@macromeh OH MY GOD WE DON’T KNOW FOR SURE THAT THEY’RE NOT IN FACT ENDORSED BY GLEN BECAUSE MAYBE THEY ARE BUT MEH FORGOT TO PUT UP THE RELEVANT PICTURE!!!
@stolicat@werehatrack@shahnm Can we please send the person who started salting caramel off to a deserted island with the person who started salting chocolate? People consume waaay to much sodium without knowing it, and adding it to sweets is completely unnecessary. I say STOP with the salt, especially on my sweets!
@caramelarrow@stolicat@werehatrack I say salt is being wrongly maligned! It’s delicious, healthy, and inexpensive. Those are just a few of the reasons that salt is my favorite food group.
@2many2no@caramelarrow@stolicat@werehatrack Well unless you’re munching on cigarettes, maybe salt can take their place on your otherwise excellent, salubrious, and thoughtful list…
This will perfectly complement my pastadrop spaghetti, 3 sizes of stroopwafels, keto snacks, and harry potter candy.

@compunaut@sammydog01 We have these conversations every time they offer a product like this here.
No, inulin is a prebiotic fiber which, if your body doesn’t tolerate it well (which is true for the majority of people), will cause gas and discomfort.
It’s also an allergen for some. My wife’s throat likes to start swelling shut if she eats it, so now we have to check everything for chicory/endives/inulin.
“No, inulin is a prebiotic fiber which, if your body doesn’t tolerate it well (which is true for the majority of people), will cause gas and discomfort.”
bullshit. it’s a tiny minority that have issues.
and lolz, i only checked the forum to see if people were bitching about inulin (re: vega) again. ffs, i posted research from the NIH and etc last time.
i don’t know why meh is loaded with weirdos that have some kind of tin foil conspiracy about chicory.
tl;dr - if you don’t have ibs, you’ll be fine. if you have ibs, chicory is the least of your concerns, anyway.
@axemurderer This site is full of self styled experts on everything from battery packs to lumens to diamonds desperately trying to get people to not buy anything. I don’t get it.
I just ordered a box again. The almonds sold it. I’ll go tell everyone an axe murderer said it was a good idea. Thanks!
@axemurderer@sammydog01 And you were explained to last time that gut bacteria fermenting prebiotic fibers and creating gas as a byproduct has nothing to do with IBS. That is in fact how the body is supposed to naturally work.
Just because you nuked your colon with steroids and 2-pound servings of cheap, antibiotic-laced chicken breasts doesn’t mean that normal people with existing gut flora wouldn’t be affected.
@sammydog01@ShotgunX some spewing tin foil nonsense that was contradicted by numerous scientific papers, some even from the NIH (that i posted) is hardly ‘i was explained to’
you clowns were btfo and you backpedaled into some steroid nonsense, just like you’re doing now.
and lolz @ jumping to the brilliant conclusion that a meat eating gearhead would be buying explicitly vegan smoothies… from pea protein, no less.
herp. derp.
you don’t know what you’re talking about - like, at all. either about chicory or gearheads or vegans…
ffs, one of you even called the NIH “bro science.” like fauci is some sort of 300 lb roidrilla.
edit:
lolz, it was you. you called the nih study “bro science.”
@axemurderer@sammydog01 Did you even read the study you keep referencing? It quite literally affirms what we’ve been saying in these threads, which is that chicory/inulin causes gas and discomfort:
Results: The two inulin fibers tended to increase GI symptoms mildly. Most frequently reported symptoms were flatulence followed by bloating. The 10-g dose of oligofructose substantially increased GI symptoms compared to control.
@axemurderer@sammydog01 You do realize that gas isn’t a clinical emergency, and that just because something is “well-tolerated” doesn’t mean that it’s something people necessarily want to experience, especially in public, right?
Maybe you constructed an elaborate personal reality in your mind in which we, the evil anti-chicory lobby, are claiming that prebiotic fiber is going to send people to the hospital or make them grow gills or whatever. I don’t know what crazy people think.
Fact of the matter is that it will give most people increased gas and bloating, and the warning is valid. You’re seriously grasping at straws here.
lolz @ even mentioning “grasping at straws” with the umpteen times you threw shit at a wall, hoping something stuck (ie: meat eating gearhead vegans with their probiotic pea protein smoothies and nih bro science).
and/but i guess your math really is that bad, after all.
Hard pass. These use palm kernel oil. I see they ditched their “good for the planet” slogan, at least. Some of their other bars are good, and don’t use palm kernel oil though.
I ordered these, looked at the write-up, saw that tomorrow they’re selling something I could give out on Halloween, and cancelled. Fingers crossed for circus peanuts.
Usually I would worry about the expiration date when I see such a good price, but these things are so freaking good I would probably eat them all in 2 weeks. ♂
@2many2no@funco49
It is truly a shame that the green and purple bunny peeps are not available at Halloween. If you split the ears on those lengthwise, they become Cthulhu peeps.
@Lidio It’s different from state to state. Some states have sales tax on food, prepackaged food or other such nonsense. Would love it if we rolled back taxes on food in all states. Someone at Meh really needs to fix this, though.
And they’re sold out. I do not regret missing this bunch. There are flavors of Kind bar that I like, but this combination didn’t have any of them. I seem to recall that Costco had this exact same combo a while back. I didn’t buy it from them, either.
@cf1
And my comment to a store manager type was that if they wanted to sell me Kind bars, they needed some that didn’t have “Sea Salt” or “Salted Casamel” or “Peanut Butter” in the name. “Salted” anything was Right Out, and if I want peanut butter, there are jars of the good stuff back in the aisle near the cold cases.
It let me put them in my cart but then didn’t let me check out. I see someone over 2 hours ago saying they’re sold out. Wish they didn’t tease me by letting me go through the order screen
These came at the best time, I have to brave pouring rain that at least put out the raging fires. Got the enery to brave the bleak day and tasted great. Sorry I didn’t get more.

@shahnm If they’re not endorsed by Glen, how good can they be? Just sayin’…
@macromeh OH MY GOD WE DON’T KNOW FOR SURE THAT THEY’RE NOT IN FACT ENDORSED BY GLEN BECAUSE MAYBE THEY ARE BUT MEH FORGOT TO PUT UP THE RELEVANT PICTURE!!!
There are three things that I do not want with my dark chocolate; coffee, sea salt, and peanut butter. Meh.
@werehatrack coffee I’m not against, but agree with the others, Whoever started this salted chocolate stuff should be deported …
@stolicat @werehatrack I like peanut butter cups and those tend to be salted, but if these are saltier that’s not good.
@stolicat @werehatrack I’m going to put my life savings into what I’m sure will be the next big thing: chocolated salt. Who’s with me?!?
@stolicat @werehatrack @shahnm Can we please send the person who started salting caramel off to a deserted island with the person who started salting chocolate? Expires before ski season gets going. Way before road trip season starts up again. Meh.
(Both of these are delicious, for those able to get through that many in the next few months.)
@vaticdart Freeze 'em.
Expiration dates are for suckers anyway.
I really don’t like almonds, but for this price I don’t mind putting nuts in my mouth.
This will perfectly complement my pastadrop spaghetti, 3 sizes of stroopwafels, keto snacks, and harry potter candy.

Warning: for no good reason at all, they put chicory root fiber (inulin) in these products.
@ShotgunX is that bad?
@sammydog01 @ShotgunX
Isn’t that a source of extra protein?
@compunaut @sammydog01 @ShotgunX
It’s a source of extra poop-time.
@compunaut @sammydog01 We have these conversations every time they offer a product like this here.
No, inulin is a prebiotic fiber which, if your body doesn’t tolerate it well (which is true for the majority of people), will cause gas and discomfort.
@compunaut @sammydog01 @ShotgunX I eat them all the time - never had a problem.
@compunaut @mwheinz @sammydog01 @ShotgunX Yeah, they only cause the super-farts in about 60% of the population. I guess you’re in the 40%.
@compunaut @Limewater @mwheinz @ShotgunX After the sugar-free Lifesaver road trip fiasco I don’t think it’s worth the risk.
It’s also an allergen for some. My wife’s throat likes to start swelling shut if she eats it, so now we have to check everything for chicory/endives/inulin.

best by 12/1
guess i can eat these instead of doing something else in November?
i said what i said
@TheStas no NUT. this has nuts and will disqualify you.
If I could get all 48 of one kind, I would do this, despite the $8 in taxes + shipping.
@krmtdfrog Ditto. Which kind would you want? No one will eat the PB ones in my house.
@katbyter Same, the PB ones would go untouched.
Bags of candy corn? (Preferably, unmelted.)
We’re overdue – it just hasn’t been as meh without it.
Tomorrow sounds like Candy Corn Monday.

For a brief glorious moment about 4 years ago these were available. I loved them, so of course they got discontinued.
@Kyeh Agreed! Those were delicious. Made a great snack on-the-go.
@caramelarrow I don’t know why energy bars always have to be candy-flavored! I wish they’d bring these back.
Screw your VMP members! What am I paying monthly for. Oh! Thanks for wasting my time FIRST entering info, then telling me.
Not sure what’s going on with their inventory but I just ordered 2…

@Euniceandrich Oops, sorry. We’re sold out.
Wow! That delivery was fast!
Got mine today. I kinda miss the simple joy of forgetting I ordered something from Meh by the time it shows up.
I ate two… hopefully that’s well under my chicory root tolerance threshold.
