Wasn’t this sitting on sale at side deal for this same price for a while now? Would have thought they would at least discount it when putting it up here…
@hchavers@MrNews Or the fermented canned fish from Sweden, surstromming. Or the rotted soybean canned “treat” from Japan called natto. This is not by any means an exhaustive list of foods that people who didn’t come up with them think are vile and nasty.
@hchavers and it’s the gift that keeps on giving because it’s proudly served front-and-center in any korean restaurant worth a damn. It’s an acquired taste, to be sure!
Still working in the last two boxes I bought last time. Kimchi is better than the chicken curry. I’d eat this every day if it wasn’t for the sodium content. Add mushrooms, Costco rotisserie chicken, and a little sour cream. Yum.
@goldnectar ha that’s funny I came to the comments to tell people I like the curry more and after living in Korea for a spell I probably like kimchi more than your average American but for me it’s the curry hands down! And strangely I’m normally not a huge curry fan but I love this curry ramen. Anyways for those shopping they’re both good, you can’t go wrong with buldak and if you eat enough of it pepper spray will stop having any effect on you!
Hey meh purchasers… Buldak is nice and all, but any chance you could use your retail channels to score some Omachi brand ramen (pork flavor in particular)? My current source has’t had any in stock for a few months now and I’m starting to go into withdrawl.
I got these the last time. I ended up giving most of them away. It wasn’t bad, NGL it had a weird taste. I am no Ramen expert, but compared to the Spicy Chicken Curry Ramen, I couldn’t see myself substituting these when I cook. Plus I have a ton of the Spicy Chicken to happily get through still.
@richrauch Good ramen is well worth a dollar or two per package. Sadly, the vast majority of ramen available in US grocery stores is NOT good ramen.
Quick tip: even if you’re completely unfamiliar with a brand, check the instructions and package contents. One sachet (flavored salt “soup base”) = crap. Two sachets (soup base + dried veggies or oils) = getting warmer. Three+ sachets (base, oils, veggies, dehydrated meat, topping flakes, etc) and you may actually have a really tasty meal in hand! Bonus points when the soup base is a paste and not a powder.
@richrauch@Turken Every Buldak I’ve tried was three-packet, as are the majority of the ones at the Asian grocery stores where we regularly get our favorites. This is not to say that I don’t have fond memories of grabbing a hot styrofoam Nissin Cup Noodles on a cold day back when I didn’t know that better stuff existed. Now? I have the vacuum-insulated stainless bowls, the electric kettle, and the packets of the good stuff.
I’ve been eating expired Buldak ramen for months now. If this stuff goes bad I don’t know when that might be. Can see myself getting some more of this but can also see myself having to move into the shed if my wife finds out.
@zuiquan I bought the Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen* a year ago and still have a few packs left. It does definitely have a stale taste now, although if you add the full flavor packet it would probably cover it up, but that’s too spicy for me. These are probably going to go into the compost pile. *(BB was 6/23/23)
@Kyeh Ah good to know! I’ll have to prioritize the ones that are nearing that year date for consumption. I figure even if some do get too stale to eat the price was right and I won’t feel too bad about it.
@zuiquan Same here. I will usually buy a couple dozen at a time of various flavors. If I am not home alone a lot or traveling a lot sometimes they expire. I don’t notice any difference. As long as nothing is growing on it I still eat it.
At this point I’m gambling if I will die from my blood pressure and sodium levels or starving in the apocalypse. I really hope these last very much longer than the date. If I try to eat them too fast it will kill me.
Buldak ramen is some of the best packaged ramen I’ve ever had. The spiciness is fantastic, and the flavors are great. And this deal on Meh is second to none.

POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
Babish rated this 9 out of 10 in his rankings of a bunch of packaged ramen. This one’s at 33:06 if you want to skip right to it.

@Smersh Actually, only a couple of Buldak varieties were disallowed, the rest are still available - and even more popular than before.
@Smersh I was wondering if these were the ones they banned. Smart people, those Danes.
Wasn’t this sitting on sale at side deal for this same price for a while now? Would have thought they would at least discount it when putting it up here…
@ctweeks2002 right! They should be cheaper here! At SideDeal any VMP’s get a 10% discount (code VMP), so they would have been cheaper there.
@ctweeks2002 @TimW Maybe they added it here thinking it’d cause people to buy it on Sidedeal.
I love this stuff but the spiciness level is pretty moderate compared to other Buldak products I’ve tried.
@brennyn how does it compare to the quattro and carbonara, if you’ve tried those?
@omally I’d say around 15% more than the carbonara.
@omally It’s pretty close to the curry flavor’s level of spice, if you’ve tried that. I’d say maybe 20-40% less heat than quattro.
Kimchi is the spoiled cabbage joke Korea had played on the rest of the world, just like burnt fish from New Orlieans renamed Blackened.
@hchavers Or the lye-soaked rotted fish Minnesotan Swedes call lutefisk…

@hchavers It’s fermented, and it’s delicious, ya heathens.![:laughing:](https://dj5zo597wtsux.cloudfront.net/joypixels/assets/6.6/png/unicode/64/1f606.png)
Meh would be such a great site if I really loved noodles and dog food. I’d be eating good.
@AaronLeeJohnson I find that the noodles are improved by leaving out the dog treats.
@werehatrack You haven’t lived until you eat Rachal Ray’s Greenie’s, soaked in spicy ramen stock.

@benf_dc - Ouch!
@benf_dc They already said it’s delicious!

@goldnectar Thanks for the sweet suggestions… I really should add mushrooms to this.

@LilSatan Pretty!
You absolutely COULD make a margarita out of these. It would be pretty weird, but you could mix it with tequila and lime.
/showme a margarita made with tequila, salt, lime, and spicy chicken ramen noodles
@mediocrebot that’s the best looking margarita I’ve ever seen!

I’d love to see Nongshim brand, too - they have some really good flavors for people who don’t love having their tastebuds blowtorched.

$3 each at Amazon…??
If I ever pay even $1 for a package of RAMEN, just lock me up.
