@StevenS757 I got that they were carbon-zinc by looking at the pictures. Use your best judgement in deciding if these are an awesome deal on alkaline batteries, or maybe just a meh deal on AA-sized rocks.
Thank you for the guide. Want to check out the other batteries but here’s what it says about these:
THE GOOD
• Carbon Zinc & Zinc Chloride batteries are very inexpensive.
THE BAD:
• Both chemistries deliver less energy than alkalines.
THE UGLY:
• Often supply only enough power to Power On your device.
• Zbattery’s Opinion: Don’t let the name fool you. “Heavy Duty” batteries are actually “Light Duty” batteries that qualify as little more than junk. Avoid these batteries whenever possible.
@narfcake There’s that back corner at the bottom with the leftover takeout boxes from the Reagan era… There’s always room for batteries. Even crappy ones…
Didn’t even realize they still made and sold super heavy duty batteries. Takes me back to the late 70s as a kid and opening up a toy to see the battery leaked over everything
I own and operate a tropical and otherwise exotic fish emporium. Some of the fish don’t exhibit the lively frolicing behaviors that some potential customers expect to see when they come to shop for amphibious accutroments. To help stimulate the display model fish, I have found that if you drop in a couple AA batteries to the tank, the fish really step up their game (temporarily). The customers like what they see and they buy! Of course the display fish eventually simmer down and are then offered up at a discount, usually for “feeders.” That’s a crowd pleaser too!
@bleedmichigan THAT, is sage advice. Of course, I must add, my story of using batteries to sell fish is completely fictionalized. I don’t own or operate a fish emporium. And, I don’t condone using batteries or any other harmful means to interact with animals. SPCA approved message.
It looks like Meh fooled the fly-over/disaster prepping states with this one. They are gonna be pissed and crying in the dark when they burn through these wimpy batteries…
@CMH or they fooled Meh into buying the huge excess they still had after realizing how crappy they actually are just like how 7Eleven got them to buy their leftover stock of Caffinated Gum
The reporter, restrained in a barred room, faced her captor, who was just then working on improvements to the laser-guided suction device that had been key to his five joule heists. “You won’t win this time, Ray O’Vac!” she spat. “You may have your Energizer, and you can even make me enDuracell, but—“
“And who, my sensuous scribbler, can possibly stop me?” he sneered, cutting her off mid-sentence.
Suddenly the wall behind him exploded. Coughing, as the dust cleared he shouted “You! How did you find me?!”
“It was easy, you kidnapping cretin. I just followed the breeze, and sure enough, I found someone who sucks.”
Leaping into action, the rescuer pulled the cell door off its hinges, smashed the machine with it, and wrapped it around the villain in a steel embrace. “There, that should hold you till the Power City Police arrive. You won’t escape charges this time,” he said to the furious felon.
“I knew you’d find me!” the liberated literateuse cried. “And I’m going to thank you over and over… if you’re up for it, that is.”
“Miss Watt, let’s just say there’s a reason I currently go by the name… ‘Eveready’.”
3… They don’t do their research so they don’t know there are differences when it comes to batteries and assume they’re all made from the same cloth so they think they’re getting a great deal
Sounds fun. I’ll be over here using the same eneloops in my remotes, video game controllers, flashlights, and camera flashes as I have for the last decade.
Can we get clarification on whether these are Carbon-Zinc or Alkaline? The product specs say Zinc-Manganese Dioxide, which implies alkaline but the boxes in the screenshots say Carbon-Zinc. Which is it, so I can cancel my order if it’s C-Zn??
@narfcake I was thinking like you’re taking that questionable path through the haunted cemetery, you know the one with all the fog? And you’re half way through when your flashlight starts to die as it does it situations like this. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that you got a pair of batteries from that house down the street? I mean, it doesn’t help you with the guy in the hockey mask behind you with the knife but one problem at a time.
How energizing to have these again.
EDIT: Sorry Abyssrea but I’m hijacking your comment because Mediocrebot lost track of time and the specs post is down below.

@duodec
@duodec bestbuy https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-aaa-batteries-48-pack/4971903.p?skuId=4971903
@duodec You are right. You haven’t been listening to us MEH!
A-A-A
@duodec seriously! Almost everything that uses batteries that I own uses AAA’s now
@PlacidPenguin @lichme
@duodec Came here to say the same thing.
Why you want to charge me with battery?!
Great paper weight
y no AAA?
expiration dAte?
@RedOx probably already expired
Not alkaline?
@dadzilla Not alkaline, therefore not good. Not buy.
@dadzilla nope. so no sale here…
@dwasifar meh!
Clever meh, now everyone who bought the flashlight will have plenty of batteries… and you can get rid of a lot more of them.
These are carbon-zinc batteries.
Here’s a handy guide that helps you understand what that entails:
http://www.zbattery.com/Household-Battery-Guide
@cl4rk3 The description above says they are Zinc-Manganese Dioxide, which is the normal chemical system for alkaline batteries.
@StevenS757 I got that they were carbon-zinc by looking at the pictures. Use your best judgement in deciding if these are an awesome deal on alkaline batteries, or maybe just a meh deal on AA-sized rocks.

@sudynim these are zinc-manganese dioxide, not carbon zinc.
@StevenS757 @sudynim Yep, these are alkaline.
“Alkaline batteries (IEC code: L) are a type of primary battery dependent upon the reaction between zinc metal and manganese dioxide.”
Carbon-zinc is the poop emoji of batteries. To put it in a meh perspective.
Oh please great last Fuko God’s please send me a fridge for my batteries. I like my batteries like I like my women, a tit bit nipply.
@bleedmichigan I like my batteries like I like my men… electrifying!
@bleedmichigan I prefer my women like my coffee.
@bleedmichigan I like my women like I like my coffee… Coarse ground and stored in a cool dark space???
@OnionSoup don’t drink coffee so I have no clue what your talking about. Why a dark space?
@bleedmichigan I like my women like the weather here: moist and unstable.
@bleedmichigan @mike808 Black and bitter?
@bleedmichigan light degrades coffee grounds over time.
@bleedmichigan @OnionSoup well light does damage skin over time, so keeping your women out of the sun could technically be a good thing right?

Hey, a couple handfulls in a sock is a lethal weapon!
Heavy Duty are Meh in the battery world. Anything better wouldn’t be Meh.
/giphy EVEREADY
We’re gonna need a bigger fridge…
These are FANTASTIC unless you’re planning on using them in anything that is electronic.
Zinc batteries DO NOT BUY wait for the energizer alkalines to go on sale instead
These are GARBAGE! They won’t last very long or will leak and corrode in your device if you forget about them.
Now if they were alkaline, that would be a different story…
I feel compelled to make a comment…
/image refrigerator
@shahnm There’s zero reason to waste precious refrigerated space on these batteries.
@shahnm
My God, It’s full of …
… not batteries.
@narfcake There’s that back corner at the bottom with the leftover takeout boxes from the Reagan era… There’s always room for batteries. Even crappy ones…
@shahnm So now the question is why are there takeout boxes wasting precious refrigerated battery space?
@narfcake They contain more batteries.
… duty
@nolrak …dooty
Heh, heh.
@2many2no
Buy 1,152 neodymium magnets and a shitload of copper wire and build your own mass transportation (of batteries) system!
/youtube battery train
oh my god this is amazing. aaaand now i have weekend plans.
But… this is the normal price at the dollar store.
The quality of these batteries are SHD-y
No alkaline, no care.
I’m ordering 576 so I always have a freakin awesome raft!
This brand leaks. Both zinc and alkaline. Wasting money
Didn’t even realize they still made and sold super heavy duty batteries. Takes me back to the late 70s as a kid and opening up a toy to see the battery leaked over everything
A lot of batteries
A lot of batteries
I would like to repeat that 3 times next time.
I own and operate a tropical and otherwise exotic fish emporium. @accelerator don’t ever jump in a pool someone might throw in some car batteries to make you more lively.
@bleedmichigan THAT, is sage advice. Of course, I must add, my story of using batteries to sell fish is completely fictionalized. I don’t own or operate a fish emporium. And, I don’t condone using batteries or any other harmful means to interact with animals. SPCA approved message.
How many of these packages would I have to buy to make a decent bed of nails?
It’s for a friend.
@Kenbo less than 1 more than 0. Instead go to a hardware store and just buy nails.
@bleedmichigan @Kenbo Or alternatively, don’t make a bed of nails…
It looks like Meh fooled the fly-over/disaster prepping states with this one. They are gonna be pissed and crying in the dark when they burn through these wimpy batteries…
@CMH Whereas the city folk will be too busy using bricks and rebar to fight back and won’t have time for batteries.
@CMH or they fooled Meh into buying the huge excess they still had after realizing how crappy they actually are just like how 7Eleven got them to buy their leftover stock of Caffinated Gum

Why buy cheap batteries. Local Harbor Freight always has a coupon deal to get free AA + AAA http://www.hfqpdb.com/best_coupon/24+pack+heavy+duty+batteries
@sthiede1 because
People are lazy
They think it’s a helluva deal
3… They don’t do their research so they don’t know there are differences when it comes to batteries and assume they’re all made from the same cloth so they think they’re getting a great deal
These batteries always leak when they’re put in vibrators… that’s what my friend said.
Cheap crap or cheap mislabeled alkalines? Here some data sheets if anyone cares:
The sale item: http://data.energizer.com/pdfs/1215.pdf
Labeled super heavy duty, but chemistry is Zinc-Manganese Dioxide.
Three models of alkalines:
http://data.energizer.com/pdfs/a91.pdf
http://data.energizer.com/pdfs/e91.pdf
http://data.energizer.com/pdfs/en91.pdf
Naturally, the formats of the data sheets are all different.
@blaineg
/8ball cheap crap?
You may rely on it
/8ball mislabled?
Outlook not so good
Relevant?

Yes
For the love of God, people…
If you need this many batteries, buy RECHARGABLES!
The GP Recyko NiMH rechargables have tested better than the standby Eneloops in some tests. I’ve been happy with both.

Buy them and give out pairs of them at Halloween?
@Targaryen Nope. Boxes of raisins are less likely to break through your windows.
