Seriously who goes through that many mask? Unless you work in a hospital (where they supply them) what are you doing with them? They’ve been for sale every week.
@Star2236 I could see someone having or wanting to wear at a mask at work every day, and either having to supply one themselves, or wanting something better than the crappy mask provided. But for someone like me that wears a mask to go to the grocery store once a week, a box of 60 is lasting like a year.
@Star2236 work in hospital. They supply crappy stinky Chinese knock off “surgical” style. I could care less about the efficacy but the stink and my stubble rubs all day and I end up with a lung full of plastic. Of course it’s for my protection. Lolyaok here’s a bridge. Anyways this is better than that.
@clarinetbob@qazxto it might be surprising for you to hear; my niece is a Pharmacologist, and we have to buy her quality masks to wear at work, in a well-known hospital, because they do not provide quality masks there for their employees. The KN-95 masks for sale on meh are much better than the ones made available to employees at her place of work. Also, my wife is an X-Ray technician and Mammographer; the same situation exists for her at work. They put a pile of unwrapped, cheap, non-surgical and totally uncertified masks at the front door for employees and patients. Any other PPE, she has to get it for herself because the company and the state do not require it for their employees.
And, another thing, I think your condescending words to qazxto are reprehensible. Signed: a former janitor and warfighter.
@accelerator You are correct, and I fully apologize. Did not mean to demean janitors, which I’m sure I did. Thank you for your service. My point was, someone who says they work in a hospital should not “lol” at the benefits of mask use. While not perfect, masks like these do have a positive effect. Again, I’m sorry for any offense; it was not intended. Stay safe and healthy, everyone.
@accelerator@clarinetbob@qazxto
I have a question since you all work in some kind of medical. My father had an appointment at a ent (not in the hospital or hospital complex) and they called and said we needed to get a pcr CoVid test before we come into the office. We’ve been to the office a million times, even during the height of the pandemic and this was never required and now when it’s at the end (supposedly) they start asking for a pcr test? Have any of you herd anything like this to go to the drs?
@Star2236
Given that the Feds have shifted the resposibility for Covid care to the insurance companies, and they don’t have those costs built into their current budgets, they suddenly have become more insistent that facilities under contract must help reduce their liability.
@accelerator@clarinetbob wow. Not a janitor at all but I am extremely nice to those folks because of the hard work they do for us, often hidden, and for much less than we make. With no rudeness intended, you must be extremely ignorant to just say “masks work.” Certain masks work for certain things. May I suggest you buy your janitor a coffee or something and work a bit on humility. -signed nobody cares about your credentials here.
@Star2236@werehatrack this and also it’s like a beast with 8 heads. Every head is saying something different often at the same time. Believe you me this, those of us at the actual front lines are doing our best to calmly keep you well and cared for but often we are informed late that XYZ policy which was just changed last month has changed again yesterday and is going under revision again today. Buckle up and don’t let them forget about you.
@Star2236 I had to cancel an ENT appointment since they were going to be investigating an issue with my esophagus. I think because they’re directly handling the areas thought to carry the highest viral load that department in particular needs to be safer. Also, I’m pretty sure PCR tests are required for any internal tests or procedures. So you could have been to the hospital a bunch of times to get external things checked out or blood draws or whatever and not needed one.
@sacbhale
The spec hasn’t been revised. Sadly, the mere fact that they cite the document is not proof that they are compliant with it. There are at least a couple of sites that have been trying to track the claimed-vs.-actual performance of the retail-available masks, but it’s really hard because there are so many Chinese brands that pop up for one load and then vanish.
China continues to cash in on their CoViD-19 cash cow!
I guess you could buy a ton of these to stock up and prepare for the coming, really deadly plague. Hopefully you still have room near your lifetime supply of toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
No mask with a KN95 designation is NIOSH-compliance-tested or NIOSH-approved, period.
No mask with ear loops can be NIOSH-approved, period.
In other words, if you see ear loops or the KN95 (or KF94, for that matter) spec claimed, you know it can’t be NIOSH-approved no matter how good its fit and filtration may be. One of the companies that has been tracking the masks (as best they can) automatically will mark them as Failed merely because they aren’t marked with the full spec that they actually meet, even when their performance exceeds the requirements. Before you accept any third-party evaluations, it’s important to see what their test criteria look like. They could be poorly structured in either direction, and sometimes both.
These masks look the same… honestly I would not buy them again and if it’s the same company…they should be ashamed to sell this product to people for protective purposes. On over 50% of the masks, one strap always snapped when putting the mask on or during use. The KN95 quickly becomes a KNBigFat0.
The manufacturer of these KN95 masks is Chemgde in China. They are distributed by accelerate in the Georgia in the US.
They barely fit my face and they keep slipping up or down.
My wife got KN95 masks made by Fujian Binrong Biotechnology, (long name…), also in China. I don’t know where she got them or how much they were, but they fit great.
I hope the N95 masks I ordered through meh yesterday fit good.

@krazyvolfan Fool. Covid is not over with you.
@krazyvolfan @radi0j0hn We beg the differ. But thanks for your opinion I guess. Meh sigue sell some hydrocortisone cream next.
@krazyvolfan @radi0j0hn actually, for most of us… It is.
Masks two-days in a row? double-meh!

@Star2236 or people who purchase for others. I take care of this type of purchase for a couple of households who are mot internet savy.

@Star2236 I also work in medical, my place gave us two masks this whole time. We reused them for a lot of it or supplied our own.
@crensemble
That’s horrible.

@accelerator @qazxto Already apologized. You feel better now?
@clarinetbob @qazxto your apology was sincere and I believe you when you said you really didn’t mean to condescend. Have a great day, sir.

I went for a walk the other day and found about a dozen masks! I’m set for about 3 weeks now.
@tweezak
Hope they weren’t used lol
@tweezak I have taken two calling the blue masks abandoned all over parking lots “Coney Island bluefish” .
@Star2236 I refer to them as “seasoned”
How about offering some fancy colors like these for health conscious fashionistas who like to coordinate KN95 masks with their outfits?
@heartny SevenForce was the coolest boss in Gunstar Heroes.
Must be leftovers from Scandanavia.
They are the old standard - 2006?

Will these work with Ebola-23?
@OnionSoup
Not if you aren’t exposed to it.
Funny that the brand wasn’t mentioned here in Meh.
It’s CHENGDE btw.

Bog rolls are the Covid-prepper’s ammo stash.
@richrauch @werehatrack The ammo stash is for defending the TP stash.
The reviews on Amazon have multiple reports of “ear loops too short” and one of “too long”, with the latest reviews making no mention of this at all.
@werehatrack It’s good to know that the “ear placement challenged” have a voice at Amazon.
Niosh?
@MalibuSky No even mere mention of Niosh no purchasey says me

It’s not the same company, and those had horribly short ear loops. I still have two boxes of them, unopened, sitting nearby.
