soon offer a sweet deal on nose buds, designed for sanitation workers and parents of children in diapers
@xerdkwa as an actual sanitation worker, this isn't a bad idea.
Dang it. I knew there was something wrong with the $800 pro earphones I bought.
High on the Meh scale.
A-Audio: Last in Quality, First in the phonebook
@CraigDanger Well, right after Aardvark Audio

@Pamtha ive obly been listening for a year, maybe on your commute? Or try going for a walk for an hour? Or surf reddit and listen?
@Pamtha I use my commute to listen to podcasts. Stops when I get to work and pick up where I left off on the drive home.

No purple? This is what it sounds like when buds cry
@xerdkwa When buds cry in purple:
@xerdkwa. These were the official phones of The Artist Formerly Known As Bud.
Hot stove is hot. See I learn my lessons.
Eh. How many pairs of cheap headphones should I own?
Why not?
@digibear Exactly.
@digibear
because jlab "premium" is why not...

@twinesurge perhaps you should check out https://morningsave.com I "hear" they sell headphone there from time to time...

@thismyusername Morning Save is owned and operated by Mediocre Labs.
@debkellogg yes, and...?

Is this why these are sold out on morningsave now?

@seraphimcaduto Because of the LAW of supply and demand. A lower supply there creates a higher demand here!
Upon completing the poll, I was asked to wave my team's banner and am dutifully fulfilling my obligation, lest I lose my voting privileges.
As a sweet clean P1 (as I hypothesize @snapster Meht R might be), I am vigorously waving my Stars flag this week. Oh, and: I. Love. The Rangers!

Not that it really matters in the grand scheme, but for inexpensive but good-sounding ear buds, I have found no better value than these:

I've probably bought dozens of these, keeping my kids supplied. Bonus is the flat design allows you to lie flat with them on (like when you're sleeping and stuff).
These are absolute dog shit.
After reading that highlarious review about the "800 dollars earphones" i searched and found these which now I am drooling over http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/994407-REG/sennheiser_505484_ie_800_in_ear_headphones.html maybe they named them the ie 800 because they told their dealers to MSRP at 800....
@sp3ar Don't knock 'em till you've heard 'em.
