@communistjack@Joanna There were many things like sunglasses and others that I ordered later and received quickly. Unless some items get drop shipped. That doesn’t make sense though because most everything comes in “meh” packaging.
This looks about the same size as an iPhone 6 or 7. Hmmm, I wonder if get it for my mother and put a case on it… no, then she would expect me to call her.
@gustador@hchavers Don’t be getting all serious in here. I come here every morning to escape for a little while; to complain about how crappy Meh is and be amused by my fellow mehtizens.
Reminding me how effed up the world is, is… well effed up. You’re harshing my mellow.
@Trinityscrew I hear ya, my bad. Comments on here should stay amusing. Father’s Day just happened and comments on not calling parents hit me. I should have said:
How long could one of these power an USB powered masterbater ? Asking for a friend who wants 15 minutes of power, but only needs 3.
I don’t want to be a ball-buster but the power bank business has gone to solar charging power banks and they collect a huge amount of juice, like 28,000mAH.
The 2-Pack of Mophie 8000mAH Power Banks with USB-C Charging for 20 bucks seems like a great deal and I AM tempted but I have a desk drawer overflowing with power banks that I’ve gotten on deal (none of which are PINK!!), I think that should be enough for me as I have never needed to use one. Then there’s the power bank that piggy backs onto my Moto z3 that came for free with the phone when it was on deal last month at the Motorola website and it’s awesome. Then there are the cell phone power cords that plug into your vehicle’s cigar lighter and/or into the USB terminal that seems to be in every late model vehicle. So I have power banks in both my vehicles glove boxes and a desk drawer overflowing with power banks with wires to feed them.
Still……a 2-Pack of Mophie 8000mAH Power Banks priced at a double sawbuck…I’m getting closer to pushing the “BUY IT” button but they’re PINK for God’s sake.
AND I’m really starting to not like grapeville, one of these days I’ll probably get a ransom note for the stuff that hasn’t gotten to me yet.
Oh well, I think MEH is going to have a bad day with this one.
@BobsWorld a solar panel the size of a power bank is going to take about two weeks worth of sunshine to fully charge a 28800mAh pack. Solar cells on a power bank appear to be largely a gimmick.
@BobsWorld I agree: Having a gazillion power banks lying in some clutter bucket is not likely to be useful. I own three power banks total, and even when I travel, I bring only one (albeit a 25K mAh bruiser from Anker).
If you’re keeping a caboodle of power banks in anticipation of the apocalypse (or its equivalent weather event), take the time to check their charge every month and, for goodness sake, keep them where you know where to find them in a pinch.
For those looking, I just got mine last week, and here are a few thoughts:
They are not massively capacious like some 15000-28000 mAh packs, which usually cost more. But neither is your phone (unless you’ve got something really special)… The limited 8000 mAh capacity is enough to keep my phone, Switch, wireless headphones, or even iPad Pro going for a good while longer. I don’t expect these to fully charge most of my devices, because they’re just too small, but therein lies one of the advantages; These are small.
The packaging is nice, and the quality is excellent, and they’re decently compact, with a little bit of soft-touch padding to the battery casing. I love that they’re capable of USB-C charging (input/output), so they can be charged, and discharged very quickly, especially compared to larger bricks. If you’re okay with the pink colour, these are high quality, modern in the interface (both USB A and type C ports, with higher throughput), they’re very portable and svelte, and while they don’t have the oomph to fully charge larger devices, they offer plenty of juice to keep going between full charges anyway, and do so while being faster to charge, themselves.
Not sure why the Verizon price comparison is on here, since it’s ludicrous. Compared to Anker or Aukey stuff, you could get up to 20000 mAh for a similar price, but not always with USB-C power delivery. Worth $100? Not even a little bit. Worth $20? Sure - I paid about $5 more last time, and I don’t mind.
TL/DR: These are not huge, present a good value, are well made, offer USB-C, perform well in quick charging and discharging… Recommended.
@arosiriak I agree with all of this. In the world of inexpensive power banks, these are the “best” $10-12 ones I have seen. Even the pink color really isn’t that bad.
@arosiriak thanks for this. I bit the bullet bc I could use a power bank. Better to pay this price for one than the panic of needing one and stuck with the jacked up prices in stores when you need one in a hurry
@arosiriak Careful on conflating the term “power delivery” with this. While these do provide delivery of power via USB-C, they do not provide USB-C Power Delivery, which is a spec that dictates the chargers ability to provide a higher current (and much faster charge time) for compatible devices.
@mckaskie I am aware that certain people may expect a much higher total power than most when I state “power delivery” as a feature, but the review was intended for a target audience and with the understanding that this is a limited capacity device. As there are generations of the standard, this is not incorrect, as the battery has multiple input/output voltage configurations that are supported, increasing beyond the base of 5V, which is indicative of delivery beyond the earlier “power delivery profile” paradigm. To be clear, it does not support any enormous 20V spec, or achieve total outputs in excess of 60 or 100W. For such a small unit, half a sandwich in size, and barely more than a sandwich or two in price, it does exceed most batteries, and offers relatively quick charging via its limited power delivery connection. I have only tested up to 9V in either input or output, anecdotally, but that has been fast enough for my gadgets, and the limited capacity, and the price point. Thanks for keeping things honest.
@arosiriak according to the specs posted by @akumax the maximum power output of the usb-c port on these is 15W (5V @ 3A). That is the base usb-c power output and does not qualify as any version of the Power Delivery standard. If you are saying you are able to get more than 15W from these, then the specs posted (which also clearly state no PD) are incorrect. Otherwise, these do not have Power Delivery.
Review of these that I bought the last time they were on sale on meh: I have a Pixel 3XL that’s a little over a year old and I’ve gotten at least two complete charges off of one bank before I decided to not risk being without power. Great for travel as it’s the size of a phone. I don’t care about color because well it’s a power bank. The pink makes it easier to identify across the sea of black or white devices. Solid power bank, curious to see it’s lifespan and glad that I can finally ditch micro-USB cables.

@Stallion Almost makes me want speaker docks again.
@squishybrain @Stallion I’m waiting for a knife deal; lost my last one months ago…
How am I supposed to put two in the pink if it comes with only one charging cable? Hard pass.
here are the comments from last month when it was on sale for $4 more

@communistjack the reviews were mostly about shipping. Did I miss something?
@communistjack @Joanna Nope. It was exactly one month ago that I placed that order and I still haven’t got them. The shipping is all I can review.
@communistjack @tweezak might be staffing bc Rona.

@hchavers you should be calling your mother. Check in on your family, the world is a crazy place right now.

@akumax Thanks for those details. I was close to buying, but the last of even any Fast Charge at all, much less PD tips the scale for me.
