@melonscoop@yeppers If you squint real hard at the picture you can just make out the 5V markings right above the barrel plug. The car adapter is probably just a resister, so it will take forever to charge the light.
@melonscoop Agreed.
I have other rechargeable flashlights that utilize a micro or mini USB. Once I found out these exist, I stopped buying the barrel plugs all together. And this goes with anything that’s rechargeable. If it’s not USB or similar, I’m going to pass.
Convenience has a price and for me it’s worth it.
@cinoclav thx.
It’s just weird that out of dozens and dozens multimode flashlights that Meh sells, red mode is always flashing. Just add one more solid mode to this mediocrity of lights
@omegamonkey I’ve never gotten anything while on typo patrol, as far as I know. (It’s possible that something got slipped into an IRK without my knowledge, but it seems unlikely.)
@yeppers Dang. Well, even if there were prizes for typos, I would probably be very disappointed with the item, like a left over pizza cutter from yesterday.
My take is that this is a pretty solid NO for a few reasons.
I prefer user replaceable batteries like lithium 18650 cells, more universal charging (also preferably something better than USB micro-B, which is fragile and annoyingly long-lived in a time when we have much better connectors), and perhaps better total light output…
Looks to be proprietary charging, or at least some variation of the older barrel-type connectors, which just remind me of nightmarish gadgets and wall warts from the 90s. Even if that’s incorrect, and the micro is the connector, I still don’t love it, and the price for low output and lack of removable/replaceable battery cells all make this fairly unappealing.
@arosiriak
Yup, I’m done with built in Batts. Especially from Meh.
While I would prefer USB-c, I have a lifetime supply of USB micro so I usually just shrug it off. Sadly it will be too long before we see the last micro USB as even new products have them.
OH MY GOD THEY CAPTURED GLEN AND SOME OF HIS BROS AND STUFFED THEM INTO CANISTERS TO RECREATE THE CLASSIC SNAKE-POPS-OUT-OF-A-CAN SURPRISE GAG, BUT THEY WERE TOO CHEAP TO USE ACTUAL CANS SO THEY USED THESE FLASHLIGHTS INSTEAD, BUT IT’S MEH SO WHADDYA EXPECT!!!
that would be a sure …… meh …… changed my mind, definitely no. 50 lumens, not to mention I order the lamps a week or so ago and have them on their way.
How much do I have to pay for a flashlight without flashing red lights? Or flashing white for that matter. Does anybody think Seizure Mode is a good thing?

Or you could get out of bed and flip on the… light… switch. It’s usually located pretty close to the door; and sometimes on bedside furniture. More than 50 lumens most likely.
@pskemp2 funny thing about flashlights. You mainly are supposed to use them when you can’t flip on a switch. Like when the power is out or you are outside. Or as a work light. No one uses a flashlight to get out of bed. I hope. Still not for me but you are being rediculous.
To balance out all the negatives - I ordered two to give to my grandkids. I think it’ll work well for lighting the cardboard fort at night. Maybe reading in bed too
( woolen-rustic-line ) I really really really wanted a blue set, if you meheions can’t possibly find a blue set for me I would be much thankful. I really hate red and really don’t care for Green but I had to get Green anyway since I’m addicted to this kind of stuff. So please make it a much more pleasant addiction for me and find a blue set and change them out for me…
So I just got the flashlights in today and after a quick inspection I definitely do not think they’re worth $10 apiece. They feel incredibly light in my hand, supposedly they’ve got a 18650 battery in them, If so they are extremely lightweight so later on I’m gonna take them apart and debunk the 18650 claim. If there really is one in it it’s incredibly lightweight so I’ll remove the 1800 mAh Lipo battery and put a real one in it.
Love this light! The first one worked great the second one I went to give to my daughter last night and it doesn’t work. That sucks my luck of course I guess I should of charged and checked them both when received. Never imagined it wouldn’t work though. Especially since the one I opened and did use worked great and sill does!
Wait… you just got around to giving your daughter a gift you bought nearly 2 years ago? Wow, this is some hard-core procrasti… I’ll finish that word later.
Re: it not working, isn’t it generally a bad idea to leave rechargeables 100% drained for an extended period? (If we’re still doing the battery / fridge joke thing, then insert your favorite here.)
These lights are great if they work! I finally threw the second one away yesterday. It just wasn’t going to work no matter what I tried! It SUCKS!! One of them works perfect though! I’ve had them for some time now! Was hoping to contact the company but could never find out who they were and the box has no labeling at all just simply red! Live and learn you get what you pay for I guess!

I wanted to give these a try - until I saw that they use a funky shaped adapter to charge. If they charged by micro USB? I’d be all over them.
@melonscoop I think the funky adapter is for 12V charging in the car. It looks to me like they charge w/5V USB via a typical AC to USB adapter.
It would be extra hilarious if the wall adapter provided 12V instead of 5V, but that seems overly malicious.
@melonscoop barrel plug for charging Flash light. Usb out for Charging another device off internal battery.
@melonscoop @yeppers If you squint real hard at the picture you can just make out the 5V markings right above the barrel plug. The car adapter is probably just a resister, so it will take forever to charge the light.

i want a non flashy red flashlight
@username Tape a theater gel over the lens. For example, chosen at random (and I make no assertions about quality): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NBKXRWQ/
@username There’s tons of them out there. I had bought one for work because they were supposed to help find hidden veins. Didn’t really help.

@cinoclav thx.

Shouldn’t it be “wreak havoc in your neighborhood” instead of “read havoc in your neighborhood”? Do I get anything cool for finding a typo?
@omegamonkey I’ve never gotten anything while on typo patrol, as far as I know. (It’s possible that something got slipped into an IRK without my knowledge, but it seems unlikely.)
@yeppers Dang. Well, even if there were prizes for typos, I would probably be very disappointed with the item, like a left over pizza cutter from yesterday.
@omegamonkey @yeppers
I think https://us.amazon.com/dp/B072C58KGW is the same thing, albeit model number 4063 instead.
I always need flashy lights. I’m in
I can’t see the my way to get these. If only my way was lit.
I sort of wish I bought this instead of the huge pack of little LED lights a week ago.
I just want to give kudos to the gif maker , you explained it perfectly and quickly, so good job.
The price setter might have made a typo in the quantity for this price

do you honestly expect me to buy a non-magnetic flashlight it is the CURRENT YEAR get with the times, GRANDPA
@dvermilion It has a magnetic base, sonny.
$73 at the Depot? Seriously??
@katbyter Probably why they’re getting rid of them on Meh.
50 lumens?? I’ll buy a box of matches for a buck and see a lot better.
Horrible reviews over at Home Depot’s website. Almost pulled the trigger on these too!
Nearly tempting… no!
I always need flashlights… Especially rechargeable flashlights… Just not craptastic flashlights… Pass.
@rustyh3 - This. No room in my craptastic flashlight bin for this bulky one.
that would be a sure …… meh …… changed my mind, definitely no. 50 lumens, not to mention I order the lamps a week or so ago and have them on their way.

Why?
@blaineg the flash mode is usually an SOS or a road hazard mode. I agree most will never need such a thing. But it’s a “feature”
I’m guessing these are nimh batteries that need to be plugged in 24/7 to fight self discharge. pass.
@tjamesturner Instead of guessing, I read the Owner’s manual) - it is a lithium-ion battery.
@rpstrong thank you for your diligence. now i just need to decide if i want to deal with yet another type of charger on my charging bench…
@tjamesturner nimh have been available in low self discharge versions for over a decade. If you were thinking they could be nicads I’d get your point…
total crap.
Or you could get out of bed and flip on the… light… switch. It’s usually located pretty close to the door; and sometimes on bedside furniture. More than 50 lumens most likely.

Waiting for my pack of 12 collapsible ones. That looks spelled wrong.
@edsa Ah, the Pitney Bowes express service strikes again.
Every feature of these lights suggests that they were designed and first manufactured more than a decade ago.
Today we can buy 1 watt LEDs that produce 140 lumens. These produce 50 lumens.
2200 mAh is a very low capacity for a large device.
The USB output is only 1 amp at 5 volts (5 watts).
The power input is a barrel connector.
The price is insane for 2020, but wonderful for 2004.
@hamjudo Last
year’sdecade’s stuff, tomorrow’s price!I have termed a collector, a hoarder, or just “guy with a buying stuff problem.” Fortunately I seem to be immune from this product.
To balance out all the negatives - I ordered two to give to my grandkids. I think it’ll work well for lighting the cardboard fort at night. Maybe reading in bed too
@mikejstb At last, potential users who will actually use the flashing red LEDs!
@mikejstb got them & they are a big hit! So bright.
( woolen-rustic-line ) I really really really wanted a blue set, if you meheions can’t possibly find a blue set for me I would be much thankful. 1 for the money, 2 for the show, three to get ready and four - one each for each family member - way to go!
14 days to deliver a couple of flashlights? Damn…
@mmc106 I ordered mine on June 9 and it has still not been delivered!
I may have ordered these but I was afraid that having work lights might require me to actually do some work.
Where’s my order
Still waiting. Would like to know, just how RAD my purchase is!
@prizm2001. It’s the Pitney Bowes mess for mine.
Info sent on 10th
Inducted on 13th
Departed (on a tour of the USA?) on the 15th
And been sitting on “Picked up and Processed by agent” since the 23rd … 7 days later!
@prizm2001
But it’s getting better … a Mediocritee order was 20 days from Departed to Picked up. 5 days to get to USPS with another 2 days for delivery.
Hopefully they aren’t making up the 10 days here!
Not very impressed with them. Came with unclear directions and a warning to not plug in to the wall outlet???
As of today, I still have not received my order.
I still have not received my order. It’s been nearly a month. Give me one more day and it will be a month. That’s just ridiculous.
@prizm2001
I’m assuming you also saw the estimated delivery date?
I’m not saying it’s not ridiculous, but they sort of were clear that shipping would be very slow.
Thankfully they’re working on alternative shipping methods.
Ordered on June 9th. A cool Father’s Day gift… But alas, Father’s Day has now past. NO LIGHTS. So sad.
Still not delivered. Tracking says picked up and processed by agent in Billings, MT, on June 23.
Ordered on June 9th. Received on July 30th. Wow! Kinda ridiculous!
Ordered on June 30th. Received today, August 7, 2020. Ridiculous!!!
