360° cameras
0It looks like a couple of these will be coming to market after their crowdsharing pledges ship in the next couple of months.
The Panono is a 360° by 360° camera that uses 36 cameras to stitch together its panoramas but takes still photos only:

(Drag to see the octocopter that's hauling it around.)
And the Giroptic 360cam takes more standard panoramas and can stream video over wi-fi or record it to a Micro SD card:
Both look a whole lot like generation 1.0 products, but they also look like a hell of a lot of fun. Any others that anyone has checked out yet?

Wow and the GoPro unit does it with only 6.
@editorkid, check out the Kodak PIXPRO XP360:
@ruouttaurmind This looks pretty sweet. Thanks for the pointer; I'll look up more info at lunchtime.
My buddy is trying to get a ricoh theta mounted on his phantom. Not sure where he is at with that project.
@garyhgaryh I wonder if you couldn't get a 1/4 "Gender changer" and connect it directly to a GoPro 1/4 and use it's connection type for connecting to a phantom. I've got so many of those connectors now with the set I bough I should be able to have it connect with the original GoPro holder connection.
@DJMajickMan I met with the guy yesterday and forgot to ask him about his ricoh theta project. I'll try to find out how he mounted it. Good idea about mounting it to the gopro holder connection. I remember him talking about the landing gears and other parts getting in the way of the pics.
