Got them last time when they were two bucks cheaper. They must have sold faster than they expected.
The right angle/flat plug is handy in some situations but a problem when the receptacle is in a congested space. The wire comes off at an angle (parallel to the wall), not at 90 degrees.
The flexible goose neck portion is stiffer than expected.
Overall pretty decent and a handy intermediate length.
@RedOak I bought these last time, just unwrapped one for use at work the other day and the stiffness surprised me too. Then again, I have it on my desk, with the outlets sticking up from a circle made of the tail end of the gooseneck, and it’s holding up the power bricks of two Macbooks with no problem (I wanted them on my desk rather than on the wall or floor because my new job has lifting desks for everyone, and it’s easier to keep track of length/placement of one cord than two or three, plus it’s easier to grab the brick off the desktop than to reach behind or under). You’d also want that kind of stiffness if the goal is to wrap around something and stay tight and stable, which after all was the design goal here.
For what it is, yeah, I’d say it’s probably worth $7 or $8 apiece. $9 though, that’d be a dealbreaker! FIGHT FOR $8!
This is the first item to make me downright angry. I think it’s the ratio of price : complete absurdity. When do you need your outlets hovering above the ground? During a flood? smh
@pajamma while this deal isn’t of use to me, i can think of several instances where you might not want (or might not be able) to crawl around on the ground and/or reach down behind/under furniture etc to find an outlet.
@jerk_nugget seriously, I wrapped mine around the leg of my workbench. Now I have convenient power without taking up work space with a strip. Haven’t found a good use for the second one yet.
still love the quirky brand, still love bright yellow, still not buying these. talk to me when you’ve dug up some of the pod power cords or the pivot strips.
i did however very much like the tears for fears inspired poetry slam in this morning’s email.
I had great luck with the last set. I plugged one behind the playpen and ran it up a leg for phone charging; the other is peeking headfirst between the box spring and mattress on my side of the bed. In both cases I did not need the outlet behind the furniture but it’s been awesome to have them back as an option to plug in a stray vacuum or charger. I wish they had USB In for 2 more! (Behind the washer and behind the recliner.)
@versabox I think Meh probably shot themselves in the foot with the $2 increase. It is probably is hurting sales more than the money it is bringing in, but if I were so smart, I’d be running daily deal site. /shrug
I bought two sets last time so I’m all set on these. But really, a dollar more apiece isn’t that huge of a deal-breaker to me if I wanted more.
@therealjrn Pricing is a bit of an art. (I did Product and Pricing configuration for an auto company for many years.) I’m not sure I would have bought these cords last time if they had been 2 bucks more.
So while sales this time with about an hour and a half to go are 1/3 last time, it is hard to discern how much of that slower travel rate is due to the higher price vs. approaching sales saturation of mehtizens due to a second round less than 2 months later.
@RedOak don’t forget weekday vs weekend conditions. And pricing may be based on variable cost; we don’t know that this batch cost the same as the first set.
@djslack good point. weekend vs weekday certainly has impact.
Variable cost determines whether to produce or buy inventory in the first place. Once you have the inventory you can only sell at the price folks will pay - potential customers don’t care what you paid.
Market Supply and Demand determines selling price.
We can’t know unless Meh tells us but I suspect meh.com typically buys the maximum quantity of an item they believe they can handle all at once to minimize unit purchase cost.
In this case they might have believed they didn’t have enough inventory left at $14 so they bumped the price up a couple bucks. Smart thinking.
Or it simply could have been a profit grab after the first sale sold more than they expected. If there’s a third sale with significant quantity the latter is likely.
Edit: just looked at the final sales… 786, hinting saturation at $16. If they have a shitload of these left the price should drop back down for a subsequent sale.

Got these last time and they are pretty good. I don’t use them for the wrapping technology though. Just as a regular extension cord.
Double Quirky Meh
What is this? Two for Tuesday on a Saturday?
Your products are bad
And you should feel bad
It’s NOT Tuesday.
I look for ‘quirky’ in a date - not an extension cord.
A price increase, hmm.
@pcolachiller Good catch and I didn’t even notice that. Had to check my past orders to verify and you’re right. It was $14 the last time.
@pcolachiller I was so excited to see these come up again, but then cried when I realized they were more expensive.
@pcolachiller Now I feel used!
@pcolachiller The extra $2 must be the “Father’s Day Tax”
Two-fer-Taturday!
Apparently it’s stupid product Saturday.
These are useful for me… but 9 is too short sometimes if you know what I mean.
@larrygrochal
The difference between erotic and quirky….one uses chicken feathers, the other involves the chicken.
@eeterrific So… these are made out of recycled chickens? I don’t follow.
@eeterrific if your erotic includes either of those choices, you might be quirky.
Please extend my meh-anks to the family.
So I get 216 extension cords in total, then?
@Jetlag No, you get two extension cords that are over 1,000 feet long. Each 1,089 feet long, to be exact.
Wire gauge not listed=must be shiiiiit.
@beergut But it’s “Pro”!
According to random people on Amazon it is 14 gauge wire.

@beergut got em last time and looking at one now - 14 gauge wire.
My contribution to the thread is a picture of my lunch yesterday.
@huja looks good. Now I wanna order takeout…

Oops, I thought you were selling chord extensions. I don’t need these quirky things. My bad. Carry on.
This product doesn’t strike a “CHORD” for me sorry

@kensey But it is $8 each.

@pajamma
Downright angry? Really?

I forgot I bought these the last time and never tried them,thanks for the reminder.
Where did I put those things ? Over here…over there?
@jmbunkin You should have wrapped them around your orange ladder.
I don’t trust any extension cord that promises me three receptacles, yet is only willing to show me two.
/giphy secret receptacle
@El_Oel so you don’t trust your A-V receiver?
@RedOak Is it claiming to be an extension cord again??
@El_Oel You do realize it has another receptacle on the back of the head, right?
@RedOak That’s what it is claiming to have. Still no photos of claimed receptacle.

@El_Oel secret receptacles r hawt

If there’s anything I need more of it’s things that you can wrap around a ladder and then pull on.
If I wanted to attach my extension cord to my ladder, which I never have, I would just use an overhand knot. It’s cheaper.

I would’ve done $14 again but $16 is a no go.

And then they sell it out in however many sales it takes on meh.com or morningsave.com.

@RedOak Next sale two for $15.
It is the weekend, not $2-more-Tuesday…
@jvspencer I’m guessing the low price of the item has more impact on whether it’s a twofer than the day of the week.
Economies of shipping make a lot more sense on $16 vs $8.
And the exceptions - cheap items in single quantities are the tease to keep the remaining VMPrs in the hook.
