@Euniceandrich@mcanavino I’d still like to see that suggestion. Many food items on the daily deal have been near or even past the BBD. (That hasn’t kept me from buying most of them, though.)
@Euniceandrich@mcanavino My experience with the stuff from Kind leads me to the conclusion that “Best before” really does mean “Best have finished this box off before”. They get noticeably stale pretty soon after. The ones with certain kinds of nuts, even more so.
@jannyblue
Thank you for posting! You inspired me to post the nutrition info:
140 calories, 4.5g fat (0 sat), 24g carbs (2g fiber, 6g added sugar (7g total sugar)), 3g protein.
@jannyblue CANOLA DAMMIT. Crap. I probably would have ordered them if that hadn’t been in there. Well, now I have to move Kind out of the “trustworthy” list and into the “must recheck every time” group.
@jannyblue@Telanis If you have a genuine intestinal intolerance for the stuff, which I emphatically do, there’s no effing conspiracy involved. Eating food with more than a trace of it gives me up to six hours of nearly uninterrupted cramps and diarrhea. If I’m lucky, the purge only takes three. LEAR may be low in erucic acid, but it’s not zero, and I am not convinced that affirmative monitoring of the level is going on. Allegedly, the producers have been required to keep the level under 2% since 2019, but my more recent experience demonstrates that this cannot be relied upon, or my intolerance is really just that severe.

I’m pretty sure that the solution here is to just buy a new bottle of canola oil every month, try it, and see if you get six hours of cramps and diarrhea. That way you’ll know for sure and won’t have to wonder.
@werehatrack I didn’t think you were joking about the severity, and honestly it didn’t occur to me that you would joke about it. Maybe I shouldn’t have joked after someone else above accused you of being a conspiracy theorist.
My intent in my previous post was to offer some deliberately and obviously terrible advice. Clearly this is more personal than I realized, and I apologize.
These are actually pretty good. But with 80 of them, I would be a little concerned about the expiration date. Which is noticeably not mentioned(at least that I can find). Can someone at meh make it more obvious? TYIA
@bfg9000 They did, 8/5/22. Any buyer will have about a month of “probably reliably fresh enough” before hitting the point where Kind says “nope, your fault.” Much depends upon the conditions in which they’ve been stored up to this point, and how they get stored once they arrive.
A “Best if Used By/Before” date indicates when a product will be of best flavor or quality how far out the manufacturer thinks they can get away with saying “It’s fine, everything’s fine, go ahead and buy it”.
Would someone please check my math here. So that’s 16 (SIXTEEN!) boxes of 5, which comes to $1.71x a box, yes? no? That is a deal, even though there’s only 5 in a box. So I’ll probably buy. There’s always a need for “healthy” or semi-healthy food for pantries for the disadvantaged when I (and my friends and family) can’t look at them anymore. (I’m still giving away corn nuts…)
That being said – MORE FROOKITS, PLEASE! (I’m almost out.)
No way could I eat 80 of these in less than 30 days! While I am sure they are still good for some period after the fast-approaching expiration date I think I’ll spend my $$ on something that will not expire so soon.

Just what we need, blubbery bars.
Best before date?
@Euniceandrich …is more of a suggestion than a rule.
@Euniceandrich @mcanavino I’d still like to see that suggestion. Many food items on the daily deal have been near or even past the BBD. (That hasn’t kept me from buying most of them, though.)
@Euniceandrich Yes, also good after date. Maybe not during date.
@Euniceandrich @mcanavino My experience with the stuff from Kind leads me to the conclusion that “Best before” really does mean “Best have finished this box off before”. They get noticeably stale pretty soon after. The ones with certain kinds of nuts, even more so.
@Euniceandrich 8/5/22.
@awk @Euniceandrich During the date, you should focus on your date, not on a granola bar. I’ve been married for 21 years. Take my word for it.
@Euniceandrich @mcanavino @werehatrack what kind of nuts? Deez nuts?
@Euniceandrich @mcanavino @werehatrack
He’s not wrong. I don’t eat these because of the sugar but my children do. When the date comes and goes… they get hard as a rock pretty quickly.

@jannyblue @werehatrack the amount of traction canola conspiracists are getting is disturbing

@Limewater
GFY, daily, mmkay? I am not joking about the severity of this, nor am I the only one with the issue, and IT’S NOT FUCKING AMUSING!

@Limewater Accepted.
Is there a “best by” date?
@jmrobinett 8/5/22
Halloween just got healthier!!
@somf69
You about to give out some expired snacks for halloween?
Be KIND, don’t whine.
@hchavers Wasn’t the usual message to re-whine?
Yeah the mouth on the old macbooks were for blueberry snack bars, AND NOTHING ELSE

I should hope so, I don’t want a used or even ‘refurbished’ granola bar. Shudder
@Knightp How about recycled?
@blaineg @Knightp How do you know that these aren’t?
I’ve actually almost finished the last order, so why not.

no best by date… but there IS a 90 day warranty!
@chienfou
They added the date, 8/5/22.
Not buying till I see a best buy date…
@somf69 8/5/22

Why does it have a 90 day warranty? It’s not supposed to last that long
@Anyer It covers diarrhea but not til after the best but date
Well, since I’m down to my last three bags of Frookits and a partial box of mango bars I’m in.

I know from past experience I have trouble finishing a box of five, so pass.
Half that amount I’d buy, but 80 is too many with the short expiration date.
@steelersluver I froze the last ones I bought in smaller bags, then bring them out as needed. Haven’t noticed an issue doing it that way.
@steelersluver @vandemusser I do the same with macadamias.
What do you mean I’m not KIND?
Just not your KIND…

Too much added sugar. And canola oil.
And, if I had them around, and I liked them, my carb-addict mind would start signaling “sweets sweets sweets, there are sweet things calling out”
And then I’d want to binge on them.
So, no.
Yum! Ingredients include: cane sugar (SUGAR), tapioca syrup (SUGAR), honey (SUGAR), and brown rice syrup (SUGAR)…
My kids consume these at warp speed. In for 1.

GREAT DEAL!!! Made the entire team KINDER!!!
I think FedEx lost mine. Last scan was it leaving kansas a week ago. Wonder if they have someone pulling a few packages cross country on a bike…
