Jerky doesn’t really spoil if it’s dried and sealed properly.
Before COVID hit, I came across a big amount of jerky on sale. I still have some, with expiration dates as early as the end of 2019. It’s still perfectly fine, and I have a bag occasionally in between the fresher stuff.
That said, these little wienies aren’t jerky; their moisture and fat content is too high. However, they should still be good for, like, at least another 6 months past their date, and quite possibly even as long as 2 years (guaranteed if you keep them in the fridge).
If there’s white mold or the taste/smell is off, they’re bad.
@fairchild521 Good point, but I assume most people don’t have the freezer space to keep non-perishables stocked for many years. I certainly don’t. In the back of the fridge is a possibility too.
The texture is more like a beef stick but if you don’t mind that, these are a solid snack for folks who like processed meat and don’t mind the sodium that comes with it. Not a great flavor, solidly Meh. All will be happily consumed here.
“And, btw, let’s be real here: that’s not even that soon. You won’t eat 48 meat snacks in two and a half months (this was a sale from late June)? Sorry! Can’t relate!”
Got these in the last mehrathon. Decent little meat sticks. Could be spicier (but then I use the full packet with the spiciest Buldak Ramen flavor) but acceptable as they are. Would be better if a bit drier, but IMHO not as bad as @Mrmindless feels.
Oh yes! Have to say how happy we are these are back. Got some first time, then three boxes at mehrathon, and now got more. I’m a caregiver and these are a snack that’s easy to eat for my elderly dad and he loves them! I get folks comments on being greasy and they could be a bit drier, no argument there, but when it’s almost impossible to find a protein dad can and will eat in a small quantity and fill his tummy in between meals, these are a godsend. Especially to have something that will last on a very tight budget.
I hope they make an appearance more often than not. I will get some each and every time
Bought a box last time. Still eating on them, I like the taste and texture with a brew on the deck… now thinking about another box but will plop it unopened directly into the freezer until my current box is finished… Shelf life EXTENDED!
I just got these today and they are sort of gray compared to the ones I got in the past. Anyone else have weird issues? They best by date on these look like they have been pre-printed too.

My wife can’t get enough salami
/giphy winning garish nettle
@nikodrant good for you. You must be doing a good job.
Talk me out of it guys!!!
@ctweeks2002 Allright…
You don’t want little shriveled meats in your mouth! You’ll be sorry afterwards, not to mention all the sodium!
Sketchy meat + Meh = nothing good
@ctweeks2002 Sorry, can’t do that. I only bought one box last time and I like them so much I bought 3 this time.
@ctweeks2002 …but why?
@ctweeks2002 @pakopako because they are delicious
@ctweeks2002 The main ingredient comes out of my trunk.

@ShotgunX put them in the freezer and you can definitely go two years beyond the date

Today’s very Meh face and the single word “Sigh” in the write-up sum up my feelings
Not a salami person. I want to know “Where’s the beef?”
Tasty!
Salamis that small, you don’t even notice unless there’s two.
Meh got the 2 salamis, but there is more

Picked these up on a recent Mehrathon.

@rrapnek You make them sound so good…
Got these last time and didn’t expect them to be some of the best I’ve had. May bite on this again because of it.
Got these last time around. I can’t stand them. Flavor is good but they have no texture to them. It’s like meat flavored tubeslime.
Shocked to see the positive reviews. It’s like if all structure was removed from a slimjim and it was just left sorta soggy.
Not at all like the other beef sticks
@Mrmindless It’s /salami/.
I was disappointed in myself that I only bought one box last time. Glad it’s back so soon.

I can imagine the spouse of the person who bought 4: You just bought $100 worth of WHAT?!?
@lisagd ha ha ha ha
Meat! Again?

Got these a couple weeks ago.
They taste fine, but they give me the runs. Like, an hour after eating them, I’m in the bathroom.

@Aryk re-printed
@Aryk This is my first time getting them so I have nothing to compare to but my first thought was that the color looked a bit gray and generally off.
