@Kross mine are scheduled for delivery tomorrow…hopefully before the little beggars start knocking on my door! And hopefully not delayed for any reason.
I don’t know if you are doing it to mess with us or not, but when I ordered 10 it said 50 in the on screen summary. In orders it does show 10… so if it’s on purpose… YOU GOT ME
@medz I can see how that would look:
Dave: Would you like a fidget spinner, Hershey bar, or brick of candy corn?
Child: Hershey bar, who wants a brick of candy corn?
Dave: Well there is this website called Meh and they sell one thing… HEY!?! kid where are you going?
Kid:RUNS
@Pantheist same - about 1/3 of the time the meh face spins because my click hasn’t stuck, so i had to refresh the page a few times before i reached “oh, i see what you did there…”
@intenseNERD wow you guys got a deal, our walmart has one of the “dvd bin” things full of them… 2 weeks ago they were 4.50, then they were 3.00… yesterday I saw they were down to 2.50…
@CptTritium I know, right? Wrap 3 different boxes in different shapes for the same person with a different number is spinners inside! “3 gifts?! You shouldn’t have!”
Laughed out loud when I read the suggestion to give kids the choice of either a fidget spinner or candy corn on Halloween! Hahahahaha! Wish I was able to grab the 50 pack of candy corn when it was offered!!!
Edit: And again at the very next line after I posted this! With the razor blades! Lol
@shawn Weirdness happening also on Chrome/PC. Links responding sluggishly, page wouldn’t load when linked from Newsblur (had to just type ‘meh.com’ instead)
@Kerig3 It’s a poorly paid call center, mostly talking to old people. So… yes. The average tenure is 6 months, and that’s with their culture of substance abuse
It sold me when I found that they light up, but I never thought about all those batteries!! What kind or size of batteries are they? Can you remove them ?
The batteries are a popular lithium watch battery, CR2025, which sell for about $0.50 apiece on Amazon. Since we’re selling the spinners themselves for $0.40 apiece, you’d be getting each CR2025 battery for about $0.13 each.
This is actually a solid buy argument to buy if you have contraptions hungry for CR2025s.
A while back I bought a 28 pack of “Flameless Tea Lights” that came with an extra 28 CR2032s at Costco. Don’t recall what we used those batteries for - several things, watches, and I think our Honda remote keys.
@RedOak Yeah, just recently replaced the batteries in both mine and my gf’s key fobs (we both drive Mazdas) and they were CR2025s. Being that they should last another 2 to 3 years and I still have extras, maybe I could buy these and start a side business.
”Imagine how their eyes will light up when you tell them they can pick either candy corn or a light-up fidget spinner.”
This is why I keep coming back. Not for the speaker docks or quivers of perfectly mediocre knives. I come back for the self deprecation in the write-ups alluding to regrets about past buys.
Take a piece of smooth plywood or hardboard; slick paint surface preferable. Glue the spinners (centers) strategically in a pattern with enough space between them for a puck or disk to pass between by spinning them (alternatively for another spinner to dink its way down between them). Raise board to near vertical. Drop disks or spinners. Spinny lighty pachinko!
@Thumperchick Sorry, had to work again and didn’t see your post. It would be a couple of weeks before work frees up enough (working weekends again), so I’m looking forward to Riotdemon’s build!
@duodec@RiotDemon I was thinking along the lines of dowels on the board instead of glue. I knew I should have bought more! I promised mine to my school teacher sister. I will snitch a couple to play with though.
Do these turn on and keep flashing or flash with movement?
@speediedelivery I have some from Gearbest that look like these. Each light turns on separately by clicking and they stay on. There are three speeds- I like the slow one the best.
@duodec thanks! I had planned previously to build a plinko board for work, so I had started to look at tutorials before. Been looking up a few tutorials on how people figured out the spacing for the normal chip. I’ll have to test fit with the spinners. Probably won’t be able to use another fidget as the chip, I’m guessing it’ll have too much potential to get caught.
I have a lot of ideas in my head, but until I get them in my hands, I’ll have to wait. I’m excited.
@speediedelivery@riotdemon I was thinking (later) that glue or double face tape might not work; it depends on how level the plastic center caps are to the spinner, and how well they would hold on to the bearing. Dowels sound good, especially if they can be had in the right diameter to fit the center bearing I.D. Or close enough that a quick sanding would make them fit (which would also provide a shoulder the bearing could seat against and space the spinner away from the backer)
That is cheaper than my thought, which was either mounting studs (wood thread on one end, machine on the other) or shelf support studs. The former can use washers and nut to hold the spinner; the latter has to be closely matched for size to the center bearing I.D. and a drop of loctite or epoxy would hold it.
@RiotDemon If dowels don’t work out 5 minute epoxy to the center caps will, although it’s not reversible. Hot glue would be easy and cheap but I’m not sure it would hold up.
If you have a Meh face stress puck that might be a decent chip to use.
@RiotDemon I’m sure you’ll manage. Especially if you have a piece of plywood already available. If not sometimes Home Depot and the like have scrap smaller pieces of plywood available (leftovers from custom cuts for other customers).
If you can get an A (or AA) grade scrap piece that’ll give you a smooth surface to start with. I’m not sure what surface treatment… you want as slick as possible. Maybe paint then car wax? My wife suggests a piece of (scrap again) formica countertop, or maybe even the piece cut out from countertop to fit the sink? Should be cheap since its usually thrown away.
Dowels: hardware store may have bulk packaged wood pegs used for glue and peg attaching wood parts together, already cut to length and fluted so they’ll drive into a somewhat smaller hole. If by chance they’re close enough to the bearing I.D. that would save cutting down a long dowel.
@duodec@RiotDemon I think you can get sheets of plexiglass or similar at the hardware store. Peg board might help with spacing and layout. I would take a walk through the home improvement section before starting.
@TheDagda Oh my God, now I know why I couldn’t remember any of the useful things I did in my youth — there weren’t any. I spent the whole damn time spinning rulers on pencils instead.
@djslack i know: its 9:30 ET and they’ve sold almost 2000, with >60% as 50 packs.
a) i cant believe over 1000 people want 50 packs,
b) thats getting up around 100K spinners, how many did Meh buy?!?!?!
If these don’t arrive by halloween so that I can make neighborhood parents rue the day they dragged their evil little spawn across my doorstep, I’m going to have to sit down and really think about what I’m doing with my life now that it has 50 crappy fidget spinners in it
Why? Why do these even exist? Why do people even buy them? What is their purpose except to annoy everyone until they die a quick and painfully flame fueled death? (I can only hope fidget spinners die a painfully flame fueled death.)
At least pet rocks and mood rings were silly and innocuous. These things are just… DYAAAHHH!!!
@stuntdriver
If you stack them in a tube, you can make one 1665 volt battery to shock trick or treaters with.
If you create 112 stacks of four and connect them in parallel, you could probably jump start the space shuttle.
The possibilities are endless!
@bogie I hope you sold all of yours before this thing happened. I really like my glow in the dark one! I keep one in the car to play with at red lights instead of screaming obscenities at people who cut me off.

I too have been giving out two-glow-bracelets-per-kid for Hallowe’en for years and the kids love’em. The moms can spot their little darlings from two blocks away, there are no candy wrappers for the neighborhood to deal with or tummyaches from too much candy. BUT THIS YEAR IT’S FIDGET SPINNERS! I will RULE this year! YES! Unless they don’t get here until December… in which case they go in stockings lol…
Is anyone else having the following issue when attempting to make a purchase - “Let’s try that again. THE BILLING ADDRESS FAILED VALIDATION.” I’ve searched the forums and have tried the following:
Paste your address and name exactly as stated on your card’s statement - no resolution (I couldn’t put in the 4 digit postal code)
Invert your street address (move line 1 to line 2, line 2 to line 1) - no resolution
Remove APT/Suite and put # - no resolution
Remove anything before apartment/suite number - no resolution
Check with the card issuer to see if there is an error on your part - no resolution
Various permutations of 2, 3, and 4.
I notified @meh via the support form above. I am wondering if I should e-mail them as well? If so, should I e-mail halp@meh.com or help@meh.com? That was kind of unclear in the forums.
I literally get maybe five trick or treaters a year. But the 50 pack is such a great deal. And I don’t really need or want these, but the temptation to do something crazy with them is high. Must think about this, I may need them.
If I don’t get these by Halloween, I’m going to have some really unhappy folks at Christmas. “Sorry honey, I know you REALLY wanted that 2 carat diamond pendant but my money is tied up in these. Maybe next year, sweetums!”
My kids took the light-up “pods” off of a fidget spinner and tacked to them their bikes. Looks pretty bad-ass at night, imo. Of course, I paid a lot more their one vs. the price for 50 of these…
I am buying 50 of these to hand out at Halloween. I will ask every adult if their child has one, and if they don’t I will give one to said child. This is so every parent, like me, will know the joys of their offspring spinning these things till it’s all they can see in their nightmares. Happy Halloween suckers! (Or am I sucker for buying them… hmmmm.) bogus-shaggy-scarecrow
My kid’s birthday is at the beginning of December. These are the perfect thank-you bag stuffers. Of course, the school already has a no-fidget-spinner ban in place, so the receipt code is perfect:
Over 128,000 spinners have sold so far. That’s 384k batteries on their way out of the warehouse, and 50 packs haven’t sold out yet. These may be in competition with candy corn for sheer quantity.
@connorbush@ManBehindPlan@sammydog01 fyi, that coupon code only works for people who have been given that coupon code (like for some specific customer support issues). So you should check your meh.com/orders page to see what you paid and make sure you’re fine with that.
I ordered a 20 pack and then I came back for 50 more…why?.. Why?
Because I am a SICKO - a classic case of chronic
meh-ahosis. And this was- even before opening my noon six pack!
What am I ever going to do with all these frickin’ fidgits?
Once I rip open a bunch, I’ll have a lifetime battery supply for my red-dot gun sights. I guess I’ll string up some as targets, then look to Youtube and Instructables for fidget hacks.
I can’t justify $5 shipping for a $10 item. And with all the free shipping out there, even on cheap items now on walmart.com, meh has got to revisit their shipping policy. With VMP gone and no replacement, paying 50% of the purchase price on shipping sucks.
@communist you, therefore, support my point. meh needs to address it’s business model. if the meh shipping charge negates the lower price, it’s not a sustainable model. it may work for more expensive products, but not $10 spinners.
@twz “meh needs to address it’s business model” sez the guy who didn’t just sell 186,530 fidget spinners yesterday
seriously though, we’ll probably have a new subscription program with free shipping benefits in the future. I don’t have a date yet. Maybe early 2018. Hopefully sooner.
@shawn … lol, i see the irony of questioning a business model that can sell treMEHndous number of spinners but i still want a new VMP (or EMP or SMP) to help delude me into believing shipping is marginally free.
@blaineg I ordered zero, then my wife found out and said get 50 of them. Between wife behavior and no circuit breaker for hundreds of thousands of spinners, today feels like Meh bizarro day.
@blaineg assuming that each order is 35 spinner (averaging 50 and 20) they’ve sold 150,000 of these so far. My objection is this is cheap, plastic, landfill fodder, but then I bought 50 anyway on the grounds that meh’s not really creating a demand, they’re just going through another set of hands before hitting the landfill.
@ergomeh the average looks to be closer to 42 if you want to do it that way, so over 180k total. Just under 75% of orders are 50-packs. Once the deal is over I was gonna do the math again, but sometime midday it was over 128k spinners ordered.
@mossygreen They hope to attract more users than google that way? ("But mom I was Yahooing image fidget spinner not image spinning boobs. I can prove it - see what search terms I put in there. ").
Yeah, I was planning to check to see if they were still available in the morning then got up 10 minutes after they went off sale for us ‘slackers’ (assuming they didn’t sell out…)
I do suspect we will see these again though…
@dave I know I always point this out but pricing referenced in the Meh writeup is not consistent with Morningsave pricing in the fidget spinner deal linked above.
@djslack@dave I sent this to support over the weekend. It happens often over there that the writeup mentions the price and it is not updated before posting.
@djslack@dave It also references batteries that these may or may not have.
Also at this point, why not sell them as 18 (1 box) or 54 (3 boxes)? Why subject the warehouse to opening up prepackaged boxes, grabbing from one to fill another, etc.?
@narfcake I thought the same thing. I had to count my open box to make sure I got a total of 50. They could make a big stink about a “buy 50, get 4 free!” sale or something. The 4 extras could be touted as spare parts.
@lowtopp Meh would have to send those 187k to @meh first. Then maybe she’ll know the answer.
(@meh - Are you getting anything for being subjected to this at least once a month? Hopefully NOT 187k fidget spinners either! @dave can’t be that evil …)
@medz Thanks. Confirmed that the tracking number has been made(or allocated) … hoping actual delivery starts as soon as possible. Need to get before Halloween.
@lowtopp The rest of your statement should now read, "But there’s still plenty of time for them to get to me between Monday, October 30th - Monday, November 6th, AND I’ll have them for NEXT Halloween, for sure!
They’ve changed the Estimate Delivery Date range of the original listing to November 6th! I really don’t like it when they do that without making an announcement or pointing out the edit in some way. Seems shady.
@medz Seems? It straight up IS shady! grr. I don’t think I would have ordered them with THAT WIDE of a delivery window. We were told they would ship Monday.
@Barney I always thought of them as honest but fallible. But ninja edits on delivery dates kinda piss me off. Come on @dave. If you bit off more than you can chew just admit it. We would understand. At least I and Barney would.
@Barney I’m envisioning a warehouse incident involving several toppled pallets of candy corn and fidget spinners that has totally log-jammed shipping operations. Now they have all hands-on-deck sorting out the loose candy and spinners that are mixed up and scattered on the floor.
We got some of the fidget spinners shipped out yesterday, and the rest shipped out the door today. It’s a lot of work shipping out almost 200,000 fidget spinners.
I still stick by what we said in the sale - we certainly can’t guarantee Halloween delivery, but we still think most people will probably get them by then. There’s 5 business days between now and Halloween night, and USPS also works on Saturdays. From what we know, about 50% of people get their stuff in 4 business days.
If you’ve ordered before, you can probably get a decent gauge of time between shipment and delivery for you, and there’s no real reason this one would be different.
All of that said, I did what I could to make sure we weren’t too portraying this as too certain, and that you should try to have some plans for what you’ll do with a crapload of fidget spinners besides Halloween.
(Separately, I’m digging into why that estimate changed, my suspicion is we have something that updates it automatically based on shipped dates.)
@dave My expected date of delivery is 11/01, which is SIX working days from now on. USPS working on Saturday doesn’t really matter here since it will be still on FedEx’s hands on Saturday.
@speediedelivery Well, that’s the way I thought we were supposed to order them – by the number of hands we have. But now I’m worried that I might have more hands than I thought and maybe I should have have placed an order for at least 20 spinners.
Estimated Delivery range was ninja-edited again! November 1st is the EARLIEST now. We’re going to have to start taking screen shots of the product page and archiving them if we ever want to stand a chance in court.
Me: Buys blender on meh
Meh: ninja edits product page to change it to a fidget spinner
Me: This isn’t a blender. I only purchased because the page said it was a blender.
Meh: Too bad. We must have something that automatically updates the page based on the ratio of blenders to fidget spinners we have in stock.
Me: I didn’t agree to this. This wasn’t the terms when I paid.
Meh: Prove it!
Me: …
Meh: Enjoy your fidget spinner.
@mikibell Bummer. I have a spinner from Gearbest that only has one light and it works pretty well. Maybe if you can get one working light on each of them?
Mine shipped with an estimated delivery 11/2. Often times the date changes and I get my package earlier. I don’t get many trick or treaters, so I’m not worried. I just won’t answer the door on Halloween if the spinners don’t show up by then.
@heartny I have an 11/2 date as well. I sure hope they come early. Our neighborhood gets a couple hundred kids on Halloween and the first 50 were going to get a choice. Now they all just get candy and Santa will have to fill up my nieces and nephews’ stockings with spinners.
/8ball Should we blame @RiotDemon that these might not be delivered by Halloween, as noted in the sale?
My reply is no
/8ball Should we unblame @RiotDemon that these might not be delivered by Halloween, forcing the buyers to deal with this crap instead of foisting them on innocent trick-or-treaters?
Most likely
If these were shipped Monday as advertised then I’d have had a 10/31 delivery date. Instead, I have to buy candy and then figure out what to do with 50 fidget spinners.
Friday delivery for me…I get to be the cool guy on the block handing out spinners…

Sadly, I believed the following: *They’ll ship on Monday and delivery takes 4 days on average. But an "average” is not a “certainty.” They’ll be here after Halloween when (per the “advertisement”) they were due to be delivered well before that date. I appreciate a deal - but in the future, let’s be square with each other…okay?
@blaineg Mine didn’t get to the Fedex location until too late Wednesday to ship…They left Thursday. I don’t mind an uncertain departure date but shipping Monday vs. late Wednesday (de facto Thursday). They’ll get here…11/01/17. What a difference a day makes!
@FrancesTaylor@blaineg Yep, they more or less promised shipping on Monday and then Dave said they had all been shipped on Tuesday. Did you complain to CS? It seems to me that you have a valid point.
Shoot. My delivery just switched from the 30th to the 31st. As I won’t be home and they won’t leave it here I will not be able to pick them up until after halloween. While a good chunk of them are for family, there were some left over I was going to give to kids. This is a poor neighborhood and I figured the local kids would like them (unlikely the well to do kids would come here to trick or treat).
/image this is very sad
Not getting her until the 2nd or 3rd…I forgot exactly…doesn’t matter BECAUSE IT IS AFTER HALLOWEEN
Damn you guys, you did the same thing back on woot! Put up something that would be great for a holiday too late for it to be delivered by then.
Agggggggggh.
Give us credit to be able to think ahead for a holiday and put the stuff up in time!
Now I’m going to be handing them out at Christmas, but will have a bunch leftover. Then I’ll lose them before next Halloween.
Although…I did think that if word got out I was giving out something good, I would be overrun with kids.
Maybe
Nobody seems to Trick or Treat anymore.
Stupid Costco didn’t have the tiny play dough cans for halloween this year.
If I get fat eating the candy that is left over because of this, I’m going to find you guys! I’m going to sit in your office and talk and talk and talk with my 3rd generation brooklyn/italian accent until you want to explode!
@medz My joy was short-lived. The very first one I opened (I had to test one of the damn things) is defective. One of the 3 light-pod thingies wouldn’t light up. I took it apart (what fun!) and I was able to get it to work (no dead battery! Yay!) but after putting it all back together it again refuses to light. I am not got to test any more of them but if the first one is any indication these things are shit.
@boc Well that sucks big time. I had bought 50 thinking I was solving a number of christmas presents all at once for 40 cents each (needed 24 of them), was disposing of some the extras with bribery for teaching evals (six of my students won one earlier this week in the Kitty Hawk exercise and so are waiting on their prizes) and on Halloween as I was told we get about 15 or so kids total in this neighborhood as parents mostly drive their kids to the “better” ones which would not be ours.
@sammydog01 i ordered 100. There was one open box of ten. The shipping box was the manufacturers. It is vague company and i work in a science lab. I think someone was looking to help me put away supplies, saw them, went all adhd on me and played with them.
Hey, Meh! It’s a week after the fact and the order is still processing… Cancel & refund please. I was willing to take the chance if they shipped on the 23rd, but now there’s just no way they’d be here in time for 10/31…
Meh… mine has been delayed to Nov. 2nd now. Leaving in the cold New England area. I had a bit of hope getting a day earlier when the ETA was Nov. 1st, but now that hope is gone.
@smilingjack UPS? What do you think this is, Amazon? Smartpost hands off the package to the USPS to deliver. At least they do that with mine. Then the mail carrier drops it in the marigold bed next to the mail box. It think he’s getting sick of my Meh purchases.
Mine just came! Early (although repeatedly changing delivery dates). Only 48 in my box of 50 though. There are sealed boxes of 16 and then loose ones. Someone can’t count. Haven’t taken one out of its box to test it though. Some of my students won one in the Kitty Hawk activity in class last week so when I distribute their winnings on Monday I’ll let them test them out and see how many work as advertised. If not well then they at least have a car clicker battery. If they have non-working ones well I guess I’ll have fewer to hand out at halloween after I pull the 24 for family (plus a few spares in case there are non-working ones since K-12 kids (every single one LOL) are getting these and not adults - although I might throw out some hints to see if any young adults (eg the college student ones) are interested. Be cool if I could settle all presents for those that bunch. My siblings and their spouses, well that is less likely they’d want one but one never knows. I could tell my sister, who has never seen a flashlight she hasn’t wanted, that these are flashlights in disguise since they light up (grin).
@RiotDemon not to mention someone in the warehouse can’t count. I got 48 of them. All your fault goat LOL (not going to fuss over 80 cents worth of stuff - just two poor little trick or treaters won’t get one now. Over half are family present solutions so I can’t sacrifice those as that is why I even bought them to begin with).
So they free spin for around a minute… they seem to have a non replaceable 1.5mm ball bearing center… (the others I have seen to have 2mm ball bearing units).
The lights are pretty cool inside and outside of the unit… I have placed the lights into a ‘premium’ spinner I have and they do fit but are pretty light so you might get reduced spin time due to lack of mass.
The red ones don’t seem to spin as smoothly or as long as the black and blue ones… no idea why… maybe just a bad sample I grabbed.
@thismyusername Interesting; I only looked at the two loose ones in my order, red and blue, and my experience matched yours; the blue one is slick as snot and spins a good 20 seconds longer than the red one, which rattles, and the bearing hub has a lot of play.
These pieces of shit didn’t come with useful CR2025 batteries. They came with infinitely less useful CR1220 batteries. Now what am I supposed to do with them?!
I can’t even think of what to do with 50 non-shielded 625 single-row bearings now.
@narfcake Ahh crap… So here’s how that went down – we received samples of the inventory which contained CR2025 batteries. Naturally, we expected all units to have CR2025 batteries.
Come to find out today, we were sent two types of spinners with the same model number and same retail packaging. All units look and function the same, but I guess the manufacturer switched up the battery & led board combo mid-production. SHUCKS! Sorry, @narfcake and anyone else who got CR1220 batteries and were expecting CR2025.
My 50 arrived just in time to give out to guests last night at our outer space themed Halloween party. I called them UFO’s. Today, they’re all over the house in various states of disassembly and blinkage.
Mine also came with the pretty useless CR1220s which really sucks because I had a plan for 150 CR2025’s.
Just got around to opening mine up and the failure rate thus far is impressive. Not impressive as in most of them are working, but impressive as in it’s hard to believe these were sold even on a discount website for a crazy low price per item.
Seriously, if I end up with 50 working lights (not fully functional three lighted spinners) I’ll consider the entire endeavor a break even affair. I expect some product in a bulk order to fail, but 60%+ is a bit much even for Meh.
@Tin_Foil
Weird. I haven’t been all through the whole box of 20 but all lights cycle through 3 settings. Are you gently squeezing the light parts? You don’t have to get all masher with them man.
@therealjrn Haha! Yeah, I know how they work. Out of the thirty I’ve tested so far, my very grim outlook has somewhat turned around. Currently I have seventeen (out of ninety) failed lights and four failed spinners.
For lights, I consider them failed if they don’t turn on or are missing a RBG light. A failed spinner is when the hold area breaks off due to the stem being cracked or otherwise damaged (probably during assembly).
I’m not being harsh here – plenty of the lights are dim and sucky, but if they turn on, that’s good enough for me.
[edit – it appears my greatest rate of failure were the ones added outside of the normal eighteen count box]
@therealjrn@Tin_Foil I guess I need to test all of mine before halloween as over half are christmas presents, 6 go to students who won them and the rest were being disposed of for halloween. Gotta satisfy the christmas present pile and student pile before I see if I have any left for halloween. Looks like I might have to buy candy too. Apparently we don’t get many kids here because this is a crappy neighborhood, but I had wanted to give a treat to poor kids.
@Tin_Foil I only considered mine a failure if they didn’t light up at all. I probably have about 15 more that don’t light up properly plus the 5 totally failed (after swapping) and the 2 that were missing to begin with. I hope meh makes good on this. I buy things expecting them to work as advertised which is not the case here. If I buy a fuko then I expect stuff like what has happened with these.
@Tin_Foil do you inquire with your neighborhood postal carrier whether they had used your Meh box as a stool, thusly squish-activating the entire batch?
Like someone else found the red ones have issues. So far I have 6 red ones that don’t work (either lights out or doesn’t spin or both) and 5 that do. I have 7 more red ones to test. Sigh.
@thumperchick, @dave@woodhouse @??? is there anyway I can trade in the non-working ones for blue and black that, so far, all seem to work? If it is at all possible to know prior to halloween then I will know how many I can give to trick or treaters (the rest are christmas presents and for 6 students who won Kitty Hawk).
If I can figure out how to take them apart without breaking them I can swap batteries out to make the spinning red ones work, but a bunch don’t spin either. I’ll also send a support note when I am done testing with the final number. So far all black and blue ones are fine and work well.
Just posting here so that maybe if I am lucky you will see it before the support email and I can hear back by halloween as that affects what I do; whether or not I have to buy candy… Thanks so much!
Well I discovered that the white discs with the lights in them just push out (they go out one side easier than the other). So now, after trading out light disks I only have 4 broken red ones (don’t spin). And counting the two I didn’t receive I am down 6. So far the other two colors work - still testing… (takes time to open the boxes carefully so I can close them and they still look unopened).
@medz Trade out the lights if you get ones like I had where 1 light was out and the other two worked. I had 10 “broken” red ones (lights out). Down to 4 that also don’t spin (and have some lights out too). And of course missing 2. Still working on testing the black and blue ones.
@medz half aren’t dead and you can pop out the white things to swap the working units out with the non-working units (so you don’t have to pry those white things open to move batteries around). Around 10% or so are dead basically.
@sammydog01 you will likely get more than that. Took me over an hour to test them all though since I wanted to put them back together to look new and unopened.
Geez… I’m glad I was sent these for plinko. I have a shit load that have broken/dead lights or don’t spin. I still have one case to go through, and then I’ll swap the light things between them to see how many complete ones I have. Hopefully when I swap them around, I only have a few dead.
@RiotDemon You can pop out the light thing. I only ended up with 5 totally broken ones. I took the lights that were working in them to fix a few others.
Mine just arrived - I’ve only opened up one and my first thought was it spun like crap (a red one) - then it got better after spinning a while - now its mostly meh.
My high school age son saw the box and said indignantly, “FIFTY? MOM DAD BOUGHT FIFTY! DID YOU KNOW THAT?” then walked away and finished with “I’M TAKING A BOX!” (18 to a box by the way).
@ilovereality Did you play with the lights? I have one I think is the same and the slowest setting is really cool. But then I’m easy to entertain.
/giphy pretty lights
For any wondering how long the batteries last… I have left one running for 48 hours and while it has lost some of the intensity it is still flashing away, if it was being used to draw attention to someone it would still be effective but it is not lighting up the room anymore.
Ok, so out of the 50 I was sent, 24 had something wrong with them. After a ridiculous amount of fiddling:
5 bodies don’t spin
3 light pods don’t have a red light which makes an interesting green blue only spinner
12 lights that didn’t work
I pried all the non working lights open and swapped batteries around. Ended up with:
7 bad batteries
4 bad boards
So I ended up with 44 that work mostly as they should, except some spin really shittily… I don’t feel like going through them to count the crappy spinners. And 1 blue/green spinner.
I would never ever recommend these to anyone. I spent hours with these.
I hit the jackpot with my 20. All of them spin and have working lights. I’ve dissected one of each color, and they all have the coveted CR2025 battery. I feel like I should buy a lottery ticket.
@sammydog01 I think so. I am getting my box this morning. I was excited about getting them but then was reading the thread. I am not planning to hand them out tonight so I was not worried if they came late.
@Trillian the 2025s must be a newer batch. All the lights I opened to attempt to fix had the smaller batteries. My red spinners that don’t work had rusted bearings and the boards that didn’t work had rusted battery holders. I’m assuming they sat in a humid warehouse, or they got wet before packaging.
@rprussell I used my teeth. I suppose you could use pliers. I just bit down on the middle of the skinny side, rotating it a couple of times to squeeze them apart.
Don’t use a knife. I almost sliced my finger open.
@rprussell Maybe with the good batteries that might be it. With the bad ones, which is in all the ones I got, I fiddled with the placement and nothing happened. The one thing I didn’t try was to sub the battery out in a working one to see if it is the battery or the circuit.
@Kidsandliz Interesting. I didn’t realize there were two kinds of batteries - mine says “CR1220” on it, so after a bit of reading I see those are the “bad” ones too.
@sammydog01 I just ordered more for Christmas. I only had 4 or 5 that didn’t work. Hope that happens again. Of course, since I ordered them nobody had come to the door. I had put aside about 15 for family that I will now give out…if anyone else comes. They did cost $8 more with shipping.
Quick check of lights only shows 3 black ones totally dead, 8 blue 4 black 4 red with at least one working light and 10 blue 9 black 18 red with all lights functioning. Some working lights are weak and a few bright.
I need to get some stupid real life stuff done before I play anymore with these.
So, the first one I pulled out of the box of 50, all three of the lights didn’t work. On number 2, only 2 of the three lights worked. Then, the batteries (the only reason I bought them) I found all of them had the smaller batteries, not the 2025 that I needed (and yes I have a business that has a need for 150 of these 2025 or 2032) So, now I have 50 spinner that only about 60% of them in working condition (I could Frankenstein together more, but bad spinners are more common than bad lights)
This was a bad deal and my very fist Meh.com bad deal. I’ll be more careful on what I buy in the future.
@djslack all gone a few minutes ago. Kids running to the street yelling “I GOT A FIDGET SPINNER!” happened multiple times.
Also a few “best house ever” comments. And this is with no decorations in a neighborhood where there are several haunted porches and lawns done up very big.
Me: Happy Halloween! Pick a color. I have black, blue, and red.
Kid 1 ( 8yr old): Oh shit this guys has spinners. I want a pink one
Kid 2 (10 yr old maybe brother) You stupid man, he an’t got pink.
Kid 1: It doesn’t hurt to ask…
Kid 2: Can I get a green.
Me: Happy Halloween! Pick a color. I have black, blue, and red.
Kid 1 (6 or 7): Oh my god thank you, I don’t care about the color…dad dad dad look he has fidget spinners.
Dad (???) Yo, can i get some for the kids who stayed home… like 5?
Unfortunately I didn’t hear back from meh about my 5 bad ones (after cannibalizing), 2 missing, about whether they’d send me 7 more, and don’t want to risk giving out 7 I’d need for family so now I am out of them, kids were thrilled and it is raining here fairly hard. I guess that is a good thing as I’d hate other kids telling what they got at my house only to get here and find I only had Twix and M&M’s now. This is a lower income neighborhood for the most part and two parents commented to me that their kids had been begging for them for months. Makes me wish I had had an extra $20 to buy more of them for halloween. Made it fun giving them out.
I would have had no problem giving out 150 of these. I just ran out of candy and it started raining but there are still hundreds of kids on our street.
Word traveled fast–
50 fidget spinners gone quick! The shrieking running away from the house was priceless… “OMG OMG!! A FIDGET SPINNER!!!” When I finally ran out, I asked if anyone liked candy corn… Those poor souls that answered yes got 18.5oz of Corn…
…and the one 4-5yr old girl… Looked a little young for a spinner, so handed her some candy, she turns back towards the road and says to her dad, disappointed: “I got candy.” Feeling like a jerk, I called her back to the house and she got a spinner too.
…although reading the forum comments about the failure rates of these things, I’m worried I should have tested them first… Might wake up to an egging or TP for kids that got a defective one.
I opened and tested two when they arrived, one had one pod that wouldn’t light up and one had the center piece fall out but it went together fine when I pressed it back in. They’re free fidget spinners, kids better just stay happy about it lol
@caffeineguy that might be the benefit of handing them out sans box. No light up expectations, only gleeful surprise… "Look dad, they have lights too!"
@caffeineguy I have a built in bias here, but I did test mine and all 150 worked. A few were touchy, but worked once out of the package. So they got put back in the box and handed out.
Perhaps I just have the luck of the warehouse gremlins on my side. (To be clear, the gremlins live in the warehouse and decide who gets packages that do or do not have complete, working products.)
@Thumperchick Maybe you had the ones with the coveted batteries? Maybe they worked better? None of mine were the “good batteries” and I had a lot of non-working lights (15 to be exact), which I then swapped out so only ended up with 5 that were dead and of that several didn’t spin, one was missing a piece. And I only got 48 to begin with.
Happy story here, too. Box arrived about 4 hrs before dark, just in time! 50 gone in a flash [snicker]. Kids reached past the full sized candy bars to get the color of they wanted, then ran off without the chocolate while screaming to other kids that we had spinners. I could have given out 100. Fun!
@BillThePoet Thanks again for the lights and the stickers and things. You’re the best! Stop by once in a while. You’ll see a lot of familiar Wooters here.
Welp, USPS apparently f**ked up. They’re listed as “out for delivery at 7:45am” but it’s 11 hours later and delivery is still “pending.” I guess tomorrow I’m going to be the proud new owner of 50 crappy spinners…
Aw man, even worse: apparently USPS snuck in and delivered mail at 7pm for some reason and I didn’t see them come by. The spinners were sitting in the stupid package box while I was shoveling candy at all the little jerks! Now I’m the proud new owner of 50 crappy spinners tonight, instead of tomorrow.
The first two black ones I tested had a defective light module in each, so I did the ol’ swaparoo to make one working unit to give away, and opened a red one for myself. 47 to go…
A subtle point for those folks testing their spinners and lights…
It would appear their original orientation in their packages is intentional. To minimize accidental activation of the lights. The light face (button side) should face down, away from the flexible, thin, clear plastic window, toward the stiffer cardboard back.
So whilst the quality and consistency of the bearings in the batch of 20 spinners I received varies dramatically, they all spin almost freely, Reds included.
And out of 60 LED light pods (180 surface mounted LEDs), 100% of them work.
The only defect? One of 60 CR2025 batteries is dead as the penny I used to push it out to swap in a good CR2025.
Those of you who got spinners with pods that won’t light up might want to open it and check that the battery is correctly centered. The first one I tested had a dead pod so I figured I might as well take a look and see if I had the right battery around. It turns out the battery just slid out of position and wasn’t making contact with the pad on the circuit board. As soon as I slid it into the proper position, it worked perfectly.
@kuoh it would appear you got a batch with the crappy CR1220 batteries. Your circuit board/battery holders are quite different from the CR2025 battery batch I received.
Also, your IC chip is covered with goop whilst the CR2025 version chip is exposed.
@RedOak Yup, I expect the pods will die quicker with the smaller batteries. Still, can’t complain too much given the price.
Had a few trick or treaters tonight and every one that I gave the option of a spinner or candy choose the spinners almost immediately. Hopefully all those worked ok.
@Kidsandliz In that case, it’s possible the battery was dead or the metal bracket was too loose, which could also explain why the battery slid out of position. If you still feel like troubleshooting it, you could try taking the battery out, then push the center of the battery bracket down slightly, forcing it to put more pressure on the battery, thereby making a better contact. You should also take the opportunity to measure the battery while it’s out. If it’s still good, the voltage should read slightly above 3 volts.
@kuoh Thanks for the suggestios. If you push on them they should turn on if they are in the right place (messed with that) I’d think. To stay on (if they initially flashed) maybe they’d need the bracket adjusted. I have nothing to measure voltage as all my tools were stolen and I have more basic things to replace first.
Gave away 50 in like 5 minutes. One kid ran out on to the street holding it up yelling FIDGET SPINNERS! and then I had a real Lord of the Flies type situation happen.
I gave out about 70 of my 150, but I was told over and over that I was the coolest house EVAR!!!11!!1!!11!!! by trick or treaters… Guess I’ve got enough left over for next year too!
@Dave and crew- looks like you had a lot of happy customers and that you were right about the delivery- seems like most of us got them before or on the big day.
/giphy nice job!
Got them on Halloween & they were the treat of preference over chocolate or giant pixie sticks! Should have gotten 2x50! I hope it repeats so I can donate them to the local family shelter for Christmas.
Use the correct tools (this makes all the difference) to pry the two halves apart.
Once open, remove and discard the Halls cough drop. (this is not needed)
Look under the circuit board to expose the battery and the dime that was added for weight. Set the dime aside as it is not needed and you can spend it like real money later.
You’ll likely find your battery is off-center and the crappy CR1220 style. Slide it all the way out to reseat it and prepare a foil Hershey’s kiss wrapper to go around the circuit board. (off-brand candy may also work)
Replace the battery (make sure it’s centered under the metal contact) and wrap the entire board in the foil wrapper before returning it to the plastic disc.
Snap the disc halves together and return the disc to the spinner frame. Then test.
Still doesn’t work?… SNAP IT TO A SLIM JIM! You’ve earned it.
@RiotDemon I doubt that replicate dimes would be worth three cents and I wouldn’t want to cheat you. However, @mflassy, a purple paper clip – wow, that’s something I’d have to think about.
@Trinityscrew Tell support. They are sending me replacements for my broken ones. If I am lucky they won’t be the red ones with the inferior battery (lots of us with the trash battery had problems, reds had trouble spinning). You can push out the white disks (they push out one direction easier than the other) to cannibalize them to make working ones. I did that ended up with fewer broken that way (I also had some that didn’t spin).
OK, I was out of town last week. My daughter handed out about 20 spinners on Halloween after testing them. I just tested the remainder and out of 50 there were maybe 15 that had issues.
Two had bearing problems- one just needed a little pounding with a screwdriver and hammer.
One was missing a cap- now it has a new splash of color.
I found that most of the lights that weren’t working were fine after taking them apart and fussing with them- moving batteries and pushing the switch a bunch of times. Two had loose brackets that just needed bending back into place. One with a hair trigger donated its battery.
This is what I had left over:
Not bad at all. I also had an extra box. That will drive me nuts.
Handed out somewhere near half of them so far, only two of which went to Trick-or-Treaters sadly (only two who came by) and only a few duds. One had a rusty bearing and kept locking up, others have dead lights here or there, but I’ve only binned maybe two so far due to lack of parts to cobble together complete ones. Not too shabby for being like $0.40 each.
Originally I was missing two. And around 15 were broken in one way or another, which I got down to 5 broken with swapping out parts, I emailed meh. In todays mail I got a box. Instead of just replacing the 7 they sent me two boxes of 18 and some lose ones for a total of 50 more (I had originally bought 50)!!! I certainly wasn’t expecting that. THANKS meh. @dave, @thumperchick, @woodhouse and etc.
One thing I did notice is that these boxes were not one spinner wide of my original order but 2 spinners wide. Haven’t pried a light open yet but the reds so far are spinning fine (unlike the other ones) and I think might be the other (better) battery as the push in things fit just a tad differently too. In either case now I have a ton of them. I will save give the “extras” (eg above my original order) to whatever christmas for families program exists around here. That should make a bunch of kids happy.
Local news story today about a 5 year old boy that swallowed one of the boards with the battery. He has a disability and does often put stuff in his mouth. He will be ok because they caught it early. The family wanted the story out to warn other parents of the batteries in anything. Scary, be careful if your kids have these! Weird twist to the story, he got the spinner for Halloween. I did not hand any out but I wonder if another member did?
@speediedelivery The ones I got in the first mailing, in the long cardboard boxes are harder to get out than the ones that just came in the squarer (eg 2 fidgets wide vs 1) boxes.
@sammydog01 Woo Hoo! score! I didn’t order any more because of the uncertainty of what I might receive. My box of 20 CR2025 powered ones were damn near perfect. (1 green LED in 1 pod defective)
Yep, there’s all the paranoia about light up spinners testing positive for more lead than is safe for kids, I’m assuming on the bearings and/or inner blinky bits, which is what I was concerned about.
@Lollerskates These are rated for kids over 7 I think so they probably won’t chew on them. Why would lead be an issue? And isn’t solder normally lead? Maybe not anymore. I bet the battery is a bigger hazard.
I had about 20 left over from Halloween and ordered 100 more from Morningsave for donations. I took a case to the pediatric orthopedist’s office today and they put them in the prize closet. The rest of them are going next visit. I bet the kids will like them.
I got 48 from MorningSave, and am testing them all. They’re going into stockings for kids in foster care; the church does an Angel Tree, but this year I’m not signing up. They will be screened to make sure only age 7 and over get them.
Any one have 20 or more left over I could trade for some other Meh product I have? I need the blinking modules for a party. It is a Borg themed party. Guests get to make their own Borg body add-ons.
My mistake was showing my wife that they were still available on Morning Save, but not buying them immediately. They are now sold out.
@sammydog01 The party will be at a science fiction convention, Confusion, January 18 - 21, 2018. Confusionsf.org It will be in the Novi Sheraton in Novi Michigan.
My profile says hamjudo is a hardcore meh fiend having placed 87 orders, clicked the meh button 1217 times, and voted in 312 polls.
I foolishly posted this when I was away from my horde of stuff I bought and haven’t opened. I will post that list when I get home. In the meantime, I have some Meh items that I enhanced.
I made some of the World’s Simplest Electric Train sets from this video These are one of the few uses for Meh leaky AAA batteries. The train sucks a battery dry in less than 10 minutes, so they don’t have time to leak in use.

Maybe I just give these out instead of candy. Meh.
@Kross If they could guarantee delivery by the Oct 28th, I’d bite.
@Kross I just bought 150 with that in mind…hoping for delivery in time!
@cbilyak If they don’t arrive in time, there’s always next year, assuming anyone remembers what fidget spinners are then.
@Kross That was my plan, but still not shipped as of 10/26
@Kross two weeks to ship these things? that’s ridiculous. my order on 10/20 not arriving until 11/2. useless after halloween
@rtjhnstn They arrived today, just in time to pass out!
@Kross mine are scheduled for delivery tomorrow…hopefully before the little beggars start knocking on my door! And hopefully not delayed for any reason.
@Kross Mine came just hours before the trick-or-treaters. Got 50. 47 gone already. We’re popular.
Ugh
I have no reason to buy one, so why do I want a 50 pack?
@paulg1982 I heard that!!
I don’t know if you are doing it to mess with us or not, but when I ordered 10 it said 50 in the on screen summary. In orders it does show 10… so if it’s on purpose… YOU GOT ME
@thismyusername I think that is just because the 50 pack image is the first image. It got me too.
@thismyusername From what I can tell, you placed two orders - one for 20 and one for 50. Check meh.com/orders if you need to cancel one of those.
@kathyl Thanks for catching that, I just updated the item photos (though they’re pretty small so it’s still a bit hard to tell).
@dave naw i went back after and switched it to 50… thanks for lookin’ out though!
I mean… 50 for 20… I just couldn’t pass it up… perhaps the order summary trick did the job
Fidget spinners have been found abandoned in piles of forgotten toys around here. No thanks.
@shortman did you need a meh buyer to contact you?
No deal unless these also come with an orange-and-white conic confection.
@lljk Amen!
I don’t know…my daughter must be able to make some interesting art project with these…i’m in!
I always give away full-sized Hershey bars. This year I’ll offer the choice. It’ll be interesting to see which one the kids pick.

@dave Might want to look at that delivery date…
@dave you’re also offering entire bags of candy corn, right? You should.
@Pufferfishy If they don’t make it by 10/31/17 I’ll be very prepared for 10/31/18
@dave RemindMe! 12 days “Be sure to follow up with the results!”
@dave …or stuffing a LOT of stocking in a couple months…
Kid:RUNS
@dave I say Hershey bar wins, 15-1.
That face fooled me- I thought it was spinning because it didn’t register.
Best Meh click ever!
@Pantheist same - about 1/3 of the time the meh face spins because my click hasn’t stuck, so i had to refresh the page a few times before i reached “oh, i see what you did there…”
@jerk_nugget Haha I refreshed it once then stared for a good 30 seconds.
@Pantheist did it spin backwards for you?
@shawn It did. That really should have been the first clue.
Damn. I wish there were another option, like 10 for 5 bucks. I’d give a few of these as stocking stuffers, but 20 seems unlikely.
@gertiestn Give a twofer in each stocking. Excess inventory problem solved.
@gertiestn not sure if you brave the Walmart but I saw racks at mine last nigh where they were .50 a piece.
@intenseNERD wow you guys got a deal, our walmart has one of the “dvd bin” things full of them… 2 weeks ago they were 4.50, then they were 3.00… yesterday I saw they were down to 2.50…
My family is going to get so many fidget spinners for Christmas.
@CptTritium I know, right? Wrap 3 different boxes in different shapes for the same person with a different number is spinners inside! “3 gifts?! You shouldn’t have!”
@CptTritium Every kid I see is getting one of these damn things. Meh “saved” Christmas!
@medz No. Really. You shouldn’t have!
In for 50, I have a lot of fidgeting and spinning to do
150 Batteries for $20. Hmm…not bad.
@Shawn999 Except they are probably crap batteries.
@Shawn999 and 50 high performance bearings. The one my son got at a party has ABEC 9 608’s. I dont expect these to have 9’s, though
@Shawn999 You are assuming that all the batteries aren’t dead already.
Not really.
@RedOak I dunno… An air compressor, some Tygon tubing, double sided tape and a board sounds like a quick start for dumb shit…
@RedOak I dunno… Take out all the batteries and stack them together to get a 450 volts battery?
@uwacn I used to do that with 9V batteries when I was a kid. Turned out it was a pretty bad idea.
Lol
@rs0212 you wan’t some candy corn ehh? if history repeats itself you should check out Saturdays deal
It would have been a buy if they were going to make it in time for Halloween.
But November 2nd??? HARD pass.
Well done, Meh.

My coworkers will ADORE these! (I work with a bunch of mostly 20somethings in cubicles. Things that light up and move are crack in my office!)
@Jamileigh17 Wow, your office is full of addicts? Wow. Any openings?
@Kerig3 It’s a poorly paid call center, mostly talking to old people. So… yes. The average tenure is 6 months, and that’s with their culture of substance abuse
These are going to go fast
Hate these so much. Bought 50, just to see the look on my teens faces when that’s all they get at Christmas!
Are they made out of plastic or metal?
@Spectracide yes
@Spectracide I am sure if they were metal the write-up would have also mentioned that the recycle value is greater than the cost.
It sold me when I found that they light up, but I never thought about all those batteries!! What kind or size of batteries are they? Can you remove them ?
@mcemanuel CR 2025. You can see it in the pictures.
@mike808 …and in the writeup.
What’s worse for Halloween. These or candy corn?
@gwaki
@gwaki Both, if they taste like candy corn.

I got 50 but I’m very tempted to max out with 150. I just don’t think I know enough kids to give them to…
I’m trying to talk myself into/out of it now and hoping it sells out quickly so I don’t have to continue with this torment
@christinerenee Oh, that’s not gonna happen. Betting some lucky person gets a pallet of them on Fuku sometime around year-end.
@christinerenee it’s 500 to max out on this deal… you know, just in case you wanted to
Would have been better if they said “M” or “Meh” on them.
Doesn’t mean I won’t buy a 10 pack and see what the hype is all about.
/giphy cursive-surprised-servant
Take a piece of smooth plywood or hardboard; slick paint surface preferable. Glue the spinners (centers) strategically in a pattern with enough space between them for a puck or disk to pass between by spinning them (alternatively for another spinner to dink its way down between them). Raise board to near vertical. Drop disks or spinners. Spinny lighty pachinko!
@duodec wanna make one for real and document the build/play?

@shawn this is going to be interesting!
Thanks!
Side note:
Had a brain fart when I saw the email this morning. I couldn’t remember ordering these, lol.
@ruouttaurmind Right concept except the board elements spin.
@Thumperchick Sorry, had to work again and didn’t see your post. It would be a couple of weeks before work frees up enough (working weekends again), so I’m looking forward to Riotdemon’s build!
@Riotdemon, go for it!
and
Good luck getting the spacing right! I think its a bit more fiddly than I thought when I wrote the OP…
@duodec @RiotDemon I was thinking along the lines of dowels on the board instead of glue.
@speediedelivery thanks for the idea about the dowels. Once I get them in my hands, I’ll figure out the best way.
@speediedelivery @riotdemon I was thinking (later) that glue or double face tape might not work; it depends on how level the plastic center caps are to the spinner, and how well they would hold on to the bearing.
@duodec hopefully I can figure out a solution that isn’t too expensive.
Good luck!
@duodec @RiotDemon I think you can get sheets of plexiglass or similar at the hardware store. Peg board might help with spacing and layout. I would take a walk through the home improvement section before starting.
@djslack someone was nice enough and sent me a puck. Not sure if it’s going to be heavy enough… Unless I put weights in it.
These will be party favors for my son’s birthday

@TheDagda Oh my God, now I know why I couldn’t remember any of the useful things I did in my youth — there weren’t any. I spent the whole damn time spinning rulers on pencils instead.

I can’t believe how many of these Meh has.
I also can’t believe no one has said “bath” yet.
@djslack i know: its 9:30 ET and they’ve sold almost 2000, with >60% as 50 packs.

Ugh, I don’t know whether to buy 20 or 50. Or more! If you have as many as implied, sleeping on it will do no harm.
If these don’t arrive by halloween so that I can make neighborhood parents rue the day they dragged their evil little spawn across my doorstep, I’m going to have to sit down and really think about what I’m doing with my life now that it has 50 crappy fidget spinners in it
/giphy obscure-destroyed-part
maybe I’ll re-purpose these into trolling rigs or lures
Hmm, no quantity limit. If only I could afford 1,000 of these… I would be UNSTOPPABLE.
In the last two months I’ve bought a bidet, a door mat that says “go away”, and now 100 fidget spinners.
What am I doing with my life.
@Hiz Nothing good.
@Hiz Sorry, I don’t see the pattern yet. Better buy more stuff.
FIDGET SPINNING (#intensifies)
My word i wont even open one , make some kid happy for 40cents , Kids hospital etc random like early Santa the elves left this for you !!!
Hmm… 150 LED spinners. That’s 450 batteries. Only time will tell what I do with these LOL!!
@stuntdriver
If you stack them in a tube, you can make one 1665 volt battery to shock trick or treaters with.
If you create 112 stacks of four and connect them in parallel, you could probably jump start the space shuttle.
The possibilities are endless!
@stuntdriver Stack them all together and you have 1,350 volts.
So DON’T do anything stupid …
@narfcake I don’t plan too. I mean it may be stupid but I will be safe.
@Freedom1958 those are some great ideas! I’m sure it’ll be much less complicated whatever I do.

50 coming my way for and awesome trunk or treat event.
/image jinxed-blushing-window
If I was going to be home on Halloween I would get these to give out.
Usually I give out glow stick or bracelets or whatever. I got a tip, maybe here, to open glow sticks before handing them out for three reasons:
Catch duds. I buy cheap ones, and no kid wants to find out he or she got a dud.
Save Mom the effort of trying to light and connect a glowing necklace at night in the middle of the street.
Keep my yard and the yards of my neighbors free of glow stick wrappers.

@jml326 @speediedelivery Alright I gave in… my boss also said he would buy 1 off me for $2, so 49 for $18 is an even better deal.

@TaRDy That is NOT how you get in good with the boss.
Suggestion: Better spacing or a multiplier or something similar. It almost appears to be 150 for an order of 1 50 pack (thanks, kerning!)
Going to be tossing these in white elephant gifts
Omg the Meh button is crack. Must…watch…till…stops…
Is anyone else having the following issue when attempting to make a purchase - “Let’s try that again. THE BILLING ADDRESS FAILED VALIDATION.” I’ve searched the forums and have tried the following:
I notified @meh via the support form above. I am wondering if I should e-mail them as well? If so, should I e-mail halp@meh.com or help@meh.com? That was kind of unclear in the forums.
@elimanningface I believe it is halp at meh.com, but the support form does the same thing so I wouldn’t double down on contacting them.
There is a #7. Move and get a new address that works for Meh purchases.
@elimanningface only thing you notified me of is this dumb comment.
@djslack thank you! I took your advice and got a response back. Office holiday gift shopping is now complete .
I literally get maybe five trick or treaters a year. But the 50 pack is such a great deal. And I don’t really need or want these, but the temptation to do something crazy with them is high. Must think about this, I may need them.
No idea what I’d do with even one fidget spinner, but OTOH, these are the same batteries that go in my Fitbit Zip, so hmmm…
I wonder if there is a way to attach them to a Christmas tree?

Yes definitely
I will indeed be passing these out at Halloween. Thanks, meh!
Of course, I paid a lot more their one vs. the price for 50 of these…
We don’t get many kids in my area for Halloween, if I remember correctly, and I personally hate light up spinners. Oh well.
Anyone know what size bearing this contains? Does it contain the standard skate 608 sized bearing?
Handy compatibility list from batteries.com:
I’m waiting to see how many states have sales in every count.
@rtjhnstn the last word should be county.
Perfect for Halloween. I wonder if the battery will last till next year?
I am buying 50 of these to hand out at Halloween. I will ask every adult if their child has one, and if they don’t I will give one to said child. This is so every parent, like me, will know the joys of their offspring spinning these things till it’s all they can see in their nightmares. Happy Halloween suckers! @ACraigL I sure hope so. As a teacher and the mother of a 5-year-old, I am so ready for this to be done. That being said, I’m buying the 20 pack.
@ACraigL yes this fad is dying , you can tell because walmart is starting to clearence their spinners out at $3 each
@ACraigL It probably also suggests that most of the batteries in them are dead too.
My kid’s birthday is at the beginning of December. These are the perfect thank-you bag stuffers. Of course, the school already has a no-fidget-spinner ban in place, so the receipt code is perfect:

I can’t justify $5 shipping for a $10 item. And with all the free shipping out there, even on cheap items now on walmart.com, meh has got to revisit their shipping policy. With VMP gone and no replacement, paying 50% of the purchase price on shipping sucks.
@twz buy the 50-pack to amortize the shipping. Hell, buy two. Or ten.
Serious answer: don’t look at it as $5 shipping for a $10 item. Look at it as a $15 20-pack of spinners.
@twz feel free to go to walmart and pay $3-5 each for the fidget spinners
meh.com has a different business model
you pay for shipping but the price is MUCH MUCH lower than walmart
@communist you, therefore, support my point. meh needs to address it’s business model. if the meh shipping charge negates the lower price, it’s not a sustainable model. it may work for more expensive products, but not $10 spinners.
@twz “meh needs to address it’s business model” sez the guy who didn’t just sell 186,530 fidget spinners yesterday
seriously though, we’ll probably have a new subscription program with free shipping benefits in the future. I don’t have a date yet. Maybe early 2018. Hopefully sooner.
@shawn Since the defunct one was Very, will the upcoming one err more towards Extremely Mediocre or towards Somewhat Mediocre?
@shawn … lol, i see the irony of questioning a business model that can sell treMEHndous number of spinners but i still want a new VMP (or EMP or SMP) to help delude me into believing shipping is marginally free.
Kids are about to get a big donation to the “prize buckets” in their classes. I expect riots.

I ordered 20 just for laughs, and then mentioned it to my wife. Based on her input, I canceled the 20, and ordered 100. What madness is this?
@blaineg I ordered zero, then my wife found out and said get 50 of them. Between wife behavior and no circuit breaker for hundreds of thousands of spinners, today feels like Meh bizarro day.
@djslack Apparently we now have Halloween and Christmas sorted. If they get here in time for Halloween.
@blaineg Ya know, I just noticed that the guy in white never moves again after he goes down. His buddy didn’t notice either.
Death by car wash?
$86,000 worth sold? How many do you have?
@ergomeh and prying cash out of our cold hard hands convincing us to hold fidget spinners instead while on the way to the landfill.
@djslack Any way to check prior day sales stats? All I’m seeing is the discussion.
@blaineg I assume the deal page is updated.

@dave I know I always point this out but pricing referenced in the Meh writeup is not consistent with Morningsave pricing in the fidget spinner deal linked above.
@djslack @dave I sent this to support over the weekend. It happens often over there that the writeup mentions the price and it is not updated before posting.
@djslack @dave It also references batteries that these may or may not have.
@djslack @speediedelivery @narfcake Yeah, I think I’ll just cut the write-up for this one. Have to decide if we’ll just do that moving forward, too.
I think it would actually complicate things at this point to change the quantity in the sale, so I’m leaving that as-is.

I guess they didn’t say WHICH Monday. Grr.
@therealjrn This has always been a shady site, but I will always them. Maybe.
@Barney I always thought of them as honest but fallible. But ninja edits on delivery dates kinda piss me off. Come on @dave. If you bit off more than you can chew just admit it. We would understand. At least I and Barney would.
@sammydog01 Uh-uh, not me. I’d hate them.
@Barney Ignore what I said @dave, start running now.
@sammydog01 Yeah, @dave, just throw the responsible party under the bus so we can berate them and then we’ll all move past this.
@medz @sammydog01 I think they were expecting more of them to fall off of the truck than they did.
@Barney I’m envisioning a warehouse incident involving several toppled pallets of candy corn and fidget spinners that has totally log-jammed shipping operations. Now they have all hands-on-deck sorting out the loose candy and spinners that are mixed up and scattered on the floor.
@medz Gawd, I’m glad I didn’t order any.
@medz I would settle for two scoop shovels worth of product then.
LETS GET IT OUT THE DOOR!
@dave Ummm mine still says processing. Just sayin’
@dave So, those of us making an educated guess based on the writeup stating they will be shipped Monday are just out of luck? Thanks.
Mine says still processing.
@Barney I could help you with that forgetting to order problem
An hour ago, processing. Now, email with tracking number. Expected delivery Monday in PA.
@therealjrn that would be an interesting way to sell product. A snow shovels worth, please.
@speediedelivery What would I do with 20 - 50 spinners? I don’t have that many hands.
@Barney are you sure about that?
@RiotDemon Uh, one… two… uh, three… four… five…
@dave Still processing
@dave For the items that were sent out today, you guys should at least change them to the faster delivery option, not the existing surepost.
@RiotDemon six… (six plus one equals seven) seven… eight… eight… eight… nine?
@ccyoun Yeah, like that would ever happen. Haha.
@dave My expected date of delivery is 11/01, which is SIX working days from now on. USPS working on Saturday doesn’t really matter here since it will be still on FedEx’s hands on Saturday.
@Barney You are supposed to order based on how many hands you have? Uh-oh, I may have done this wrong. Can I blame @RiotDemon?
Shipped! OK one day late doesn’t bother me. We’re cool Meh.
@Barney you missed a few in the back.
@speediedelivery Well, that’s the way I thought we were supposed to order them – by the number of hands we have. But now I’m worried that I might have more hands than I thought and maybe I should have have placed an order for at least 20 spinners.
Yep, let’s blame @RiotDemon for this mess.
@Barney muahahaha
@dave sad… no spinners for Halloween EDA 11/2… from history, date is accurate…
@mikibell!!!
Hi.
missed you.
@KDemo
@mikibell
Yeah! Missed you!
Hope you have a little time and energy to hang out her now and then.
@dave please accept my apologies, my packages arrived today!!! Thank you for making good!!!
@mikibell sadly…not many work…
@medz Watch out- you’re going to take the resident curmudgeon position away from @mfladd.
@mikibell Bummer. I have a spinner from Gearbest that only has one light and it works pretty well. Maybe if you can get one working light on each of them?
Shipped. Estimated 30th. Smart post don’t fail me now.
My plinko set is supposed to be here on the 30th. It’ll have to wait until after Halloween to actually turn into something.
You know at 12:15 the other night these sounded awesome but now that they have shipped I can’t imagine why I thought 50 was a good idea…
@chellemonkey Because you have 50 hands and you fidget a lot?
@Barney I may have a few less hands than that…
Ah well, it was a gamble. Scheduled delivery 11/1.
Mine shipped with an estimated delivery 11/2. Often times the date changes and I get my package earlier. I don’t get many trick or treaters, so I’m not worried. I just won’t answer the door on Halloween if the spinners don’t show up by then.
@heartny free eggs and toilet paper!
@thismyusername That’s what I was thinking. I’m running out of TP, so it kind or works out OK.
@heartny If you post your address as a new Mediocre office …
@heartny And it will be pre-unrolled. You normally need a butler for that kind of service.
@sammydog01 Or a cat.
/giphy cat with toilet paper
Mine still doesn’t have an eta. No way it’s going to make it on time…
Friday delivery for me…I get to be the cool guy on the block handing out spinners…

Mine are set to be delivered ON halloween.
Cutting it close, here’s hoping nothing goes wrong.
Due 11/2. I hope I remember where I put them next Halloween.
I bet there are places that take donations for Christmas stockings if all else fails.
@sammydog01 I know many churches do shoeboxes for kids so they always need fun little things
Mine were set to arrive on the 30th, but IT ARRIVED TODAY! That has to be a Meh shipping record.
@Lister
/giphy sorcery!
Mine are set for Monday delivery, but I will probably get them tomorrow or Friday at the latest.
/giphy not worried
Ok, Bruce, probably not tomorrow. But Friday is looking good.
/giphy yippie ki yay motherfucker
Oh, /giphy, you so crazy!
Because I expressed confidence in my delivery date, Smartpost held my shipment up for 27 hours in Dallas to teach me a lesson.
Tomorrow, though. Tomorrow we shall spin!
/giphy it’s happening
(hopefully)
Just got mine. In time for the Halloween party!
@FrancesTaylor “You’ll probably get them by Halloween but we can’t guarantee it.” Sounds pretty uncertain to me.
@FrancesTaylor I’m ok with variable delivery, but “Ship on Monday” kinda sounds like a promise to me.
Mine didn’t ship until Wednesday, and the delivery date is the 1st.
@FrancesTaylor @blaineg Yep, they more or less promised shipping on Monday and then Dave said they had all been shipped on Tuesday.
@Kidsandliz Can you hold your mail Saturday and pick it up Tuesday? (Minimum hold is 3 days)
@Kidsandliz Mine arrived today with a scheduled delivery date of the 30th so I wouldn’t give up hope yet.
@speediedelivery Thanks for the suggestion.
@Lister Based on the last thing I ordered that would be right for the 31st looking at the route traveled and how long in each place. Sigh.
Mine is still listed as "No scheduled delivery date available at this time."
Doesn’t look good for the kids…
/giphy glowing-beneficent-ravioli
@smilingjack fidget spinners being “something good” is a strong assumption. I’m hoping it slows down the flow at my house.
@djslack I like them. But then I still play Pokémon Go.
Mine arrived today. They will be distributed on Halloween.
/giphy joy
@boc
/giphy raining spinners
@medz My joy was short-lived. The very first one I opened (I had to test one of the damn things) is defective. One of the 3 light-pod thingies wouldn’t light up. I took it apart (what fun!) and I was able to get it to work (no dead battery! Yay!) but after putting it all back together it again refuses to light. I am not got to test any more of them but if the first one is any indication these things are shit.
@boc damn it all
@boc Well that sucks big time.
Mine is sitting in TN right now… no projected arrival date.
/giphy sad
MEH! On the FedEX truck with a projected delivery of today!
/giphy thrilled
Well shit… my coworkers saw them come in and helped themselves to 10 of them.
@jml326 They opened the box and everything? you need to talk to @jsh139.
@sammydog01 THIEVES!
/image thieves
@sammydog01 i ordered 100. There was one open box of ten. The shipping box was the manufacturers. It is vague company and i work in a science lab. I think someone was looking to help me put away supplies, saw them, went all adhd on me and played with them.
They are cool people so its not too big a deal.
Mine is in my home state with the hand-off to USPS yet to take place. Plenty of time.
/giphy thrilled
UGH! My order says it’s still processing. Guess I have to go out and buy a big bag of Snickers bars now… Yeah. I eat chocolate to drown my sorrows.
Hey, Meh! It’s a week after the fact and the order is still processing… Cancel & refund please. I was willing to take the chance if they shipped on the 23rd, but now there’s just no way they’d be here in time for 10/31…
@andrewkl I don’t think you’re going to get an answer or solution from posting this under the forums …
@narfcake I heard from Thomas, and I’ll be egging Snapsters house for not shipping my order.
@andrewkl
/giphy bummer
@andrewkl Considering that the headquarters got toilet papered before, why not?
Meh… mine has been delayed to Nov. 2nd now. Leaving in the cold New England area. I had a bit of hope getting a day earlier when the ETA was Nov. 1st, but now that hope is gone.
Woot! Tracking eta was never published but just got notice of delivery! Will have happy kids!
Now I’m getting 10/31 by end of day for delivery. What exactly is “end of day” In time for trick or treat or just a few hours late?
@smilingjack What time does the mail come?
@sammydog01 Mail would work. UPS would be anytime.
@smilingjack UPS? What do you think this is, Amazon? Smartpost hands off the package to the USPS to deliver. At least they do that with mine. Then the mail carrier drops it in the marigold bed next to the mail box. It think he’s getting sick of my Meh purchases.
Woo Hoo! Mine was 30th, then 31st, now tomorrow as it is in town at my post office! Yea!
Estimated delivery was Nov 2, then Nov 3, now it says end of day Oct 31!
Mine is out for delivery!
@therealjrn mine too!
/giphy squeee
I could tell my sister, who has never seen a flashlight she hasn’t wanted, that these are flashlights in disguise since they light up (grin).
meant to say 18 not 16 to a box. I can’t type any better than the warehouse people can count. LOL
Looking what the Great Pumpkin brought!
Now @dave, why didn’t you sell these is multiples of 18, which is carton quantity (and save the poor shippers the counting)?
@ManBehindPlan You are not the first person to ask me this question. The answer is they didn’t tell me how they were packed before they arrived.
@dave lesson learned?
@RiotDemon @ManBehindPlan It’s also tricky because I don’t know that 18 & 54 sound as good as 20 and 50.
@dave if you let them know that’s the carton quantity, I think people would understand. The amount of time counting to ship… Must be extreme.
@dave 54 sounds better than 50. But 18 does not sound nearly as good as 20.
How about offering 36 or 54? That sounds pretty boss, pretty frickin’ awesome.
@Kidsandliz they’re obviously the same person that only packed one blanket instead of three in that blanket/candy corn bundle.
@RiotDemon Yeah you are probably right about that.
Delivered in PA today.
The red ones don’t seem to spin as smoothly or as long as the black and blue ones… no idea why… maybe just a bad sample I grabbed.
pretty decent for the price I guess. thanks meh.
@thismyusername “pretty decent for the price I guess” is my ultimate goal for everything we sell
@thismyusername Interesting; I only looked at the two loose ones in my order, red and blue, and my experience matched yours; the blue one is slick as snot and spins a good 20 seconds longer than the red one, which rattles, and the bearing hub has a lot of play.
Chinese bearings. What you gonna do.
DAMMIT @DAVE!
These pieces of shit didn’t come with useful CR2025 batteries. They came with infinitely less useful CR1220 batteries. Now what am I supposed to do with them?!
I can’t even think of what to do with 50 non-shielded 625 single-row bearings now.
@narfcake you could ship the spinners to me
@narfcake
/giphy hide
@narfcake give them out on halloween?
@narfcake You can send me the LED discs!
@narfcake You could use the extra batteries to keep one spinner going almost forever.
/giphy spinning forever
@narfcake Ahh crap… So here’s how that went down – we received samples of the inventory which contained CR2025 batteries. Naturally, we expected all units to have CR2025 batteries.
Come to find out today, we were sent two types of spinners with the same model number and same retail packaging. All units look and function the same, but I guess the manufacturer switched up the battery & led board combo mid-production. SHUCKS! Sorry, @narfcake and anyone else who got CR1220 batteries and were expecting CR2025.
@troy This deal just gets worse and worse…
@troy Yeah, it makes the ability to use the batteries in less spinny things infinitely worse.
Tell @snapster to sell some and all will be forgiven. Knowing you folks, though, you’d sooner just send out another box of these for me to deal with.
@narfcake My one pod with the failed green light had a CR2025 in it.
@narfcake well that does suck. Had never even heard of a CR1220. CR2025s and CR2032s, on the other hand, have lots of uses.
@Tin_Foil
@Tin_Foil Good luck to ya. My two outside the box were fine, and so far I have not run across any duds in the 18.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@therealjrn @Tin_Foil I guess I need to test all of mine before halloween as over half are christmas presents, 6 go to students who won them and the rest were being disposed of for halloween.
Sigh.
@thumperchick, @dave @woodhouse @??? is there anyway I can trade in the non-working ones for blue and black that, so far, all seem to work?
First one I open none of the lights worked. Next 4 did.
@medz Trade out the lights if you get ones like I had where 1 light was out and the other two worked. I had 10 “broken” red ones (lights out). Down to 4 that also don’t spin (and have some lights out too). And of course missing 2. Still working on testing the black and blue ones.
Rats some blue ones have lights out too… running out of replacement lights.
…and some black ones have lights out. At least all the blue and black spin.
@Kidsandliz I was led to believe the batteries could be used in other devices. No so if half of them arrive dead.
@medz I’m glad I changed my order to 50. Now I can hand out maybe 30. If they come on time.
@medz Even the undead batteries won’t be too helpful. Not many devices use 1220 batteries.
@sammydog01 Out of my box of 18 + 2 loose, all spun, and only 1 green LED didn’t work on one pod. Yay!
Ummm…it looks like I owe you guys a big apology. The spinners just arrived!!! An entire day before I need them!!! Thank you!
@smilingjack Mine are scheduled to come tomorrow afternoon, minutes before I need them.
/giphy score
@sammydog01 They came a day early!
Has anyone been able to tell what type of IC is inside the LED disc? Can these puppies be reprogrammed?
@Willijs3 No idea, but if I had to guess, it’d be something along the lines of this SN3101 …
http://www.si-en.com/product.asp?pid=1644
… which is a write-once design.
@smilingjack thanks, I know I can swap them. I’m just glad I wasn’t giving these away… So many duds individually.
This goes right along with the Built NY Assorted Bundle - almost wishing I’d bought 100!
@ilovereality Did you play with the lights? I have one I think is the same and the slowest setting is really cool. But then I’m easy to entertain.
/giphy pretty lights
@sammydog01 while I was playing with them earlier, I actually liked using a different setting for each light.
For any wondering how long the batteries last… I have left one running for 48 hours and while it has lost some of the intensity it is still flashing away, if it was being used to draw attention to someone it would still be effective but it is not lighting up the room anymore.
@thismyusername thank you. I no longer have to sacrifice one of my exceedingly rare CR1220 batteries to perform the same test.
@Trillian Too late, you just shot all your luck on these fidgets.
@Barney Dammit, I should have saved some of that luck so that I could finally win a Kroger contest.
@Trillian You cheated with bribes (joking of course, I hope nobody would take it serious but…)
@speediedelivery So we should all send vodka?
@sammydog01 I think so. I am getting my box this morning. I was excited about getting them but then was reading the thread. I am not planning to hand them out tonight so I was not worried if they came late.
@Trillian the 2025s must be a newer batch. All the lights I opened to attempt to fix had the smaller batteries. My red spinners that don’t work had rusted bearings and the boards that didn’t work had rusted battery holders. I’m assuming they sat in a humid warehouse, or they got wet before packaging.
@Trillian How did you get the little light open - is it re-sealable afterwards? I’d like to try to fix some of them that aren’t blinking reliably.
@rprussell I used my teeth. I suppose you could use pliers. I just bit down on the middle of the skinny side, rotating it a couple of times to squeeze them apart.
Don’t use a knife. I almost sliced my finger open.
They go back together just fine.
@rprussell Just drop them. That’s what one of the neighborhood kids has done already, before he even got off of our porch.
@blaineg @RiotDemon I have found the main problem with the ones that don’t stay lit is simply that the battery comes loose from its holder.
Go figure, spinning at high speeds it gets pulled off-center…
@rprussell Maybe with the good batteries that might be it. With the bad ones, which is in all the ones I got, I fiddled with the placement and nothing happened. The one thing I didn’t try was to sub the battery out in a working one to see if it is the battery or the circuit.
@Kidsandliz Interesting. I didn’t realize there were two kinds of batteries - mine says “CR1220” on it, so after a bit of reading I see those are the “bad” ones too.
They’re up for sale on Morningsave you procrastinators!
https://morningsave.com/deals/20-pack-or-50-pack-led-fidget-spinners
Arrived! First one out of the box had only 2/3 lights working though. Gonna be some 2/3 disappointed trick-or-treaters tonight, I think.
OH WELL, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Got mine!
The one I tested works so 100% success rate.
Not sure if I’ll keep or give out in daughter’s b-day gift bag.
I am now a neighborhood hero! I just ordered more on Morningsave. I hope it works out. I only had 4 totally broken ones out of the 50.
@smilingjack I ordered another box too- planning on donating them. VMP was worth it this month.
/giphy spinners
They are a major hit! I should’ve bought more!!
So far of 25 kids, 24 have picked fidget spinners.
@djslack all gone a few minutes ago. Kids running to the street yelling “I GOT A FIDGET SPINNER!” happened multiple times.
Also a few “best house ever” comments. And this is with no decorations in a neighborhood where there are several haunted porches and lawns done up very big.
@djslack Yeah - I have only had one pick candy. I don’t get all that many kids though.
One kid: “Did you buy all these?”
I could not come up with a kid friendly smartass response quick enough, so I had to just say “yeah”.
@djslack “Mister, you must be rich!”
@RedOak I spent more on candy than on a box of 50 spinners.
@sammydog01 that was a quote from the kid.
We grabbed 150 and are already tapped out. It was worth hearing 150 kids get excited.
Gave out all 90 while trick or treating. Biggly successful. Sorry to the parents of Baltimore’s youth.
@jml326 I want an orange one. Do you have an orange one?
@jml326 I want purple. Waaaah!
@Barney Krylon
@Barney if you stack the red and blue ones just right and…
We are the best house ever. Multiple kids said so tonight so it must be true.
@Lister Us too! I only wish I could see their disappointment when half of them don’t work! Given about 20 out so far.
Well knock me over with a feather! The delivery date was Nov 2nd, and they got here today.
It’s still daylight, and only a double handful of kids so far, but they are all delighted with them.
@blaineg I’d given up hope when they spent four days in the local FedEx depot. They only escaped at midnight.
Got 50. 48 of them worked. 47 given out to kids. Very happy kids. Kids who took a spinner and did not wait around for candy.
@caffeineguy HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :WHEEZE: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
@caffeineguy I wonder which kids were happiest? That’s a lot of candy corn.
…and the one 4-5yr old girl… Looked a little young for a spinner, so handed her some candy, she turns back towards the road and says to her dad, disappointed: “I got candy.” Feeling like a jerk, I called her back to the house and she got a spinner too.
@caffeineguy Sadly, she choked on the pop-out LED button later that night. RIP, little girl. Now you’re spinning fidgets in heaven.
Edit: I was indiscriminate with handing out our 45 spinners. I’ll let their parents decide.
@medz The box has a clear age/choking hazard warning. I’m sure the parents can figure it out.
At least, that’s the logic I used when handing ours out.
@Thumperchick I told parents of younger kids and let them decide.
…although reading the forum comments about the failure rates of these things, I’m worried I should have tested them first… Might wake up to an egging or TP for kids that got a defective one.
@caffeineguy
/giphy ain’t nobody got time for that
I opened and tested two when they arrived, one had one pod that wouldn’t light up and one had the center piece fall out but it went together fine when I pressed it back in.
Fun!
@BillThePoet Nice! Now you have full sized candy bars for lunch for a month!
Your name sounds familiar- did you send me some Woot-off lights and other cool stuff once?
@sammydog01 Wow, small world. That’s me.
@BillThePoet Thanks again for the lights and the stickers and things. You’re the best! Stop by once in a while. You’ll see a lot of familiar Wooters here.
@sammydog01 Smiley Face Thingy
Welp, USPS apparently f**ked up. They’re listed as “out for delivery at 7:45am” but it’s 11 hours later and delivery is still “pending.” I guess tomorrow I’m going to be the proud new owner of 50 crappy spinners…
@jiltant
/giphy stupid USPS
Aw man, even worse: apparently USPS snuck in and delivered mail at 7pm for some reason and I didn’t see them come by. The spinners were sitting in the stupid package box while I was shoveling candy at all the little jerks! Now I’m the proud new owner of 50 crappy spinners tonight, instead of tomorrow.
The first two black ones I tested had a defective light module in each, so I did the ol’ swaparoo to make one working unit to give away, and opened a red one for myself. 47 to go…
/giphy fidget spinner
@RedOak the 2025s must definitely be the newer/better batch.
KuoH
@kuoh Nice!
KuoH
I’m currently on an old tablet so apologies for the crappy, zoomed in photos - the CR2025 version…
@kuoh Kids these days have an attention span of 3 minutes so as long as the batteries last more than that you’re good.
@kuoh I had tried moving mine around too since they have space to slide. That didn’t make any difference in mine.
KuoH
@kuoh Thanks for the suggestios. If you push on them they should turn on if they are in the right place (messed with that) I’d think. To stay on (if they initially flashed) maybe they’d need the bracket adjusted. I have nothing to measure voltage as all my tools were stolen and I have more basic things to replace first.
Gave away 50 in like 5 minutes. One kid ran out on to the street holding it up yelling FIDGET SPINNERS! and then I had a real Lord of the Flies type situation happen.
@Nolabrew I would like a video of that.
@mrbillmc
I’m doing the same.
https://morningsave.com/deals/20-pack-or-50-pack-led-fidget-spinners
@sammydog01 I think my wife would file for divorce if 50 more showed up.
@medz Ship to work!
@jml326 The wife?!
@zachhh
/giphy shrug
If yours aren’t lighting-up, try these steps:
@medz what? Dimes?
@medz Mwahahaha! Well played!
@RiotDemon I know- is there really $.30 in actual currency in each spinner?
@narfcake @medz All of my spinners came with dimes that looked like this:
Too bad, guess I’ll have to trash them.
@Barney Even as replicas, they’ll probably still work in vending machines. Worth a shot!
@sammydog01 Probably not. I wouldn’t waste your time if I were you.
@medz Ah ha! I knew it, you are an ol’ softie.
@Barney I’ll pay you three current cents for each dime.
@Barney
I’ll give you a purple paper clip for each of those outdated dimes.
@RiotDemon I doubt that replicate dimes would be worth three cents and I wouldn’t want to cheat you. However, @mflassy, a purple paper clip – wow, that’s something I’d have to think about.
@Barney What’s your goal for that paperclip?
@narfcake @Barney
I’m offering one purple paper clip for EACH outdated dime.
@narfcake Oh, no! Now I have to set a goal? Nooooooo…
@mflassy I could be a very wealthy purple paper clip woman?
They suck. A lot of mine are broken.
@Kidsandliz I had a blue one with trash batteries
@medz Did yours all have the same size battery or are they mixed up in the cases?
@sammydog01 hell if I know. Only opened the broken one. It was from the loose pack. You’ll have to ask the neighborhood kids about the others
@medz So did I but I had more bad red ones. Mine were all the shit batteries.
@Trinityscrew If you write in to us, we’ll come up with a creative way to satiate you
OK, I was out of town last week.
@sammydog01
:snicker:
@therealjrn Who doesn’t need a little pounding now and then?
Got mine delivered just in time for Halloween. Kids were so excited.
I did not hand any out but I wonder if another member did?
http://www.erienewsnow.com/story/36800563/erie-child-who-swallowed-fidget-spinner-battery-recovering-in-pittsburgh-hospital
@speediedelivery oh no! How did he get the disc apart? Mine were tough to open.
@medz Story did not say. Kid told 8yo sister that he swallowed it while holding the two pieces in his hands.
Listening closer, he has been in the hospital for about a month so that would have been too early for us. Maybe other brands are easy to get apart.
@speediedelivery The ones I got in the first mailing, in the long cardboard boxes are harder to get out than the ones that just came in the squarer (eg 2 fidgets wide vs 1) boxes.
wife is teacher, gave to students as gift. Now other teachers want some. Any left??
@generaladjuster they had some over at the meh encore at morning save, but they are gone now…
I ordered 100 from Morningsave for donations and it looks like most of them have the CR2025 batteries. (I have just spot checked so far.)
@sammydog01 Woo Hoo! score! I didn’t order any more because of the uncertainty of what I might receive. My box of 20 CR2025 powered ones were damn near perfect. (1 green LED in 1 pod defective)
Has anyone tested these for lead?
@Lollerskates They’re made out of plastic.
@therealjrn the bearings are metal, but you don’t normally touch those.
Yep, there’s all the paranoia about light up spinners testing positive for more lead than is safe for kids, I’m assuming on the bearings and/or inner blinky bits, which is what I was concerned about.
@Lollerskates How many did you buy?
@therealjrn Fifty.
@Lollerskates Are they all gone?
@Lollerskates These are rated for kids over 7 I think so they probably won’t chew on them. Why would lead be an issue? And isn’t solder normally lead? Maybe not anymore. I bet the battery is a bigger hazard.
@Lollerskates It looks like the recalled spinners with the lead content are metal ones.
@speediedelivery I saw those, but also some other test that mentioned all of the light-up ones, got me all paranoid.
@sammydog01 for plumbing they use lead free solder.
There’s been a lot of problems that the paint from China contains lead.
@Lollerskates So you have given them all away? What precautions have you deployed to avoid the inevitable lawsuits?
@RiotDemon For plumbing of course but I think circuit boards have lead in them. I used to do stained glass- that was lead solder.
@Lollerskates I found a reference on Snopes:
https://www.snopes.com/fidget-spinners-unsafe-lead/
I had about 20 left over from Halloween and ordered 100 more from Morningsave for donations. I took a case to the pediatric orthopedist’s office today and they put them in the prize closet. The rest of them are going next visit. I bet the kids will like them.
I got 48 from MorningSave, and am testing them all. They’re going into stockings for kids in foster care; the church does an Angel Tree, but this year I’m not signing up. They will be screened to make sure only age 7 and over get them.
@OldCatLady All of my second shipment except for the loose ones appear to be the newer model with the bigger battery. I’m not bothering to check them.
@sammydog01 I squeeze them while they’re in the box. So far, so good.
@hamjudo whatcha got for trade?
@hamjudo I might. When is the party?
@sammydog01 The party will be at a science fiction convention, Confusion, January 18 - 21, 2018. Confusionsf.org It will be in the Novi Sheraton in Novi Michigan.
@hamjudo I’ll check when i get a chance.
@andrewkl
@hamjudo I found about 25. Remind me after Christmas when I’m less flustered.
No problems with this order. Never received the CBD gummies!
@Askbart glad you had no issues with your 2017 order.
@Askbart Did you check your order history? Your profile says you have only placed 1 order ever.
